That’s one less. Stables have been a common factor in wrestling for a very long time now as they are a concept that makes sense. Having a stable allows for several wrestlers to be able to get television time at once, often through a shared goal or characteristic. Occasionally you will also see wrestlers who are thrown together with nothing else to do, and now we are seeing one such stable go their separate ways. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: WWE And AEW Stars Reunite In New Music Video AEW’s QT Marshall has announced that the Factory, his AEW stable, has disbanded, citing hate from “experts” in wrestling. Marshall said to keep an eye on the members of the team, including Lee Johnson, Cole Karter, Aaron Solo and Nick Comoroto. There is no word on any backstage reason for the team being disbanded and nothing to suggest that any member is gone from the promotion. We did some fun stuff. Unfortunately, the amount of Factory hate from the “experts” in wrestling was too much and the group ..
That would be a change. The biggest wrestling story of the year has been the return of Vince McMahon to WWE. McMahon has taken his former role as Chairman of the Board, with the reported goal of selling the company. This has led to the question of whether McMahon will return to the creative side of the company. Now we might know a little more about such a change. Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, Brock Lesnar accepted MVP’s offer of a match against Omos at WrestleMania 39. The match would be a first time pairing as Lesnar and Omos have never faced each other. According to WrestleVotes on Twitter, the match was McMahon’s idea, who pushed it through and made it happen. WWE and its executives have consistently said that McMahon has no impact on the creative side of the company. I’m told the highly anticipated, very compelling (??) Brock Lesnar vs Omos WrestleMania matchup was the idea of one specific, powerful person who pushed it through. pic.twitter.com/VpcdEFsLzJ — WrestleVotes..
That would be a change. NXT stars are in a strange place as they are trying to get over in front of their own television audience but also trying to get over with the WWE. Their ultimate goal is to get to the main roster, which can come in a variety of ways. Occasionally it involves joining an established group and now an NXT star may be in the running to do just that. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: A Big One: WWE Reportedly Believes They Can Sign Kenny Omega According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is considering calling up Carmelo Hayes from NXT and having him join a reformed Hurt Business. There is no word on when this would take place, though the Hurt Business is currently not around. Hayes is a former two time North American Champion and has been rumored for a call up over the last few months. This is noted as still being seen as speculation rather than something definitive. Hayes is a star. Check out what might be coming to the main roster: [This post contains video, click..
Yeah she’ll do. With WrestleMania 39 just over a month away, WWE is starting to put together some of its plans for the biggest show of the year. That can include a variety of changes, including bringing in some names from the past for special appearances. It seems that WWE had to scrap such a plan for one reason or another, but now we know more of what they had in mind. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: She Has A Goal: Bayley Vents About Her WrestleMania History, Makes Promise For This Year According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE Hall Of Famer Trish Stratus was scheduled to appear on the February 13 Monday Night Raw but the plan was canceled. While not confirmed, the change was rumored to be due to Dakota Kai’s injury. Stratus is still expected to return, though the planned match for WrestleMania 39 still calls for Damage Ctrl to defend the Women’s Tag Team Titles against Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler. There is no word on how Stratus might be used. Stratus has done a lot at Wrest..
She’s not having it. We are about six weeks away from WrestleMania 39, which will take place on April 1 and 2. WWE has turned the event into the biggest wrestling showcase of the year with some of the most important matches in history taking place there. It means a lot for a wrestler to make it onto the card and now a WWE star is venting her frustrations at missing previous WrestleManias. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He Did It Again: Roman Reigns Passes Yet Another Milestone As WWE Universal Champion This week on Monday Night Raw, Bayley lost a triple threat match for a chance to get into the Elimination Chamber for the WrestleMania 39 Raw Women’s Title match. Bayley has since taken to Twitter, talking about how she has missed the last two WrestleManias but promised to go to Hollywood (as WrestleMania 39 is in Los Angeles) one way or another. This comes after Bayley missed WrestleMania 38 due to injury and hosted WrestleMania 37. I haven’t competed in the last two Wrestlemanias. Last year..
