It’s an interesting choice. It had been previously reported that Rey Mysterio will be given the ultimate honor within WWE, and become a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, Class of 2023. But who will be the one to induct Mysterio? According to a report from Dave Meltzer, former WCW superstar Konnan will do the honors of bringing Mysterio into the Hall of Fame. From Wrestling News: Konnan was the most obvious choice because they have been close for decades, dating back to Rey and Konnan’s early days in the wrestling business. This might be Konnan’s first appearance at a major WWE event. Konnan wrestled briefly as Max Moon on non-televised matches in 1992 but those matches never aired and he left the company before the character debuted on TV with Paul Diamond playing the role. Ring Of Honor Date: March 9, 2023 Location: Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman We’re still on the first taping of this new show so things are likely to look like they did last week. The wrestling itself was pretty good, but the length of the show was quite the drag. They did offer something big at the end with Eddie Kingston showing up to challenge Claudio Castagnoli, so there is at least a path forward in the main event. Let’s get to it. “The Genius” Lanny Poffo Passes Away At Age 68
We have some sad news to report today as Lanny Poffo, who was known as “The Genius” in WWE has passed away at the age of 68. From WWE.com: The son of Angelo Poffo and younger brother of WWE Hall of Famer “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Lanny Poffo had a style all his own. Arriving in WWE in 1985 alongside his brother, “Leaping” Lanny Poffo was one of the first high-flyers in WWE. While he achieved some success as a fan favorite reading his own poetry and throwing Frisbees to the crowd, he reached new heights as The Genius while managing Mr. Perfect. Lanny had the honor of inducting his brother into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015.
