He’s back. The biggest wrestling story of the year has been the return of Vince McMahon to WWE, following a six month absence. McMahon is back to facilitate a sale of the company, though it has led to wonder about whether he will rejoin the creative team. While there is nothing to suggest that he has done it so far, McMahon did do something this week that he has not done since his return. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Jey Uso Makes His Decision About The Bloodline According to Fightful Select, McMahon was backstage this week at Monday Night Raw. There was no official reason for him to be there, though one WWE talent suggested that he was there to see John Cena, who was returning at the show. According to PWInsider.com, there was nothing to suggest that McMahon had anything to do with the show’s creative. Finally, according to Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful.com, McMahon is reported to now be sporting a mustache. Vince McMahon……had a mustache backstage…..per one of the talent I heard fr..
That’s a different one. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling and some of them are not so common. You might see someone get hurt in a way that you have not heard before, or at least not heard of in a very long time. Either way, it can put someone on the shelf for a long time and that was the situation last year, when a star went on the shelf with something you probably do not hear very often. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They’re Back: Full List Of Royal Rumble Returns (Injured Stars, Legends, Surprises) Zelina Vega missed about half of 2022 with an undisclosed injury. While speaking on the Anna Faris Is Unqualified podcast, Vega confirmed that she suffered a ruptured breast implant while taking a northern lights suplex against an unnamed opponent. Vega was absent from April 11, 2022 until October 7 when she returned as the manager of Legado del Fantasma and an occasional wrestler. Vega can be quite the star in WWE. So maybe not? We are in a very strange time for WWE as things are moving so fast that it is hard to keep track of everything. The difference this time is that it is at the very top of the promotion, with the future ownership being questioned. That has opened up a variety of options, but now it seems that one of the leading candidates may not be as close to control as expected. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: When Vince McMahon Could Appear On WWE TV Again Earlier this week, a rumor circulated that WWE had been sold to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which planned to take the company private again. However, new reports from Ariel Helwani of BT Sports, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics and Jon Alba of Fite TV say that they have heard nothing of such a sale. At the moment, WWE has yet to comment on the story, though the company has been rumored to look at a sale in recent days. Contrary to reports stating otherwise last night, there is no deal in place at this precise moment for ..
That’s a good sign. Injuries are one of the worst things that can happen to a wrestler, as you never know how long someone is going to be out of action. There are certain kinds of injuries that are worse than others and they often have an open ended time frame for a return to the ring. That was the situation earlier this year for a prominent AEW name and now we have a small positive update. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: No More: AEW Tag Team Splits, New Stable Formed In Its Wake Back in June, AEW’s Adam Cole suffered a concussion during a four way match at Forbidden Door. Cole has not wrestled since and has only made one appearance on AEW television since the show. According to Dave Meltzer on Twitter, Cole is doing “much better”, but there is no word on when Cole could be back on AEW TV. Meltzer said that AEW is being cautious as you never know when someone is going to be able to recover from a concussion. He's doing much better. The last I heard is they were being cautious. Don'..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Attribute Of The Strong Date: June 29, 2019 Location: Bossanova Ballroom, Portland, Oregon Commentator: Joe Dumbrowski It’s another show from Independentwrestling.TV as I get everything I can out of a free trial. This is from Prestige Wrestling, a promotion out of the northwest with some names I’ve actually heard of for a change. I’m not sure what to expect from this but that can make it more fun at times. Let’s get to it. As usual, I have no idea what is going on here with characters or storylines s..
He’s still on their minds. This has been one of the most eventful years in the history of wrestling but nothing really comes close to Vince McMahon stepping down as head of WWE. McMahon had been in charge of the company for about forty years and several people have never seen WWE under someone else’s control. Now though, we have heard his name again on WWE programming in a positive light. During the opening match of this week’s NXT, commentator Booker T. mentioned McMahon, referring to him as one of the all time great wrestling minds. The mention came during a list of other promoters, including Paul Bosch. This was one of, if not the, first mentions of McMahon since he officially retired from WWE on July 22 in the midst of an investigation over a string of payments to various women over the years. It was part of a big show. Check out some more of this week’s NXT: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click ..
Welcome home. According to reports from PWInsider and Wrestling News, William Regal is finalizing a deal to officially return to WWE in the new year. This is after previous reports surfaced that he was officially done with AEW and that he will not renew his contract when it expires this month. Regal has being in AEW since March of this year, when he debuted at their Revolution pay-per-view. He has primarily been associated with the Blackpool Combat Club since this time with the company; however, he allied himself with MJF at the recent Full Gear pay-per-view. Regal provided MJF with some brass knuckles, which he used to defeat Jon Moxley, and become the new AEW world heavyweight champion. However, on this past week’s episode of dynamite, MJF would turn on Regal, knocking him out with those same brass knuckles and effectively writing him off of television. It is expected that Regal will return to WWE in a backstage role. Editor’s Opinion: Once I heard that Triple H was taking over ..
