AEW Rampage Results – February 3, 2023

Rampage Date: February 3, 2023 Location: Nutter Center, Dayton, Ohio Commentators: Chris Jericho, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur Rampage continues to be a bit all over the place as you know most of the card/lineup in advance but it still feels like a show that could go in a bunch of different directions. That could be the case again this week as there is some star power with the Elite around to defend the Trios Titles. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Trios Titles: Elite vs. Isiah Kassidy/Matt Hardy/Ethan Page The Elite is defending and for the sake of simplicity, Matt Hardy will be referred to as Hardy and Matt Jackson will be referred to as Matt. Nick Jackson and Kassidy trade some flips and takedowns to start before Matt comes in to take over. Kassidy gets over to Hardy for the tag, so Omega gets the overly dramatic tag. Hardy sends Omega outside and goes up but Page tags himself in to take over instead. Omega snaps off a hurricanrana and it’s the Bucks coming back in for..

AEW Rampage Reviews – January 20, 2023

Rampage Date: January 20, 2023 Location: Save Mart Center, Fresno, California Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Chris Jericho We’re still in California and this week’s Dynamite is going to be a bit tough to follow. There is a good chance that we are going to get some solid matches though, as tends to be the case around here. Rampage can be rather fun when it comes to focusing on some of the lower level stuff and that might be what happens again this week. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jungle Boy vs. Ethan Page Isaiah Kassidy, Stokely Hathaway and Matt Hardy are here with Page. Chris Jericho rants about the fans singing along with Jungle Boy’s theme song as Page tries an Ego’s Edge out of the corner to start. That’s broken up and Page is sent to the floor, where he pulls Kassidy in the way of a dive. Back in and Page catches Jungle Boy on top but a dropkick puts him right back down. Hold on though as Hathaway interferes but blames Hardy, allowing Page to whip J..

AEW Dynamite Results – December 28, 2022

Dynamite Date: December 28, 2022 Location: 1st Bank Center, Broomfield, Colorado Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz It’s another stacked show this week with another Death Triangle vs. Elite match, plus the TNT Title is on the line as Samoa Joe defends against Wardlow. Other than that, we are going to hear from MJF, but Bryan Danielson might have something to say about him. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Bryan Danielson vs. Ethan Page Stokely Hathaway is here with Page…and hang on as here is MJF in a sky box to watch. The distraction lets Page jump Danielson, with MJF having his own mic to mock him for a bonus. Page hits a slam but Danielson is right back with a running clothesline. The chops rock Page and the kicks in the corner make it even worse. Page knocks him back down but Danielson manages to knock him off the top. The top rope dropkick drops Page but Danielson has to knock Hathaway’s hat off. The distraction doesn’t work for Page, who gets dropkicked to the flo..

AEW Dynamite Results – December 7, 2022

Dynamite Date: December 7, 2022 Location: H-E-B Center, Cedar Park, Texas Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Taz, Excalibur It’s the go home show for Final Battle and the Dynamite before next week’s Winter Is Coming so it is time to start hammering home the build for both shows. Believe it or not we have a battle royal this week for a shot at MJF’s….ring, rather than the World Title. That should get a lot of people on the show so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Battle Royal Ricky Starks, Brian Cage, Jungle Boy, Orange Cassidy, Shawn Dean, Dustin Rhodes, Lee Moriarty, Ethan Page, Matt Hardy, Kip Sabian, Dalton Castle, Butcher, Blade The winner gets to face MJF for the Dynamite Diamond whenever they decide. Sabian and Cassidy take turns ramming each other into the corner until the Butcher breaks it up. Cassidy is sent over the top so he tries to skin the cat, only to have Blade knock him out. Rhodes (hometown boy) hits a Canadian Destroyer on Sabian and clotheslines him out. Butcher c..

Pencil It Out: AEW Pulls Match From Full Gear, Reschedules It For Dynamite

Switch it up. AEW has been around for a little over three and a half years now and during that time they have established a schedule that they tend to follow for their major events. The company presents four regular pay per views, with the next installment coming this weekend. However, they have now made a last minute change, which will affect both this event and the next TV show. During a media call to promote Full Gear, AEW President Tony Khan announced that the finals of the Full Gear #1 contenders tournament have been moved from Full Gear to Dynamite. This comes after the first round match between Ricky Starks and Lance Archer was postponed due to Starks being not medically cleared to compete. The first round match will now take place on Rampage, with the winner facing Brian Cage on the Full Gear Zero Hour show. The winner of that will face Ethan Page on Dynamite. They have potential. Check out what we’ll be seeing on Rampage: [This post contains video, click to play] [This po..

REVIEW: PWG Mystery Vortex III: Ok That Makes More Sense

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Mystery Vortex III Date: June 26, 2015 Location: American Legion Post #308, Reseda, California Commentators: Excalibur, Rick Knox, Chris Hero, Joey Ryan, Ethan Page This is another PWG show that someone requested I do….a few years back now, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a bad one. From what I understand, the gimmick of this show is that the card isn’t announced until the wrestlers are coming out of the curtain. That should make for a fun show so let’s get to it. As usual, I don’t really follow PWG so I’m..

