That’s a bad one. WWE is a multi billion dollar wrestling promotion and the most powerful in all of the industry. That is the kind of thing that can lead to a variety of issues, as the company is going to have to deal with a bunch of problems. Several of these involve situations that take place at their events, and now they might be in trouble involving a lot of money. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: REVIEW: March To WrestleMania IX: They’re Marching The Wrong Way According to PWInsider.com, WWE is being sued by a man named Marvin Jackson, who claims that a pyro display at WrestleMania 38 caused him to lose the hearing in his left ear. The lawsuit claims that Jackson sat near the stage at WrestleMania but WWE did not post any kind of notification of the dangers of being so close to the pyro. As a result, WWE is facing accusations of negligence, gross negligence and strict liability. Jackson is seeking a jury trial and more than $1 million in “damages of any kind, penalties, costs, expenses, p..
Rampage Date: February 3, 2023 Location: Nutter Center, Dayton, Ohio Commentators: Chris Jericho, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur Rampage continues to be a bit all over the place as you know most of the card/lineup in advance but it still feels like a show that could go in a bunch of different directions. That could be the case again this week as there is some star power with the Elite around to defend the Trios Titles. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Trios Titles: Elite vs. Isiah Kassidy/Matt Hardy/Ethan Page The Elite is defending and for the sake of simplicity, Matt Hardy will be referred to as Hardy and Matt Jackson will be referred to as Matt. Nick Jackson and Kassidy trade some flips and takedowns to start before Matt comes in to take over. Kassidy gets over to Hardy for the tag, so Omega gets the overly dramatic tag. Hardy sends Omega outside and goes up but Page tags himself in to take over instead. Omega snaps off a hurricanrana and it’s the Bucks coming back in for..
That’s a good reason. There are certain stars in WWE who get your attention no matter what they are doing. Some of them have an innate ability to get your attention and the audience will react to them whenever they are around. There are occasionally outside reasons that keep these bigger names away from being on WWE TV regularly and that is the case again. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s Coming Together: Current Planned And Potential WrestleMania 39 Card *MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS* Over the last few months, there have been rumors of upcoming matches between Edge/Beth Phoenix vs. Finn Balor/Rhea Ripley in some form. However, Edge had been missing for several months before returning last month at the Royal Rumble. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Edge has been missing in action due to filming commitments on the Disney+ series “Percy Jackson And The Olympians”, leaving him with no time to hype up the match. Edge appeared this week on Monday Night Raw to attack Balor, but no match ..
That’s a big step. The rise of streaming technology has been a complete game changer for wrestling fans, as they now have access to more content and options than ever before. Several promotions run events throughout the country but it is always special to get to see one of them in person. Now one of the biggest promotions is adding a completely different kind of show. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Big One: Former Champion Makes Surprise Return On AEW Dynamite AEW has announced an upcoming series of non-televised live events called House Rules. The events will air on select weekends, with the first taking place on March 11 in Troy, Ohio. This will be the second ever AEW live event, following The House Always Wins, an event held in Jacksonville, Florida in April 2021 which has never been released to the public. There is no word on how frequently House Rules events will take place. AEW has some amazing talent. Check out what you might see at a House Rules event: [This post contains video, cl..
Impact Wrestling Date: January 26, 2023 Location: Center Stage, Atlanta, Georgia Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan The fallout from Hard To Kill continues and we are also on the way to No Surrender. The latter means that we need a new #1 contender and we will have one by the end of the night due to a six way elimination match. Other than that, Bully Ray now seems to have to deal with Mickie James and possibly Frankie Kazarian so let’s get to it. Opening recap. Opening sequence. X-Division Title: Mike Jackson vs. Trey Miguel Jackson, 73 years old, is challenging and gets wristlocked down to start. Some running shoulders and a hiptoss have Miguel down for a change but Miguel punches him in the face. A hammerlock slam puts Jackson down but he avoids the springboard moonsault. An atomic drop sends Jackson outside, where he is fine enough to post Miguel. Back in and Jackson stays on the arm but takes too long with Oldest School, allowing Miguel to pull him down. The Lightning..

NXT LVL Up Date: January 20, 2023 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Byron Saxton, Matt Camp The big change this week is on commentary, as Sudu Shah is gone from the company, meaning we have a new team talking to us. That could be just about anyone, but what makes things worse is the fact that commentary changes are probably more interesting than whatever is going on with the show. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Nikkita Lyons vs. Jakara Jackson Lyons misses the early kick to the head and it’s a fast standoff. A armbar has Jackson down and Lyons rolls over into a front facelock. Back up and Lyons misses a running boot in the corner, allowing Jackson to hammer away. We hit the Fujiwara armbar and Lyons can’t quite power out. Finally she gets up and hits a sidewalk slam for the break. The strikes have Jackson in trouble, with a superkick into the splits splash being enough to give Lyons the pin at 5:10. Result: Nikkita Lyons b. Jakara Jackson – Spli..
