He’s on their radar. The introduction of AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works. Following decades of WWE dominating the industry, a new major promotion is now offering wrestlers another place to go. That can lead to some battles to land talent, and now we might be seeing that again with a very talented star who has recently appeared on AEW television. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Kingly: Great News On Jerry Lawler’s Health Following Stroke Earlier this month, AEW presented its annual Face of the Revolution ladder match, which included AAA star Komander. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE contacted Komander both before and after he took part in the match. While WWE did not offer him a contract, they wanted to bring him in for a meeting. There is no word on if the meeting took place or if AEW is interested in signing him. Wardlow then went on to defend the title against Powerhouse Hobbs this week on Dynamite after Hobbs won the Face of the Revolution ladder match to earn a title shot. Hobbs went on to win the title with the help of QT Marshall, winning his first title in AEW. The loss ends Wardlow’s reign at three days, the shortest in the title’s history. This was a big deal. Dynamite Date: March 1, 2023 Location: Cow Palace, San Francisco, California Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz It’s the go home Dynamite for Revolution and that means we have a stacked show. This time around that includes the Face of the Revolution ladder match plus a Casino tag team battle royal to determine the fourth team in Sunday’s four way Tag Team Title match. That should be more than enough to carry the show so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. All-Atlantic Title: Orange Cassidy vs. Big Bill Bill, with Stokely Hathaway, is challenging. Cassidy gets backed to the floor to start and the chase is on, with Cassidy messing with Bill’s mind. With nothing else working, Cassidy even steals Stokely’s glasses before tumbling away from Bill. Back in and the tornado DDT is countered into a side slam to plant Cassidy for the first time. So I guess he’s done? With so many wrestlers on the AEW roster, it can be difficult to figure out a way to stand out. The wrestlers are talented and there are all kinds of people who can do a variety of things, but only a few are able to connect with the audience in a special way. One of the more popular wrestlers with that ability might not be around the company for a little while. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured a Face Of The Revolution ladder match with eight stars. Early in the match, Eddie Kingston and Ortiz brawled off with commentary saying they had to be separated. Following the show, AEW aired a video, showing Kingston being interviewed. Elimination Chamber 2023 Date: February 18, 2023 Location: Bell Center, Montreal, Quebec, Canada Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves It’s the last major stop on the Road To Wrestlemania and this is all going to be about Sami Zayn vs. Roman Reigns. In spite of the show’s title, the Elimination Chamber matches are far, far down the ladder in importance from the main event, which should have one of the most electric atmospheres WWE has seen in years. Let’s get to it. The opening video looks at the Chamber matches, before shifting to the Zayn vs. Reigns main event. That’s a special place. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and that adds up to quite a bit of talent. It takes a lot for someone to move up the ladder and reach the top of the pile but you know someone special when you see them. Now WWE is seeing something in one of its stars and thinks enough of them to put them above most of the roster all at once. There is also no word on if Reigns will be feuding with Wyatt anytime soon, as Reigns is said to know that people who feud with Wyatt wind up looking “a lot worse than going in”. AEW knows how to bring it on the bigger stages and that is what should happen here. Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page They go right to the fighting with Page sending him into the corner for a running boot to the face. Page forearms him down but Moxley fights up and starts the swagger. He was the new guy. One of the most difficult things for a wrestling promotion to do is elevate new stars into the main event scene. It is something that has to be done every now and then though, no matter how tricky it might be. The right wrestler has to be found in order to make it work, but even then there could be some issues. Now we know how things went a bit off when a new star was elevated. During an appearance on Out Of Character with Ryan Satin, Sheamus talked about how he was received backstage after winning the WWE Title from John Cena at Tables, Ladders And Chairs 2009. Sheamus had only been on WWE TV for about five and a half months when he won the title and said that nobody was very excited over what happened. Instead, Sheamus had backstage heat from some of the wrestlers who had been around for years and never got that kind of opportunity.
