Smackdown Date: November 4, 2022 Location: Enterprise Center, St. Louis, Missouri Commentators: Wade Barrett, Michael Cole It’s time for a taped show as everyone else is already in Saudi Arabia. The main event this week is Gunther defending the Intercontinental Title against Rey Mysterio in a match that has some potential. Other than that, we probably get the final push towards Logan Paul challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Title, because celebrity. Let’s get to it. Liv Morgan vs. Sonya Deville No DQ. It’s a brawl to start with Deville grabbing some kendo sticks and driving Morgan into the apron. Back in and Deville unloads with the stick but Morgan is smiling. Morgan fights up and sticks her down, meaning it’s table time. That’s broken up and Deville puts the table back under the ring. Back up and Morgan hits a suicide dive to drop Deville and then she does it again. Now we can get the table set up with Liv driving her through it as we take a break. We come back with a bunch..
Smackdown Date: October 28, 2022 Location: Enterprise Center, St. Louis, Missouri Commentators: Wade Barrett, Michael Cole We are less than eight days away from Crown Jewel and Roman Reigns is actually here this time. Odds are he’s going to be talking about Logan Paul, but there is always the chance that he will be giving us some hints about what he is going to be doing at Survivor Series. Other than that, I’m sure Bray Wyatt will be running around. Let’s get to it. Brawling Brutes vs. Solo Sikoa/Sami Zayn In the back, Sami asks Jey Uso to keep things calm, as Roman Reigns isn’t here yet and the first thing he needs to see is the team being successful. Butch and Zayn start things off with the former hitting a rather hard clothesline. Holland comes in to help Butch out with some forearms to the chest. Jimmy gets in a cheap shot to Butch from the floor but he’s fine enough to send Sami outside. A running knee off the apron drops Zayn but Sikoa runs Butch over as we take a break. Back ..
It’s a different way to go. Wrestling is a lot of things, but ultimately it is a visual medium that needs someone to be able to see the wrestlers. If a wrestler does not catch your attention with their appearance, it can be a lot more difficult to find a reason to connect with them. That means a change in appearance can make a lot of difference and that might be the case again. Following WrestleMania Backlash and a loss to the Usos, RKBRo was attacked by the Bloodline, resulting in Randy Orton being written off of television. Orton has a real life back injury that could keep him off of television for the remainder of the year. Some photos have appeared on Twitter showing Orton with a clean shaven face, rather than his usual mustache, sitting by a pool in Missouri. There is currently no specific date on when Orton will return to the ring. Pics from yesterday of @RandyOrton at a pool in St. Charles,Missouri with a few lucky fans. He musta shaved the day before because he had a stache &..
Rampage Date: June 17, 2022 Location: Chaifetz Arena, St. Louis, Missouri Commentators: Taz, Excalibur, Chris Jericho We are less than two weeks away from Forbidden Door and a bunch of matches were added to the card this week on Dynamite. I doubt that we get that much this time, but we do get Jade Cargill vs. Willow Nightingale. That should be a fun match and odds are we get something else on the same level. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jon Moxley vs. Dante Martin William Regal is on commentary and calls Jericho a Trout Slapper. Moxley powers him into the corner to start as we talk about Zack Sabre Jr.’s comments about Bryan Danielson. They trade wristlocks into a headlock takeover from Moxley but Martin is back up with a dropkick out to the floor. Moxley runs him over again though and we take a break. Back with Moxley hitting the running knee to the face and a butterfly superplex for two. Martin fights up and hits a quick ax handle, setting up a high crossbody for two of his..
Dynamite Date: June 15, 2022 Location: Chaifetz Arena, St. Louis, Missouri Commentators: Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone The road to Forbidden Door continues and as has been the case with AEW in recent weeks, things have gotten a little bit screwy. This time around it is Jeff Hardy getting arrested for driving under the influence, meaning that he will not be around for this week’s Tag Team Title match. Hopefully this doesn’t throw the show into chaos so let’s get to it. Chris Jericho vs. Ortiz Hair vs. hair, the Jericho Appreciation Society and Eddie Kingston are here, and William Regal is on commentary. Ortiz charges in and knocks Jericho to the floor for some biting of the face. Jericho takes over outside and hammers away inside, only to have Ortiz get in some shots of his own. The suicide dive is broken up though and Jericho hits a suplex off the apron to the floor as we take a break. Back with Ortiz clotheslining his way out of trouble and hitting a quick cutter. Jericho rol..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Money in the Bank 2017 Date: June 18, 2017 Location: Scottrade Center, St. Louis, Missouri Commentators: Tom Phillips, John Bradshaw Layfield, Byron Saxton It’s time to climb. Tonight is all about the ladders and the briefcases, which could be cashed in tonight, assuming we have a bit of luck. This has the potential to be an interesting show with a five match card, though two of them are major ladder matches whose entrances alone will take about ten minutes. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Hype Bros vs. Colons Th..
