It might work for her. Wrestlers have a long history with acting as the theory goes that wrestlers are already acting so they might be able to act on screen. That theory has only worked on occasion though as many wrestlers have tried and failed to start acting careers. It hasn’t stopped anyone though and now another wrestler might be in line for a huge movie role. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Bray Wyatt Sets His Sights On Some Huge Targets According to Giant Freakin Robot, WWE star Ronda Rousey is up for the role of Thundra in the upcoming “Captain America: New World Order” film. The film, the fourth in the Captain America film, is expected to be released on May 3, 2024. There is no word on how close Rousey is to accepting the role or how big of a role it would be. Rousey has dabbled in acting over the years, including in the Fast And The Furious and Expendables franchises. Rousey is already successful in the wrestling world. Check out some of her time there: [This post contains v..
It’s an idea. Wrestlers have a weird connection with acting, as they often act in their roles as wrestlers but they are rarely seen as anything more than a wrestler in mainstream acting roles. That gives them a very niche role to fill but occasionally someone will break out with a different kind of appearance. One WWE legend has an idea about how another legend should be used. September 17 was the annual Batman Day, which prompted several discussions related to the franchise. WWE got involved by sending out a tweet asking which WWE Superstar should play Batman. Hall Of Famer Kevin Nash responded with Randy Orton, who has dabbled in acting over the years. Nash has also acted, including in the comic book movies Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and The Punisher. Pick a WWE Superstar to play Batman.#BatmanDay — WWE (@WWE) September 17, 2022 @RandyOrton — Kevin Nash (@RealKevinNash) September 18, 2022 Opinion: This is one of those things that is little more than some fun and that is nev..
It’s been done. Wrestling is a unique form of entertainment, as it exists in its own bubble, with a unique presentation that makes it feel different than anything else. It is rare to see wrestling cross over with over forms of entertainment, but it certainly can make for some unique situations. That is what we are going to be seeing again next week in a bit of corporate synergy. The USA Network has announced that Chucky, the doll from the Child’s Play franchise, will be guest starring on the October 26 Halloween Havoc special edition of NXT. There is no word on what Chucky will be doing on the show. This will be the second time that Chucky has appeared on a wrestling show, as he appeared on WCW Monday Nitro on October 12, 1999. This is something different. Check out the announcement, Chucky’s time on Monday Nitro and what to expect from Halloween Havoc: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] ..
That’s an interesting take. AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works and has also come a long way in its short history. The company has rocketed up the charts, though things have also changed behind the scenes. This includes some adjustments to how much influence the top names have behind the scenes, which has changed the way they are viewed in front of the cameras. Now one of them has quite the opinion on how he is perceived. AEW Executive Vince President Cody Rhodes was a guest on Busted Open Radio and discussed the fans’ more negative reactions to his recent appearances. Rhodes talked about how his reception will be different depending on the location and he does not want to take the simple route of a boss abusing his power. He then went into an explanation based on Woody from the Toy Story franchise, saying that while he once was the most popular, now some new people have replaced him. Rhodes also said that he wants to ride this wave and enjoy all of it. Here are some of ..
That’s a big role. Wrestling and acting have one of the more confusing relationships in the world. Wrestlers are seen as actors but they rarely get the chance to act outside of roles playing wrestlers, as that is all they are seen as being. That has not been as bad in recent years though, as some wrestlers are getting the chance to branch out. One is doing so in a major way. Sasha Banks is one of the Four Horsewomen and has come a long way in her time on the main roster. After dominant the NXT Women’s Division, Banks moved up and has become a five time Raw Women’s Champion. It is easy to see why WWE would want to push her in a big way and she is going to get the chance in one of the bigger mainstream franchises in media history. Banks is featured in the new trailer for the second season of the Mandalorian, a Star Wars series airing on Disney+. Banks can be seen as a hooded character whose name and plot details are unknown. It is not clear if this will cause any changes to her role on..
When worlds collide. Whether you like it or not, Disney is the biggest entertainment company in the world and nothing is really even close. They own almost every top franchise today and several of the biggest of all time. That makes their stamp of approval all the more valuable and now they are putting some of their focus on the world of wrestling. Or at least something close to it. Wrestling does not have the best history when it comes to depictions on television. Several shows have not presented it in the best light as wrestling is often treated as a comedy performance rather than something serious. This isn’t always the case, and hopefully it is not what takes place when Disney airs a wrestling edition of one of its funnier animated shows. It could be interesting. Check out the trailer for the show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DglXM6nv2xso On Saturday, a new episode of DuckTales aired on Disney XD and featured a wrestling plot. During the show, the main characters are forced..
One of the biggest stories of the week was WWE’s massive layoffs and cuts to talent, coaches, producers, executives, etc. This was in response to the Coronavirus pandemic that is sweeping the world. However, an owner of a major league franchise has called this move ‘appalling’. According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, an anonymous owner of a sports team had the following to say to Dave Meltzer: “I’ve had to do two layoffs in my life. They both sucked, but I always understood they sucked more for the people being laid off. I know a few people in the wrestling business, one who lost their job in the furlough today. I understand layoffs. But given WWE’s cash position, the essential business status they negotiated, the unsafe conditions they are already asking workers to commit to and the fact that they are doing so much better than every other live / place-based business, for them to be THE FIRST company in the business to have such a significant layoff is u..
16-time WWE Champion John Cena was spotted auditioning for a prime role in an old Nickelodeon franchise that is looking to have a reboot, according to WWE’s official website. Adweek senior editor Jason Lynch snapped a photo to his Twitter account showing John Cena in the signature green striped shirt and khaki pants of Blue’s Clues host Steve. In the photo, Cena appears to be reading from a script or holding a thin green object while another woman is on the stage with him. Check it out: . @JohnCena auditioning to be the new #BluesClues host. pic.twitter.com/zuLXMCtHQ8 — Jason Lynch (@jasonlynch) March 6, 2018 While Nickelodeon is creating the revival, no further details are known as to whether the host will go by their real name and what the overall look of the reboot will be. Blue’s Clues originally launched on Nick Jr. back in 1996, and was in many ways similar to that of Dora or Diego the Explorers, with a live-action host and Blue, the animated puppy. Cena is scheduled to ho..

