REVIEW: Hell In A Cell 2017: The Shane McMahon Does Something Stupid Show

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Hell in a Cell 2017 Date: October 8, 2017 Location: Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, Michigan Commentators: Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton, Corey Graves It’s time for the Shane McMahon Does Something Stupid Show. The main event tonight is Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens inside the show’s namesake structure as Shane fights to defend his family’s honor. Other than that we have the Usos challenging the New Day for the Tag Team Titles inside the Cell too. Let’s get to it. On the Kickoff Show, Tye Dillinger mentions to Daniel..

REVIEW: Backlash 2017: They Actually Did That

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Backlash 2017 Date: May 21, 2017 Location: Allstate Arena, Chicago, Illinois Commentators: Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s time for another Smackdown exclusive, which could mean things are hit or miss tonight. The card isn’t exactly the best with Jinder Mahal challenging Smackdown World Champion Randy Orton and AJ Styles challenging Kevin Owens for the US Title. Other than that though, this is kind of a stretch for a pay per view. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden Engl..

REVIEW: WCW Monday Nitro – February 26, 2001: They’re Getting Close

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Monday Nitro #284 Date: February 26, 2001 Location: Lakefront Arena, New Orleans, Louisiana Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Scott Hudson We had a pretty good show on Wednesday so maybe we’re in for something a bit better than usual this week. The big story is Diamond Dallas Page as the latest great hope against the Magnificent Seven and at least the big match should be better than the mess of Steiner vs. Nash. Let’s get to it. We open with Kronik having been laid out in the back and Doug Dillinger accusing Totally ..

Tye Dillinger Officially Asks For His WWE Release. Has It Been Granted?

Can you count to ten? Over the last few weeks there have been very few stories more interesting than a huge group of WWE wrestlers trying to get a release from WWE. While none of them have been successful yet and there have been some questions about how accurate some of the requests have been, we now have one that is straight from the horse’s mouth. Or wrestler’s fingers in this case. In a new post on his Instagram, Tye Dillinger says that he has requested his release from WWE. While he doesn’t say one way or another, the way he words the statement makes it sound like the request was granted. Dillinger has been on the main roster for just shy of two years and has had rather limited success, with his high point being a few shots at the United States Title. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ronnie Arneill (@wwedillinger) on Feb 19, 2019 at 9:00pm PST This was as great of a debut as you could have had. A SmackDown Live Superstar May Have Been Injured At A House Show

That’s a relief. Every time a wrestler goes into the ring, you never know what’s going to happen. While wrestlers are professionals and some of the best trained performers in the world, there’s always the chance that someone is going to get injured. It can happen all the way from the main event of WrestleMania to the lowest of house show matches, which is what happened on Sunday night. According to Ringsidenews.com, Tye Dillinger seemed to have been knocked out during a match with Shelton Benjamin in Florence, South Carolina. The details are sparse but it seems to be due to Dillinger taking a hard bump. There is no word on whether or not the match was finished or if Dillinger got back to his feet. At the moment it isn’t clear if he was selling or actually knocked out. @davemeltzerWON Tye Dillinger appeared to get legit ko'd during a match with Sheldon Benjamin at the house show in Florence SC tonight. Baron Corbin on WWE: “[I] Thought It Was Going To Be Easy”

Baron Corbin was recently interviewed by Sky Sports, where he discussed his time in WWE and how he thought the transition to the company would be. He recently competed on “Smackdown Live” against Tye Dillinger, and you can see a clip of that match below: [This post contains video, click to play] Below are some highlights from the interview: On joining NXT and WWE: “Honestly, I was a little bit arrogant because I came in and thought it was going to be easy and that I’d be on television in a year, no problem. “Then you realise how many different things it takes to become a successful superstar, and it really is a rude awakening. I thought it would take a year, but it was three and a half years later that I got called up (to the main roster). It is not easy. “I didn’t realise how much detail went into it all and it was a rude awakening for me and it was humbling.” On if professional wrestling gets the respect it deserves: “I definitely don’t think it does. I would challenge anyon..

Several Names Added to Both “Wrestlemania” Battle Royals

Andre would be proud. With “Wrestlemania XXXIV” less than three weeks away, it’s time to start filling in the final spots on the card. This includes adding names to the men’s and women’s battle royals, the former of which was only confirmed this week. Several names were added this week on “Smackdown Live”. They’ve fought before and they’ll fight again in New Orleans. [This post contains video, click to play] This week, Baron Corbin and Tye Dillinger were both added to the men’s battle royal. In addition, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan, Naomi and Becky Lynch were all confirmed for the Women’s Wrestlemania Battle Royal. These are the first women to be confirmed for the match. How did these names get in? Find out here. Opinion: It’s too early to say who is going to win these matches but at the same time there aren’t many chances left to fill in the lineups. There are two weeks left of each show and there are less than ten names announced each. With so many names left to be ad..

Fastlane 2018 Results

Fastlane 2018 Date: March 11, 2018 Location: Nationwide Arena, Columbus, Ohio Commentators: Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton, Corey Graves So this is a thing that exists for reasons that I don’t quite grasp. With four weeks to go before Wrestlemania, we have this stop for the final Smackdown pay per view before the big show. The main event is a Six Pack Challenge for the Smackdown World Title as there was no other way to break things up and add another match to a six match card. Let’s get to it. Here’s last week’s “Smackdown” if you need a recap. Kickoff Show: Tye Dillinger/Breezango vs. Mojo Rawley/Chad Gable/Shelton Benjamin Gable throws Breeze down to start and calls him a joke. Just don’t insult his shoes. Fandango comes in and puts on some amateur wrestling headgear, allowing Gable to take him down as well. It’s back to Breeze so Gable drops down to give him a shot. Breeze rides him like a horse and the good guys clear the ring in short order. Gable comes back in with a hard monk..

