Back later? There are all kinds of storylines in wrestling, some of which might not make the most sense on the surface. Oftentimes, these stories are things that will not be paid off for a long time, as fans are left waiting to see what is going on. That seems to be what is happening again in AEW, as one of the company’s top stars is saying he will be gone for the time being. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Quick One: AEW Title Changes Hands On Dynamite In Surprising Fashion On Sunday at AEW Revolution, Bryan Danielson lost an Iron Man match to AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman, submitting in overtime to give Friedman the win. This week on Dynamite, Danielson talked about how he got where he is by never giving up and did not know what to do now. Danielson said that it might be time he went home before walking away. There is no word on when Danielson will be back on television. It was an emotional moment. Check out the promo, plus some of Danielson’s happier days in AEW: [This post c..
Hand it over. There are different kinds of title reigns in wrestling and they can all end in different ways. Occasionally you will see them last for a very long time while others come and go rather quickly. It can be interesting to see how different title reigns go in various ways and now another one has come to an end after a few unique twists with everything involved. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Get Your Bids In: AEW Star’s Contract Reportedly Up Soon, WWE Interested Over the weekend at Revolution, Wardlow defeated Samoa Joe to win the TNT Title for the second time. Wardlow then went on to defend the title against Powerhouse Hobbs this week on Dynamite after Hobbs won the Face of the Revolution ladder match to earn a title shot. Hobbs went on to win the title with the help of QT Marshall, winning his first title in AEW. The loss ends Wardlow’s reign at three days, the shortest in the title’s history. This was a big deal. Check out the title change and the new champion in action: [This..
That’s a scary ending. There are all kinds of ways to build up sympathy for a wrestler, all of which can be used for a big moment later. Some of them can be more serious than others, but the question becomes what happens after the initial moment. We saw a more serious one this week at the end of a television show, and now it could be going in a variety of directions. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Double Shot: Monday Night Raw Star And Main Event Officially Set For NXT Stand & Deliver The main event of this week’s NXT saw Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez successfully defend her title against Meiko Satomura. Following the match, the two shook hands before Perez collapsed without being attacked. She was taken out of the arena on a stretcher and put in an ambulance to end the show. There is no word on where this is going or anything to suggest that this is anything more than a storyline. That got serious. It must be a wrestler thing. There are certain wrestlers who have tried their hands at acting, but only a few have managed to make it work. You never can tell when someone is going to find success in another field. When it does work, it can make for some interesting acting roles, and now we are in for another one. It just happens to be the second time a wrestler has played the role. Slight snag. Wrestlers have tried their hands at acting for years now and the connection makes sense. Wrestling is designed around the idea of making fans believe that what they are seeing is real, which has led to wrestlers appearing in the occasional acting project. A prominent WWE wrestler is now trying his hand at it as well, but now things might be slowed down for the time being. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: In The Back: WWE Appears To Spoil Celebrity Appearance At WrestleMania 39 Bray Wyatt returned to WWE last September following a year plus hiatus from the company. During his time away from WWE, Wyatt had started planning for his first film. Jason Baker, a make-up artist and director, as well as Wyatt’s collaborator, was interviewed by Metro, where he talked about the film. The unnamed film will be a horror movie and is described as “Ichi The Killer Meets Xanadu”. However, the film is now on hold as Wyatt is back in WWE, meaning he does not have the time to work on the project. The..
That’s longer than expected. There are certain reasons that a wrestler has to be taken off of television at times and some of them are a lot more serious than others. Occasionally it is due to a health reason that needs to be addressed, meaning they need to go away for the time being. That seemed to be the case with a WWE star last year, but now things are getting a bit more complicated. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They Have A Point: WWE Reportedly Very High On This New NXT Star Back in December 2022, Matt Riddle was written off of WWE TV by an attack at the hands of Solo Sikoa. This was reportedly done due to Riddle failing a drug test and entering rehab. Shortly after Riddle’s injury was announced on WWE TV, WWE said he would be out of action for six weeks, but over eleven weeks have passed since then. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, there is no word on why WWE is not using Riddle. It was speculated that they might not have anything for him for Wrestlemania or that WWE did not wa..
