Dynamite Date: June 18, 2021 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, Jim Ross, Taz The Friday series continues with a special match inside an MMA cage. That may or may not be your taste, but it is certainly something different, which you have to do at some point. This time around it is Jake Hager vs. Wardlow, which is about as logical of a move as you can get. Let’s get to it. Jake Hager vs. Wardlow Chris Jericho and Shawn Spears are the seconds here and it is a full octagon, complete with cage. Wardlow makes sure to turn his back on Hager during the intros, just to show off a bit more. We have three five minute rounds here and you can only win by submission or knockout (no judges). They circle each other for a bit to start until Hager starts going with the striking. Wardlow doesn’t seem to know what to do with him here as Hager hits a few shots and then walks off to let Wardlow think about it. Hager’s attempt at a double leg gets him ..

Last night at UFC 225, CM Punk made his return to the Octagon, taking on Mike Jackson in his second-ever professional fight. This was his first match since losing to Mickey Gall by submission at 2:14 of the opening round at UFC 203. The second verse was the same as the first. Jackson defeated Punk by unanimous decision at UFC 225, with all three judges scoring it a shutout, 30-26. You can see an analysis of the fight below: [This post contains video, click to play] ESPN provided the following breakdown of the fight: Punk, a Chicago native who signed with the UFC in 2014, actually got to show some technique Saturday night. He landed a couple of overhand rights and worked a successful takedown in the first round. In the second round, he very briefly worked a triangle setup off his back. Jackson, 33, started to really have his way in the second and third rounds. A Houston native, he has only two MMA appearances but has boxed and kickboxed professionally. He had an easy time locatin..
CM Punk is heading back into the Octagon on Saturday, June 9 in a UFC fight against Mike Jackson. Punk’s focus is on the bout despite the rigors of his recent lawsuit . As The Second City Saint prepares both physically and mentally for the fight that is to come, fans are obviously asking the same question. Is CM Punk coming back to the world of professional wrestling? Much of the press that Punk did following the trial’s conclusion saw him giving a somewhat ambiguous answer to that very question. However as the day went on, his answer became an emphatic no. Of course that comment is likely not going to prevent anyone from speculating on Punk’s potential future in the business. Despite Punk’s words to the contrary, the fact is people just cannot help but wonder “what if?” Part of that is human nature. But part of it is due to the pro wrestling industry itself and the inherent nature of fans to automatically distrust everything they see. It’s difficult to blame fans for immediately sna..
When CM Punk appeared on Colt Cabana’s “Art of Wrestling” podcast to give his side of the story regarding his WWE departure, he ruffled a lot of feathers. WWE doctor Chris Amann filed a lawsuit against Punk and Cabana and the suit is actually going to trial. Unfortunately for Punk, this is horrible timing. At UFC 225, he’s set to have his second fight inside The Octagon against Michael Jackson. After his defeat against Mickey Gall, he’s trying to bounce back against Jackson and having a trial on his mind is a problem. Related: Major Update Regarding CM Punk’s Status For ‘All In’ Dave Meltzer brought up the point on Wrestling Observer Radio that having the trial is obviously a mental distraction before a fight. However, the real problem is he could be stuck in court when he’s supposed to be training for The Octagon. It’s even more of a challenge to keep up with a training regiment when he needs to be in court for days. CM Punk is going to have an interesting couple of weeks. There w..
Former professional wrestler turned pro MMA fighter CM Punk returns to the Octagon next month at UFC 225, facing Mike Jackson. Punk and Jackson will kick off the main card of the event, which is set to air live on pay-per-view. UFC Hall Of Fame member Mark Coleman voiced his opinion about the placement of the Punk/Jackson fight on Twitter: Sometimes u have to make exceptions.$ I'm excited for this fight . I wish @CMPunk the best! But I understand. — Mark Coleman (@HammerHouseMMA) May 14, 2018 That would lead to Punk issuing a response of his own through Twitter, where the former wrestler admits his bout should be kicking off the event on UFC Fight Pass: I understand too. If it was up to me, I'd be first fight on fight pass. Don't matter to me. Fans like to be outraged by stuff that doesn't matter. (Appreciate the support Mr. Coleman!!!!! You're truly the man) — Coach (@CMPunk) May 14, 2018 Such luminaries as former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holl..
Chael Sonnen dives into the story that is CM Punk in the UFC. In the fall of 2016, former WWE superstar CM Punk stepped into the octagon for the first time at UFC 203 against Mickey Gall. Punk was submitted via a "rear naked choke" two minutes into the first round of the fight. Fast forwarding two years later and CM Punk has an upcoming fight against Mike Jackson on June 9th at UFC 225 in Punk's hometown of Chicago, IL. One man who has June 9th circled on his calender and has his eyes locked in on the forthcoming fight is the 30-15 Chael Sonnen. In one of his 'Beyond The Fight' videos on his personal YouTube channel, Sonnen broke down the story of CM Punk in UFC and although Punk has only had one fight, Sonnen dove into the hype that came with the former WWE superstar, and weighed in on how he views the matchup between Punk & Jackson. "I've always liked the CM Punk story, and I've always thought the story was mistold." Sonnen stated. "It was always kind of ..
