WWE Reveals 3rd Class of Athletes to their NIL Program

Here comes the next generation. Earlier today, WWE issued a press release, detailing the names of 15 new college athletes who will join the company’s NIL (Name, Image & Likeness) program, “Next In Line.” This program was created to give an opportunity to collegiate athletes that want to be a part of WWE. BREAKING: NXT Releases Five Superstars

They didn’t quite make it. WWE has a lot of resources available to use, with the NXT developmental system being one of the strongest. The company is able to build up its next generation of stars in-house, meaning they know what they are getting before the callups. Not everyone can make it though, as wrestlers can be released from NXT, which is what has taken place again. PWInsider.com is reporting five more releases from NXT. The names released include: Bodhi Hayward Sloane Jacobs Erica Yan Damaris Griffin Ru Feng Hayward is the most prominent name on the list of released names, having been the main student at Andre Chase University until Duke Hudson took his place. Jacobs had been a semi regular in the NXT women’s division and had made semi-regular appearances on NXT television. There is no word on if more releases are coming. NXT LVL Up Date: October 7, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Matt Camp, Nigel McGuinness We are back to the show that changes so little week to week that I didn’t even realize I watched the same episode twice. Odds are there are going to be a lot of the same things this week as tends to be the case around here. That should mean some ok stuff, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up for anything spectacular. I would say he has earned it. WWE has been around for a very long time now and there have been some very talented stars to come through that curtain. Some of them are far more memorable than others, but there are some legends who have stood the test of time. Those are the names that WWE likes to celebrate and that is what they are going to be doing in the near future. WWE has announced that they will be celebrating Kane’s 25th anniversary in the company. Kane debuted on October 5, 1997 at Bad Blood during the Hell In A Cell match between Shawn Michaels and Undertaker. WWE will be celebrating the milestone with special editions of Top 10 and WWE Playlist, looking at some of the best moments of Kane’s career. Then again there is always the chance that they are going to completely drop it and switch back to the normal way of doing things. That would be the LVL Up way so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Ivy Nile/Tatum Paxley vs. Sloane Jacobs/Erica Yan Paxley takes Yan down to start and she seems a bit surprised. Back up and Paxley pulls her to the mat for a hammerlock before it’s off to Nile for some more arm cranking. Yan tries to roll out and gets hammerlocked again as this is one sided so far. An escape over to the corner brings in Jacobs, who is kicked down just as fast. Paxley flip splashes onto her but stops to glare at Yan, allowing Jacobs to grab her own armbar. It Keeps Happening: Another NXT Match Stopped Due To Injury Over The Weekend

Please don’t be bad. Wrestling is a dangerous sport and there is only so much that can be done about it. No matter how much training or skill a wrestler may have, there is always the chance that someone could get hurt in the blink of an eye. That could be the case due to all kinds of things and unfortunately that was the case this weekend, as a match had to be called off. According to F4WOnline.com, NXT’s Tatum Paxley was injured during a match over the weekend against Sloane Jacobs. While not confirmed, the injury seemed to take place when Paxley was kicked in the face, sending her head first into the post. The match was stopped with Paley bleeding. Paxley would later post to Twitter, saying that she will be ok and thanking the fans for their concern. There is no word on if Paxley will miss any ring time. Are you OK PAX? He’ll have another. Wrestlers often have to rely on their talking abilities to make the fans care about what they are doing. If a wrestler is good enough with a microphone, it can open quite a few doors for their careers. This is the case for other industries outside of wrestling, and that was the case again for another legend who achieved quite the success outside of the ring. WWE Hall Of Famer Glenn Jacobs, better known as Kane, has announced that he has been re-elected as Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee on Thursday. This marks Jacobs’ second term in office with another four year term. Jacobs has still made occasional wrestling appearances while in office, most recently at Summerslam. He might have a future in this. Wrestlers often have a hard time finding a way out of the industry, as it is all they have done for so long. It can be sad to see someone hanging on for far longer than they should, but that is not always the case. Sometimes you see someone find a career that suits them very well, and that is the case again with a wrestling legend who will be continuing in an important role. Earlier this week, Glenn Jacobs, better known as Kane, won the Republican primary in the race for Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, a position he currently holds. Jacobs ran unopposed and will move on to the general election in August. While holding office since 2018, Jacobs has continued to make occasional WWE appearances, including last week. Fill Those Brackets: WWE Announces First Time Ever Tournament

