WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE “Loves” This Superstar Backstage, Possible Future World Champion

He has fans. With so many talented wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be difficult for a wrestler to find a way to stand out. Being able to have good matches on a regular basis helps, but there has to be something more to really push someone to the next level. It seems that a current star in WWE has done just that, and is receiving praise backstage as a result. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: One More: Sami Zayn Getting Another Title Shot Against Roman Reigns According to WrestleVotes in an interview with GiveMeSport, several people backstage in WWE, including COO Triple H “love” Gunther, to the point where he may be a future World Champion. Other than Triple H, names such as Road Dogg and Jason Jordan are said to be fans. Gunther is the reigning Intercontinental Champion and has held the title since June 10, 2022. This gives him the longest reign since The Rock in 1997-98. They’re onto something. Check out what Gunther has been doing in WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [Th..

Personal Request: How Ronda Rousey Caused Controversial Name To Work Survivor Series

He was requested. There are all kinds of people who come together to make a wrestling show work and some of them do not get the attention they deserve. While the people in front of the cameras are the ones who matter the most, there are also people who are going to help put everything together behind the scenes. Now one of the more controversial ones has a bit better of an explanation. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Angry Chief: Roman Reigns Reportedly “Very Heated” Over Unplanned WarGames Spot Over the weekend, WWE presented Survivor Series, which included a SmackDown Women’s Title match that saw Ronda Rousey successfully defending against Shotzi. The match was co-produced by Jason Jordan and the returning Brian Kendrick, the latter of whom is not a full time WWE producer. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Rousey requested that Kendrick, one of her original trainers, be brought in for the show. While this was considered a tryout, it was more catering to Rousey’s request. The tryout wa..

Welcome Back? Controversial 43 Year Old Former Star Working Backstage At Survivor Series

Another hand. There are a lot of people needed to make a wrestling show work and a lot of them are not people you see in front of the camera. In addition to the wrestlers, there are coaches and producers who help put the matches together. WWE has a large group of such producers and this week saw them bring back a name to help things out a bit, though it might not be so well received. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Next Big Thing: Triple H Reveals Brock Lesnar Is Selling Meat According to Fightful Select, Brian Kendrick served as a producer on the SmackDown Women’s Title match between Ronda Rousey and Shotzi at Survivor Series, assisting Jason Jordan. According to PWInsider.com, Kendrick was working on a tryout and has not been hired by WWE. Kendrick was scheduled to make his AEW debut in February but the appearance was pulled after controversial comments involving conspiracy theories made by Kendrick resurfaced before his match. The match was rather watchable. Check out how it went, plu..

VIDEO: A Familiar Face Is Coming To NXT (But Something Is Different)

Meet the new guy. WWE is a rather large wrestling company with all kinds of stars under its umbrella. As a result, the company is able to offer a wide variety of matches and stars, including wrestlers from around the world. It can be interesting to see wrestlers from different countries trying their luck on different stages. That seems to be the case again as NXT has a new star on its hands. This week’s edition of NXT featured a vignette for a debuting star named JD McDonagh. The video ended with a shot of McDonagh, who was revealed as former NXT UK star Jordan Devlin, who said his “never bet against an Ace” catchphrase. This comes after Devlin lost a Loser Leaves NXT UK match to United Kingdom Champion Ilja Dragunov earlier this year. There is no word on when he will debut in NXT. You might know the guy. Check out the McDonagh vignette: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of thing that baffles me about WWE, as it isn’t like Devlin was some no name ..

NXT UK Results – May 12, 2022

NXT UK Date: May 12, 2022 Location: BT Sports Studios, London, England Commentators: Andy Shepherd, Nigel McGuinness It’s a big time show this week as we have the 200th episode (though that doesn’t seem to be the case if you actually count them up). Counting issues aside, we have a big main event as United Kingdom Champion Ilja Dragunov is defending against Jordan Devlin in a title match that is also Loser Leaves Town. Let’s get to it. The opening video looks at the title match. Opening sequence. Ashton Smith/Oliver Carter vs. Gallus The winners move on to a triple threat Tag Team Title match and it’s the Coffey brothers for Gallus. Mark powers Carter to the mat to start and it’s quickly off to Joe for a chop as commentary talks about Joe never winning anything. Carter sends Mark into the corner with a headscissors and starts in on the arm, with Smith coming in to do the same. That doesn’t work for Mark, who runs Carter over and hands it back to Joe….who is quickly knocked to the f..

