If you missed WWE Raw on May 19, 2025, you missed a night that had it all—surprise alliances, brutal beatdowns, and the kind of drama that makes you yell at you...
They did well. WWE normally runs a premium live event a month on average, many of which have been running for a very long time now. It makes for quite the tradition as you know what you are going to get most of the time, which can help build up the anticipation. That was the situation over the weekend and now it seems that WWE has done rather well with its annual event. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Showdown Time: Here Are Two More Showdowns You Can Pencil In For WrestleMania 39 Over the weekend, WWE presented its annual Elimination Chamber event, featuring a pair of the show’s namesake matches and Roman Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Title against Sami Zayn. WWE has announced that the show is both the highest grossing and most viewed Elimination Chamber in history. The show also broke the record for the largest gate ever for a WWE event in the city of Montreal. It was an eventful show. Check out some of the highlights: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post..
Those are big ones. We are less than forty days away from WrestleMania 39 and the card is starting to come together. There have been some matches already announced and there are some that are all but announced. At the same time there have been some hints dropped and now we might know a bit more about two matches that are still set to be confirmed for the show. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Grayson Waller Hijacks NXT, Calls Out Shawn Michaels To Meet Him Last week on SmackDown, Bray Wyatt challenged the winner of the Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley Elimination Chamber match to meet him. Lashley went on to win the match via DQ when Lesnar kicked him low. The following Monday on Monday Night Raw, MVP called out Lesnar to face Omos at WrestleMania, with a contract signing coming next week. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is planning to run both Lashley vs. Wyatt and Lesnar vs. Omos at WrestleMania. It is not clear when the matches will be made official. There are some talented..
Rampage Date: February 3, 2023 Location: Nutter Center, Dayton, Ohio Commentators: Chris Jericho, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur Rampage continues to be a bit all over the place as you know most of the card/lineup in advance but it still feels like a show that could go in a bunch of different directions. That could be the case again this week as there is some star power with the Elite around to defend the Trios Titles. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Trios Titles: Elite vs. Isiah Kassidy/Matt Hardy/Ethan Page The Elite is defending and for the sake of simplicity, Matt Hardy will be referred to as Hardy and Matt Jackson will be referred to as Matt. Nick Jackson and Kassidy trade some flips and takedowns to start before Matt comes in to take over. Kassidy gets over to Hardy for the tag, so Omega gets the overly dramatic tag. Hardy sends Omega outside and goes up but Page tags himself in to take over instead. Omega snaps off a hurricanrana and it’s the Bucks coming back in for..
The original plan. We are in the middle of the holiday season and that means things can go a little bit different in WWE. This includes taping some shows in advance so the wrestlers can have a bit of time off. WWE did just that this week as they taped a pair of SmackDowns on the same night. However, things were not quite as they were planned, with one wrestler missing the event. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: A Way To Go: WWE Hall Of Famer Thinks 44 Year Old Could End Retirement Soon This week’s edition of SmackDown aired live and was focused around an upcoming tag match between Roman Reigns/Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens/a partner of his choosing. The end of the show saw John Cena revealed as Owens’ partner, though Owens never appeared. According to Fightful Select, Owens was originally scheduled to appear on the show and introduce Cena as his partner in person. However, Owens was forced to miss the show due to what was described as a “nightmare travel situation”. Owens and Cena are scheduled to..
Three on each side. We are coming up on one of the biggest WWE shows of the year with November 5’s Crown Jewel. The show will be taking place in Saudi Arabia as part of WWE’s working relationship with the kingdom. The events often feature major stars in showdowns, some of which have been built up for white awhile. Now another match has been set up for the show, featuring quite a bit of star power. This week on Monday Night Raw, a six man tag was announced for Crown Jewel, featuring AJ Styles and the OC against Judgment Day. The feud started last week when the OC returned to help Styles fight against Judgment Day after several weeks. As a result, Judgment Day issued the challenge, with Styles accepting for the team. The match is the second announced for the card, following Logan Paul challenging Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Title. Opinion: You almost had to know that this match was coming sooner or later so it makes sense to put it on the biggest upcoming show WWE has..
It isn’t going well. The rise of technology has changed the way the wrestling world works in a very good way. Fans are now able to see more content than they have ever been able to see before from the comfort of their own home. However, there are also downsides to this technology and that was on display this week as some stars got into an argument in a rather public setting. AEW’s Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo have gotten in a Twitter argument. The issues began with an interview that El Idolo gave (in Spanish) saying that Guevara complained about El Idolo hitting too hard in the ring. El Idolo said Guevara was the only one who ever complained, as the solution was to hit back harder. Guevara sent out a tweet of his own, albeit without referencing El Idolo, saying “You are a jobber. A favor hire. Be grateful b****.” El Idolo responded, with Guevara’s name, saying that if he has a problem with someone, he says it to their face. The two have continued to go back and forth throughout..
