It’s a corporate thing. Wrestling is like any other industry in that there are always going to be people and companies that a wrestling promotion needs to please. This is the case with sponsors or owners, but also with their corporate partners. Former AEW Champion Reportedly Not Backstage For Months This week on AEW Dynamite, President Tony Khan announced that the All-Atlantic Title will officially be named the International Title starting next week with Orange Cassidy’s defense against Jeff Jarrett. The move was announced as a tie-in to the new Warner Brothers film Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods. According to Fightful Select, this move has been in place for months, as Warner Brothers Discovery had wanted “something big” to tie into the film. It was fun while it lasted. There are so many wrestlers on the WWE roster that it can be easy to forget about some of them. To make it even more complicated, there is also the NXT roster, which features stars who are not on television nearly as often. Occasionally someone will quietly slip away from the company and that seems to be the case again with an international star. Sarray signed with WWE in 2020 but her debut was delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. She appeared infrequently on NXT and was eventually repackaged into an anime inspired character who transformed with a magical necklace. That does not offer them many options for getting their name out there otherwise, but it does happen occasionally. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Hi There: International Star Makes Official WWE Debut Liv Morgan was a guest at Tuesday’s New York Knicks game in Madison Square Garden to promote WWE’s upcoming live event in the same venue. During the night, Morgan was acknowledged as a guest of the team and presented with a customized Knicks jersey with her name on the back. Also during the night, Morgan was shown watching the game while a fan spoke to her, but she barely acknowledged anything he said. Lee, who announced that he had signed with WWE in December, was listed under the Dragon Lee name. This is similar to how previous new signees debuted in the crowd before. The big return? There were several major wrestling stories last year but the biggest in AEW was the backstage fight after All Out, which resulted in several suspensions. Most of the people involved have since returned to AEW television, save for former World Champion CM Punk. In addition to his suspension, Punk has been recovering from a torn tricep muscle. Now we have a bit better idea about his possible future. The company has so many wrestlers from around the world who are well versed in different styles and techniques, allowing for different kinds of matches. One of the drawbacks of this is having wrestlers miss time due to international issues, which seems to be the case again for several names.
