Double Shot: Monday Night Raw Star And Main Event Officially Set For NXT Stand & Deliver

There’s another one. We are just a few weeks away from WrestleMania 39 and that means it is time to start finalizing the card. WWE knows what they have planned for the show but the matches still need to be officially announced. This includes title matches as well, and now we know one of the bigger title matches that is going to be held at some point over the weekend. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Join The Team: WWE Discusses Carmelo Hayes Coming To Main Roster For Specific Role Asuka won the Women’s Elimination Chamber match, last eliminating Carmella, to earn the right to challenge Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Title at WrestleMania 39. The match also included Liv Morgan, Natalya, Raquel Rodriguez and Nikki Cross. Belair and Asuka have had two televised singles matches in the past, with Belair winning one and the other going to a no contest. That would be a change. NXT stars are in a strange place as they are trying to get over in front of their own television audience but also trying to get over with the WWE. Their ultimate goal is to get to the main roster, which can come in a variety of ways. Occasionally it involves joining an established group and now an NXT star may be in the running to do just that. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: A Big One: WWE Reportedly Believes They Can Sign Kenny Omega According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is considering calling up Carmelo Hayes from NXT and having him join a reformed Hurt Business. There is no word on when this would take place, though the Hurt Business is currently not around. Hayes is a former two time North American Champion and has been rumored for a call up over the last few months. This is noted as still being seen as speculation rather than something definitive. It can be a career making moment for someone to get the call and it often comes after a huge match takes place. Now we might be ready to see what could be a huge promotion for someone. We are about a month and a half away from Stand & Deliver and Carmelo Hayes is looking like a strong option to go after Bron Breakker’s NXT Title. Other than that, NXT has some work to do so let’s get to it. In Memory Of Jerry Jarrett. Grayson Waller vs. Tyler Bate Waller takes him to the rope to start the choking, while shouting that Shawn Michaels bet on the wrong horse. Bate grabs his own foot and swings it into Waller’s face, followed by a dropkick for two. A quick shot lets Waller grab a cravate with the knee to the face getting two more. The back and forth continues as Bate runs him over and hits a standing shooting star press for his own near fall. It looks like we have a title match set up, as Carmelo Hayes stared down Bron Breakker, who retained the NXT Title in the main event. That should give us a clear path to Los Angeles so let’s get to it. We open with the recap of Vengeance Day. Here are Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes to open things up. Williams talks about how Hayes turned seer Apollo Crews into Stevie Wonder before Hayes brags about his win too. Hayes knows his destiny and there is one man waiting for him. Grayson Waller Confronts Shawn Michaels On Media Conference Call

Nowhere is safe anymore. Following last night’s NXT: Vengeance Day premium live event, Shawn Michaels did a media conference call to discuss the show. However, he was not alone, as Grayson Waller decided to make his feelings known. Waller interrupted Michaels during the call and shared his frustrations about not being HBK’s guy. Waller felt that Carmelo Hayes has taken that place, as was shown in the final moments of the show. Matt Bloom ended up entering the room and removed Waller before he took things too far. He’s Back: Surprise Return Takes Place At NXT Vengeance Day, Ending Eight Month Absence

Welcome back. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the WWE roster and some of them are around a lot more often than others. You never know when you might see someone going away and not coming back for a long time but it can be a big deal when they make their return. That was the situation this weekend, as a star was back for the first time in a very long while. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Change Of Plans: NXT Stars Now Allowed To Wrestle Elsewhere, First Case Announced Dabba Kato, formerly known as Commander Azeez, made a surprise return to NXT television over the weekend at Vengeance Day, where he got involved in the match between Carmelo Hayes and Apollo Crews. After the match, Kato attacked Crews and left him laying. Kato has been missing since May 2022, when he wrestled on Main Event. NXT Date: January 17, 2023 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Booker T., Vic Joseph We’re done with New Year’s Evil and now all roads lead to Vengeance Day in about two and a half weeks. The show will feature Bron Breakker defending the NXT Title against Grayson Waller in a cage match but we’re going to need more than that. There is a lot of potential for the rest of the show though and we should hear more this week. Let’s get to it. Opening recap, featuring all of the returns and surprises. Trick Williams/Carmelo Hayes vs. Axiom/Apollo Crews Williams works on Axiom’s arm to start and then runs him over for a bonus. A pop up right hand puts Axiom down again and it’s off to Hayes. Partner Up: Cody Rhodes Trains For WWE Return With Surprising Pair Of Names