They’re an easy idea. Tournaments are one of the easiest things that a wrestling promotion can put together. It’s such a simple concept, as a bunch of wrestlers are put into a bracket of some kind and the last wrestler or team standing wins a prize. There might be a theme to the whole thing and that seems to be the case again as NXT is bringing back one of their concepts, but with a twist. This week, NXT announced the first ever Women’s Breakout Tournament, which will focus on women who have either not yet debuted or have not wrestled many matches. While no prize was announced, winners of the previous men’s editions of the tournament have earned a title shot. Four of the eight entrants have been announced, including: Arianna Grace Sloane Jacobs Kiana James Lash Legend The tournament begins on May 10. NXT LVL Up Date: April 15, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Sudu Shah, Nigel McGuinness We’re back to normal around here and that might not be the worst thing. LVL Up has figured out something of a formula and it makes for a nicer show. I’m not sure what to expect from here but it has turned into something a lot more enjoyable than 205 Live was at times. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Roxanne Perez vs. Sloane Jacobs Perez is better known as Rok-C in her debut. The bigger Jacobs backs her up against the ropes to start but Perez slips out and offers a curtsy, setting up an armdrag. Jacobs drops her throat first across the top though and a neckbreaker gets two. The crossarm choke has Perez in more trouble but she’s back up with a small package for two of her own. They’re Influencers: Several WWE Names Make Variety 500 List

They have the power. Wrestling is in a weird place when it comes to celebrity status, as the people involved are indeed celebrities, but they are only known for what they do in one industry. It takes a lot to break out beyond that bubble, though it is all the more impressive when it happens. There are a few names who are more influential than others and now we know who they are. Variety has released its annual Variety 500 List, looking at the 500 most influential people in entertainment. This year’s edition features four names attached to the wrestling industry, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Vince McMahon, WWE President Nick Khan and Craig Jacobson. While not an on-screen character, Jacobson is a powerful attorney who is credited with developing WWE’s current cast of characters. Some of them do have an impact on WWE television. Sami Callihan Nearly Starts Riot And Is Threatened With Being Shot By Security At Indy Show

Not the kind of shot you’re used to. Wrestling can get people pretty emotional. Every now and then people get a little too into what’s going on and forget that they’re watching a show. Sometimes that means outside forces are needed to keep things calm, which can mean something like say, the police stepping in. That was the case on Friday and it almost got bad in a hurry. According to PWInsider.com, Sami Callihan was wrestling Jimmy Jacobs at an AAW show in Chicago on Friday. During the match, Callihan used some of the venue’s chairs to bury Jacobs, leading to part of the building’s management legitimately demanding that Callihan stop. After the match was over, security was sent to escort Callihan from the building, but Callihan attacked them, thinking it was an angle. One of the guards, an off duty police officer, threatened to shoot Callihan if he didn’t calm down, which finally ended things and he was allowed to stay. Keeping it in the family. Every wrestler needs something to do after they get out of the ring. Some go into acting, others go into real estate and some train the next generation. One however wants to enter politics and is running for Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. As luck would have it, he has an older brother to help him out. They’ve helped each other out before. [This post contains video, click to play] In a fundraiser for his mayoral campaign, Kane held an event in Tennessee on Thursday with a special appearance by the Undertaker. This is part of a series of events Kane is running, including a recent live podcast with Chris Jericho. Kane last wrestled for WWE on January 29 in a loss to Braun Strowman on “Monday Night Raw”, though he is scheduled to face Brock Lesnar at a house show on March 3. Undertaker and masked Kane.
