It Grows: Three New Matches Added To AEW Forbidden Door

The card grows. We are coming up on a special event for AEW as they are running their first ever June pay per view. The show, Forbidden Door, will feature a variety of matches between AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling stars. There will be some other matches on the card though, including some between only AEW stars. Several of them were added to the card this week. There were three matches added to the Forbidden Door card during this week’s edition of Dynamite. First up, Chris Jericho announced that he would team up with Sammy Guevara and Minoru Suzuki to face Wheeler Yuta, Eddie Kingston and Shota Umino. Next, the returning Orange Cassidy will challenge Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Title. Finally, Thunder Rosa will defend the AEW Women’s Title against Toni Storm. Opinion: This is the kind of series of announcements that needed to be made as you need a middle of the card to make a show work. That was the case here as they added in three more matches on top of the two already ..

Mix N Match: Another Company’s Title Changes Hands On AEW Dynamite

More history has been made! Titles are the simplest concept in wrestling, as any fan of any experience level can understand the concept. A champion is the best around and someone else wants to take their spot. It has worked forever in wrestling and it still does today, as a title change can shake up any promotion in the blink of an eye. That seems to be the case again this week. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Samoa Joe defeat Minoru Suzuki to win the Ring of Honor Television Title for the first time in his career. Suzuki won the title from Rhett Titus at the Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor event on April 1. There is no word on when Ring of Honor will return to running regular events or if Samoa Joe will defend the title on AEW television going forward. Opinion: That’s not exactly a shocking result as Suzuki felt like someone there to hold the title for a few weeks before someone else won the thing. I can go with the transitional title reign as Joe holding the title i..

Dynamite Date: April 13, 2022 Location: UNO Lakefront Arena, New Orleans, Louisiana Commentators: Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone It’s the start of a big week around here as we are on the third of five shows. There are some important matches set up for this card and there is a good chance that we could be in for a fun one. If nothing else, they are coming in off a white hot main event last week so hopefully they can keep up the momentum. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. CM Punk vs. Penta Obscuro Alex Abrahantes is here with Penta. Punk isn’t overly intimidated by Obscuro’s entrance and they stare each other down to start. That goes into the big chop off, with the fans getting right into this as soon as they get going. A superkick staggers Punk but he kicks Penta in the ribs to cut him off. Punk strikes away as commentary runs down tonight’s card, including Samoa Joe vs. Minoru Suzuki. The GTS is countered into an ankle lock and Punk gets sent to the floor. Some suicide dives t..

AEW Has A Strong Night At ROH Supercard Of Honor With Big Title Haul

It was a busy night. There are a lot of titles to be won in the wrestling industry and some of them have deep histories. It means something when those titles change hands, especially on a show of magnitude. In his case, a lot of the titles had not been defended or even seen in a very long time, making the changes all the more important. That was the case this week in a big way. There were four new champions crowned at Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor 2022 event, which served as the company’s first new event since December 2021. First, Mercedes Martinez defeated Willow Nightingale to become the new Interim Women’s Champion, setting up a unification match with Deonna Purrazzo. Second, FTR defeated the Briscoes to win the Tag Team Titles. Next, Minoru Suzuki took the Television Title from Rhett Titus, followed by Wheeler Yuta becoming the Pure Champion by defeating Josh Woods. Wrestling Show Letting Fans Pick Who Gets A Lot Of Money

It’s a different motivation. Wrestlers are in a unique situation as they are definitely athletes who are trying to do the best that they can, but a good number of them are doing what they do for the financial impact wrestling can offer. While not everyone is going to reach that high paying level, it is a goal for many and now there is a special way to accomplish just that in a fairly uncommon way. On March 31, WrestleCon will present the Mark Hitchcock Memorial WrestleCon Supershow. WrestleCon has tweeted out an announcement, saying that there will be a fan vote after the show to determine the best match on the show. The wrestlers involved in that match will then split $5,000. Five matches have been set for the card, with three more to take place on the show. Here is what is currently announced: * Minoru Suzuki vs. Biff Busick * The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) vs. The Rottweilers (Low Ki & Homicide) * Bandido vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey * Tomohiro Ishii vs. Timothy Thatcher * Mia Y..

Impact Wrestling Results – November 4, 2021

Impact Wrestling Date: November 4, 2021 Location: Sam’s Town Live, Las Vegas, Nevada Commentators: Matt Striker, D’Lo Brown Things are staying interesting after Bound For Glory as Moose is the World Champion and needs some friends to go after his challengers. This time around, that means a guest star in the form of Minoru Suzuki, who will be in for a six man tag. I think that’s enough to hype up the show so let’s get to it. Opening recap. Opening sequence. Steve Maclin vs. Rohit Raju vs. Laredo Kid vs. Black Taurus For a future X-Division Title shot and Raj Singh and Crazzy Steve are here too. Maclin and Taurus clear the ring to start and take turns running the ropes until Taurus scores with a clothesline to the floor. The two of them wind up on the floor and Laredo hits a moonsault onto everyone else. Back in and Raju hammers Kid into the corner, setting up a sitout gordbuster for two. Taurus comes back in so Kid hurricanranas out back to the floor, setting up a dive for two. Raju..

