Impact Wrestling Results – February 9, 2023

Impact Wrestling Date: February 9, 2023 Location: Osceola Heritage Park, Kissimmee, Florida Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt No Surrender is coming up and most of the card has been set up so far. That includes the World Title match, which has not exactly gotten a ton of hype. Maybe it is because it seems we have another challenger on the horizon, but Rich Swann challenging Josh Alexander isn’t exactly feeling huge. Hopefully they can get some more of it covered this week so let’s get to it. Opening recap. Matt Cardona arrives and says he’s in the main event tonight. He is shown to his private dressing room with champagne and shrimp cocktails, but it turns out this is Joe Hendry’s room. Cardona is shown to a closet instead. No Surrender #1 Contenders Qualifying Match: Brian Myers vs. Dirty Dango They run the ropes to start until Dango armdrags him into an armbar. Myers’ sunset flip is blocked and Dango drops a leg before they head outside. A posting cuts Dango off and of..

It’s a change. There are all kinds of ways to present a wrestler and some of them work better than others. A slight tweak in how a wrestler comes off can change everything about them, either for good or bad. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: King Time: Jim Ross Provides Health Update On Jerry “The King” Lawler Following Stroke Dirty Dango, formerly known as Fandango during his time in WWE, was a guest on the Windy City Slam podcast where he confirmed that he had signed a one year contract to join the Impact Wrestling roster. Dango also talked about wanting to transition to a more serious style rather than his established comedy style. There is no word on how he plans to make such a transition, but he did say he was already enjoying wrestling more serious matches. Dango is a talented star. Check out what he can do in the ring: [..

Bound For Glory 2022 Date: October 7, 2022 Location: Washington Avenue Armory, Albany, New York Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan It’s the biggest night of the Impact year and the show doesn’t look too bad. Honor No More is in a pair of title matches, including the show’s main event, so tonight might determine all of the group’s future. Myers is defending in an open challenge and it’s……Dirty Dango (Fandango) for a surprise. Feeling out process to start with Dango hitting a dropkick to put the champ down. A legdrop gives Dango two and it’s time for Myers to bail out to the floor. Myers wins the fight outside as we go to French commentary for a bit. Back in and the chinlock goes on, with the fans trying to cheer Dango back up to his feet. Some stomping sets up another chinlock but Dango sends him outside for the slingshot d..

NXT Date: September 27, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett Things got shaken up in a big way last week as Ilja Dragunov debuted to add quite the wild card. JD McDonagh is the new #1 contender to Bron Breakker’s NXT Title but Dragunov is going to be put into a top spot rather quickly. This should be interesting on top of everything else around here so let’s get to it. Here is Ilja Dragunov to get things going. He has beaten a monster to win gold before and now he is ready to do it again. This time it isn’t Gunther though, but rather Bron Breakker. Cue JD McDonagh to call Dragunov a sneaky, dirty little rat and to say that he hopes Dragunov’s ankle is healed. McDonagh offers to end Dragunov’s career but here is Breakker to interrupt. Breakker says the title isn’t going anywhere but McDonagh has an idea: Dragunov vs. Breakker with McDonagh being there for to face the winner. That doesn’t work for Breakker, who says if his ma..

WWE Changes Longstanding Rule About “Dirty Words”

Get your scripts updated. WWE has been undergoing a variety of changes and some of them are going to be felt for a long time to come. Most of these changes have been behind the scenes, but a good many of those are going to have an impact on what happens in front of the camera. That seems to be the case again, as some longstanding rules might be relaxed a bit. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is relaxing its rule on the use of the terms “wrestler” and “wrestling” in promos. Previously, the terms needed prior authorization to be used but now the terms are no longer considered dirty. This is said to be part of the changes taking place in WWE, many of which are seen as positives. Triple H is now in charge of both creative and talent relations and is said to be someone who cares about talent. Opinion: This is the kind of change that seems like the most logical idea in the world. At the end of the day, only WWE would ever think to call itself sports entertainment rather ..

Former WWE Star Clarifies Comments, Not Retiring

Stick around for a bit. Wrestlers are a lot like other athletes in that they have to hang up their boots one day. That is a bit trickier for a wrestler though as it is rather easy to be able to stick around for one more match here or there, especially with so many promotions available. It seems that the news of someone no longer wrestling might have been a bit exaggerated. Earlier this year, Dirty Dango (formerly known as Fandango in WWE) said that he would be stepping away from wrestling in the next few months. The tweet also said “Goodbye forever”, which was taken to mean that Dango was retiring. However, in an interview with the Dropkick Podcast, Dango explained that he was not retiring, but rather not wrestling as much. Dango said that he will be putting more time into his construction business as well as having surgery on his knee. He also wanted to get away from Twitter, which he described as a very negative platform. Opinion: I can see why there was some confusion and thankful..

Former WWE Star Announces That He Is Stepping Away From Wrestling

It was nice while it lasted. There are a lot of wrestlers in WWE’s history and some of them have done some very memorable things. While they might not have all had the same amount of success, all of them have been around for at least a little while, meaning at some point their career has to end. It seems that we will be seeing that take place again sooner rather than later. Dirty Dango, formerly known as Fandango in WWE, has announced that he will be stepping away from the ring in the next few months. He also says “Goodbye forever”, suggesting that he is retiring from wrestling. There was no explanation given for why he is stepping away from the ring. Dango, 38, has been wrestling since 1999 and wrestled for WWE from 2006-2021, when he was released. He has most recently wrestled on the independent circuit, including for the NWA. I’ll be stepping away from the ring in couple months . Goodbye forever . — Dango (@DirtyDangoCurty) March 25, 2022 Opinion: This is something that always f..