That’s a thing that can happen. Wrestling has changed a lot in recent years and those are not changed that can be reversed. One of the biggest changes has come through social media, as wrestlers are now more accessible than they ever have been before. That has several benefits but also several downsides, one of which was learned firsthand recently by a wrestling legend. Over the weekend, WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley announced via Facebook that his Twitter had been hacked, with the hacker attempting to extort money from him. As a result, Foley asked fans not to interact with his Twitter until he told them via video that the account was back under his control. Foley has since released a video announcing that he was able to regain control without having to pay the hacker. This is good to hear. Check out Foley’s announcement with some more details about what happened: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is something that unfortunately happens every now and then and ..
Call it a sacrifice. Over the weekend, WWE presented its annual Summerslam event, featuring some of the biggest matches of the year. The show featured a series of title matches, including some rather big showdowns. One of the last matches of the show certainly fit that description, but it did not wind up lasting very long. It turns out that was due to another match entirely. The semi-main event of Summerslam saw Ronda Rousey failing to regain the SmackDown Women’s Title from Liv Morgan. The two went to a controversial ending with Morgan tapping out just before she pinned Rousey, though the referee only saw the pin. It was a relatively short match at less than five minutes, which was due to another match running long. According to Bryan Alvarez, the match had “a lot” of time cut due to Miz vs. Logan Paul running long earlier in the night. There is no word on how long Morgan vs. Rousey was scheduled to last. That match had a lot of time cut because Miz and Logan went long. HOW ABOUT WE..
Put it in the trophy case. There are a lot of very talented wrestlers in the world, as getting in the ring and having a match is quite the impressive feat. It takes a lot of skills to make something like that work and you can see some of the best in the world do it every week on AEW TV. This time though, one of AEW’s top stars has accomplished something impressive of his own, and it has nothing to do with wrestling. AEW’s Chris Jericho has announced that his band Fozzy’s Judas has earned a gold record, meaning that it has sold five hundred thousand copies. Jericho made the announcement in a tweet and thanked everyone who helped the record reach the milestone. Judas has served as Jericho’s theme music in AEW since his debut and the live audience sings along with it during Jericho’s entrance. For 22 years I’ve heard all the cutdowns & insults about @FOZZYROCK. Well now, WE can all stand behind what our band and hundreds of thousands of our fans worldwide have always known… FOZZY ROCKS!..
Monday Night Raw Date: June 20, 2022 Location: Pinnacle Bank Arena, Lincoln, Nebraska Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We are less than two weeks away from Money in the Bank and that means we are probably in for some qualifying matches. Those can make for some interesting showdowns, though I’m not sure I would get my hopes up for that around here. On top of that, Riddle gets to deal with the fallout of losing to Roman Reigns on Smackdown. Let’s get to it. In Memory Of Tim White. Here is Bianca Belair for a chat. After getting in her catchphrases, she says that the match with Rhea Ripley isn’t happening….for now. So who gets the title shot at Money in the Bank instead? Tonight we have five women competing, in the form of Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Carmella, Asuka and Becky Lynch, in a fatal five way match to see who gets the shot. All five competitors come out one by one to say they should get the title shot while also taking shots at each other. Belair says she is..
Smackdown Date: May 27, 2022 Location: Simmons Bank Arena, Little Rock, Arkansas Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee We’re almost up to Hell In A Cell and that means it might be time to actually add some things to the card. I’m not sure what the main event is actually supposed to be but maybe we get something else this week. If nothing else, New Day has a mystery partner to FINALLY wrap up their feud with the Brawling Brutes. I’m sure. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of the Usos taking out RKBro last week to unify the Tag Team Titles. Randy Orton was injured pretty badly last week to put him on the shelf for the time being. Here are the Usos for a chat. After thanking Roman Reigns for making this possible, we hear about how the Usos recently celebrated twelve years in this company and they couldn’t have done it without the fans. The fans have cheered and booed them while seeing their up and definitely (Jey’s word) seeing their downs. After all their time together and all th..
Fast turnaround. We are done with the biggest wrestling weekend of the year and a lot went down. There were major matches, several showdowns and big moments that changed the way a lot of stories go. This included a variety of title changes, some of which might not have been the biggest surprises. What was a surprise was having the title change back almost immediately. The Kickoff Show match for Saturday’s NXT Stand & Deliver saw Dakota Kai/Raquel Gonzalez take the Women’s Tag Team Titles from Toxic Attraction. However, Toxic Attraction took the titles back from Kai and Gonzalez this week on NXT, ending their reign at three days. This is actually longer than Kai and Gonzalez’s first reign as champions, as they lost the titles the night they were awarded them in March 2021. Opinion: I’m not sure I get this, as the title change felt lik the whole picture was changing. Apparently that is not the case though and now we have things right back where they were on Saturday morning. In theory ..
