Monday Night Raw Results – August 1, 2022

Monday Night Raw Date: August 1, 2022 Location: Toyota Center, Houston, Texas Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We’re done with Summerslam and things feel like they have been reset around here. We get to see what is going on with the first Raw of the new regime and there is a good chance that there are going to be some changes. That should make for a fun night and that is what the show needs. Let’s get to it. Here is Becky Lynch, in far more normal clothes and her arm in a sling, to get things going. After a look back at Bianca Belair beating Lynch at Summerslam and the return/debuts of Bayley/Dakota Kai/Iyo Sky (Io Shirai), Becky talks about knowing that she has remembered who she is. Lynch may have separated her shoulder but she knows she gave it her all at Summerslam and knows that no man defines her. She defines the man and now we start a new era, but first she wants Belair out here. Belair obliges and says that Lynch is the man and respect is shown. Lynch le..

RUMOR: RAW Said To Be “Really Good” Tonight

This is only a rumor, so take it for what it’s worth. According to a tweet from the WrestleVotes Twitter account, tonight’s episode of raw he said to be looking really good and is a packed show. The tweet further states that the show is looking so good that the USA Network is allowing the 1st hour to be commercial-free if WWE wants. I’m told RAW tonight looks really good as of now, and is a packed show. So much so, USA Network is allowing the 1st hour to be commercial free if WWE wants. — WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) August 1, 2022 Tonight will be the first episode of Raw that is completely under the control of Triple H since he took over the role of head of creative. The company is coming off a very successful Summerslam event that had many people in the wrestling community buzzing about the future of WWE. Some of the highlights from Summerslam included the return of both Dakota Kai and Io Shirai, as well as a crazy main event that included Brock Lesnar lifting the ring with the ..

Second Chance: News On New Stable Formed At WWE Summerslam

I guess he wasn’t a fan. There have been a lot of changes to WWE in recent weeks and the biggest has been the departure of Vince McMahon. After about forty years of running the company, McMahon has finally retired, taking with him a long legacy. One piece of that legacy is turning down ideas that might have flourished, which very well might be the case again. Over the weekend, WWE presented its annual Summerslam event, with Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair successfully defending her title. After the match, Bayley returned and was accompanied by Io Shirai and Dakota Kai. According to Fightful Select, the stable was originally pitched to McMahon but he shot the idea down. There is no word on the upcoming plans for the team. Opinion: I’m intrigued by the idea of the new trio, if nothing else because they are a fresh idea. That is something that has been lacking from WWE for a long time now and maybe there is something to the team. If nothing else, it could be interesting to see what h..

BREAKING: Bayley Returns At WWE Summerslam Along With Two Surprise Fan Favorites

Welcome back. The WWE Women’s Revolution took place just over seven years ago and it was one of the best things to have happened to the company. The women’s division has been around for a long time in WWE but it took a special group of women to make it matter. Those women are still around today and now another one of them is back after a rather long time away, but she didn’t come alone. The opening match at this year’s Summerslam saw Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair successfully defend her title against Becky Lynch. Following the match, Bayley returned after missing over a year of action due to a torn ACL. Former NXT star Dakota Kai and former NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai joined Bayley in the ring and had a standoff with Belair and Lynch before leaving without anything physical taking place. Kai was released from WWE in April and Shirai has been out of action since NXT Stand & Deliver on April 1. Opinion: Fans were thinking that things would be shaken up once the new regime took ..

Farewell? Former Champion “Pretty Much Gone” From NXT

It worked while it lasted. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, the company has to mix up its roster by putting the wrestlers on different brands. That is something that can keep the wrestlers apart for a rather long time, though it does allow for some interesting matches when people move around. This time though, someone seems to be moving away from WWE as a whole. NXT’s Io Shirai has not wrestled a match since April 1 amid reports that she was injured during that match. There have also been rumors that she is not interested in signing a new deal with WWE and would rather return to Japan to be closer to her family. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Shirai is already mostly out of the company and is not likely to return. There is nothing to suggest that there is any heat between the two sides. Opinion: This is something that seems to have been in the works for a long time now and that is not the worst thing. Shirai does not so much seem to be unhappy in NXT but rather wants..