NXT UK Results – April 28, 2022

NXT UK Date: April 28, 2022 Location: BT Sports Studios, London, England Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Andy Shepherd We’re in a bit of a weird place here as there is no major match this week. Last week saw Moustache Mountain cheat to retain the Tag Team Titles and in two weeks, Ilja Dragunov defends the United Kingdom Title against Jordan Devlin. I’m not sure what that leaves us with this week but maybe they have something in mind. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Symbiosis vs. Wild Boar/Mark Andrews Eddie Dennis is here with Symbiosis and it’s a big brawl on the floor before the bell. Andrews avoids a kick in the knee and hits a 619 on T-Bone’s leg, setting up a dropkick to the same knee. Boar comes in for a slam on Primate and then drops Andrews onto him for two. It’s back to T-Bone (still favoring the knee) for a forearm to the back and a belly to back suplex for two. Primate hits an elbow to the face as the villains keep taking turns beating on Andrews. T-Bone makes the mis..

WWE Might Be Making Another Roster Change Soon

That’s a big turn. WWE has a lot of wrestlers under its banner, to the point where many of them wrestle on different unique brands. It keeps things from getting a bit too hectic, but sometimes changes do need to be made. Wrestlers do occasionally move to and from a roster and now we might be getting ready to see that again, as a new stipulation has been set for a big match. This week on NXT UK, a contract signing took place for the May 12 United Kingdom Title match between champion Ilja Dragunov and challenger Jordan Devlin. During the signing, a new stipulation was announced, saying that the loser of the match would lose NXT UK. There is no word on what will happen to the loser or where they will be heading next, either in or out of WWE. Opinion: That is quite the change of pace and I’m not sure how this is going to go. While I can’t imagine Dragunov losing the title, I can’t imagine either of them leaving NXT UK. What worries me is that one of them would head over to regular NXT, w..

NXT UK Results – February 17, 2022

NXT UK Date: February 17, 2022 Location: BT Sports Studios, London, England Commentators: Andy Shepherd, Nigel McGuinness Things toned down a bit last week after back to back title match weeks. This time around seems to be more of the former as well, with the main event being a grudge match between Wolfgang and Jordan Devlin. Other than that, it’s hard to say what we might be getting around here week to week. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Sam Gradwell vs. Kenny Williams Hold on though as Williams, in street clothes, is out on crutches. There was a terrible accident so the match cannot happen. Hold on to that holding on though as Sid Scala pops up on screen to say there is no evidence of Williams being injured, so start the match. Gradwell pulls him in and hammers away to start as Williams is rocked early. A forearm out of the corner staggers Gradwell and a rake to the eyes lets Williams hit a rebound lariat. The cravate goes on for a bit before Williams rakes at the back. Grad..

NXT UK Results – January 27, 2022

NXT UK Date: January 27, 2022 Location: BT Sports Studios, London, England Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Andy Shepherd It’s time for a big title fight but things are a bit different this time. Ilja Dragunov will be putting the United Kingdom Title on the line against Jordan Devlin but the match will be in the empty arena. I’m not completely sure why that is going to be the case, though the match sounds like it has some serious potential. Let’s get to it. The opening video looks at the title match. Opening sequence. Die Familie vs. Gallus Joe Coffey and Teoman slug it out to start until Teoman is taken into the Gallus corner. Mark Coffey comes in for a chinlock, which is broken up without much effort. That means Mark can go up top, where a quick distraction lets Raja pull him down and take over. Teoman comes in and gets driven into the corner but comes right back with some arm cranking. Now it’s Dempsey getting a chance with a front facelock and a rather nasty arm crank. Raja’s f..

NXT UK Results – December 23, 2021

NXT UK Date: December 23, 2021 Host: Nina Samuels It’s almost Christmas and that means this show is getting a week off. We have a special holiday edition of the show, which is UK for Best Of 2021. That could make for a good show, as NXT UK has had a rather nice year so far. There are a lot of matches to pick from so let’s get to it. These are going to be the full version of the matches copied over from the original reviews. Nina Samuels welcomes us to the show and promises to give us the best. Shawn Michaels narrates a video on the Iron Man match. From August 5. A-Kid vs. Jordan Devlin Thirty minute Iron Man match and A-Kid might have a bad knee coming in. Feeling out process to start and they take turns going after wrist control. Devlin gets him down into an armbar but A-Kid is right back up. A dropkick puts Devlin on the floor but it’s back inside for more grappling. The threat of an armbar sends Devlin over to the ropes and he grabs a Gory Stretch to put A-Kid in trouble for a..

