Farewell: AEW Star Reportedly Leaving Company After Three Year Run

It’s been a fun ride. AEW has come a long way since its inception and a lot of that has been due to the roster it has put together. Not everyone can stick around forever though, and now it seems that one of the names that has been around for a long time is taking her leave. WATCH: Vickie Guerrero On The Accidental Origins Of “EXCUSE ME!”

Something out of nothing. There are all kinds of ways for a wrestler to make a connection with the crowd and one of the most effective is a catchphrase. Someone saying something that the fans instantly recognize is one of those things that will work almost every time. No matter what else is being said, you know who is speaking every time. Now we know a bit more about how one of the best known modern catchphrases came about. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Maybe Later? WWE Reportedly Canceled Battle Of Wrestling Families Vickie Guerrero was recently interviewed by Pro Wrestling Illustrated and spoke about the origin of her “Excuse Me” catchphrase. Guerrero explained that one night she was scheduled to do a promo but specifics were changed several times throughout the day. In a new interview with Wrestlinginc.com, Chavo Guerrero, who works on Young Rock, said that he would love for some people from the show, including himself, to be part of the match. Monday Night Raw Results – October 24, 2022

Monday Night Raw Date: October 24, 2022 Location: Spectrum Center, Charlotte, North Carolina Commentators: Corey Graves, Kevin Patrick We are less than two weeks away from Crown Jewel and that means the card is going to need a little more build up. Two more matches were added last week and now we are probably going to get either some build towards those matches and/or even more matches added. That is what the show needs so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here is Judgment Day to get things going. Rhea Ripley says that last week, AJ Styles found out that Judgment Day runs Monday Night Raw and that Dominik Mysterio is all man. Damian Priest wants the people to rise for the greatest luchador of all time. Dominik says these are the only people who ever believed in him and says last week was proof that Eddie Guerrero was his generation’s Dominik Mysterio. Cue the OC to say Dominik is stupid because he’s more like the James Ellsworth of this generation. Karl Anderson is ready to face Fi..

REVIEW: Great American Bash 2004: A Real Burial

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Great American Bash 2004 Date: June 27, 2004 Location: Norfolk Scope, Norfolk, Virginia Attendance: 6,500 Commentators: Michael Cole, Tazz We had to get here at some point and that’s not the most appealing thing in the world. The double main event will see JBL challenging Eddie Guerrero for the WWE Title in a Texas Bullrope match (totally different than the Montana bullrope match) and the Undertaker vs. the Dudley Boyz in a Concrete Crypt match (totally different than the good idea match). Let’s get to it. The op..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Using Old Crowd Footage For Unrelated Matches

They really need that? WWE has been around for a very long time now and has put on more events and shows than anyone could reasonably count over the years. That means there have been all kinds of moments throughout the years, some of which are all time classics. WWE loves to look back on its own history, and that is what they are doing again, but with a not that normal twist. According to Wrestlingnews.co, WWE is using old footage for their modern video packages. This includes using footage from John Cena returning as the Dr. of Thuganomics in 2012 as part of a package on Madcap Moss vs. Happy Corbin from WrestleMania Backlash, and footage from the Eddie Guerrero tribute show as part of a Stephanie McMahon segment on WWE Evil. There is no word on how many more times WWE has done something like this. During the Madcap Moss/Corbin video recap, WWE used crowd shots from 2012 from John Cena’s return as the Dr. of Thuganomics. They have been doing more of this lately. pic.twitter.com/Vg2v..

REVIEW: SmackDown – April 14, 2005: Here He Comes

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Smackdown Date: April 14, 2005 Location: Allstate Arena, Chicago, Illinois Commentators: Michael Cole, Tazz We’re in the process of finding a new #1 contender, which is likely to be JBL. Thankfully we get some big matches on the way there, including one tonight with Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero. That is one of those matches that can’t be screwed up so we should be in for a good evening. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of the #1 contender series, with Eddie Guerrero costing Rey Mysterio his match against JB..