And NEW! Title changes can mean the world for a championship as it can breathe new life into the title’s status. Occasionally something just needs to be changed and that can make for a big moment. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE “Loves” This Superstar Backstage, Possible Future World Champion The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Lita and Becky Lynch defeat Damage Ctrl to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. Late in the match, Bayley interfered on Damage Ctrl’s behalf, prompting WWE Hall Of Famer Trish Stratus to run to the ring and help take Bayley out. The win makes the first Women’s Tag Team Title reign for either Lita or Lynch. It was a cool moment. Check out the title change, plus more from each of the new champs: [This post contains video, click to play] [T..
That does make sense. Titles are some of the most important parts of any wrestling promotion. They can drive any storyline and identify the wrestlers that the promotion wants to present. A title changing hands can make a huge difference for both a wrestler and the company as a whole, but it can mean even more when one of them goes away. One of the top WWE stars is now explaining why that is a bad thing. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Naomi And Mercedes Mone Appear Together In New Advertisement SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte was interviewed by the Daytona Beach News-Journal and talked about the possibility of unifying the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Titles. Charlotte said that she was not in favor of unifying the titles, as while it can be special for one woman to have both titles at once, it takes away opportunities for the women. Charlotte is currently scheduled to defend her title against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39. There have been some big title unifications. Check out som..
He’s out. There have been several World Champions throughout WWE’s history. Some of them have been more successful than others but almost all of them champions are memorable in one way or another. Just being a former title holder means a lot and occasionally WWE will bring one of them back to help someone else. The most recent edition of this experiment seems to be over. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Seth Rollins Seems To Plant Seeds For Rumored WrestleMania Match Back in October, John Bradshaw Layfield returned to WWE as Baron Corbin’s manager. The two have been associated on television since, though Corbin has been on a losing streak in recent weeks. This week on Monday Night Raw, Layfield said that he was done with Corbin and was washing his hands of him. According to PWInsider.com, this was done as a way to write Layfield off of television as he is not scheduled to appear on WWE TV going forward. There is no word on what is planned for Corbin. Layfield has had quite the career. ..
Dynamite Date: February 8, 2023 Location: County Coliseum, El Paso, Texas Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz It’s a title themed show this week as we have two title matches plus a pair of eliminator matches. That should be enough to make for a good night as AEW tends to treat its titles seriously. The build towards Revolution continues and we should be getting some more added to the card. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Maxwell Jacob Friedman vs. Konosuke Takeshita Non-title. MJF’s offer of a handshake is brushed off to start so Takeshita hammers down some right hands in the corner. A knee is blocked and MJF sends him into the corner to take over. We hit the armbar, followed by a hammerlock DDT for two on Takeshita. Back up and Takeshita hits a quick brainbuster for two and a frog splash gets the same. Takeshita traps the legs and hits a Tombstone, followed by a wheelbarrow suplex to send MJF outside. MJF gets in a shot of his own and takes it back inside, with Takeshi..
It was a busy night. Title changes are one of the most important things that you can see at a wrestling event. A new champion being crowned marks a changing of the guard, as you have someone else becoming one of the to stars in a promotion. It can mean even more if multiple titles change hands in a single night, which was the case this weekend in the span of a few hours. There were two title changes over the weekend at NXT Vengeance Day. First up, Fallon Henley and Kiana James defeated Kayden Carter and Katana Chance to become the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. The win marks the first title changes for Henley and James and also ends the record setting reign for Chance and Carter at 186 days. Later, Gallus defeated Pretty Deadly, Chase U and reigning champions the New Day to win the NXT Tag Team Titles for the first time. North American Champion Wes Lee, Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez and NXT Champion Bron Breakker all retained their titles. It was a busy night. Check out the tit..
