REVIEW: Elimination Chamber 2014: No He Can’t Just Yet

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Elimination Chamber 2014 Date: February 23, 2014 Location: Target Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota Commentators: John Bradshaw Layfield, Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole Tonight is the final big stop on the Road to Wrestlemania with six men possibly leaving with the WWE Championship. It’s actually a wide open field tonight with at least three people having a realistic shot at walking out with the belt. However there might be an even more interesting match on the card with the Wyatt Family vs. the Shield in a ..

WATCH: Vince McMahon’s Odd Appearance On SmackDown

He didn’t have much to say. The biggest wrestling story of the week has been the issue of an investigation into an alleged affair with McMahon paying $3 million to buy the woman’s silence. As a result, McMahon has stepped back from his role as WWE CEO and Chairman of the Board, but that is just on the business side of things. There was also a storyline issue to deal with, and WWE did that…kind of. McMahon opened this week’s edition of SmackDown in an appearance that had announced before the show went on the air. During his appearance, McMahon talked about how great it was to be in Minneapolis for the show before talking about how the WWE motto is “Then, Now, Forever, Together.” McMahon then welcomed us to SmackDown without saying anything else. He did not appear again for the rest of the night. The Boss speaks. Check out what McMahon had to say: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Well ok then. McMahon had almost nothing to say here, and that makes me wonder how lon..

SmackDown Results – June 17, 2022

Smackdown Date: June 17, 2022 Location: Target Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee Say it with me: and then everything changed. Vince McMahon has stepped back as WWE CEO and Chairman of the Board due to his affair but he is still going to show up this week for…something. I have no idea what that means but we also have Riddle challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Title. Let’s get to it. Here is Vince McMahon to open things up. He is glad to be here in Minnesota and talks about the Then, Now, Forever and Together WWE signature. Welcome to Smackdown. Then he leaves. Opening sequence. Here is Riddle to talk about his history with Roman Reigns. We get a highlight package on RKBro vs. the Bloodline and Riddle talks about how much he misses Randy Orton. Riddle dedicates the match to Orton and wants him back, even playing Voices. Happy Corbin vs. Madcap Moss This is the Last Laugh match, which doesn’t seem to be a stipulation. Corbin knocks him into ..

AEW Full Gear 2021 Live Coverage And Results

Full Gear 2021 Date: November 13, 2021 Location: Target Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur It’s time for what is likely going to be one of the best AEW shows in history as the card is stacked. AEW has shown that they can put together an awesome card and then deliver on the potential. I’m looking forward to more than a few things on the show and that is a great feeling to have. Let’s get to it. Buy-In: Thunder Rosa/Hikaru Shida vs. Nyla Rose/Jamie Hayter The four of them are matched up in the TBS Title tournament and Vickie Guerrero is here with Rose/Hayter. Rosa and Rose start things off with Rosa grabbing some rollups for two each. A basement dropkick has Rose staggered and it’s off to Shida for a running knee in the corner. It’s back to Rosa, who gets powered into the wrong corner though, meaning the stomping is on. Rosa manages to roll away and brings Shida back in to start striking away as Serena Deeb is watching from ringside. Hayte..

Another Former WWE Star Makes AEW Debut

Welcome to the club? There are a lot of wrestlers in the world today and there are a lot of them who have some kind of a connection to WWE. That is the grandest stage in the wrestling world and getting on one of their shows means quite a bit. It can open a lot of doors, and another former WWE star used that door to wrestle on another pretty big wrestling show this week. This week’s AEW Rampage featured the debut of former WWE star Ariya Daivari, who was wrestling in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Daivari lost to Dante Martin, who is also from Minneapolis. There is no word on if Daivari will be returning to AEW or if he has signed any deal with the company. Daivari was released from WWE on June 25, 2021 and has wrestled six matches since. Daivari is a talented star. Check out what he can bring to the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I’m not sure if Daivari is goi..

AEW Rampage Live Coverage And Results – November 12, 2021

Rampage Date: November 12, 2021 Location: Target Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Ricky Starks, Chris Jericho It’s the go home show for Full Gear but we still might get some changes, or at least a hard sell, for the show. Dynamite did that very well this week but maybe a bit more could make it even better. I’m not sure what to expect here, though Matt Hardy vs. Orange Cassidy in a lumberjack match is certainly a thing. Let’s get to it. Jungle Boy vs. Bobby Fish Jungle takes him down to start but Fish is right back with a pull off the ropes to bang up Jungle’s arm. Back in and Jungle chops away, only to be knocked outside with the arm being banged up again. A posting gets Jungle out of trouble but Fish takes him down again as we take a break. We come back with Fish staying on the arm but he charges into an overhead suplex into the corner. Jungle grabs a waistlock until he is sent shoulder first into the buckle. Fish grabs his own suplex for his own two in ..