Bryan Danielson’s Current Path Is Leading To The AEW World Championship

Bryan Danielson is hitting his stride in AEW. The American Dragon worked two of the toughest men in the industry on back to back nights and went over in both matches. First, Danielson battled Minoru Suzuki in a brutal war on the October 15 edition of Rampage. He then fought Bobby Fish in a highly competitive match on the following night’s Dynamite. In both instances, Bryan was definitely on his game. He’s reminding fans of just how good he is between the ropes. He’s also getting back to his catch wrestling roots, which made him a legend in Ring of Honor. There’s no doubt that Bryan Danielson is once again a killer in the ring. So is he on his way to the AEW World Championship? [This post contains video, click to play] Return Of The Dragon For many longtime fans, this is the Bryan Danielson that they’ve been waiting for. He’s deliberate with his strikes. He’s stiff with his kicks and he’s violent with his knees. Everything he hits looks painful and every time he runs, he’s full thr..

AEW Rampage Results – October 15, 2021

Rampage Date: October 15, 2021 Location: James L. Knight Center, Miami, Florida Commentators: Excalibur, Ricky Starks, Taz This is another special edition of the show as we have a bonus first hour airing on YouTube, which seems to be retaliation for WWE running an extra half hour of Smackdown this week. The bonus hour will feature Bryan Danielson vs. Minoru Suzuki while the regular show has CM Punk against Matt Sydal. Let’s get to it. Buy-In: Tay Conti vs. Santana Garrett Anna Jay is here with Conti, who takes Garrett down by the arm to start. Neither of them can hit am armdrag as commentary hypes up the Rampage card, including a commercial free opener. Conti’s leglock has Garrett in more trouble and she kicks Garrett in the face for two. Garrett is sent to the apron but misses a kick to the face, allowing Conti to roll her back inside for two. There’s a forearm to Conti’s face to stagger her again and a running elbow in the corner makes it worse. Conti fights out of a leglock and a..

AEW Adding Extra Hour This Friday With Bryan Danielson In Action

The battle rages on. One of the most interesting stories in wrestling over the last two years has been the battle between WWE and AEW. The two promotions have been fighting it out, including a year and a half long battle on Wednesday nights. WWE’s NXT eventually backed out, leaving AEW as the only game in town on Wednesdays. There are other nights of the week though and now we are going to see another one off battle. During an interview on WFAN Sports Radio, AEW President Tony Khan announced that AEW will be presenting a special Buy In show this week before Rampage goes on the air. The show will feature a pair of matches, including Bryan Danielson vs. Minoru Suzuki and Bobby Fish vs. Lee Moriarty, as announced by Khan via Twitter. The show will air against the second hour of this week’s WWE SmackDown. Friday starts a great wrestling weekend with #AEWRampage LIVE 10pm on TNT but first Friday at 9pm ET we go live with The Buy In to preview a HUGE Friday Rampage + Saturday #AEWDynamite!..

VIDEO: Former World Champion Makes Surprise AEW Debut

Welcome aboard? AEW has come a long way in a short amount of time and a lot of that is due to its roster. The company has put together a great balance of rookies, current stars and veterans, which has made for a great selection. It can always help to bring in someone else though, and that might have been the case this week as a former World Champion made his debut. The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Rampage saw Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston team up to face Minoru Suzuki and Lance Archer. Near the end of the match, former Ring of Honor World Champion Homicide appeared and helped Moxley and Kingston win the match. There is no word on if this was a one off appearance or if Homicide will be sticking around. Homicide has been wrestling in Ring of Honor, and was half of the Tag Team Champions earlier this month. Homicide would be a nice addition. Check out Homicide’s appearance and how good he can be: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to..

AEW Dynamite Defeats Monday Night Raw In Important Category

That’s a big one. The wrestling world has been changed in a huge way thanks to the arrival of AEW on the big stage. KB’s Review: The All Out Four

It is pretty rare that you see a show getting the kind of nearly universal acclaim that AEW’s All Out 2021 is receiving. That show was a near masterpiece and one of the best shows I’ve seen in a very, very long time. Outside of some Takeovers, it might be the best show I’ve seen in about ten years or more. The interesting thing though is how few people are talking about the actual matches. That leaves a lot to talk about….and it is going to continue to be that way because we’re going to be talking about the really cool debuts. All Out was built around a huge card but the show ended with a pair of huge debuts. Those were the third and fourth debuts of the night and that is what will be remembered from the event. All of them open at least a bit of a door (level of forbiddenness may vary) and today we are going to look at each one of them today. Some of them are bigger than others, but each one deserves at least a look. Minoru Suzuki Is A Scary Human Being One of AEW’s major deals has b..

VIDEO: Two More Surprise Debuts At AEW All Out

Two for one. There are a lot of talented people on the AEW roster and a lot of that is due to the amount of places they draw their talent from. AEW has put together a very deep talent roster with several wrestlers from around the world and from different backgrounds. That was the case again this weekend, as AEW brought in two new wrestlers whose backgrounds could not be much difference. Two special debuts took place at All Out. First, Japanese legend Minoru Suzuki debuted and confronted Jon Moxley after Moxley defeated Satoshi Kojima. The two then got into a fight, resulting in Suzuki leaving Moxley laying. The two are now set to face each other during this week’s AEW Dynamite. Moxley had been suggesting that he wanted to face Suzuki for several weeks. Late r in the show, Ruby Soho, formerly known as Ruby Riott in WWE, debuted in the Casino Battle Royal, appearing as the match’s Joker. Soho would go on to win the match by last eliminating Thunder Rosa, thereby earning a future Women’..