Dynamite Date: January 25, 2023 Location: Rupp Arena, Lexington, Kentucky Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz This is going to be an emotional one as the main event will feature the Jay Briscoe Tribute match between Mark Briscoe and Jay Lethal. If that’s not enough, we’re still on the way to Revolution and that means Bryan Danielson gets to wrestle again. This time he has to find a way around Brian Cage, which is quite the different opponent than he has had in recent weeks. Other than that, the Gunns and the Acclaimed are going to have family therapy, which could go in a few different ways. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Chris Jericho/Sammy Guevara vs. Action Andretti/Ricky Starks We are joined in the middle of Jericho’s entrance (including Daniel Garcia). Andretti and Guevara start things off and exchange some flips without being able to make a ton of contact. Andretti’s standing moonsault misses and they stare at each other for a bit. Guevara offers a handshake and th..
They need the help. We are coming up on the Royal Rumble and that means things are going to get rather complicated rather quickly. The show will feature two matches with sixty people between the two of them and that is going to require a bunch of people working together. Some of those people will be behind the scenes and now WWE might be bringing in outside help for the show. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That Might Slow It Down: Lawsuit Filed Against Vince McMahon Over WWE Return According to Fightful Select, independent wrestler Jason Cade is being brought in to help produce the women’s Royal Rumble match. Cade is said to have comprehensive experience, which would be valuable for a match like this. There is no word on if he could be hired as a WWE producer full time or if this should be seen as a tryout of some kind. Cade has wrestled for every major American promotion, including some appearances for WWE. The match has a lot to deliver. Check out some moments of women’s Royal Rumbles pas..
It’s less wrestling. The WWE Network was an absolute game changer for wrestling fans. For the first time ever, fans were able to see almost every major WWE event in history for a relatively cheap price. It meant there was more content available to fans and more was added at a regular basis. However, that might not be the case anymore, at least for certain wrestling programming. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: You’re Up: Royal Rumble Described As “All Hands On Deck”, What That Means According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, a WWE source says that independent wrestling content will be discontinued on Peacock. A WWE source indicated to Fightful that they'll be discontinuing indie content on the WWE Network. https://t.co/DwMvG4msM2 — Sean..

Welcome back. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the WWE roster, to the point where it can be difficult to keep track of everyone. It makes things even more complicated when someone leaves television for one reason or another, which happens every so often. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: No More: How Vince McMahon Has Been Almost Totally Removed From WrestleMania 39 Back in December 2022, Matt Riddle was written off television with an injury at the hands of Solo Sikoa, with WWE saying that he would be gone for six weeks. Rampage Date: December 30, 2022 Location: 1st Bank Center, Broomfield, Colorado Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, Paul Wight We’ll close out the AEW year with this and as is often the case around here, Orange Cassidy is defending the All-Atlantic Title. This time though, it’s against his friend Trent Beretta. That could go in a few directions and on top of that, we’ll be hearing from Jon Moxley about something. Let’s get to it. In Memory Of Don West. Opening sequence. All-Atlantic Title: Orange Cassidy vs. Trent Beretta Cassidy is defending, Chuck Taylor/Danhausen are on commentary and Kip Sabian is on commentary. They shake hands for a good bit to start until Trent misses an armdrag. Back up and they run the ropes until Cassidy is hiptossed outside. Cassidy gets back in and sends him outside as well. Then they switch places again, with Cassidy being sent outside for the second time. Trent’s dive hits Chuck by mistake but it’s turned into a well timed Big Hug. Cassidy dives..
That’s a nasty one. There are all kinds of injuries a wrestler can suffer, with some of them being more serious than others. While there are certain injuries that are going to leave a wrestler out of action for a very long time, others can seem rather small but wind up being more nagging than anything else. That might have taken place again to a big WWE name at a recent live event.