NXT UK Results – November 25, 2021

NXT UK Date: November 25, 2021 Location: BT Sports Studios, London, England Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Andy Shepherd Things might be picking up a bit this week as we have another title match. This time around, the Heritage Cup is on the line as Sam Gradwell is challenging new champion Noam Dar. Other than that, we are well on our way to next week’s NXT UK Title match between Ilja Dragunov and Rampage Brown. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jordan Devlin vs. Mark Andrews In the back, Flash Morgan Webster tells Andrews to not worry about the missing Dani Luna. Devlin takes him down to start and slaps the back of Andrews’ head for a bit. That’s enough to send Andrews into a frenzy and a bunch of strikes to the face put Devlin down for a change. A hurricanrana gets two on Devlin but he’s right back with a slingshot hilo. Devlin kicks him in the back of the head and stomps away at the back, setting up a backbreaker. A hard clothesline gets two and we hit the chinlock with a knee i..

NXT UK Results – August 5, 2021

NXT UK Date: August 5, 2021 Location: BT Studios, London, England Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Andy Shepherd We’ve got a big one this week as it’s Jordan Devlin vs. A-Kid in a thirty minute Iron Man match. Devlin injured A-Kid’s knee in a previous match to set this up so let’s have a good one. That alone should be enough to carry the show but you know there is going to be at least a little bit more. Let’s get to it. Shawn Michaels narrates a video about the history of the Iron Man match and what it means. Devlin is ready to win however and A-Kid says this is wrestling instead of a way to hurt people, as Devlin likes to do. Opening sequence. Xia Brookside vs. Blair Davenport Brookside goes after the arm to start and takes Davenport down twice in a row. Back up and Davenport cranks on the arm as well until Brookside is back with a dropkick. Davenport takes her down and a baseball slide puts Brookside on the floor. Back in and Davenport is back on the arm until a headscissors gets ..

NXT UK Results – July 30, 2021

NXT UK Date: July 29, 2021 Location: BT Studios, London, England Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Andy Shepherd We’re coming up on Ilja Dragunov vs. Walter II for the United Kingdom Title….but it’s going to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on the regular NXT Takeover. Well so much for that. Instead, we’ll have to get read for the Iron Man match between Jordan Devlin and A-Kid. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jordan Devlin vs. Tristan Archer Devlin takes him down by the arm to start without much effort and the cranking begins. Back up and Archer reverses into a wristlock of his own so Devlin nails a dropkick. Archer tries to knee away but gets hit in the face to drop him without much trouble. A belly to back backbreaker plants Archer again and Devlin grabs the chinlock with a knee in the back. We hit the neck crank for a bit until Archer fights up again. Devlin gets dropped for a running backsplash but Archer’s back is banged up. That’s enough for Devlin, who snaps off the Devlin Sl..

NXT UK Results – July 1, 2021

NXT UK Date: July 1, 2021 Location: BT Studios, London, England Commentators: Andy Shepherd, Nigel McGuinness We have a pretty stacked card this week with Jordan Devlin vs. A-Kid and Tyler Bate defending the Heritage Cup against Jack Starz. This is a good example of what NXT UK does well, as they have built those matches up to feel important rather than throwing big names out there and having them do whatever. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Emilia McKenzie vs. Isla Dawn McKenzie charges straight at her but Dawn hammers her down. That doesn’t seem to bother McKenzie, who is back with a swinging neckbreaker into a suplex. Dawn gets in some stomping and a forearm to the back of the neck gets two. What might have been a botched suplex is turned into a small package to give Dawn two more and McKenzie is sent outside. A whip into the barricade has McKenzie in more trouble but she comes back in with an enziguri and a cutter. McKenzie’s spear only hits knee though and a Saito suplex pl..

NXT Is Starting A New Tournament Next Month

Do it again. Tournaments are an easy concept in wrestling. You take a bunch of people, give them a prize to fight over and the last one standing wins. It can be anything from individual wrestlers to regular teams to makeshift pairings or something else fighting for money, glory, a title or even a title shot. WWE certainly loves its tournament and now they are bringing one back. The second Breakout Tournament was announced during this week’s edition of NXT, with the first round beginning on June 13. The tournament will see eight wrestlers competing in a single elimination competition, with the winner receiving a title shot of their choice. There were no wrestlers named or brackets revealed, but the tournament will be made of young wrestlers who have not had a big chance yet. The tournament was first held in 2019 with Jordan Myles winning and ultimately challenging NXT Champion Adam Cole in a losing effort. The first edition worked pretty well. Check out the announcement and how it has..