Eat it before he eats you. Wrestlers can do a lot of things and some of them have nothing to do with what goes on in the ring. Sometimes you hear about them doing something outside of wrestling, possibly using their celebrity status to get the word out a bit easier. That is apparently the case with a top WWE star, even if you have never heard of them before. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Danger Of War: Bloodline Member Possibly Injured During WarGames Triple H recently appeared on Snack Wars, where he mentioned being a fan of beef jerky. As an aside, Triple H mentioned that Brock Lesnar has his own line of beef jerky, which is called “Bearded Butcher Brock Lesnar Beef Bites” which are sold on Bearded Butchers’ online store, though as of this writing, they are out of stock. Lesnar has never mentioned the product on WWE TV. It is not clear when Lesnar will return to WWE. Lesnar can do a lot of things outside of the beef jerky business. Check out his dominance of WWE: [This post contains vid..
That could be bad. Injuries are one of the few universal problems that a wrestler can suffer as you never know when someone is going to be hurt during the course of a match. An injury could be major or minor, but there are also some that can cause problems for a long time to come. We might have seen one of the latter this weekend at Survivor Series during the show’s main event. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Planning Major International Show In India The main event of this weekend’s Survivor Series saw the Bloodline face Team McIntyre in a WarGames match. At one point during the match, Jey Uso seemed unable to set up a table and, according to Bodyslam.net, could be overheard telling his teammates that his hand was broken. Uso would favor his hand throughout the match. Various fans on Twitter have said that they heard Uso say the same thing. There is no word on whether Uso will need to miss any ring time as a result of a possible injury. I can’t be the only one that hea..
It’s a different perspective. There are certain moments in wrestling that take place right in front of your eyes and get the intended reactions. One of the best things that you will see is a big surprise, which was the case earlier this week with a special return. Now though, we are getting to see what set things up from a different perspective that is not always available to the fans. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Mia Yim Claims She Would Request Released If WWE Asked Her To Do This This week on SmackDown, Becky Lynch made her WWE return after missing three months due to a shoulder injury. Lynch was unveiled as the fifth member of Team Belair in the women’s Survivor Series WarGames match. Belair introduced her and started a brawl in the ring, though WWE has released a video her Lynch backstage waiting to come through the curtain. Belair’s voice can be heard and the video of the show can partially be seen behind her. It was a special look. Check out Lynch getting ready to return and..
Just him? There are very few wrestlers in the history of WWE on the same level as Brock Lesnar. Immediately upon his debut, Lesnar was presented as The Next Big Thing and he has been a monster in the company during his on and off career. It means something for a wrestler to be paired with Lesnar, but there is reportedly one name that he would not work with for some reason. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: When Worlds Collide? WWE Veteran Would Return After 11 Years To Work With Roman Reigns One of the feature matched at Survivor Series 2017 was AJ Styles vs. Lesnar in a battle of World Champions. Styles defeated Jinder Mahal to win the WWE Title less than a month before the match, following an announced match between Mahal and Lesnar. According to Road Dogg on his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, Lesnar had no problem working with Mahal, but rather felt that he could have a better match with Styles. Dogg said he had never heard of Lesnar not wanting to work with anyone in WWE, save for only Kevin O..
That’s a different one. Fans are among the most important parts of any wrestling show as you need someone watching to make something matter. They can be at home or in the arena, but the latter gets a more special situation. Sometimes that is not as good as it might sound though, and that was the case for a fan at a recent live event, thanks to a certain WWE star. During a recent Sunday Night Stunner live event in Mexico City, Rhea Ripley was knocked to the floor and landed near the barricade. Before getting up, Ripley reached into the crowd and untied a fan’s shoelaces. Other fans can be heard laughing at what Ripley did as she rolled away from the barricade. Ripley was in Damian Priest’s corner this week on Monday Night Raw. This was pretty great. Check out what Ripley did to a fan: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: What you have here is a prime example of what makes live events special. It is something that you probably couldn’t get away with during a televised s..
Yes, almost again. There are a lot of different kinds of personalities in any wrestling locker room and sometimes those personalities can clash in a bad way. It can be rough seeing things break down between stars but there is very little that can be done to avoid the situation entirely. Now we are hearing about what was almost another backstage brawl between AEW stars. During the latest episode of Konnan’s Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Konnan spoke about the backstage issues in AEW between Santana and Ortiz. Konnan said that he heard that their issues almost led to a physical altercation between Santana and Eddie Kingston, though there was no reason given for what led to the issue. There is no word no why Santana and Ortiz’s relationship has broken down. It should also be noted that any Kingston and Santana incident would have taken place in May at the earliest, as Santana has been out of action with a knee injury. Opinion: Somehow this is a relief as AEW has built up a reputation as a com..
