Wrestling is an over the top industry that is built around the idea of people doing things that you would never see anyone do otherwise. It might not make sense in the real world but it makes sense here, and that is the kind of thing that has an appeal to fans. At the same time, the wrestlers go through all kinds of things that others go through every day, and now one is talking about a very serious incident. NXT star Amari Miller posted a video to TikTok seemingly revealing that she attempted to end her life one week ago. Miller also posted a message to her TikTok, talking about the struggles of mental health and sharing her story because she wanted people to know they are not alone. Miller debuted in NXT in June 2021 and has been a semi-regular on NXT LVL Up. WWE has not commented on the situation. Here is Miller’s full message, courtesy of SportSKeeda.com: “Everything isn’t what it seems, mental health is hard, we should all speak out even though I know it’s hard, you are loved, f..
Impact Wrestling Date: December 22, 2022 Location: Charles F. Dodge City Center, Pembroke Pines, Florida Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt We’re still getting closer to Hard To Kill and now it seems that a Tommy Dreamer vs. Bully Ray showdown is imminent. If there is one thing that this company has loved over the years, it is pushing the heck out of former ECW stars. Other than that, Jordynne Grace is getting ready to face Mickie James in what should be a heck of a pay per view Knockouts Title match. Let’s get to it. Opening recap. Opening sequence. Knockouts Tag Team Titles: Deonna Purrazzo/Gisele Shaw vs. Death Dollz The Death Dollz (with Taya Valkyrie) are defending and Jai Vidal is here with Purrazzo and Shaw. Jessicka powers out of a wristlock to start and then shoves her down again, meaning it’s time for Shaw to try. Shaw gets powered into the corner for a splash and it’s already off to Rosemary. The Upside Down has Shaw in trouble but Purrazzo kicks Rosemary from..
Hold tight because the show is not over. There is a lot taking place at any given television taping, with the things that you see on the show not being anywhere near everything that happens. Live fans will often get to see something extra and that can be some of the most entertaining parts of the show. That might have been the situation this week, as a major star had something to say when the cameras went off. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Keep It Going: AEW Adds Two More Title Matches To Full Gear The closing segment of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Maxwell Jacob Friedman square off with Jon Moxley before their World Title match at Full Gear this coming Saturday. Following the end of the show, Friedman asked AEW President Tony Khan to come to the ring. After promising not to shake Khan down for money, Friedman asked the fans if they loved wrestling. Friedman asked the fans who they were there to see and the fans chanted Friedman’s name. He went on to praise Khan for offering fan..
Believe. WWE is beginning a special event in the month of November that commemorates the 10-year anniversary of Roman Reigns and Seth “Freakin” Rollins making their debut with the company. From WWE.com: Ten years ago this month, the WWE Universe was first introduced to two Superstars who would go on to change the face of sports-entertainment, Roman Reigns and Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Alongside their Shield teammate Dean Ambrose, Reigns and Rollins emerged from the crowd on Nov. 18, 2012, to interrupt the main event of that year’s Survivor Series, setting in motion two careers that have forever since been intertwined. Since that seminal night, The Head of the Table and The Visionary have become nothing short of WWE’s standard-bearers. They’ve won World Championships (including Reigns’ currently held Undisputed WWE Universal Title), headlined WWE’s biggest Premium Live Events and consistently been the talk of the WWE Universe, both as beloved fan-favorites and controversial rulebreake..
He had a reason. There have been very few success stories in wrestling like that of Bryan Danielson. Just looking at him, there is little reason to believe that he would become a star. That is just what Danielson has done though, as he has become one of the most successful names in wrestling history. There were some darker times to his career though, and now he has revealed a rather interesting story. Danielson appeared on the Sessions podcast during Starrcast over the weekend and revealed that he was actively trying to get fired from WWE while appearing on Talking Smack. This would include various innuendos and jokes that he was told not to make, including about James Ellsworth’s anatomy. Danielson appeared on the show during his retirement from WWE due to a series of injuries which kept him from wrestling. Opinion: It’s a weird thing to say but I can get why Danielson was trying something like this. The situation he was in left him employed but not doing what he loved, which can ma..
You have to cover it. The biggest wrestling story of the year has been the investigation into Vince McMahon’s alleged affair and the resulting payment to cover it up. McMahon has stepped back from his role as WWE CEO and Chairman of the Board, with his daughter Stephanie taking his place. That puts Stephanie in charge and now she has had to cover a big part of her new job. According to PWInsider.com, WWE held an all hands on deck meeting earlier this week to address the Vince ordeal. Stephanie talked about the investigation, saying she loved Vince and would be doing everything she could for WWE going forward. This is one of several meetings that Stephanie has been a part of in Vince’s place since she took over his role with the company. Opinion: This is something that Stephanie was going to have to do but it still feels so strange. While I don’t entirely buy the idea that Vince is no longer in charge of everything behind the scenes, having Stephanie as the official voice backstage is..