They had a plan. NXT is a unique wrestling promotion, as it has its own television show but it is also the official WWE developmental territory. That means the wrestlers’ goal is to move up to the main roster and get out of NXT, no matter how well they have done there in the first place. We might know who WWE has in mind as some of the next callups from NXT to the main roster. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: BREAKING: AJ Styles Injured At WWE Live Event, Helped To The Back Earlier this month, WWE released Mandy Rose from the company in a surprise move. The release, reportedly due to a series of risque photos Rose had released online, came less than twenty four hours after Rose lost the NXT Women’s Title to Roxanne Perez. This left Rose’s Toxic Attraction teammates Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne with nothing to do, but according to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has plans to bring the two to the main roster without Rose. There is no timetable on when this would take place. The team has potential. C..
Maybe they’re next? WWE has a lot of talented stars up and down their roster, but the Monday Night Raw and SmackDown rosters are firmly above NXT. The NXT wrestlers are developmental stars whose ultimate goal is to make it to one of the main roster shows. It can be a huge deal when they get to make their debuts on the bigger shows, and now two stars will be doing so, at least in a way. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Mark It: Important Detail On Next WWE Event In Saudi Arabia According to a PWInsider.com Q&A session, NXT’s Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson/Elton Prince) are expected to work some main roster houses shows in January. This comes after rumors of the team moving up to the main roster after losing the NXT Tag Team Titles at Deadline, but there is reportedly nothing planned regarding a full time call up. It is not clear if WWE has any main roster plans for them after the string of house shows. The team is pretty deadly as well as awesome. Check out some of their better moments: [This post..
It’s something for them. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and it can be difficult for the company to find something for all of them to do. One of the best things that WWE has done is split its roster into three different groups. This includes the NXT developmental roster, whose primary goal is to be promoted up to the main roster. Several of them have been getting a bit of a preview lately and it is going well. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He Nailed It: Vince McMahon Refused To Let Kevin Nash Do Striptease Over the last several months, NXT stars have been appearing on WWE Main Event tapings. This has reportedly been done so WWE higher ups can see them in action outside of the NXT area. According to Fightful Select, WWE is happy with the buzz that the appearances have made, both for the wrestlers and NXT. There is no word on any NXT stars potentially moving up to the main roster. Some of these stars have potential. Check out some of the names who have been on Main Event: [Th..
They had an idea. Stables are a concept that has worked in wrestling for decades and continues to do so to this day. It makes a lot of sense as well, as a stable allows several people with anywhere from identical to even somewhat related goals a chance to be on television together. WWE has used them for years, but there was one reincarnation that they passed on instead. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: VIDEO: Kurt Angle’s Huge Birthday Celebration Continues After SmackDown Ends Back in 2015, a group of international stars joined forces as the League Of Nations. The team, comprised of Wade Barrett, Rusev, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio, were a force in WWE until April 2016 when they split up for good. During an appearance on the 10 Count podcast, former WWE Superstar Mojo Rawley revealed that WWE had considered relaunching the League Of Nations with Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura and himself. Rawley did not say when this would have taken place or how far along the plans went. Rawley’s role in the group..
She has goals. Wrestling and acting are often seen as going hand in hand despite only having a little bit to do with each other. However, there are some wrestlers who fit in rather nicely in the acting world and become quite the successes. Every wrestler turned actor has to start somewhere though and now a prominent wrestler has her eyes set on what would be a pretty big role. In a new interview with Comicbook.com, Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair said she hopes to move into Hollywood and land the role as Storm in an X-Men movie. This is not the first time that Belair has said this, as she previously mentioned wanting the role in 2022. At the moment, there is nothing to suggest that Marvel is considering Belair for the role, or that Storm will be portrayed in a movie anytime soon. There is a lot here. Check out the interview, plus Belair doing her more familiar job: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is one of thos..