AEW Confirms Two More Big Matches For Full Gear

Keep piling them on. We are just over a week away from AEW’s next pay per view offering with Full Gear, meaning the company shouldn’t have much left to do to get the show ready. AEW has a rather strong history on pay per view and it is nice to see how well they can do when they get the chance. That will be the case again now as more matches have been added to the show. Two more matches were added to Full Gear during this week’s AEW Rampage. First up, Eddie Kingston and CM Punk had a face to face confrontation, with both insulting the other. Kingston eventually challenged Punk to a match, with Punk accepting to set up the match. Later, Christian Cage and Jurassic Express challenged the Superkliq to a falls count anywhere match at Full Gear. The match was confirmed later in the night. Full Gear is set for November 13 in Minneapolis. It was a pretty big showdown. Check out how we got to these matches: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play]..

SmackDown Live Coverage And Results – July 30, 2021

Smackdown Date: July 30, 2021 Location: Target Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee We’re less than a month away from Summerslam and things have been getting interesting around here again. Last week, John Cena challenged Roman Reigns for Summerslam. That was a no, but Finn Balor issued his own challenge and got a yes. There is no word on when that takes place, but it should be pretty soon. Let’s get to it. Here is John Cena to get things going. We look at a recap of last week with Reigns, Cena and Balor, complete with Reigns’ missionary position line. Cena: “If you can find someone who can keep missionary position interesting for two decades, keep them in your life. It’s going to be worth it, I promise.” Cena talks about how he isn’t going to change anything and it wouldn’t make sense. Steve Austin wouldn’t come back as Sasquatch Steve Houston, or the Rock wouldn’t come back as Too Small Johnson. Cena: “Roman Reigns has to change every two years beca..

On the road again. The Coronavirus pandemic has changed the world in a huge way with the wrestling industry being shaken up as well. The biggest change has been the lack of fans being in the arenas. Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Monday Night Raw Date: December 21, 2015 Location: Target Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield, Byron Saxton It’s the Slammy Awards! Tonight is all about picking the best of the year, or at least whoever the fans pick as the best of the year. The big award is of course Superstar of the Year which is likely going to Roman Reigns again. The other major story though is fallout from last week’s World Title change, which likely means Stephanie going after Reigns. Let’s get to i..

Shawn Michaels Gets In Backstage Argument At Takeover

Fight for the rights of every man. The biggest story in the United States today, if not the world, is the advancement of the Black Lives Matter movement. Spurred on by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, a series of protests have sprung up with the hopes of bring about racial equality. That is something that has struck a chord with a lot of people, including a certain wrestling legend. There are very few wrestlers who have had the kind of career that Shawn Michaels has had. He was one of the biggest stars of the 1990s and certainly one of the most talented, but he was not exactly well received during that time. However, after coming back to the ring in 2002, Michaels seemed to be a changed man with a completely different philosophy. It was no longer all about him, and that was on display over the weekend. According to Fightful Select by way of 411mania.com, Michaels got into a debate backstage with an unnamed WWE producer at this weekend’s NXT Takeover: In Your House over syste..

Cesaro: “I Think Every Person That Brings a Beach Ball Into a WWE Arena Should Get Ejected for Life”

Cesaro was recently interviewed by City Pages to promote WWE’s upcoming show in Minneapolis, Minnesota this Friday. He discussed a number of topics, including Tag Team wrestling, beach balls, his place in the company and more. Below are some questions, along with the “Swiss Superstar’s” answers: CP: You’re a record five-time WWE Raw Tag Team Champion, and before coming to WWE, you were renowned for your work in the indies as a tag team specialist. Why is it that you excel in tag team wrestling specifically? Cesaro: I’m really good, and I bring the best out of every single person in the ring. Especially my tag team partners. CP: How is the mentality different when you’re wrestling in a tag team versus in singles competition? Cesaro: You have to depend on somebody the whole time as well. You can’t be selfish and just worry about yourself because there’s somebody else with you. Of course, it’s an added benefit when you have someone like Sheamus, who is a world-class Superstar, with yo..
