AEW Dynamite Results – March 8, 2023

Dynamite Date: March 8, 2023 Location: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, California Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Tony Schiavone We’re done with Revolution and that means it is time to start getting ready for Double Or Nothing. That show is only two and a half months away so AEW actually needs to put some things together a little bit faster here. Other than that, we have a lot of fallout to get through so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. All-Atlantic Title: Orange Cassidy vs. Jay Lethal Cassidy is defending and everyone is sent to the back to start. Cassidy takes him down with an armdrag but gets reversed into a rollup for two. Back in and Lethal counters the tornado DDT but can’t get the Figure Four. They go outside with Lethal’s shoulder getting posted before going back inside, where he crotches Cassidy on top. It’s right back to the floor, with Cassidy’s leg being sent into the post and we take a break. Back with Cassidy winning a slugout and grabbing a suplex. Cassidy’s top rope D..

Homecoming: Two Surprise Returns Take Place At AEW Dynamite

They’re back. There are all kinds of ways to present stars in wrestling and sometimes the best way is after a break. Occasionally a wrestler just needs some time away from the fans to get freshened up a bit and let something new come in. That can make for some very fun returns, and now we have seen a pair of them take place after it seemed that their time was done. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Other Side: MJF Allegedly Said He’s “Looking Forward To Being” In WWE In 2024 The Gunns retained the AEW World Tag Team Titles in a four way match at Revolution, defeating the Acclaimed, Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal, and Orange Cassidy and Danhausen. Following the match, FTR returned to lay out the Gunns. This was the first AEW appearance for FTR since January, as the team had said they would be taking time off until their contracts expired in April. According to PWInsider.com, FTR is believed to have long term deals with AEW, with the hiatus being just part of a storyline. FTR is a heck of a tea..

He’s In: Reigning Champion Officially Signs With AEW

Welcome to the team. AEW has built up a varied roster over the years, with several wrestlers who have been brought together from around the world. You get to see all kinds of wrestlers who you might have seen before but not always on this size of a stage. Now AEW has officially brought in another star, who has been around for a very long time but in a bit of a different way. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They’re Back: Full Details Of Ring Of Honor TV Relaunch, Including Return Date AEW has announced that Mark Briscoe has officially signed with the company. Briscoe, one half of the reigning Ring Of Honor Tag Team Champions, made his AEW debut last month in a tribute match against Jay Lethal in tribute to his recently departed brother Jay. This week’s edition of Dynamite saw Mark defeat Josh Woods in his first traditional match on AEW television. Mark Briscoe earned his second win on TBS on #AEWDynamite tonight, and now it's official: Mark Briscoe is All Elite! Congratulations @SussexC..

AEW Dynamite Results – February 15, 2023

Dynamite Date: February 15, 2023 Location: Sames Auto Arena, Laredo, Texas Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz We are less than a month away from Revolution and as of last week, we officially have a main event. Bryan Danielson earned his title shot against MJF, which will come in the form of a sixty minute iron man match. With that out of the way, the rest of the card needs to be built up so let’s get to it. In Memory of Jerry Jarrett. Jeff Jarrett/Jay Lethal/Sonjay Dutt/Satnam Singh vs. Orange Cassidy/Billy Gunn/Acclaimed Bowens runs Lethal over to start and it’s off to Caster for two off a powerslam. Jarrett comes in and drops Caster before handing it off to Singh. Gunn, who almost a foot shorter than Singh, wants to come in but it’s Cassidy coming in instead. Actually it’s Dutt getting Cassidy instead……or actually make that Billy vs. Jeff. Cue the Gunns to mock the scissoring before telling various people to suck it. Lethal gets in a knee to the back to take Billy down ..

The Other Side: There Is Another Reason The Briscoes Were Not Allowed On AEW TV

There is more to it than that. Sadly, one of the biggest wrestling stories of the year so far has been the death of Jay Briscoe last week due to a car crash. The wrestling world has poured out tribute after tribute to Briscoe, including a special match this week on Dynamite with his brother Mark defeating Jay Lethal. It was the first time a Briscoe appeared on AEW TV and now we know a bit more about why. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It Happened Again: Another AEW Star Out Of Action With An Injury The main reason the Briscoes were not allowed on AEW TV was a series of homophobic tweets that Jay sent out in 2011-2013. However, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, in addition to the tweets, Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) did not want the Briscoes on AEW TV due to their use of the Confederate flag earlier in their careers. AEW’s contract with WBD also possibly gave WBD to ban anyone from an AEW event, which prevented the Briscoes from appearing on AEW pay per views despite Tony Kha..

