Down it goes. Wrestling is like any other sport in a lot of ways, including by having numbers and statistics play a huge role. There are certain records that are well known among wrestling fans, but every now and then one of those numbers will fall. It can be a big deal when something like that happens, and it happened again in a big way this weekend on a grand stage. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Homecoming: Surprise Return Kicks Off WWE Royal Rumble This weekend, WWE presented its annual Royal Rumble event. The show opened with the Men’s Royal Rumble match, which saw Gunther enter at #1 and set a new longevity record for the match. Gunther lasted 1:11:25, breaking Rey Mysterio’s record of 62:12 set in 2006. Commentary did make it clear that Gunther’s record was in traditional Royal Rumble matches, as Daniel Bryan lasted 74:12 in the Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018, though that match had 50 entrants compared to the traditional 30. Gunther finished as the match’s runner up to Cody Rhodes. Th..

It would have been a different way to go. There have been a lot of wrestlers throughout the history of WWE and several of them will pop up again every so often. Homecoming: Another Former WWE Star Reportedly Set For Return

Another on the list. There have been all kinds of returns to WWE in recent months and there is nothing to indicate that those changes are ending anytime soon. WWE Confirms Return Of Missing Superstar

Another homecoming. There have been several changes to WWE’s roster in recent months and they moves continue all over the company. Wrestlers have been coming and going from one roster to the other, along with a bunch of wrestlers coming back to WWE after a hiatus for one reason or another. Now WWE has announced that another name will be coming back to the company. This week on Monday Night Raw, a vignette announced that Elias will be returning to television next week. This will be Elias’ first appearance in an arena in over two months after his alter ego Ezekiel was injured at the hands of Kevin Owens, putting him out of action. There is nothing to suggest that Ezekiel or any other characters played by Elias will be joining him. Elias has not wrestled a match as Elias since July 19, 2021. Opinion: This is a good sign, as the Ezekiel experiment only got him so far and there was only so much that could be done with the idea. It didn’t help that Ezekiel’s entire character was focused ar..

Huge Reunion Set For October 10 Monday Night Raw

It’s a homecoming. Stables have long since been a major concept in WWE and it makes a lot of sense. Putting a group of wrestlers together allows them to fill in more television time while also getting more people on the show. That is a tricky thing to do and a stable can make it that much easier. Now WWE is bringing back one of the biggest stables ever for a special reunion. As announced by the Barclays Center Twitter, D-Generation X will be reuniting to celebrate twenty five years of the team on the October 10 Monday Night Raw. The members who will be appearing are not specified but Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Road Dogg and X-Pac appear in the clip. There is no word on what the team will be doing during their reunion. Homecoming? WWE Working To Bring Back Naomi And Sasha Banks

A hope spot? There have been all kinds of changes throughout WWE over the last few months and one of the biggest on-screen changes took place when Naomi and Sasha Banks walked out. The two left the company despite being the reigning Women’s Tag Team Champions, which shook things up in multiple ways. However, the shakeup might be about to be unshook. According to Dave Meltzer on the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast, WWE is working to bring Banks and Naomi back to the company. This comes after Vince McMahon retired earlier this month and the new regime wants to bring them back. There is no word on if Naomi and/or Banks are interested in returning to the company. Banks and Naomi walked out on the May 16 Monday Night Raw. Opinion: This is something that shouldn’t be a major surprise as Belair and Naomi are both rather talented, but there are going to be some changes needed. I’m not sure if this is actually going to work in the end, but at least there is an effort being made. That being s..

Getting Closer: Positive Sign For Bayley’s WWE Return

Homecoming? It is always sad to see a wrestler put on the shelf for a long time as you never know when they are going to be back. That can make for some rather terrible waiting spells and a WWE star is in the middle of one of the longer in recent memory. Fans have been waiting for her to be back for a long time now and that might be a lot sooner than they think. According to PWInsider.com, Bayley has been at the WWE Performance Center for several days in the past week, though what she is doing there has yet to be confirmed. Bayley has been out of action since June 2021 with a knee injury and it is not clear when she will be able to return to the ring. Over the last few months, Bayley has dropped hints suggesting that she will be back in the ring soon. Opinion: This is one of those things that sounds great on paper but you don’t know what it is going to mean, as Bayley could be out of action for a long time to come. What matters is the fact that she is at least on the road to recovery..

Homecoming? NXT Star Reportedly Leaving WWE When Contract Expires

That would be a loss. There are a lot of talented stars in WWE, to the point where the roster has been split into a variety of groups. This includes NXT, which may be the official developmental program but it still contains a wide variety of incredible stars. Now though, it seems that WWE could be in danger of losing one of those stars, even if she has not been around much lately. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, NXT’s Io Shirai has not signed the latest contract that WWE has offered her. Her current WWE deal expires next month and if she does not sign a new deal, she will become a free agent. Shirai has reportedly been telling others that she wants to return to Japan to be near her family. There is no word on where she would wrestle next should she leave NXT. Shirai has not wrestled in NXT since being injured at Stand & Deliver on April 1. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is going to happen at one point or another and that is something WWE has to deal with when..
