Another one for the history books. This past Sunday at NXT Deadline, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods captured the NXT tag team championships by defeating Pretty Deadly. While this was a great moment for The New Day, this championship victory was also historic in a number of ways. As a result of their victory, Kingston broke the record for the most tag team championships in WWE history with 15. The previous record was held by Booker T, who had 14 championship reigns. That’s a specific list. Wrestling is a visual medium, as stars are going to need to look a certain way to make fans want to see what they are doing. This can come in a variety of ways and WWE is known for caring about appearance more than a lot of other things. That can create some issues, and now WWE has made a rule about a specific change of appearance for some wrestlers. According to Fightful Select, WWE has issued a list of wrestlers allowed to get haircuts, which has leaked online. This list is wrestlers whose haircuts have been approved in advance, though there is nothing to suggest that wrestlers not listed are not allowed to have their hair cut in general. Who are you again? There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and several of them have names that are going to be well known among fans. However, WWE will occasionally make changes to those names, often for reasons that don’t seem clear on the surface. That seems to be the case again, as a wrestler has lost a moniker that he won not so very long ago. WWE has changed King Woods’ name back to his old name of Xavier Woods, as per Woods’ WWE.com profile. The name change comes after Woods returned under the King name last week on SmackDown for his match against Ridge Holland. There is no word on why the name change was made. Woods won the 2021 King of the Ring tournament to earn his new name and turned it into an aspect of his personality, including knighting partner Kofi Kingston. However, that does not seem to be the case, as there are several wrestlers still without a match on the show. WWE still has some time to set things up, but now they might need to change their minds one more time. According to Fightful Select, a planned six man tag at WrestleMania might have been changed or even canceled. The original plan would have seen New Day face Butch/Sheamus/Ridge Holland in a six man tag. However, Big E. suffered a broken neck in a match earlier this month, meaning that plans had to be changed. It seems that occasionally you will see something come out of nowhere, even if it does not make the most sense. According to Fightful Select, the two rode the ATV as a way to promote an upcoming Mattel toy which will feature the ATV and at least one of them in some way.