It had been previously reported that Jeff Hardy was recently arrested in Volusia County, Florida, on charges of driving on a suspended license, violating restrictions placed on a driver’s license, and driving under the influence. Tony Khan has released the following statement regarding Hardy’s status with AEW: “We were able to resume contact with Jeff Hardy this afternoon. AEW does not condone Jeff’s alleged behavior. We’ve made it clear to Jeff that we’ll assist him in getting treatment for substance abuse issues, which he has indicated that he’s open to receiving. In the interim, he is suspended without pay, and he can only return to AEW upon successfully completing treatment and maintaining his sobriety,” Khan’s statement said. “If you or a loved one needs help, please reach out to SAMHSA’s National Helpline: 1-800-662-HELP (4357).” pic.twitter.com/pDJA55cyaN — Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) June 14, 2022 Unfortunately, this is not the first time this type of offense has occurred; Hard..
It deserves some praise. Every so often, you see a match that catches your attention for all of the right reasons. The whole thing comes together so well that it is impossible to not like it for almost every possible aspect. Those are the matches that will be remembered for a long time to come and now it has happened again, with even WWE getting in on the match’s praise. The main event of this Sunday’s Hell In A Cell pay per view saw Cody Rhodes defeat Seth Rollins in the show’s namesake match. Rhodes wrestled the match with a torn pectoral muscle, leaving him injured throughout. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, those at WWE’s Gorilla position were said to have “loved” the match and seen it as a modern classic, which WWE will treat it as going forward. I’ve had multiple sources reach out this morning w/ exemplary words for the performance Cody Rhodes put in last night. Credit to Seth Rollins as well. Those at Gorilla were said to have LOVED the match. A modern day, all ..
That’s an interesting explanation. WrestleMania 38 has come and gone and there were a lot of major moments throughout the show. The event took over the course of two nights and that meant several memorable events were able to take place. Some of these involved surprises and betrayals, and now we know the thinking behind one of those changes, even if it is a bit odd. One of the surprises at WrestleMania 38 saw the Miz turn on Logan Paul after the two of them defeated the Mysterios. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, part of Paul’s deal was that he would wind up being a babyface when he his time in WWE was up. Miz attacking Paul was designed to cause the turn. There is no word on if Paul will be returning to WWE in the future. Opinion: I’m not sure how well this plan is going to work but at least there was an idea in place. Paul is not known for being a likable guy and he spent the entire match mocking the beloved Eddie Guerrero. It is going to take something bigger than Miz beatin..
He’ll be sticking around. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the WWE roster and some of them have some rather distinct purposes. While most people signed are active wrestlers, there are others who are there more as a way to help promote the company. These are names you might remember from years past, and now you might be hearing from another one more often. Hurricane Helms, also known as the Hurricane, has announced that he has signed a Legends Deal with WWE, tweeting that it officially makes him old. Helms has worked for WWE on and off over the years, both as a wrestler and as an agent. He last wrestled for WWE in the 2021 Royal Rumble and has otherwise retired from in-ring competition. Helms does still make occasional cameo appearances on WWE television. I signed a WWE Legends deal so I guess that makes it official… I’m old. ??? — Hurricane Helms (@ShaneHelmsCom) March 24, 2022 Opinion: It’s cool to see something like this happen as Helms is one of those beloved stars from yea..
And that’s the bottom line. Earlier this week, Kevin Owens invited “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to be a guest on a special edition of the “KO Show” at WrestleMania 38. It would appear that The Rattlesnake has given his response. WWE has released the following video, indicating that Austin has accepted Owens’ offer and will see him in Dallas, Texas on the Grandest Stage of them all. You can see the video below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: Still reeling after he and Seth Rollins lost in their Raw Tag Team Title Triple Threat Match earlier in the evening on the March 7 edition of Raw, a defiant Owens reemerged before the WWE Universe with an epiphany. Owens called out “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and shared his desire to deliver a Stunner the world would never forget to the WWE Hall of Famer, whom he called a “broken-down shell of his former self.” In response to Owens, “Stone Cold” released a video the following day from his beloved Texas and declared that he..
His legacy will never rest in peace. WWE has announced that The Undertaker will officially be inducted into the Hall of Fame as the inaugural member of the class of 2022. From WWE.com: First introduced at 1990’s Survivor Series, The Demon of Death Valley was soon battling with Hulk Hogan, then at the top of the food chain in WWE. This clash set the tone for Undertaker’s dominant career. No one was too big, and no one was safe from his gloved grip. A multi-time WWE and World Heavyweight Champion, a seven-time tag team titleholder, and a Royal Rumble Match winner in 2007, Undertaker has cemented his place among the greatest in the game. A true in-ring pioneer, he was part of many WWE firsts, including the first-ever Casket Match at Survivor Series 1992, the first-ever Buried Alive Match in 1996, and the inaugural Hell in a Cell Match in 1997. But there was one achievement that stood out above all others that is unlikely to ever be topped. Since WrestleMania VII in 1991, The Undertake..