Homecoming? NXT Star Reportedly Leaving WWE When Contract Expires

That would be a loss. There are a lot of talented stars in WWE, to the point where the roster has been split into a variety of groups. This includes NXT, which may be the official developmental program but it still contains a wide variety of incredible stars. Now though, it seems that WWE could be in danger of losing one of those stars, even if she has not been around much lately. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, NXT’s Io Shirai has not signed the latest contract that WWE has offered her. Her current WWE deal expires next month and if she does not sign a new deal, she will become a free agent. Shirai has reportedly been telling others that she wants to return to Japan to be near her family. There is no word on where she would wrestle next should she leave NXT. Shirai has not wrestled in NXT since being injured at Stand & Deliver on April 1. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is going to happen at one point or another and that is something WWE has to deal with when..

Double Homecoming: Two NXT Stars Expected To Return From Injury Soon

Twice as nice. Injuries are a terrible thing to see in wrestling as they can keep someone on the shelf for a long time, but they can also lead to some nice returns. Having someone come back from an injury is great to see as they can return refreshed and able to do something they have not done in a long time. That might be the case again soon in NXT, times two. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, both Io Shirai and Zoey Stark are expected to return to the ring relatively soon, though no specific date was given for either. Shirai has not wrestled since the April 2 Stand & Deliver when she hit the announcers’ table on a moonsault to the floor. Stark has been out of action since October as she is recovering from surgery for a torn ACL. Opinion: That is a great thing to see as the two of them have both been out of action for a long time. The women’s division has some depth to it, but adding in two more stars is going to be a good thing. You can put them into either title pictu..

Get Well Soon: NXT Star Injured And Could Be Out For A Long Time

That explains things. NXT has undergone several changes in the last few months, as the show has been relaunched as NXT 2.0. There are very few things that are still around from the old days, but you can still see some of the wrestlers who were around before. Unfortunately that has not been the case with everyone, and now we might know where one of them has been. According to Fightful Select, NXT star Io Shirai is currently out of action with an injury. There are not many details known about the situation, including the nature of her injury or how long she will be out of action. Shirai last wrestled at NXT Stand & Deliver in Dallas, Texas in April and has not been seen on television since. The hope is that Shirai will return at some point this summer, but that is not guaranteed. Opinion: That does explain a bit as there is no other reason to keep someone as talented as Shirai off of television for two months. Shirai is still one of the best performers in all of NXT and could easily ha..

That Looks Rough: Possible Injury For NXT Star

That doesn’t look good. You never want to see a wrestler get injured. In addition to not wanting to see someone in pain, you don’t know how long they are going to be on the shelf. It can be terrible to see a wrestler go out of action and there are some injuries that are worse than others. Now a popular NXT star seems to be hurt and it does not look to be the best situation. Io Shirai has appeared in a photo posted to social media from Easter Sunday. In the photo, Shirai is seen with a boot on her foot and crutches next to her. There is a chance that Shirai was injured during Stand & Deliver when she attempted a moonsault onto Kay Lee Ray (see the clip in the second tweet below). Shirai has not appeared on television since the show. It should be noted that there is NO speculation about Shirai’s injury, including how severe it is or if it has taken place whatsoever. This is still considered speculation. Io appears to be in a boot and on crutches (see bottom right of first picture), mak..

Big Shakeup To NXT Stand & Deliever Card, Plus Grudge Match Added

Time for the NXT shakeup. WWE does a lot of things right but there are some areas where they might need to improve a bit. One of these things is changing up matches and plans that have already been established and even advertised. That seems to be the case again, as a title match set for an upcoming show has expanded in a big way that hasn’t been done before. This week’s NXT featured the finals of the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Kay Lee Ray and Io Shirai won the tournament, earning a shot at the Women’s Tag Team Titles. However, Ray and Shirai announced that they would instead be adding themselves to the Women’s Title match at Stand & Deliver, where Mandy Rose is scheduled to defend against Cora Jade. This is the first time that the winners of the Dusty Classic will be challenging for a singles title. Another new match was also added to the Stand & Deliver card, as Gunther will be facing LA Knight. Gunther has been critical of Knight in recent weeks, saying that Knight tal..

