UFC 249 Is Back On After Being Canceled

It had been previously reported that UFC 249 was going to be canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic that is sweeping the world. However, it would seem that the tides have turned and the event is back on, with some slight modifications. According to ESPN, the event will take place on Saturday, May 9, in Jacksonville, Florida, and will be headlined by an interim lightweight championship bout between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje. From this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter: The show will air with ESPN fights from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., with Ryan Spann vs. Sam Alvey, Charles Rosa vs. Bryce Mitchell, Vicente Luque vs. Niko Price, Uriah Hall vs. Ronaldo Jacare Souza, Michelle Waterson vs. Carla Esparza, Fabricio Werdum vs. Aleksei Oleinik and Anthony Pettis vs. Donald Cerrone. Impact Wrestling Date: March 15, 2018 Location: Impact Zone, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Josh Matthews, Sonjay Dutt Things are entering a new phase here as we’re done with Crossroads, meaning it’s time to get ready for the next big show. While that hasn’t been announced yet, there is at least a hint of the upcoming World Title feud with Alberto El Patron staring down Austin Aries last week. Let’s get to it. Gail Kim’s New Role with Global Force Wrestling

<p>Jeremy Borash revealed during a <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/media/" title="media">media</a></strong> called on today that Gail Kim will be an <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/agent/" title="agent">agent</a></strong> for Global Force Wrestling following her in-ring retirement.</p><p><em>“This may be known but we are happy to have on <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/board/" title="board">board</a></strong> as an agent for Impact Wrestling, who will be helping with our Knockouts, Gail Kim, who announced that she would be retiring at the end of this year,” said Borash. “So she’s going to be taking on a more behind-the-scenes role. Everybody may not know but Gail and I had a very strong friendship for the last decade. I obviously do stuff with her husband Robert Irvine, the chef. And she has an incredible mind and really somebody that’s going to take the Knockouts to the next level. So she’s in Orlando and Tampa training gals that you’re seeing.”</em></p><p>Borash also mentioned that GFW has signed two new established female names but didn’t reveal any information on who exactly they are. We will have to wait and find out.</p>

<p>Former WWE Superstar John Morrison (Johnny Mundo) will make his Global Force Wrestling debut at the upcoming Impact Live Events in the New York Tri-<strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/state/" title="state">state</a></strong> area.</p><p>The events take <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/place/" title="place">place</a></strong> on August 4th in Long Island, August 5th in Staten Island and August 6th in Bridgeport, CT. Injury Suffered at Sunday’s Slammiversary Event

<p>PWInsider reports that Jeremy Borash suffered 25-35 puncture wounds on his wrists and palms after hitting the top rope splash onto thumbtacks during the match with Abyss vs. <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/scott/" title="Scott">Scott</a></strong> Steiner and Josh Mathews at Sunday’s Slammiversary event. After the match, Borash received medical attention and had his hands <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/taped/" title="taped">taped</a></strong> up.</p><p>Speaking of Borash and Mathews, they are expected to be returning to the announce <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/table/" title="table">table</a></strong> for commentary beginning with this week’s TV tapings.</p>

Mike Tenay Turns Down Offer for Impact Wrestling Return

<p>Mike <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/tenay/" title="Tenay">Tenay</a></strong> has reportedly turned down an offer to return to the announcers <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/booth/" title="booth">booth</a></strong> for Impact Wrestling.</p><p>According to the Wrestling Observer, with Jeremy Borash and Josh Mathews competing at the upcoming Slammiversary event, Impact wanted to have Tenay and Don West reunite and call the show. Tenay apparently turned the offer company down, which led to the Impact bringing in Robert Flores to work alongside West.</p>