I’d think he has earned it. There are certain wrestlers who do not seem to age no matter how long they have been around. It can make for some amazing moments when they continue to hang in there year after year. That is the case with a few modern legends and another of them turned back the clock again earlier this week. It was good enough for a rather nice treat. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured a main event of Sting and Darby Allin teaming up to defeat the Acclaimed. Sting wrestled a majority of the match on his own as Allin was attacked before the bell. Following the show, AEW President Tony Khan came to the ring to pay tribute to Sting, talking about how much he loved wrestling and could still do it. Sting spoke as well, talking about Allin and how he felt as good as he did back in 1997. Sting ended the night with his It’s Showtime catchphrase. It was a great moment. Check out what happened after this week’s Dynamite ended: [This post contains video, click to play] O..
That sounds like a plan. Wrestlers often have a hard time finding a way out of the industry when they retire. If they have spent a majority of their adult life in the wrestling business, it can be difficult to figure out a way to move on. There are some spots available in the wrestling world after their careers are over though and now one modern legend is interested in taking one of those spots. AJ Styles has spent the last few weeks in NXT, dealing with Grayson Waller. Styles defeated Waller in a match this week on NXT and seemed to wrap up his time on the show. In a video posted to WWE’s YouTube page, Styles said that he loved his time in NXT and could see himself becoming a coach or a trainer in NXT after his career is over. Styles said the wrestlers are eager to learn, which he sees as a positive sign going forward. There is no word on when Styles plans to retire from the ring. This could be a good thing. Check out Styles’ statement, his time in NXT, and some of his greatness: [..
We have some sad news to report today as WWE Hall of Famer, Blackjack Lanza, has passed away at the age of 86. From WWE.com: [Blackjack] Jack Lanza was a man’s man, respected and beloved by all. He loved and worked for WWE for many years. His loyalty and dedication will never be forgotten. Also from WWE.com: The Blackjacks were one of the most infamous and merciless tag teams ever. They were two tough Texans who could back up their intimidating look with relentless offense and rule-breaking. Blackjack Mulligan was a brutish 6-foot-9, 340-pound native of Sweetwater. In addition to many regional championships, Mulligan was NWA World Tag Team Champion (with Ric Flair), NWA United States Heavyweight Champion and NWA World Heavyweight champion, defeating WWE Hall of Famer Bobo Brazil. Mulligan also had many memorable battles with WWE Hall of Famer Andre the Giant, as well as matches with Pedro Morales and Bruno Sammartino. Jack Lanza, with his devastating Iron Claw, was mean and sadis..
Smackdown Date: November 5, 2021 Location: Ford Center, Evansville, Indiana Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee We’re just over two weeks away from Survivor Series and it might be time to start talking about the show. Since it absolutely has to be Raw vs. Smackdown, it shouldn’t be that hard to get things going. The show almost has to be better than last week’s so at least they have a clear bar to clear. Let’s get to it. Here is the Bloodline to get things going. Roman Reigns talks about taking last week off after smashing Brock Lesnar, but now he’s back so this tiny little no name town can acknowledge him. He was on a private island running around naked last week (his wife loved it), but not everyone had a good time. Brock Lesnar got fined a million bucks, but there was one more thing. Reigns asks Paul Heyman what happened to the Usos, with Heyman talking about how it was a non-title match. When flat out asked though, Heyman has to admit that the New Day won the match. Reigns li..
What a weird reaction. There are certain wrestlers who are nothing short of beloved by their peers and you can see how much these wrestlers mean to others. It can often lead to some issues involving one wrestler protecting another. That can be even more ferocious if a wrestler is gone and unable to defend themselves, which might have been the case this week in a strange way. This week, Samuray del Sol, formerly known as Kalisto, made his AEW debut on Dynamite. Del Sol sent out a tweet, saying that he spoke to John (Brodie Lee, real name Jon Huber, who passed away in December 2020) before his match, asking for strength in his match. Chris Jericho responded, saying that del Sol spelled Huber’s name wrong. Huber’s widow Amanda sent out a gif agreeing with Jericho before arguing with fans over del Sol’s mistake. Later, del Sol would send out a tweet apologizing to Jericho. There is no word on if del Sol will be back in AEW. You spelled his name wrong. https://t.co/5xMymtqfzd — Chris Jer..
I hope that he gets better really soon. According to a series of tweets from AEW President and CEO Tony Khan, Jon Moxley will be taking some time away from professional wrestling and entering an inpatient alcohol treatment program. Khan tweeted out the following in regards to Moxley: Jon Moxley has allowed me to share with you that he is entering an inpatient alcohol treatment program. Jon is a beloved member of the AEW family. We all stand with him and Renee, and all of his family and friends, as he shifts his focus to recovery. Jon is making a very brave choice to get help, and we’re embracing his choice and supporting him however we can. I’m proud to call Jon a friend, and like many of you, I’m also a fan of Mox and look forward to a time in the future when he is eventually ready to return to the ring. Until then, thank you for supporting Jon and respecting his privacy at this time. If you or a loved one need help, please reach out to SAMHSA’s National Helpline: 1-800-662-HELP ..
