Occasionally it is due to a health reason that needs to be addressed, meaning they need to go away for the time being. That seemed to be the case with a WWE star last year, but now things are getting a bit more complicated. Nowhere is safe anymore. Following last night’s NXT: Vengeance Day premium live event, Shawn Michaels did a media conference call to discuss the show. However, he was not alone, as Grayson Waller decided to make his feelings known. Waller interrupted Michaels during the call and shared his frustrations about not being HBK’s guy. She’s back! Tonight on Smackdown, Sarah Logan made her return to WWE after being away from regular programming for over two years. Logan had been teased in recent vignettes with The Viking Raiders, and officially allied herself with the team on tonight’s show. You can already feel it. Earlier this week, Vince McMahon officially retired from WWE, meaning that we are entering into a brand new era in the company. This could be quite the change of pace and there is no way of knowing just how things are going to go. One of the biggest changes is going to be the lack of McMahon influence on the product and some of those changes have already started taking place. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, there were multiple changes made during this week’s SmackDown, the first show without McMahon in charge. Anything can happen in WWE. There are a lot of shows on the WWE calendar in any given year but there are some that stand out more than others. WWE has a series of signature shows that are bigger than the rest and as a result, they will have bigger stars around. While the shows can be planned out as well as possible, sometimes there are going to be some issues. That was the case with one of the most important ones this year. According to Fightful Select, there was a mishap backstage during the men’s Royal Rumble. Randy Orton was scheduled to enter the match at #28 but as he was ready to go through the curtain, Shane McMahon’s music played instead. McMahon went to the curtain to complain about the mistake but Orton burst into laughter and “fell to the floor” over the situation. McMahon entered at #28 and Orton composed himself before entering at #29. Both would be eliminated by Brock Lesnar, the match’s eventual winner. This is not a good time. WWE has been around for a very long time now and has been on top of the wrestling world for a good chunk of their tenure. This comes from a wide range of wrestlers, including several who are not active to television main eventers. The Men’s Royal Rumble Originally Had A Very Different Winner

That would have been different. The Royal Rumble has come and gone for the year and that makes for some very interesting possibilities. We now know what is likely to happen when it comes to some of the World Title matches at WrestleMania 38, as there are two brand new #1 contenders set. That being said, there is still time to change things up, and there was almost a very different result for one of the matches. According to PWInsider.com, the original plan for the men’s Royal Rumble would have seen Riddle winning rather than Brock Lesnar, who entered the match at #30 and won the match instead. Riddle was in the match as well, entering the match at #20 and lasting about twenty minutes with two eliminations before being eliminated by Lesnar. There was also a discussion of Riddle’s partner Randy Orton winning the match in his hometown, which would have tied Orton for the most Royal Rumble wins of all time. WWE Announces New Deal With Disney+ Hotstar

That’s a big deal. WWE is the biggest wrestling company in the world and has made a fortune through its licensing deals. By merely allowing other companies and platforms to air its content, WWE has managed to make enough money that it is guaranteed to be profitable for a long time to come. That has not stopped them from pushing on further though, and that is the case again with an international deal. WWE and Disney+ Hotstar have announced, by way of 411mania.com, that the WWE Network will be available on Disney+ in Indonesia. This is similar to Peacock airing WWE Network content in the United States, with the deal including this weekend’s Royal Rumble. The deal is WWE’s first of any kind with Disney, though it is not clear if the two sides will be entering into any more agreements going forward. That’s a lot of money. WWE has made a fortune by producing so much content that they are constantly in demand. Other platforms are interested in bringing over WWE and everything that they can showcase, which comes with a built in audience. That can come at a high price tag, and now it seems that one of WWE’s biggest partners has paid for quite a few of those price tags. According to Variety, Peacock, the official platform for the WWE Network in the United States, lost $1.7 billion in 2021, doubling its losses from last year. Peacock is entering its third year of availability and features Universal films, NBC television and WWE content. Wrestling Legend Reveals Serious Health Troubles Caused By Alcohol Abuse

It could be worse. One of the more surprising wrestling stories of the year was the announcement that AEW’s Jon Moxley would be entering rehab for alcohol issues. The story came out of nowhere but was a good example of someone realizing that they had a problem and getting the help that they needed. It’s not the easiest story to hear, and now we are hearing something similar. In an interview with Oricon News (with translation courtesy of 411mania.com), wrestling legend and former WWE Women’s Champion Bull Nakano revealed that she was hospitalized last year with cirrhosis of the liver due to alcohol abuse. Nakano said that she refused to go to the hospital due to worrying about work but her symptoms eventually became too bad. Her husband eventually found out how bad things were for Nakano and convinced her to go to the hospital.
