They showed mutual respect for each other, as well as exchanged Lucha masks. We have some incredibly tragic news to report tonight as ROH superstar and one half of the current tag team champions, Jay Briscoe, as has passed away at the age of 38. According to a report from the Delaware State Police Department, Briscoe, whose real name is Jamin Pugh, was involved in a fatal car accident around 5:30 PM local time in Laurel, Delaware. The news was later confirmed by the local ABC affiliate, WMDT. ROH owner Tony Khan commented on the situation via Twitter: Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. WWE Officially Sends Former World Champion From Monday Night Raw To SmackDown
To the other side. There are so many wrestlers on the WWE roster that the company has divided them into a variety of roster. Some of those wrestlers perform exclusively, or close to it at least, on one brand or the other. You do not see many people move from one show to the other but now WWE has moved a living legend to the other main roster in order to keep him around. This week on SmackDown, Rey Mysterio made a surprise appearance, informing Triple H that he was going to be quitting the promotion due to his issues with his son Dominik. Triple H asked him to talk about it and officially moved Mysterio to the SmackDown roster. Mysterio was put into a fatal four way to crown a new #1 contender to the Intercontinental Title, which Mysterio went on to win. Opinion: This is a way to go and while it very well may be switched back later on, moving Mysterio to a new location is going to open some doors for him. History has been made! There are a lot of titles in the wrestling world and a lot of them are open for most wrestlers to win. However, there are some championships that are only available for a specific group of wrestlers, which means that the divisions can be a bit more compact. That was the case this week, as some new champions were crowned in a very specific division. This week’s NXT featured a fatal four way elimination match for the vacant NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles. Katana Chance and Kayden Carter defeated Toxic Attraction, Ivy Nile/Tatum Paxley and Valentina Feroz/Yulisa Leon to win the vacant titles. She’s a star. There have been a lot of wrestlers throughout WWE’s history but only a few of them have reached legendary status. With so many wrestlers spread across so many shows, it is not easy to build up every championship there is. Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter vacated the NXT UK Tag Team Titles this week as Smith has ruptured his MCL and will require surgery. As a result, a fatal four way match was held this week, with Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen winning the titles by defeating Mark Andrews/Wild Boar, Dave Mastiff/Jack Starz and Die Familie. There’s one. We are now done with Hell In A Cell, meaning Money In The Bank is right around the corner. The next major WWE pay per view is in less than a month and the show is going to need to be a big one. WWE knows to put on a special show and they have already started setting up the card, as a first title match was set for the show this very week. This week on Monday Night Raw, Rhea Ripley won a fatal four way match to become the new #1 contender for the Raw Women’s Title. As a result, Ripley will be challenging Bianca Belair for the title at Monday In The Bank on July 2. Ripley defeated Liv Morgan, Alexa Bliss and Doudrop to gain the title shot, pinning Doudrop with the Riptide in the show’s main event. Report: Tammy Sytch Caused Fatal Car Crash, DUI Suspected
According to multiple reports, WWE Hall of Famer Tammy Sytch, also known as Sunny, caused a car crash last month in which a 75-year-old man died. Police suspect that she was intoxicated during the incident. The Ormand Police Department has released new information which claims that Sytch was driving a 2012 Mercedes when she crashed into the rear of a 2013 Kia Sorento that had been stopped at a stoplight. The Kia then crashed into the back of a 2011 GMC Yukon that was also stopped at the stoplight. Two witnesses stated that Sytch had been “driving at a high rate of speed” before hitting the Kia. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died from injuries suffered in the wreck. The officers say Sytch was also transported to the same hospital with unknown injuries. Police say they believed Sytch was under the influence of alcohol when the crash occurred. Authorities took a blood sample after the accident, but the results are still pending.