It’s part of the job. Despite its problems, WWE is still the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world. The company is active in several countries, but the majority of its work is done in the United States. It makes sense for the company to want to be associated with some of the biggest sporting events in the country and they tried to do so again this week. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Again: WWE Reportedly Makes More Office Cuts This Week Monday Night Raw stars Montez Ford and Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair appeared on NBC’s pre-game coverage of the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Kansas City Chiefs NFL playoff game. Ford talked about the energy being the same as you find at a WWE event and Belair talked about the high stakes. Both picked the Chiefs to win, which would wind up being correct. It was a cool moment. Check out part of their appearance and the two of them in their more familiar location: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, clic..
Hard To Kill 2023 Date: January 13, 2023 Location: Center Stage, Atlanta, Georgia Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt It’s back to pay per view and Impact is actually on a heck of a roll right now. They are getting almost everything right at the moment and I’m wanting to see the show a lot more than I would have expected. We have a double main event as Bully Ray is challenging Josh Alexander in a Full Metal Mayhem match, plus Mickie James’ Last Rodeo continues as she challenges Jordynne Grace for the Knockouts Title. Let’s get to it. Pre-Show: Kushida vs. Angels vs. Delirious vs. Mike Bailey vs. Mike Jackson vs. Yuya Uemura The previously unadvertised Delirious is replacing Bhupinder Gujjar). Delirious misses (maybe) a charge at the returning Kushida to start and winds up on the floor. Uemura and Kushida are left in the ring to trade arm holds until Kushida hiptosses him into the basement dropkick. Delirious comes back in to neckbreaker Kushida but it’s Jackson (73 years ol..
That makes it harder. There are all kinds of injuries that can take place in a wrestler’s career. You never know when you are going to see someone get hurt, but there are times where you do not know the injury has taken place. Sometimes there are ways to hide the injury, even if it is something that can slow a wrestler down. That is the case again, but you might not be able to tell. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s A Start: Possible Backstage Heat On Mercedes Mone (Sasha Banks) In New Japan According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there were at least two injuries coming out of the Best Of Seven series between the Elite and Death Triangle for the AEW World Trios Titles. First, Pac broke his nose shortly into the series and had to wrestle with a protective mask on for the remainder of the matches. Second, Nick Jackson suffered a broken toe, which made it difficult to walk. Jackson is currently resting his toe and he can move it without pain. There is nothing to suggest either will mi..
The sincerest form of flattery. There are several stories taking place in WWE at the moment, but almost all of them pale in comparison to the Bloodline. The biggest story in the company, the Bloodline saga has seen people come and go, with everything revolving around Roman Reigns. This includes Sami Zayn, who showed what kind of a fan he was over the weekend. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Thinking Behind It: Here Is WWE’s Reasoning Behind Taking Money In The Bank To London On Saturday night, WWE ran a live even in Jackson, Mississippi, featuring a main event of the Bloodline facing Braun Strowman/the Brawling Brutes. During the match, Zayn used Roman Reigns’ Superman Punch on Strowman and tried a spear, though Strowman countered the latter. Zayn used Reigns’ traditional poses before both moves. This is something Zayn has done occasionally since joining the team. This is something that Reigns has earned. Check out Zayn’s imitation and the two on better terms: [This post contains video,..
Dynamite Date: December 14, 2022 Location: Curtis Culwell Center, Garland, Texas Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz It’s time for Winter Is Coming and in this case that means a pair of big matches. First up, we have the battle for the World Title and the Dynamite Diamond Ring with Ricky Starks challenging MJF. Other than that, it’s the fourth match in the best of seven series between the Elite and the Death Triangle. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Elite vs. Death Triangle Match #4 in a Best Of 7 series with Death Triangle up 2-1 and Don Callis on commentary. Matt and Penta start things off with neither being able to get the better of things. Instead everything breaks down and the Elite hits a bunch of dives to take over. We settle back down to Omega working on Pac’s arm as Nick Jackson seems to have hurt his ankle on a dive. With the actual tag match going on again, Fenix takes over on Matt as Nick is taken to the back. We take a break and come back with Matt beating ..
For one night only. There are several different ways to present a wresting story and some of the most interesting ones involve personal issues. That can go in a variety of ways as well, with the relationships involved being positive or negative. It can be interesting to see what a promotion comes up with and sometimes the best choice is a surprise. That was true on Friday in a special moment. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That’s Power: Interesting Note On Roman Reigns Working With Kevin Owens And Sami Zayn Earlier this year, Dexter Lumis made his return to NXT to briefly reunite with his storyline wife, Indi Hartwell. Lumis would then be arrested and return to Monday Night Raw, where he has since become a full member of the roster, while Hartwell remained in NXT. During Friday’s NXT live event in Jacksonville, Florida, Lumis made a surprise appearance, reuniting with Hartwell and defeating Javier Bernal. There is nothing to suggest that this is more than a one off appearance. In-Dex Reunio..