Hook Them Up: New Pairing Forms This Week On AEW Dynamite

Join the team. A manager can do quite a few positive things for a wrestler. There might be someone who needs someone to do the talking for them or someone who can bring some instant interest to them. AEW does that on a regular basis with a variety of managers who work for several wrestlers. Now they have another pairing which was formed this week and already has potential. This week on AEW Dynamite, Ethan Page was in the ring and complained about getting no attention in AEW. Page asked why he wasn’t having a match every week or why his face wasn’t featured in more advertising for the company. Stokely Hathaway came out and stared at Page before handing him his business card. The two left together, suggesting that Page has joined Hathaway’s group. Page had been associated with Dan Lambert for several months but there was no mention of Lambert this week. Opinion: This is something that could be interesting as Page does need something to do. Page has talent but he has not had the chance ..

AEW Dynamite Results – June 29, 2022 (Blood & Guts)

Dynamite Date: June 29, 2022 Location: Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, Michigan Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Tony Schiavone It’s another major show here as we go from Forbidden Door on Sunday to Blood & Guts tonight. That would be AEW’s version of WarGames, albeit with twelve people this time as the match needs to be bigger, but it does look good on paper. Other than that, I’m not sure what else we have as so much has been put into the New Japan stuff for the last few weeks. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Ethan Page vs. Orange Cassidy Before the match, Dan Lambert complains about the Best Friends being here because they aren’t official managers and we have regulations in his state. Oh and Cassidy is skinny and has no muscles whatsoever. Page starts fast and knocks him down but Cassidy nips up and grabs an armdrag to the floor. There’s the suicide dive, followed by the high crossbody for one back inside. Page is back up with some shots of his own and Cassidy gets knocked into the..

AEW Announces The Introduction Of A Brand New Title

Put something on the line. There are all kinds of titles in wrestling and some of them are rather prestigious. Fans have seen and heard of these titles for decades and some of them have been held by some of the biggest names in wrestling history. Every title has to come from somewhere though, and now another one is coming into existence, with a bit of a unique twist. The All Atlantic Title was announced this week on AEW Dynamite. The title represents the countries where AEW television airs, with a tournament to crown the inaugural champion consisting of international stars being announced. The first champion will be crowned at Forbidden Door in a four way match. Here are the brackets, including two wrestlers who will be announced later: Buddy Matthews Pac Ethan Page Miro Penta Obscuro Malakai Black New Japan Wrestler New Japan Wrestler Opinion: I’m not sure how much AEW needs another title but that is what they are getting no matter what. The tournament itself is barely a tournam..

Sammy Guevara & Tay Conti Announce Their Engagement

Wedding bells will be ringing! According to a report from TMZ, Sammy Guevara proposed to Tay Conti at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, earlier today. She said yes, and the couple is now engaged! The two have been a couple since January 2022. They have been regularly featured as an on-screen couple as well. This is not Guevara’s first proposal; he was in a relationship for eight years with Pamella Nizio, a medical worker from Houston. In August 2021, he proposed to her at an AEW show in Houston in the middle of the ring; however, they split up soon afterward in October. The two were recently in a trios match at the 2022 Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Together, they teamed with Frankie Kazarian to take on the team of Ethan Page, Scorpio Sky, and Page Van Zandt in a losing effort. Congratulations to the happy couple! Editor’s Opinion: I’m sure this will cause some controversy because there are some AEW fans who do not approve of this couple and how they act on screen. However, if..

New Grudge Match Likely Being Added To AEW Double Or Nothing

There is room for one more. We are less than a week away from AEW’s Double Or Nothing and the card is already stacked. The show has several title and grudge matches already set and there is not much left to do. AEW has set up a lot for the show but there is still room for a little bit more. As luck would have it, AEW has set up another match that would fit on the card and it seems that is what they are going to do. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW is planning on running a mixed tag match for Double Or Nothing. The match will feature Tay Conti/Sammy Guevara vs. Paige VanZant and either Scorpio Sky or Ethan Page. Guevara had agreed to the match weeks ago, though the participants were never specifically announced. It is not clear if the match will take place on the Buy In show or the regular show. Opinion: This is a match that would make sends based on what was set up on television, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be on the pay per view. I’m sure the match will work..

WRESTLING RUMORS: This AEW Star Has Caught WWE’s Eye

He has their attention. There is a lot of wrestling talent in the world today and it has spread to a variety of promotions. Rather than having one promotion dominate everything these days, both WWE and AEW continue to battle for talent, as wrestlers will occasionally move from one company to another. It turns out that an AEW wrestler has caught WWE’s eye through his work in the ring. According to the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, WWE is very high on AEW’s Ethan Page. The company likes Page’s wrestling and microphone skills and are very impressed with him. However, Page signed a new multi-year deal with AEW last year, meaning that he will be unavailable for WWE for years to come. Page is one of several AEW names that have gotten WWE’s attention, including Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Wardlow and Jade Cargill, though all of them are signed to AEW long term. Opinion: I can see why WWE would be impressed with Page, who has been a nice addition to the AEW roster. He can wrestle a quality enou..