Rampage Date: June 10, 2022 Location: Cable Dahmer Arena, Independence, Missouri Commentators: Excalibur, Taz We are just over two weeks away from Forbidden Door but things have been shaken up pretty hard around here lately. A string of injuries has changed some of the direction in AEW but bringing in some of the New Japan wrestlers should help. That includes this week, as Will Ospreay/Aussie Open are teaming up to face FTR/Trent Beretta. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Eddie Kingston vs. Jake Hager Kingston strikes away to start but Hager knocks him down with a knee to the ribs. Hager sends him outside before it’s back inside to crank on both arms. They’re already back to the floor with Hager pounding away, followed by some forearms in the corner back inside. The armbar goes on back inside but Kingston fights up. That doesn’t go well for Kingston, who gets chopped so hard that he takes down the straps. Kingston kicks him in the head to take over, only to walk into an overhead be..
Dynamite Date: June 8, 2022 Location: Cable Dahmer Arena, Independence, Missouri Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross It’s time for things to get all the more interesting again as this week will include the first half of the process to find a new Interim AEW World Champion. That alone should fill in a good bit of the show, as we get a battle royal and then a Jon Moxley match in the show’s main event. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Casino Battle Royal This is the battle royal with four groups of wrestlers coming in at unspecified intervals before the Joker is the 21st entrant, with the winner facing Jon Moxley later tonight. We’ll start with the first group: Clubs: Eddie Kingston, Darby Allin, Tony Nese, Daniel Garcia, Lance Archer It’s a brawl to start with Archer and Allin being left alone early, though no one is eliminated. Archer shrugs off Allin’s skateboard shot and takes him into the corner so the Diamonds can come in: Diamonds: Ricky Starks, Jake Hager, Re..
Royal Rumble 2022 Date: January 29, 2022 Location: The Dome At America’s Center, St. Louis, Missouri Attendance: 44,390 Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Michael Cole, Pat McAfee We are officially kicking off the Road to WrestleMania XXXVIII and that means things should be starting big here. First up we have the Royal Rumbles themselves, plus what should be a pair of awesome World Title matches as Brock Lesnar defends against Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins challenges Roman Reigns. Let’s get to it. Note that I was in the stadium for this, sitting in the upper deck with the Titantron on my right. No Kickoff Show matches this year, which was a bit weird. The opening video looks at the start of the Road To Wrestlemania, with a look at just about everything on tonight’s card. Cool, even if it isn’t breaking new ground. Smackdown World Title: Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins Rollins is challenging and comes out to the Shield theme, including in the Shield gear. He eve..
Smackdown Date: January 28, 2022 Location: T-Mobile Center, Kansas City, Missouri Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee It’s the go home show for the Royal Rumble and that means it is probably time for the fabled face to face showdown. In this case, that likely means Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins, who just don’t have that much history together. Other than that, we are likely going to get the final push towards tomorrow night. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here is Charlotte to get things going. She promises to do what Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will never do: bring a championship to Kansas City! Charlotte promises to win the Royal Rumble on Saturday, where there will be returns and betrayals. There are going to be people fighting and clawing to go to Wrestlemania. Cue Shayna Baszler to interrupt, saying that this is her language. Baszler is going to win, but here is Aliyah to brag about her world record. She is feeling confident, but here is Natalya to interrupt, calling Al..
It happens to everyone. There are so many wrestlers in WWE today and some of them have been around for a very long time. You get to see some of these wrestlers for years and years, to the point where you might forget just how long they have been around. Those years ago going to add up, and now one of the more legendary wrestlers has started to feel some of the damage. Monday Night Raw’s Randy Orton was recently interviewed by FOX 2 Now in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. During the interview, Orton spoke about how his body is starting to feel the thousands of RKO’s he has delivered over the years. Orton said that he wished he had invented a signature move that did not involve jumping as high as he could have and landing on his back. Now 41 years old, Orton is now currently scheduled for the Royal Rumble, though he could still be added to the show. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is going to happen over the years and that is not the best thing to hear. Ultimately, Orton is..
Rampage Date: November 5, 2021 Location: Chafetz Arena, St. Louis, Missouri Commentators: Ricky Starks, Taz, Excalibur It’s another live show this week and that could be a good thing. The big story this week is a face to face showdown between CM Punk and Eddie Kingston, meaning it’s time to get the popcorn ready. The talking alone should be great to hear and you can all but write in the Full Gear match from here. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Bryan Danielson vs. Anthony Bowens Max Caster is here with Bowens and raps about how Danielson loves cucumbers, is famous for his wife’s reality show, has skinny legs and a father in law who kills wrestlers’ careers (Johnny Ace). Danielson goes after the arm to start but Bowens runs him over with a shoulder. Some kicks to the face don’t do much to Danielson, who is back with a kick to the chest. They fight to the floor though and Danielson is sent into the barricade. Caster gets in a shot of his own and we take a break. Back with Danielson..