Rampage Date: October 21, 2022 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur We’re live this week and not taped after Dynamite for a change. We’re also back in the old stomping grounds of Jacksonville and the card happens to be stacked with three title matches in an hour. That should be enough to carry the show, though Rampage has a bad tendency to underwhelm. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Tag Team Titles: Acclaimed vs. Varsity Athletes The Acclaimed is defending and it’s titles vs. the SCISSOR ME trademark. The Athletes tease an early scissoring and get jumped from behind, only to send the champs outside. Back in and the Acclaimed break up some more scissoring and a powerslam plants Woods. Caster gets knocked outside, where Billy Gunn chases Tony Nese around. That’s enough for a Gunn ejection, much to Sterling’s delight. We take a break and come back with Bowens getting the tag to come in and clean house. Everything breaks do..
It had to happen to someone. There have been a lot of stories in wrestling this year but perhaps the most bizarre has been the backstage brawl after AEW All Out. There have been several suspensions as a result of the issue and the question becomes just how bad things are going to get for everyone. While there are still issues to be decided for the top names, we now know the fate of one person involved. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW has officially released Ace Steel from the company, where he had been working backstage. Steel was involved in the backstage brawl and reportedly threw a chair, which hit Nick Jackson in the head. Steel had also appeared on a recent edition of Dynamite, where he inspired CM Punk to face Jon Moxley in a rematch for the AEW World Title. Opinion: I don’t think this is quite the surprise as Steel wasn’t a major name in AEW and hadn’t even been around that long. It makes sense for Steel to be gone from the company and eliminates one factor in the e..
He has a knack for that. Wrestler have a weird relationship with acting, as you would think that they are capable of fitting into the acting world with ease, though it doesn’t exactly work that way. Only a handful of actors have done well in acting and it can be quite the second career for anyone who can make it work. Now another wrestling legend has landed quite the acting role. According to Variety, WWE Hall of Famer and current Monday Night Raw star Edge has landed a recurring role on the Disney+ Percy Jackson series. Edge will play Ares, the god of war, who will “act as an agent of chaos wherever he goes”. Edge has had a second career in acting following his original retirement from the ring, appearing on shows such as Vikings, Haven and The Flash. Opinion: That’s a big role for Edge to pick up and it is another step in his second career. Edge seems to have found something he has a knack for in acting and if he can keep going with it, good for him. Working on a Disney+ show is a ..
They did it again. Wrestling is a rather dangerous sport no matter how it is presented. The amount of time in the ring, training and experience that someone has does not make someone immune from an injury and it can happen at any time. There are injuries that are built up over time and there are injuries that take place all at once. The latter was the case this week. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks suffered a stinger during the main event of this week’s edition of Dynamite. The match was a triple threat with the Young Bucks defending the AEW Tag Team Titles against Keith Lee/Swerve Strickland and Team Taz. Early in the match, Lee and Powerhouse Hobbs suplexed Jackson, resulting in him jarring his neck and causing him to wrestle slowly for the rest of the match. There was nothing wrong with the suplex, as Matt has a history of neck issues due to years of wear and tear. There is no word on how long he might be out of action, if at all. Opinion: Th..
It’s a gig. There are various similarities between wrestling and acting, as both involve putting on a performance. While wrestlers are often described as acting, it isn’t quite the same thing as having a director yell ACTION and performing your scene. That being said, there are enough similarities that wrestlers often try to get in on acting, which is the case again with a WWE star. According to Deadline.com, WWE star Liv Morgan is expected to make her film debut in the upcoming comedic thriller The Kill Room, staring Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman. The film focuses on a money laundering scheme involving art, with Morgan playing “an art purist who bemoans the vapidness of art dealers.” There is no word on what the film will premiere or how big of a part Morgan will have. Opinion: Good for Morgan for landing something like this. That is a bit more than some part in a B level movie as there are some stars involved with this. I’m not sure how well Morgan will do in acting, but congra..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Double Or Nothing 2021 Date: May 30, 2021 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross, Excalibur We return to pay per view and that is a nice feeling to have. The card is absolutely stacked and one of the biggest that AEW has had in recent or even long term memory. Possibly the most important story here is the fact that the fans are back in full capacity, meaning it will be even more energized than usual. Let’s get to it. Buy-In Show: NWA Women’s Title: Riho vs. Serena De..