AEW Dynamite Results – January 25, 2023

Dynamite Date: January 25, 2023 Location: Rupp Arena, Lexington, Kentucky Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz This is going to be an emotional one as the main event will feature the Jay Briscoe Tribute match between Mark Briscoe and Jay Lethal. If that’s not enough, we’re still on the way to Revolution and that means Bryan Danielson gets to wrestle again. This time he has to find a way around Brian Cage, which is quite the different opponent than he has had in recent weeks. Other than that, the Gunns and the Acclaimed are going to have family therapy, which could go in a few different ways. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Chris Jericho/Sammy Guevara vs. Action Andretti/Ricky Starks We are joined in the middle of Jericho’s entrance (including Daniel Garcia). Andretti and Guevara start things off and exchange some flips without being able to make a ton of contact. Andretti’s standing moonsault misses and they stare at each other for a bit. Guevara offers a handshake and th..

AEW Honors Jay Briscoe In Dynamite’s Main Event

They will always be Dem Boys. Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured a tribute to Jay Briscoe, as his brother Mark, made his AEW debut against their longtime friend and rival, Jay Lethal. This tribute match came just over a week after Jay Briscoe passed away in a car accident at the age of 38. Ironically, the show also happened to be taking place on what would have been Jay’s 39th birthday. The finish of the match came when Mark Briscoe connected with The Froggy Bow through the timekeeper’s table. He then rolled Lethal into the ring, and after a series of maneuvers, Briscoe planted Lethal with The Jay Driller to pick up the victory. Following the match, the entire AEW locker room came on stage and gave a round of applause to both competitors. Several of them also hugged Lethal as he came up to the top of the entrance ramp. You can see a couple of videos of the tribute below: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Editor’s Opinio..

AEW Dynamite Results – January 18, 2023

Dynamite Date: January 18, 2023 Location: Save Mart Center, Fresno, California Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz We’re about six weeks away from Revolution and that means Bryan Danielson is still on the road to getting his Iron Man match with MJF for the World Title. Other than that, Orange Cassidy is defending the All-Atlantic Title against Jay Lethal and Ricky Starks continues his issues with the Jericho Appreciation Society. Let’s get to it. In Memory Of Jay Briscoe. All-Atlantic Title: Jay Lethal vs. Orange Cassidy Cassidy is defending and there are no seconds, though here are Jeff Jarrett, Satnam Singh and Sonjay Dutt through the crowd to take fans’ seats. They start fast with Cassidy grabbing a small package and backslide for two each before Lethal knocks him outside. Cue Danhausen, who is now an usher, demanding to see Jarrett and company’s tickets. Because reasons, they hand them over, and Danhausen waves over the Best Friends (with concessions) to sit behind them..

Triple Shot: Three Big New Matches Added To AEW Full Gear Card

The card gets bigger. AEW does not have quite the same pay per view schedule as WWE. Instead of a major event every month, AEW presents one every three months or so. While there are a few other shows, the company is built around four major events. We are less than two weeks away from the next offering, and now we know a lot more about what is coming on the show. Three more matches were added to AEW Full Gear this week on Dynamite. First up, Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal will team up against Darby Allin and Sting, following Jarrett and Lethal attacking Allin the previous week. Second, Saraya will return to the ring for the first time in nearly five years to face Britt Baker. Finally, Jade Cargill will defend her TBS Title against Nyla Rose, who has stolen the title belt. Full Gear takes place on November 19. Opinion: This is the kind of night that Full Gear needed, as the card went from five matches to eight in two hours. That should be quite the boost for the show, which now feels like..