That’s a special honor. One of the biggest WWE stories in 2022 was the return of Cody Rhodes. After being away from the company and wrestling around the world, including in AEW, Rhodes was back and started to take the company by storm. Rhodes would get hurt in June though, putting him on the shelf for the rest of the year. Now it seems that Rhodes is on his way back, and he has had some help getting there. The big story coming out of last week is Roxanne Perez winning the Women’s Title from Mandy Rose, who is already gone from the promotion in a surprise. That is going to lead to some fallout so let’s get to it. We open with a long recap of Perez winning the Women’s Title over Rose last week. Opening sequence. New First Time Champion Crowned At NXT Halloween Havoc

That’s why they exist. Titles are some of the most important things in all of wrestling as you never know what you might get out of a title change. Someone winning a championship can be a game changer for their career and usually means that they are being elevated up the ladder. Now another title has changed hands and it could be the start of something big for the new champion. This weekend, NXT presented its annual Halloween Havoc event. The show featured a variety of title matches with a new champion being crowned. In the show’s opening match, Wes Lee won the vacant North American Title, defeating Oro Mensah, Von Wagner, Carmelo Hayes and Nathan Frazer in a ladder match. The title had been vacated when Solo Sikoa moved up to SmackDown. In addition, NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and NXT Champion Bron Breakker retained their titles. Halloween Havoc 2022 Date: October 22, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Booker T We’re back to the themed shows and this one has some potential, if nothing else for the set alone. How WWE waited twenty years to bring this back is beyond me, but we could be in for a very fun show this week. Or it’s going to be a big crossover between NXT and Chucky because he has to be around every year. Let’s get to it. Chucky welcomes us to the show and runs down the card. Hosts Shotzi and Quincy Elliott welcome us to the show. North American Title: Oro Mensah vs. Wes Lee vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Nathan Frazer vs. Von Wagner Ladder match for the vacant title. It’s the normal brawl to start with Frazer sending the villains outside for the big dive onto Wagner. The first ladder is brought in but Mensah and Frazer get together to take Hayes and Lee down. Update On WWE’s Plans To Bring Up New Superstars

It’s part of a plan. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, the company has to make sure things keep moving. One of the easiest ways to do this is to bring stars up from the NXT developmental system. It can make a difficult task to find the right names to move up and sometimes the company needs to take a closer look. Now they might have a plan to do just that. According to Fightful Select, WWE is looking for more crossover between the Monday Night Raw, SmackDown and NXT rosters. This includes NXT stars appearing on the WWE’s Main Event program, such as Brooks Jensen, Josh Briggs and Fallon Henley last week and Von Wagner and Carmelo Hayes this week. There is no word on when or if any call ups will take place. Opinion: This is the kind of move that makes a lot of sense for WWE. For years, Main Event has been little more than the same collection of stars facing off over and over. Things seem to be moving forward into a new era around here and that should be good for NXT as a whole. I’m not sure what that is going to mean but we do have a #1 contenders match this week between Tyler Bate and JD McDonagh. Let’s get to it. Opening recap. Earlier today, Carmelo Hayes and Solo Sikoa came in to see Shawn Michaels and the results of the match last week cannot stand. Sikoa was not the sanctioned challenger and therefore cannot be the North American Champion. The title is handed over and Sikoa hands over the title, with Shawn wishing him luck anywhere he goes.