NXT WarGames 2021 Live Coverage And Results

WarGames 2021 Date: December 5, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett We’re not at a Takeover, but we’re pretty much at a Takeover. It’s close enough to November so let’s have some WarGames matches, with the men and the women both getting a shot. Other than that, we have a hair vs. hair match, a Tag Team Title match, and a Cruiserweight Title match with only one cruiserweight. Let’s get to it. The opening video looks at WarGames and now violent this is going to be. Team Toxic Attraction vs. Team Raquel Gonzalez Toxic Attraction: Mandy Rosa, Jacy Jayne, Gigi Dolin, Dakota Kai Gonzalez: Raquel Gonzalez, Kay Lee Ray, Cora Jade, Io Shirai We’re in the double cage with Kay Lee Ray and Dakota Kai starting. The first period is five minutes, the rest are three minutes, you can win by pinfall/submission once everyone is in, and Jade falls off of her skateboard on the way in. Ray brings in a baseball bad so Kai brings i..

WATCH: We Have Most Of A WarGames Match

That would be a big one. We are on the way to the next big NXT event with WarGames on December 5. While it is not a Takeover event, it seems it will be having all makings of one of them. This includes theshow’s namesake match, which could make for some interesting changes. The NXT roster has been decimated by changes and injuries but now we might know something big on the horizon. This week’s NXT featured a main event of Dakota Kai vs. Raquel Gonzalez. When Gonzalez seemed to have the match won, Toxic Attraction interfered to cause the disqualification. This led to Cora Jade and Io Shirai making the save. After the ring was cleared, Shirai issued the challenge for a WarGames match, though it has yet to be made official. There is no word on who would team with Shirai and Gonzalez. This was a big moment. Check out the brawl plus what WarGames looks like: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] ..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – November 9, 2021

NXT Date: November 9, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph We’re back with more of this show and I’m not exactly sure what that means. Odds are it means more Toxic Attraction though, as the trio has been all over the show almost every single week as of late. Throw in more of the usual suspects and this hasn’t been the most thrilling time in NXT as of late. Let’s get to it. Kayden Carter/Io Shirai/Kacy Catanzaro vs. Toxic Attraction Rose hammers on Carter to start and it’s quickly off to Dolin for more of the same. Carter fights up and brings in Shirai to take Jayne down by the leg. Catanzaro’s sliding trip takes Jayne down and a slingshot flip dive gets two. Jayne takes her into the corner though and it’s Rose coming back in, only to be send outside for a slingshot corkscrew dive. Carter dives onto Rose and Dolin but Rose cuts off Shirai’s dive. We take a break and come back with Rose chinlocking Catanzaro whi..

NXT Results – November 2, 2021

NXT Date: November 2, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett We’re done with Halloween Havoc and that means it is time to get ready for…well I have no idea actually as I’m not sure what they’re going to do as far as Takeover goes. There were a bunch of title changes last week and now it is time to see where things go from here. Let’s get to it. Here is Mandy Rose to open things up and Barrett is VERY happy to see her as the new Women’s Champion. She is very proud of her win because she is the best looking champion in the title’s history and she is still the baddest b**** around. Last week was a great night for Toxic Attraction and we see all of them holding up their new titles last week (Mandy: “D*** I’m hot.”). Her girls aren’t here, so we cut to the back where the rest of Toxic Attraction is beating up Zoey Stark. Mandy is proud of them but wants some competition. Cue Io Shirai to say she’ll fight right now, b..

Several Title Changes Take Place During NXT Halloween Havoc

I’d call that a busy night. There are all kinds of wrestling shows on the air every week, but sometimes you get to see one that is an especially big card. These shows are going to feature marquee matches with big stars involved, along with several championships on the line. That was the case this week, and it was a rather bad night for people coming in with titles. This week’s edition of NXT was the Halloween Havoc special, which featured four title matches on a six match card. Of the four titles that were on the line, three changed hands. First, Toxic Attraction won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles from Io Shirai/Zoey Stark in a ladder match also involving Persia Pirotta/Indi Hartwell. Next, Mandy Rose defeated Raquel Gonzalez in a street fight to win the NXT Women’s Title. Finally, MSK lost the NXT Tag Team Titles to Imperium in a lumberjack match. The only champion to retain their title was Tommaso Ciampa, who defeated Bron Breakker in the show’s main event. It was a busy night. Ch..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – October 26, 2021