That could be interesting. Professional wrestling is about telling stories and there have been some very interesting ones told over the years. This has made for some fascinating television as you can see how all of the characters come together to make something work. Now we might be seeing a twist on it though, as we could be seeing a show about the business itself. According to Deadline, NBCUniversal is developing a series called Pinned, which will be set in a fictional wrestling promotion. The series will have FOX Sports’ Tom Rinaldi and Vince McMahon as executive producers and is described as: “…an “adrenalized” upstairs-downstairs soap that gives a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional wrestling promotion and the “unforgettable” characters that populate it. Pinned offers a front-row seat into the eccentric wrestling culture and the mayhem that exists between the locker room and the boardroom.” There is no word on when or where the series will air, as NBCUniversal has not tied it..
NXT Date: March 29, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett It’s the go home show for Stand & Deliver and the card is all but set. We still have some matches that need a final push though and that is where this week’s show comes in. If nothing else, there is one spot left in the North American Title ladder match and it gets filled in this week. Let’s get to it. Imperium vs. LA Knight/MSK Knight and MSK jump Imperium from behind to start and they start fast, with Knight and Barthel trading wristlocks. Barthel gets taken down and MSK hits a neck crank into a basement dropkick. A cheap shot finally takes Knight down though and Barthel kicks him in the chest. The fans want Gunther and receive him almost immediately, with some kicks tot he back keeping Knight in trouble. It’s already off to Aichner for a slam into the ropes for two and the beating villains continue their alternating beatdowns. Knight finally fights his way over to ..
He did it again. With about six weeks to go until WrestleMania 38, it is time to really start hammering the card home. That can be easier said than done, but there is still time to get the show ready. That includes getting the title matches ready, including both of the men’s World Title showdowns. Now it seems that we have another match set for the biggest shows of the year. This weekend, Brock Lesnar won the WWE Title inside the men’s Elimination Chamber at the event of the same name. Lesnar last eliminated Austin Theory to win the title, after reigning champion Bobby Lashley was injured during the match and never officially entered. This sets up Lesnar, the men’s Royal Rumble winner, for a champion vs. champion match with Universal Champion Roman Reigns, though it is not clear if one or both titles will be on the line. Opinion: The Lashley aspect does give them an out, but I’m almost scared to see how the title match goes. WWE has not done the best job of building up extra people o..
His vision his elsewhere. Earlier today, WWE superstar Mustafa Ali sent a tweet out requesting that he be released from the company. The tweet featured a short video, with the following message: “I have a message that is much bigger than my dreams in pro wrestling. Despite my best efforts, I will not be able to deliver this message while working with WWE. Therefore, I am requesting my release from WWE.” i am requesting my release from wwe pic.twitter.com/Q1QP8SA5zV — Mustafa Ali / Adeel Alam (@AliWWE) January 16, 2022 Ali has had a career of ups and downs in WWE. He has been with the company since 2016, beginning on 205 Live, eventually making his way to the main roster in 2018 as a member of Smackdown. He would eventually become the leader of the stable Retribution in 2020, before feuding with Mansoor in the later part of 2021. We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available to us. Editor’s Opinion: I honestly don’t blame Mustafa Ali for want..
It was a busy night. We are less than two weeks away from the Royal Rumble and the card has mostly come together. In addition to the show’s two namesake matches, there are some other huge showdowns set for the show. That includes a pair of World Title matches and one of them received some special attention after the cameras stopped rolling this week. This week’s edition of SmackDown ended with Seth Rollins running away from an attack at the hands of the Usos and Roman Reigns. Following the show going off the air, Reigns and Rollins continued to tease a fight but never got around to it, as the Usos attacked Rollins again. A video of the confrontation has been uploaded to Twitter and according to 411mania.com, a six man tag followed, with Rollins and the Viking Raiders defeating Roman Reigns and the Usos. It was quite the moment. Check out what happened after SmackDown went off the air: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: They are doing a good job of saving the violent..
Monday Night Raw Date: January 10, 2022 Location: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We are less than three weeks away from the Royal Rumble and the show is starting to come together. It seems that we have a pair of World Title matches and a good number of names set for both Royal Rumble matches. There are still some things that need to be done though and some of that should be taken care of tonight. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Brock Lesnar becoming WWE Champion at Day One and Bobby Lashley becoming #1 contender last week. Here are Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman, with Bobby Lashley and MVP watching backstage. The Hurt Business comes up to Lashley and are glad to have the team back together. Lashley says not so fast because he works alone, with MVP nodding in agreement. Back in the arena, Heyman does the intro and Lesnar is happy to be here. Cue Lashley and MVP to interrupt and the staredowns are on. MVP ha..