Jeff Jarrett’s New Executive Role In AEW

The Chosen One has been chosen. On tonight’s episode of Dynamite, Jeff Jarrett made his return to professional wrestling, debuting in AEW. He attacked Darby Allin with a guitar and allied himself with Jay Lethal and his crew. But what is Jarrett’s role in the company? Tony Khan took to Twitter to answer this question, sharing that Jarrett has been hired as the new Director of Business Development for AEW. This is in addition to whatever future roles he may have on-screen with the company. Welcome to #AEWDynamite to the new AEW Director of Business Development @RealJeffJarrett. I look forward to expanding the @AEW live events calendar in 2023 + in future years with JJ, @rmorfnyc, @mookieghana and our entire great AEW team. Jeff Jarrett is All Elite! pic.twitter.com/CSncHam8U0 — Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) November 3, 2022 Jarrett had recently been named Senior Vice President of Live Events for WWE back in May of 2022. In addition to this role, he was a special guest referee at SummerSl..

AEW Dynamite Results – November 2, 2022

Dynamite Date: November 2, 2022 Location: Chesapeake Arena, Baltimore, Maryland Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz We are less than three weeks away from Full Gear and just over a month away from Ring Of Honor Final Battle so we are going to be in for some pretty important moments over the next few weeks. The big story coming into this week continues to be MJF, who seems to be teasing one heck of a face turn. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Darby Allin vs. Jay Lethal They start fast on the floor with Allin mounting him and hammering away despite his taped up ribs. The bell rings and they get inside, with Allin hitting a running crossbody out to the floor. Cue Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh with the latter deterring Allin from a dive, allowing Lethal to monkey flip Allin ribs first into the steps. Lethal puts him under the barricade and puts on the Figure Four before kicking at the leg on the apron. A German suplex on the apron rocks Allin and we take a break. Back with L..

12 Time World Champion Makes Surprise AEW Debut On Dynamite

That’s a surprise. AEW has come a long way in a short amount of time and a lot of that has to do with its roster. The company has put together a roster with wrestlers who are a mixture of current stars, young up and comers and veterans. The company does a lot to build up its roster and now they have added another former multiple time World Champion to the roster. Former NWA and Impact Wrestling World Champion Jeff Jarrett made his AEW debut this week on Dynamite, joining forces with Jay Lethal and company. Jarrett attacked Darby Allin after a loss to Lethal, which came after Cole Carter helped Lethal defeat Allin. With Allin down, Jarrett said that Sting was Allin’s greatest weakness and blamed the AEW fans for ruining wrestling. There is no word on how what kind of a deal Jarrett has with AEW or what he will be doing with the company. Opinion: This is certainly a strange way to go but the interesting thing is adding another pretty big name to AEW. Jarrett is a World Champion and som..

More Details On Ricky Steamboat’s Return To The Ring

That would be big. There are a lot of ways to wrap up a wrestling career and some of them can be very respectful for everyone involved. Every wrestler wants to go out on a high note but sometimes they will also want to prove that they still have what it takes to be in the ring, even one more time. That is what a legend is going to be doing later this year and now we know a bit more about the match. Earlier this year, it was announced that Ricky The Dragon Steamboat would be wrestling his final match later this year for Big Time Wrestling in Raleigh, North Carolina. The promotion has now announced that the match will be a six man tag, featuring Steamboat and FTR taking on Jay Lethal, Brock Anderson and a mystery partner, with Arn Anderson managing the team. The show takes place on November 27. It's the "Return of the Dragon" on Sunday, November 27 at the Dorton Arena in Raleigh, NC! RICKY "The Dragon" STEAMBOAT & FTR vs. ARN ANDERSON's team of BLACK MACHISMO, BROCK ANDERSO..

AEW Battle Of The Belts III Results

Battle Of The Belts III Date: August 6, 2022 Location: Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Michigan Commentators: Taz, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone It’s time for another of these specials and I’m not sure what to expect from something like this. AEW does not seem to be the most interested in running these shows but that very well might have a lot to do with the shows being network mandates. At least we should get some good action so let’s get to it. TNT Title: Jay Lethal vs. Wardlow Lethal, with Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh, is challenging. Wardlow shoves him around to start and a big toss sends Lethal outside. Lethal gets in a cheap shot though and scores with an enziguri back inside. A tilt-a-whirl slam gets Wardlow out of trouble but Lethal knocks him outside for the suicide dive. That means Lethal can get in the strut before wrapping Wardlow’s leg around the post. We take a break and come back with Lethal having to escape the powerbomb. Instead Wardlow goes with a clothesline to turn Let..