As people outside of the big promotions like AEW, we often forget that we see these performers for maybe 30 mins of television time per week, which could be much less for underutilized talents. If you compare this to the standard 40 hour work week, we’re seeing so little of what actually goes into becoming a star in the wrestling business. For instance, Fuego Del Sol has been training extensively despite limited appearances on AEW programming over the course of 2022. He took to Twitter on Thursday to share his progress and goals into improving his craft as well as being prepared for any future opportunities. I bought a wrestling ring to take my in ring training to another level. Developed a new gym discipline. Working out 6 days a week and already see a difference in my body! Wrestling on the indies more so I stay ring ready and prepared for bigger AEW matches. Confidence way up! https://t.co/3rt9qzaiMn — Fuego Del Sol (@FuegoDelSol) November 17, 2022 During an exchange on Twit..
They have a goal in mind. There are a lot of very talented women in WWE and they have done a great job in bringing the women’s division up to a level that few believed possible. It has been quite the ride to see what has happened over the years and it has been very positive. At some point you need some fresh talent though and WWE seems to be looking into acquiring it. According to Fightful Select, WWE is looking to restock its women’s division with experienced stars. This includes the re-signing of Emma, along with interest in bringing back Tegan Nox and Chelsea Green. However, Green told Fightful that she has not been contacted about a return and has independent bookings set through March 2023. There is no word on other women potentially returning. Opinion: This is one of those ideas that makes a lot of sense, as signing a bunch of new stars to use as filler can damage their future potential. People like Emma, Nox and Green are names that have been around for a bit, either in WWE or..
Meet the new ones. There are a lot of people down in NXT whose goal is to make it up to the main roster. That is the entire point of NXT as a developmental system, as the wrestlers are hoping to get to Monday Night Raw or SmackDown. It can mean a lot to get such a promotion, and now three wrestlers have, albeit with a surprise new addition to the ranks of their group. This week’s SmackDown featured Hit Row coming to the ring for a match, only to be jumped by the debuting Legado del Fantasma. The team, comprised of Santos Escobar, Cruz del Toro and Joaquin Wilde, was missing Elektra Lopez, who was replaced by the returning Zelina Vega. The team beat down Hit Row and then introduced themselves to end the segment. Legado del Fantasma left NXT earlier this year, while Vega has been out of action with an injury since April. Opinion: The Legado promotion is long, long overdue and I’m not sure why it took so long to get them called up. Lopez being replaced by Vega makes a bit of sense, as V..
Moving on up. NXT is a rare breed in wrestling in that it is both its own thing as well as the WWE’s official developmental territory. Therefore the main goal of its stars is to be promoted to the main roster one day. It can be a career game changer for someone to be called up and now a group of several wrestlers could be getting the same kind of attention all at once. According to both PWInsider.com and Fightful Select, the entire Legado del Fantasma stable is expected to be moved to SmackDown in the near future, possibly as soon as this week. The team, comprised of Santos Escobar, Elektra Lopez, Cruz del Toro and Joaquin Wilde, left NXT earlier this year and have been expected to be called up to the main roster. There is no word on if there will be any changes to the team. Opinion: This is one of those long expected moves and it should be a good way to go for everyone. The team did well down in NXT and seem like they could be ready to go on the main roster. Just do the same thing t..
To the other show. There are all kinds of people on the NXT roster and their goal is to make it up to either Monday Night Raw or SmackDown. That is easier said than done as you need something to make it up to the next level. This time though, there were a few names who went the other way, as several main roster stars appeared on this week’s edition of NXT television. There were six main roster guest stars on this week’s edition of NXT. First of all, Byron Saxton served as a replacement commentator for Vic Joseph, who was married over the weekend. The Brawling Brutes also appeared, challenging Pretty Deadly for the NXT Tag Team Titles in the show’s main event. The Brutes were defeated, thanks to interference from SmackDown’s Imperium. Finally, Veer Mahaan appeared backstage and confronted his former partner Sanga, though nothing was said. Saxton and the Brutes were advertised in advance while the other three were surprises. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that I like to see happen ..