Backstage News On The Reason For A Strange WrestleMania Surprise

That’s an interesting explanation. WrestleMania 38 has come and gone and there were a lot of major moments throughout the show. The event took over the course of two nights and that meant several memorable events were able to take place. Some of these involved surprises and betrayals, and now we know the thinking behind one of those changes, even if it is a bit odd. One of the surprises at WrestleMania 38 saw the Miz turn on Logan Paul after the two of them defeated the Mysterios. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, part of Paul’s deal was that he would wind up being a babyface when he his time in WWE was up. Miz attacking Paul was designed to cause the turn. There is no word on if Paul will be returning to WWE in the future. Opinion: I’m not sure how well this plan is going to work but at least there was an idea in place. Paul is not known for being a likable guy and he spent the entire match mocking the beloved Eddie Guerrero. It is going to take something bigger than Miz beatin..

REVIEW: Smackdown – September 9, 2005: Moving Day

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Smackdown Date: September 9, 2005 Location: Gwinnett Center, Duluth, Georgia Attendance: 4,000 Commentators: Michael Cole, Tazz It’s a big night as Smackdown moves over to Fridays, where it would stay for a very long time to come. This is a stacked card with Batista defending the World Title against JBL in a bullrope match, Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio in a cage match and Heidenreich/Animal defending the Tag Team Titles against MNM. Let’s get to it. A small note about this show: the first hour was aired on WWE..

AEW Seems To Release A Star Without Telling Him

Maybe he missed the memo? Wrestling is not exactly like other sports, as the show just kind of keeps going. With no off season, there is not exactly a beginning or end to anything. Sometimes wrestlers will stick around longer than others, but it can be very surprising to see someone leave a promotion out of nowhere. That seems to be the case again, with the wrestler himself being surprised. Chavo Guerrero debuted in AEW in 2021 and served as Andrade El Idolo’s manager before their association ended in September of that year. Guerrero left the company to continue his work on Young Rock Season 2, with the expectation that he would be back in the company once filming ended. However, Guerrero has since removed Guerrero from their roster page. According to Wrestlinginc.com, Guerrero sent and then deleted a tweet showing his surprise, saying: “That’s news to me! I guess having @TonyKhan telling me to go film Young Rock Season 2, & my job will be waiting for me when I’m done, didn’t mean mu..

WWE And AEW Both Try (And Fail) To Land Former World Champion

They tried. The rise of AEW has changed the way wrestlers are treated in wrestling, as now talent is sought after by both AEW and WWE, resulting in more lucrative offers. A lot of wrestlers have taken the promotions up on those offers, but they are not for everyone. That is the case with one independent star, who has apparently turned down multiple offers to join the bigger leagues. Davey Richards appeared on Vickie Guerrero’s Excuse Me podcast where he revealed that he has turned down multiple offers from WWE and AEW. Richards said that he did not care for televised wrestling, as it did not allow him to have the kind of matches and tell the kinds of stories that he wanted. He has since begun appearing with Major League Wrestling and other independent promotions. Richards has certainly made an impact. Check out some of his better work: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Good for..

REVIEW: No Mercy 2006: All Hail

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? No Mercy 2006 Date: October 8, 2006 Location: RBC Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina Attendance: 9,000 Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield We’re back to the pay per views and this time around it’s another pretty low level one with one of the weaker Smackdown shows. The main event, as of two days ago, is now a four way with King Booker defending his title against Finlay, Batista and Bobby Lashley. Other than that we have Chavo Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio in a Falls Count Anywhere match as the second bigges..

VIDEO: AEW Takes A Special Look At An Important Issue

It’s an important thing in and out of AEW. Wrestling has come a long way in the areas of taking care of its stars in recent years. A lot of this has come in the areas of taking care of wrestlers’ health, as there is little more important to cover. While most of the focus has been on the physical side, there is an entire other area to cover and now we are getting to hear about it from some current wrestlers. AEW has released a new video with various wrestlers and stars discussing the importance of mental health. The video features names such as Powerhouse Hobbs, Vickie Guerrero, Ryan Nemeth and others, all speaking about how much caring about their mental health has helped them in both their careers and their lives. Each individual person is shown on their own rather than together as a group. It’s a great video. Check out the whole thing, plus some of the people included: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video..