Ric Flair May Be Hinting At Wrestling Again THIS WEEKEND

Again? There are certain wrestlers who stand out even in a crowd of legends and those are the names that are going to be the most remembered. Unfortunately some of them are known for some more negatives than positives, and that might be true in this case. Now we might be seeing someone changing their mind on what seemed to be a definitive decision about his career. Last weekend, Ric Flair wrestled his last match when he teamed with his son in law Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. Following the match, Flair said that he was officially retired. However, Flair has tweeted that he and El Idolo will be “back at it again” at WWC Anniversario 49 in Puerto Rico, with a photo of them from the tag match. Flair was previously announced as being in El Idolo’s corner against Carlito. To be clear, there is nothing definitive about Flair wrestling and he may just be hyping up his previously advertised appearance. We’re The Dirtiest Players In The Game! @AndradeElIdolo & The Na..

Ric Flair’s Last Match Comes Close To All Time Record Attendance And Gate Revenue

That’s quite the number. While AEW and WWE get the most attention in the wrestling world, they are certainly not alone. There are all kinds of other promotions, some of which have television or web series that you see on a regular basis. At the same time, there are other places where it is a bit harder to find them, and one such one off show did something very impressive. Last weekend, Jim Crockett Promotions was brought back for one night only to present Ric Flair’s Last Match. The show featured Ric Flair wrestling for the last time, teaming with Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the event drew 6,800 fans and a gate of $448,502, both of which are the second highest results in independent wrestling history, behind All Out’s 10,541 fans and $458,525 gate. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that you do not see happen very often but well done for Flair for having such a well received show. Flair may not have the best ..

AEW Dynamite Results – August 3, 2022

Dynamite Date: August 3, 2022 Location: Schottenstein Center, Columbus, Ohio Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, Taz We’re rapidly coming up on All Out but first we need to get through this weekend’s Battle Of The Belts, which is apparently a thing that is happening. So far there is one match announced and that means we will probably get the rest of the card announced. Whether that is in rapid fire or with more traditional announcements remains to be seen, but Excalibur is probably warming up his throat. Let’s get to it. Jay Lethal vs. Orange Cassidy Cassidy rolls him up to start and knocks Lethal up the ramp, setting up the lazy kicks. Lethal crawls away but it’s Satnam Singh waiting at the top of the ramp. Cue the Best Friends, with Trent on Taylor’s shoulders, to be taller than Singh, who leaves for no logical reason. With that HILARIOUS visual gag out of the way, we get back in and Cassidy hits a high crossbody but the tornado DDT is countered into a dragon screw legwhip. Ca..

Call It A Win: Medical Update On Ric Flair Following His Last Match

That could have been worse. There are legends in wrestling and then there are people like Ric Flair. After a career that has spanned the better part of fifty years, Flair was finally ready to hang it up after this weekend’s appropriately titled Ric Flair’s Last Match event. Flair has been training for months, but there is only so much that can be done at 73 years old. The match has taken place, and now we know a bit about how he is doing. Flair teamed with Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett in his final match, which saw him busted open. According to PWInsider.com, Flair was immediately checked out by two doctors backstage and was said to be “great” after the match. Flair also said that he was starving and wanted to get something to eat as he headed out on the town for the evening. Opinion: As disturbing as it is, Flair’s health was the thing people were talking about the most coming into the match so hearing that he is ok is great to see. At the same time, Flair g..

AEW Rampage Results – July 29, 2022

Rampage Date: July 29, 2022 Location: DCU Center, Worcester, Massachusetts Commentators: Excalibur, Chris Jericho, Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross It’s another night of Fight For The Fallen, which went very well on Wednesday so maybe they can keep it up here. You never know what that might mean but the more star power this show can have, the better it is going to be. I’m not sure what that is going to be this week, but Rampage can be quite fun. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Best Friends vs. Satnam Singh/Jay Lethal/Sonjay Dutt Dutt is still in his suit, complete with pencil behind his ear. Trent and Lethal start things off with Trent countering la majistral into a cradle for two. That means a standoff and the fans seem pleased. Cassidy comes in (under the bottom rope) and gets Dutt, who takes off his jacket and tie, which he hands to the referee. Jericho: “That’s a $5000 suit he’s wrestling in!” Ross: “You really believe that?” Jericho: “Well it’s wrestling.” Cassidy puts his sunglass..