Stick Around: AEW Signs Star To Multi-Year Extension

He’s in for the long haul. Despite everything that the company has accomplished so far, AEW has not been around for very long. We are still coming up on the three year anniversary of the company’s first show and there have been several roster changes since the debut. Now though, one wrestler is going to be sticking around after signing a new contract with the company. According to Fightful Select, AEW has signed Ethan Page to a long term extension with the company, with the deal being made at some point last year. The terms of the deal were not disclosed but it is expected to be a multiple year deal. Page debuted with the company in March 2021 and has become part of the Men of the Year stable along with Dan Lambert and Scorpio Sky. Opinion: Page might not be the biggest star in AEW but he is someone worth keeping around. AEW needs young stars who can be there in the coming years and that is what they are covering here. It is a good idea and something that seems to make both sides hap..

Huge Feud Teased On AEW Rampage After Surprise Return

That might be next. One of the most exciting things to see in wrestling is a return, as someone coming back to a company can be quite the game changer. Someone might have to leave for one reason or another but then their comeback can allow for something fresh to start up. This time around, it wasn’t so much something fresh as much as it was picking up where they left off. This week’s AEW Rampage featured the in-ring return of Jon Moxley, following his return to television on this week’s Dynamite. Moxley defeated Ethan Page and then left the ring, where he ran into Bryan Danielson, who was also making his return to television. Danielson mockingly applauded Moxley, who left without incident. The two had been possibly set to meet in the finals of the #1 contenders tournament at Full Gear 2021 before Moxley took a hiatus to attend rehab. Opinion: This is a good example of picking up where you left off, as these two seemed all but destined for a showdown at Full Gear. That would have been..

AEW Rampage Results – January 21, 2022

Rampage Date: January 21, 2022 Location: Entertainment & Sports Arena, Washington DC Commentators: Excalibur, Ricky Starks, Chris Jericho, Taz We’re coming off a not so great Dynamite but we have another special moment this week as Jon Moxley is getting back in the ring. It was a great feeling to see him back on Wednesday and now it’s time to show that he still has it in the ring. From just a wrestling perspective, it’s a relief that he wasn’t gone that long so he shouldn’t have much ring rust. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jon Moxley vs. Ethan Page Scorpio Sky is here with Page, who shoves Moxley down to start. Moxley kicks him in the ribs and elbows Page in the face to take over, setting up some shots to the face in the corner. Back up and Page knocks him outside, only to be sent hard into the barricade. Page goes intellectual and starts taking out Moxley’s knee, setting up a hanging spinning backbreaker for two back inside. Moxley misses a charge and goes into the post to ma..

New Matches Set For AEW Full Gear, Another Match Changed

It’s still growing. We are only a few weeks away from AEW Full Gear and that means it is time to start putting everything together. You can see most of the card already and that means AEW only needs to add in a few more things. That is one of the more interesting parts of a pay per view build but now they have added in a few more pieces to the card as a whole. There were two new matches added to the Full Gear card during this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, plus a previously announced match had a stipulation added. First up, the returning Darby Allin challenged Maxwell Jacob Friedman to a grudge match at Full Gear. This comes after Friedman attacked Allin a few weeks back, putting Allin on the shelf. The match was confirmed later in the night. Next, the Lucha Bros accepted FTR’s challenge for the AEW Tag Team Titles. This comes after FTR defeated the Lucha Bros for the AAA Tag Team Titles earlier in the month. Finally, Sammy Guevara defeated Ethan Page to retain the TNT Title. As a r..

Former AEW Champion Signs Long Extension With Company

Stick around for a bit. Despite the success that it has had, AEW has not been around all that long. We are still more than six months away from AEW’s first ever event, meaning that they do not have the deepest history to date. AEW has come a long way, but they have a much longer way to go. Now we know someone who is going to be around for the next stretch. During an interview with PWInsider.com, former AEW Tag Team Champion Scorpio Sky revealed that he has signed a new five year contract with AEW, which was signed around the September 5 All Out pay per view. It is not clear how much time Sky had on his contract before he signed the new deal. Sky is currently part of the Men of the Year with Ethan Page and is feuding with the Inner Circle. Sky has done well so far in AEW. Check out some of his time there: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Sky is one of the most dependable names ..

Impact Wrestling Doing Something Great During Coronavirus

That’s a rather nice thing to do. You can’t look anywhere at this point without seeing some news about the Coronavirus. There are very few positive stories around and that is the case with professional wrestling as well. With so many bad things going on, it would be nice to see something good for the industry for a change and that is the case, albeit from a place you might not have thought of for awhile. One of the biggest issues with having wrestling companies stop running shows is the lack of wrestlers being paid. There are a lot of wrestlers who are going to be out of work because there are no places for them to go while the Coronavirus is on the rampage. That is the kind of thing that can change the industry in a horrible way, but one company is doing something rather nice. Current Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champion Ethan Page sent out a tweet thanking Impact Wrestling for paying the wrestlers for the shows that were canceled throughout the end of March. The wrestlers are paid on..