WWE Hall Of Famer Announced For New Celebrity Dancing Show

It’s a spot. Wrestlers are in a weird place when it comes to celebrity status. Yes they are famous and people who are on television every single week, but ultimately they are known for one thing and one thing only. Every now and then you get to see someone move into another area and get exposure on a new stage. That is the case again with a soon to be returning WWE star. According to Yahoo News, WWE Hall of Famer Brie Bella has been announced for the upcoming FOX celebrity competition show The Real Dirty Dancing. Bella will be part of the cast, which also includes Corbin Bleu, Tyler Cameron, Cat Cora, Howie Dorough, Antonio Gates, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes and Loni Love. The show debuts on February 1, three days after Bella is returning to the ring as part of the women’s Royal Rumble on January 29. Opinion: Bella is one of the wrestlers who has managed to make it to a certain level of success outside of wrestling and a lot of that is due to her reality show efforts. If nothing else, at l..

WWE Once Had Some Different Plans For The Intercontinental TItle

What could have been. Winning a title is one of the most important things that a wrestler can do in their career. It is a symbol that you have arrived and that the promotion you are working for sees something in you. There are a lot of titles floating around WWE these days but picking up some gold still means a lot no matter what it may be. One recently released wrestlers was ready to win something, but then plans changed in a sad way. Dirty Dango, formerly known as Fandango in WWE, was a guest on Insights with Chris Van Vliet and revealed that he was scheduled to win the Intercontinental Title. Dango was scheduled to win the title but was then suffered a concussion during a match with Great Khali. Rather than explaining this to WWE, Dango continued to wrestle and was concussed again during a match with Zack Ryder. WWE then found out that he was injured and pulled him off the road. Here’s How Vince McMahon Wants to Use The Velveteen Dream at the Main Roster

The Velveteen Dream is one of the most interesting gimmicks on all of WWE television because almost no one thought it would work in the beginning. The NXT Universe has embraced the gimmick. “The Dream” put on a great performance and almost captured the NXT Championship from Tommaso Ciampa during NXT Takeover: War Games II. At 23 years old, the sky is the limit for the young performer that most people are calling a “prodigy.” However, there’s a lot of concern regarding how The Velveteen Dream will be used on the main roster eventually. Real Reason Why Roman Reigns is WWE’s Top Merchandise Seller Revealed

Recently, it was reported on WrestlingRumors that Roman Reigns had surpassed John Cena as WWE’s top merchandise seller. On paper, that’s a good thing. A lot of fans and analysts question how Cena’s sales are still so high despite barely being on WWE TV. Others have blamed Roman’s complex dynamic with the WWE Universe as the reason why he hasn’t surpassed Cena until now. However, DirtySheets has revealed the details behind WWE’s merchandise sales and why Roman Reigns is considered the top seller. Related: WWE Officials Blame Jinder Mahal For Lackluster Roman Reigns Feud According to the report, “The Big Dog’s” individual merchandise sales are not strong at all. By item, Roman’s merchandise sales have been disappointing, but his numbers are so high because of the number of items being sold. WWE Officials Cancel King of the Ring Tournament

On June 18th and 19th, the United Kingdom Championship tournament will be filmed in the Royal Albert Hall in London. It will air a week later on the WWE Network. The event is being used to promote the UK series that is currently being developed. However, that isn’t what WWE officials originally had in mind for the United Kingdom tournament. The original concept was to bring back the “King of the Ring” tournament for the event and use it as a launching pad for the UK series. According to a report from DirtySheets, the original plans for the UK King of the Ring tournament were rumored. There was a lot of speculation from the WWE Universe about the concept coming back this year. Related: “King of the Ring” Could Be Returning to WWE However, Triple H and WWE never specifically mentioned or promoted the tournament with King of the Ring attached to it. As a result, it was easy to scrap those plans. It’s still plausible WWE could be planning a surprise for the event, but that seems very un..

The latest update claims WWE officials have offered him a three years extension, but Bryan hasn’t signed a new deal just yet. More importantly, WWE officials know Bryan has options outside of the company and could wrestle anywhere ..

Here’s Why Vince McMahon Has Lost Interest in Bobby Roode

During his time on SmackDown Live, Bobby Roode became a babyface and eventually won the United States Championship. The WWE Universe was expecting more from him with WWE, but his move to Raw after WrestleMania 34 seemed to be another chance. He’s set to participate in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, but no one is expecting him to win the briefcase. It seems that his fans should not expect anything bigger and better from Roode in the future. Apparently, Vince McMahon has lost interest in him. Related: Bobby Roode Comments On The Popularity Of His ‘Glorious’ Entrance According to a rumor from DirtySheets, Vince McMahon was unimpressed during his time on SmackDown Live. During his feud with Dolph Ziggler, The Boss compared the crowd response to his entrance to The Show Off’s. That was enough for McMahon to make up his mind about him and Roode has yet to change Vince’s mind about him. It doesn’t help that Roode is a natural heel. He’s been playing a babyface since debuting on the m..