AEW Full Gear 2021 Live Coverage And Results

Full Gear 2021 Date: November 13, 2021 Location: Target Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur It’s time for what is likely going to be one of the best AEW shows in history as the card is stacked. AEW has shown that they can put together an awesome card and then deliver on the potential. I’m looking forward to more than a few things on the show and that is a great feeling to have. Let’s get to it. Buy-In: Thunder Rosa/Hikaru Shida vs. Nyla Rose/Jamie Hayter The four of them are matched up in the TBS Title tournament and Vickie Guerrero is here with Rose/Hayter. Rosa and Rose start things off with Rosa grabbing some rollups for two each. A basement dropkick has Rose staggered and it’s off to Shida for a running knee in the corner. It’s back to Rosa, who gets powered into the wrong corner though, meaning the stomping is on. Rosa manages to roll away and brings Shida back in to start striking away as Serena Deeb is watching from ringside. Hayte..

New AEW Star Explains Why He Came Out Of Retirement So Soon

Stick around. Wrestlers have a weird career trajectory as you don’t always know when someone is going to hang up their boots for good. Some wrestlers are going to announce their retirements and walk away, but others have a tendency to come back over and over. Another rather young wrestler is doing that as well, and now we have an explanation about why. Last week, AEW announced that Lio Rush had signed with the company. This came only a few months after Rush retired from wrestling, though he was fulfilling his contractual obligations with New Japan. Rush appeared on Vickie Guerrero’s Excuse Me podcast, where he explained why he continued wrestling for AEW. During the interview, Rush explained that his family took a financial hit due to his WWE release and his music career did not pan out as expected. He also did not get to spend as much time as he wanted with his children and moved to AEW as a result. Rush is a heck of a talent. Check out who is coming to AEW: [This post contains vid..

Til We Meet Again: AEW Writing Off Legend For The Time Being

It was fun while it lasted. AEW has built up an impressive roster over its still rather short existence. The promotion has a nice mixture of rookies, established named and veterans, which add up to quite the entertaining lineup. Sometimes you need some more well known names to help boost up the younger ones, though AEW is going to be losing one such older name for the time being. Last week on AEW Rampage, Andrade El Idolo attacked his associate Chavo Guerrero, leaving him to be taken out by Pac. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the angle was designed to write Guerrero off of AEW television as he will be returning to work as the wrestling coordinator on the NBC series Young Rock. Guerrero was always scheduled to leave soon after All Out but will be back when Young Rock finishes filming its second season. Guerrero certainly is a star. Check out some of his better moments from around the wrestling world: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains vid..

AEW Rampage Results – September 10, 2021

Rampage Date: September 10, 2021 Location: Fifth Third Arena, Cincinnati, Ohio Commentators: Jim Ross, Mark Henry, Taz, Tony Schiavone The biggest week in AEW history wraps up here with a pay per view quality match. This week’s feature match will see Pac vs. Andrade El Idolo in a match that was supposed to take place at All Out. Instead it is happening here, along with hometown boy Brian Pillman Jr. facing the rather rude Max Caster. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Pac vs. Andrade El Idolo Chavo Guerrero is here with Idolo. They stare each other down to start before going at it in a hurry. Andrade catches him with a basement dropkick and we hit the Tranquilo pose. Some kicks in the ribs just wake Pac up and he hurricanranas Andrade outside for the big running flip dive. Pac whips him hard into the barricade and we hit the chinlock back inside. Andrade snaps off a running boot to the face and a hanging DDT onto the apron sends Pac hard to the floor. That means Andrade can hit hi..

Chavo Guerrero Makes His Debut In AEW

The payroll increases. There were a pair of debuts on AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest Part 2 this week, with the first one being Nick Gage. Later in the show, another recognizable figure made his presence known, as Chavo Guerrero made his debut with the company. During Andrade El Idolo’s segment with Tony Schiavone, Andrade announced that he had a major announcement for everyone. He announced that he had hired a new special consultant, and then brought out Chavo. What?! Chavo Guerrero (@mexwarrior) is here and he's the new executive consultant for @AndradeElIdolo. REVIEW: Great American Bash 2005: Story Time

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Great American Bash 2005 Date: July 24, 2005 Location: HSBC Arena, Buffalo, New York Attendance: 8,000 Commentators: Michael Cole, Tazz It’s their patriotic show, which isn’t likely to mean much in regards to anything more than the name. The official main event is Batista defending the World Title against JBL but the real main event is Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio over the secret that Guerrero wants to tell Rey’s son Dominic. I’m not seeing a great show here, but it could be lot worse. Let’s get to it. The openin..