Drew McIntyre recently spoke with The UK Mirror. Here are some highlights from the interview:

WWE Return: It’s been a crazy couple of months. I was basically the busiest independent wrestler in the world, travelling the world back and forth. I was under contract at the time [with IMPACT Wrestling] and I elected not to sign my new contract. I had to make the best decision for my future and my family’s future. I was very, very lucky after so many people believing in me and working my arse off that I was able to take a pick of where I was going to go. But my mind was made up, if I got the opportunity… William Regal is one of my mentors and I had been talking with him the whole time I have been away from WWE. He has been giving me advice, watching my matches, so that’s pretty much where it came up. I had a good conversation with Triple H on the phone and as I say, my mind was made up where I wanted to go. NXT is the top roster in the world as far as I’m concerned, the work ethic and fans. Once I had that conversation my mind was beyond made up. That day when I showed up at the show was one of the wildest days of my life. I had a very busy day! I started at 8am, I had a signing, then a show in the afternoon, then a radio appearance, I had an additional signing, then showed up at the Evolve show at 8pm it started, I was out in the first segment, I believe I left the building at 8.20pm, drove straight to the Amway Center in Orlando, my wife was waiting with a suit at the back door. We ran in the back, I put the suit on, this was about 9pm, Orlando traffic so it took a while to get there, and I was sitting in my seat in front of 15,000 fans, and at not one point did I think to myself ‘I wonder how they’re going to react?’ until I sat in that seat, got my head down and thought ‘oh my God, I hope they remember me and have been following what I’ve been doing!’ When I showed up on camera and I saw and heard that reaction it was one of the best feelings in my life and I knew I had made the right decision.

Competing For The WWE UK Title: Absolutely. An opportunity to wrestle those guys would be a privilege. They are so talented and so young, it’s amazing the difference in the scene now, that people have so much talent to work with and get so advanced, those guys like Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne are just so unbelievably advanced for their age. I just had a match we taped for television just before the TakeOver, I was getting my gear off and watching it on my phone on the Network, and I stopped in my tracks as I was watching the match, sat in my underpants! I could not get changed, I just had to watch the entire match. I was blown away, I tweeted right away, ‘NXT UK TakeOver’ because I was shaking my head like ‘wow, when we first came over, there was nobody, just Sheamus, myself and Wade Barrett, there was nothing like this going on’. To watch the level of talent and that show-stealing performance just made me very proud of the lads and the UK scene in general.

The Rise of Jinder Mahal: I made the loudest noise in the world backstage when he won that title! I think I almost punched the roof I jumped and punched the air so much. Just to watch his turnaround is the biggest thing for me. I remember about a year and a half ago having a conversation with him. The second I was gone from the WWE, as you know, I started to write my mission statement, I just kept going, there was nothing else I was going to do. I had a clear vision and thankfully it just came out. With Jinder he went out, he wasn’t too sure what he wanted to do, and he talked about this on Chris Jericho’s podcast so I’m not speaking out of turn. He got himself out of shape, not wrestling so much. He wasn’t really sure what to do and we had a conversation when he wasn’t too sure about his future and was talking about opening I think it was a Subway franchise he was leaning towards and he’s got a couple of houses and real estate. Wrestling was pretty much off the table. Then one day he made a decision, ‘no, I’m going to get back in shape’. He started taking it seriously again, got back in shape, got the call from WWE, continued his path, worked hard, gave up alcohol, made these positive changes in his life and just started working his arse off. To watch him go from that conversation when he was out of shape to where he is today, the most in-shape guy on the roster and one of the hardest working guys, I’m very proud of my brother for earning that. That was a big moment for him and I couldn’t be prouder of him.

Being The Top Guy: I always have, 100%, I’ve never changed my opinion since I said that. He didn’t say the things he said for his health, he has done a lot with this business because of his eye for it. I wasn’t necessarily the guy he was looking for back then in a few different ways, but he certainly saw that raw talent and potential. I’ve been lucky that I’ve got myself through various opportunities and platforms and people believing in me, my wife helping in a lot of different areas, and growing up a lot, I’ve shown I am ready now to be a top guy, to hold that position for the company and show what it is to represent a giant, publicly traded company like WWE. There is so much more than just what you do in the ring and what you do on the microphone. As a kid I didn’t quite comprehend that, but now that’s something 100% I’m ready for. I’ve represented many people as the face of the company, proudly and I do it with joy and I do it with respect and make sure I elevate everywhere I go. I came to NXT to elevate it and I came back to WWE to fulfill the prophecy.