NXT Date: October 26, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph It’s another special show this time around with Halloween Havoc. Last year’s edition did rather well but now we need to see if they can do the same with the new cast. The main event is Tommaso Ciampa defending the NXT Title against Bron Breakker, plus a bunch of Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal matches. Let’s get to it. Chuckie as in from the Child’s Play movies, welcome us to the show and runs down part of the card. Women’s Tag Team Titles: Toxic Attraction vs. Persia Pirotta/Indi Hartwell vs. Io Shirai/Zoey Stark Shirai/Stark are defending in a ladder match, with Chuckie giving us another intro. It’s a brawl to start with Toxic Attraction being sent outside. Some ladders are thrown inside and it’s Hartwell/Pirotta going up, only to have the champs break it up with some dropkicks. Jacy Jayne kicks the ladder and breaks one of the metal pieces in the midd..

Health Update On NXT’s Jacy Jayne After Scary Crash

That could have been worse. Injuries are the kind of thing that can happen to anyone at any time and their impact can be devastating. You never know how bad something might be at the time, but luckily they often look worse than they actually are. That doesn’t make them any less scary at the time, which seems to be the case again with a recent scary situation. This week’s NXT featured a triple threat match between Io Shirai, Persia Pirotta and Jacy Jayne. During the match, Jayne attempted a suicide dive but landed face first on the floor, forcing her out of the match. According to Wrestling Observer Live, Jayne underwent a full CT scan and did not suffer a concussion. She is currently still advertised for a triple threat tag team ladder match at Halloween Havoc next week. Jayne can be effective when she stays in the ring. Check out some of her in-ring work: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play..

VIDEO: Terrible Mistake Takes Place On NXT, Wrestler Removed From Match

That did not look good. Wrestlers are very talented at what they do but there is always the chance of something going wrong. That is the kind of risk that every wrestler takes and it can be made even worse if they try to do something they are not quite ready to pull off. Sometimes that can lead to a bad ending, which was the case this week after a pretty bad mistake. This week’s NXT featured a triple threat match between Io Shirai, Persia Piratto and Jacy Jayne. During the match, Jayne attempted a suicide dive to the floor but caught her feet on the ropes, sending her face first onto the floor. The show went to a commercial and Jayne was gone when it came back without returning later in the match. There is no word on Jayne’s condition after the injury, though according to a fan on Twitter, she walked out of the arena. Let’s hope Jacy Jayne is ok ?? she walked out thank god! #wwenxt pic.twitter.com/tXA55jiVkc — Niko Exxtra (@nikoexxtra) October 20, 2021 It could have been worse. Che..

Several Big Changes Made To Halloween Havoc Card

Trick and treat? There are certain shows that take place at the same time every year because they would not make sense at any other point on the calendar. That can be a good or bad thing, as it can get annoying to have the same things every year, but there are also instances where it adds some fun anticipation. That should be the case next week and now we know more about the show. On Tuesday October 26, NXT will present its second annual Halloween Havoc special, which saw several additions and changes during this week’s show. First of all, MSK challenged Imperium to a match for MSK’s Tag Team Titles, which was later announced as a Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal match. Later in the night, Io Shirai defeated Persia Pirotta and Jacy Jayne in a triple threat match, allowing her to spin the wheel and determine the stipulation for the Women’s Tag Team Title match. As a result, the match will now be a Stairway To Hell ladder match. Next, LA Knight defeated Grayson Waller to earn the right to..

Two New Titles Matches Set For Halloween Havoc

We’re still growing. NXT is in the middle of some major changes and those are going to continue to take place for the time being. The brand has been completely relaunched and after a few weeks, it is time for their first major show later this month with Halloween Havoc on October 26, meaning the show is going to need to be stacked. It grew quite a bit this week. Two new titles matches were announced for Halloween Havoc during this week’s edition of NXT. First, Io Shirai and Zoey Stark will defend their NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles against Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin/Jacy Jayne and Indi Hartwell/Persia Pirotta in a triple threat match. Hartwell and Pirotta had issued a challenge but Toxic Attraction interrupted, setting up a brawl which led to the announcement. Second, Toxic Attraction’s Mandy Rose will challenge Raquel Gonzalez for the NXT Women’s Title. Gonzalez accepted the challenge, but wanted it to take place in a Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal match. These should work. Check ou..