Dynamite Date: November 3, 2021 Location: Cable Dahmer Arena, Independence, Missouri Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur We are less than three weeks away from Full Gear and things have been shaken up a bit. Jon Moxley, who was in the semifinals of the #1 contenders tournament, has decided to go to rehab for alcohol issues, which leaves a big hole in the brackets. We should get a replacement tonight though and that could be interesting. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Kenny Omega vs. Alan Angels Non-title and commentary brings up Moxley’s issues during Omega’s entrance. Angels goes right after him to start but Omega knocks him back, including some chops. A few shots knock Omega into the corner but he’s back with the Kitaro Crusher. Omega hits a running face shots to take Angels down (think a bulldog but from the front) and the brainbuster onto the knee knocks Angels silly. The V Trigger misses though and Angels grabs a rollup for two. There’s a suicide dive to send..

Monday Night Raw Date: June 6, 2005 Location: Savvis Center, St. Louis, Missouri Attendance: 10,000 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler It’s time for the start of the Draft and that is the kind of thing that can change a lot about the company in a hurry. The first Draft pick is going to be revealed on the Highlight Reel and that could make for some interesting interactions. Other than that we have the build towards HHH vs. Batista in the Cell and it’s also the go home show for One Night Stand. Let’s get to it. E..
A nice stop over. The wrestling world has been changing in a lot of ways over the last few months and that is likely going to continue to be the case for a long time to come. You are going to be seeing various wrestlers moving from one promotion to another, with most of them going to or from WWE or AEW. There are other promotions out there though, and this time someone made a cameo elsewhere. Ric Flair appeared at Sunday’s NWA 73rd Anniversary Show in St. Louis, Missouri in a special segment. During his interview, Flair mainly thanked various WWE names, including Vince McMahon, Triple H and Shawn Michaels for allowing him to be here. He also talked some legends and his memories of wrestling in St. Louis. Flair’s appearance had been advertised in advance, but no other details had been mentioned. This was a special one. Check out part of the promo and some of Flair’s time in St. Louis: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post con..
Woo indeed. There are very few wrestlers who have been around for as long as Ric Flair. While some might not be as fond of his as others, there is no way to deny the level of impact and success that Flair has had over the years. He has worked just about everywhere at one point or another and will likely wind up in AEW sooner than later. However, he is going to be heading back home as well. The NWA has announced that Flair will be appearing at the NWA 73rd Anniversary Show on Sunday August 29 in St. Louis, Missouri. This comes after the NWA extended an offer for Flair to appear at the event, which Flair has accepted. There is no word on what he will be doing at the show. Flair is at least a ten time NWA World Champion (depending on which reigns are being counted) and held the title over 3,000 days combined. I think you can call him a legend. Check out the announcement plus some of Flair’s classic NWA moments: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, clic..
Mark your calendars? There are several well known WWE shows throughout the company’s history and you often know when to expect most of them. Several of them have a very deep history of their own and those histories get longer and longer every single year. That will be the case next year as well, but one of them might be seeing something for the first time ever. According to Fightful Select, there is a chance that the 2022 Royal Rumble will be held in February for the first time in history. There is no word on why the event would be moved to the later date. The likely current location for the event is St. Louis, Missouri, though Seattle, Washington has also been mentioned. It is not clear if the show would be held in February if Seattle hosts the event. You have probably seen them before. Check out some of the show’s greatest matches: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I would be..
We have some sad news to report today as “The Assassin” Joey Hamilton has passed away at the age of 82. From WWE.com: Following in the footsteps of his brother Larry “The Missouri Mauler,” Hamilton transitioned from amateur boxing and broke into the world of wrestling in the 1950s. By 1958, The Hamilton Brothers had risen up the ranks of the New York based Capitol Wrestling and battled Antonino Rocca and Miguel Pérez in the main event at Madison Square Garden. Just 19 years old at the time, Jody became the youngest grappler to ever co-main event at The World’s Most Famous Arena. Hamilton would go on to team with Tom Renesto to form the masked duo The Assassins and drew sellout crowds throughout the southeastern United States. The tandem became a force in Georgia Championship Wrestling and held the NWA Georgia Tag Team Titles a record-breaking 12 times. After Renesto’s retirement, Hamilton would carry on the torch of The Assassins with Ernie Ladd and then “Hercules” Hernandez and cl..
Main Event Date: July 29, 2021 Location: T-Mobile Center, Kansas City, Missouri Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Byron Saxton The fans are back, but unfortunately it seems that the changes that had been taken place around here are not. Last week felt a lot like the Main Event days of old, which is far from exciting news. Normally I would say that I’m not surprised, but I really can’t say I am with this show. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jaxson Ryker vs. Drew Gulak Ryker powers him into the corner to start so Gulak does it to him as well. Gulak’s slap to the face doesn’t seem to be the best idea as Ryker is back with a spinning slam. We hit the armbar on Gulak as we hear about Ryker’s military career again. Gulak switches into a cravate to hold Ryker down and it’s off to a cross arm choke. Ryker powers up into some ax handles to the chest and a release slingshot suplex drops Gulak again. The swinging Boss Man Slam finishes Gulak at 5:17. Result: Jaxson Ryker b. Drew Gulak – Swingi..