NXT UK Results – June 10, 2021

NXT UK Date: June 10, 2021 Location: BT Studios, London, England Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Andy Shepherd It’s a title night as Meiko Satomura is challenging Kay Lee Ray for the Women’s Title. The two of them had quite the showdown back in March and it could be great to see what they could do again with the stakes at a high level again. Other than that, Walter is back and that means we could be in for an important appearance. Let’s get to it. Opening recap. Opening sequence. Here is Walter for the first time in about two months to get things going. Walter talks about his title defenses in two days on two continents. Now he is the longest reigning champion of the modern era but his mission has never changed. His goal is to make this title prestigious and keep the ring sacred. And that’s it. Subculture is ready for Jinny and Joseph Conners next week. Jordan Devlin vs. Saxton Huxley The bigger Huxley powers him into the corner to start and hits a knee to Devlin’s ribs. A headlo..

Update On Recent WWE Backstage Changes

That’s always nice to hear. One of the interesting stories from this year has been all of the changes taking place backstage in WWE. The company has seen more shakeups in the last few months than in recent years and it is not surprising that it will take time to adjust to the new reality. Some have done better than others though, and now we know a bit more about the changes. According to PWInsider.com, both John Cone and Jason Jordan, who have recently been promoted to higher positions backstage in WWE, are receiving high praise from various sources in the company. Earlier this year, Cone replaced the recently departed Mark Carrano as the second in command in the talent relations department under John Laurinaitis. Jordan had been working as a producer for over a year before being promoted to lead producer in April. These changes were part of the reshaping of WWE’s backstage structure as new company President Nick Khan continues to take over more power in the promotion. Laurinaitis ha..

VIDEO: Possible Reason For Recent NXT UK Departure

That’s a good reason. Every now and then, almost every wrestler is going to need a little break from being in the ring. For one reason or another, they just need to be away from wrestling for a little while. It might be due to a personal issue, it might be a way to freshen them up a bit, or it might be to deal with an injury. Unfortunately the latter seems to be the case this time around with an NXT UK star. Earlier this week, Amir Jordan lost a Loser Leaves NXT UK match against Kenny Williams, forcing him to leave the promotion. There is no word on where or when Jordan will be wrestling again, but we may have an idea of why he is leaving. Jordan has released a video announcing that he might be needing shoulder surgery. It is not clear if this is why he lost the match. This means a lot to him. Check out the announcement: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This would certainly explain a lot and it would not surprise me to see Jordan coming back one day, perhaps on 20..

Surprise Title Change Takes Place On NXT

The next show surprise. Last wee, NXT presents its biggest ever Takeover event with Takeover: Stand & Deliver, which ran over two nights for the first time in history. The show featured a completely stacked card and that is exactly how it should have gone. There were some title changes as NXT moved some of their champions into a new era. Now one of those eras has already changed. One of the biggest matches at Takeover was a ladder match between Santos Escobar and Jordan Devlin to unify the Cruiserweight Titles. The two were both champions, as Devlin originally won the title but had to stay in the United Kingdom due to Coronavirus restrictions. Escobar became champion as well and then won the ladder match to unify the titles. The undisputed reign was on, but then there was another act. Kushida defeated Escobar during this week’s edition of NXT, becoming the new NXT Champion. This marks Kushida’s first reign with the title and his first championship win in NXT. Escobar came to the ring..

NXT UK Results – November 12, 2020

NXT UK Date: November 12, 2020 Location: BT Studios, London, England Commentators: Andy Shepherd, Nigel McGuinness We’re coming up on the end of the Heritage Cup tournament and that means we are going to need some finalists. A-Kid advanced to the finals last week and this week we find out who his opponent will be. Other than that, we have the debut of Rampage Brown, who looks like he could be a big deal. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. The Hunt vs. Kenny Williams/Amir Jordan Eddie Dennis is here with the Hunt. Boar takes Williams into the corner and it’s Primate coming in off the top with a shot to the back. A headlock doesn’t do much to Primate but a dropkick sends him into the corner for the tag back to Boar. The Hunt is knocked outside by a springboard elbow and some dives have them down as well. Back in and Boar sends Williams flying towards the camera to take over. The Hunt pounds Williams down in the corner and Boar adds a headbutt for a bonus. The face pulling is on but W..