Submitted by arya on Wed, 2016-06-08 14:12While it might not be "The End" of NXT, tonight's TakeOver show from Full Sail University in Florida will likely be the end of one of the longest and most entertaining rivalries in NXT history as Samoa Joe and Finn Balor will battle in a first for NXT: a steel cage match. Also on the show, Nakamura and Austin Aries look to advance to the next step in their respective NXT runs while NXT tag champions American Alpha are hoping this will be the end of their multi-month run against The Revival. Predicting the Next Three United States Champions

<p>AJ Styles just defeated Kevin Owens to become a two-time WWE United States Champion. With Styles looking to begin an open challenge, he will have many fresh challengers. One of these challengers will eventually dethrone Styles. Someone will dethrone the one who dethroned Styles. So on and so forth.</p><p>Who will be the next person to hold United States gold? Who will become a champion soon? Only time will tell, but here are some bold predictions. Who will become a United States champion before 2017 ends?</p><h4>3. Kevin Owens</h4><p></p><p>Styles is supposed to defend his championship next week on Smackdown. Given WWE’s recent fascination with nonsensical booking decisions, expect Owens to regain the title and become a four-time US Champion.</p><p>The match, if it’s anything like their last few matches, will be a mostly okay match. It will be good for a TV match. Eventually, though, some weird booking decision will work in Kevin Owens’ favor. Maybe the referee won’t see a weapon shot, or won’t see a rope break. Maybe Kevin Owens will pick up the whole announce table and hit AJ with it and the referee won’t know if he should disqualify Owens. At the end of a hard-fought match, though, Owens will walk away with the gold.</p><p>The next week, he’ll cut a promo saying he’s hosting an open challenge. Styles will answer, and Owens will deny him. Either Daniel Bryan or Shane McMahon will book  the match for the following week, because ratings or something. Whatever. Styles will get his rematch.</p><p>What will happen after Styles gets his rematch? It’s easy.</p><h4>2. AJ Styles</h4><p></p><p>At the rematch, AJ Styles will channel the strength of his home state of Georgia. With the weight of 10 million people squarely on his shoulders, Styles will vanquish that dastardly Canadian Kevin Owens and become a three-time United States champion. Ideally, the match would be a no holds barred street fight. The Atlanta Falcons will all be at ringside (despite the show being held in Providence, Rhode Island), and they’ll all attack Kevin Owens. Then the Montreal Canadiens will show up and attack the Falcons. Styles will then perform a Styles Clash to Kevin Owens off the top rope, outside the ring, and onto both teams, who are conveniently brawling near the turnbuckle. Amidst all the strewn bodies at ringside, Styles will roll Owens’ lifeless body into the ring and get the three-count.</p><p>Next week, AJ will announce that he’s holding an Open Challenge. John Cena will answer, because reasons. Kevin Owens will also appear, along with Jinder Mahal. They’ll have a tag team match, and Owens will face Styles at Summerslam for the United States Championship.</p><p>What happens at Summerslam? I think you know.</p><h4>1. Kevin Owens</h4><p></p><p>At Summerslam, Kevin Owens will defeat AJ Styles in a 60-minute 6-pack Iron Man Elimination match that will also feature <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/sami-zayn" title="Sami Zayn">Sami Zayn</a></strong>, <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/tye-dillinger" title="Tye Dillinger">Tye Dillinger</a></strong>, <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/aiden-english" title="Aiden English">Aiden English</a></strong>, and Mike Kannelis. Owens will eliminate Styles by fighting with the weight of 35 million people on his shoulders. Styles will be fighting with the weight of 323 million people on his shoulders, but since his burden is heavier, Owens capitalizes on that and wins.</p><p>Owens will once again proclaim that he will be hosting an open challenge. Styles will demand a match, but Owens will deny him, saying he’s fought him too many times. Styles moves to the back of the line, and Kevin Owens faces new challengers.</p><p>Kevin Owens will then hold on to the United States Championship for the rest of his career. He’ll retire 10 years later, still the United States champion. At his last ever match, it will be for the championship. The match will end in a DQ, and Owens gets to retire with the title, forever the New Face of America.</p>

WWE Battleground Results – 23 July 2017

<p>Welcome to WWE Battleground 2017!</p><p>The Punjabi Prison makes a (hopefully) triumphant return after a decade in a match that sees Randy Orton get one more shot at regaining the WWE Championship from Jinder Mahal. It’s no secret that the Punjabi Prison hasn’t had a good track record in WWE, particularly because it’s a weird match with silly rules, but tonight’s definitely has the chance to be the best ever! We’re hoping a decade will allow Randy and Jinder to learn from the mistakes of those before and build a pretty decent match. If nothing else the Prison is always a spectacle.</p><p>Also on tonight’s show, John Cena makes his triumphant return to the ring to face <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/rusev" title="Rusev">Rusev</a></strong> in a Flag Match. This match doesn’t feel all that important because we’ve seen this feud before and because flag matches are generally silly. Regardless, John Cena wrestling is always worth checking out because he’s become an attraction in WWE and here’s hoping his current run will last a while. Rusev’s return has been a very long time coming and fans were hoping that he would be given a strong run upon return and maybe that will be the case if he can eek a win tonight!</p><p>There’s a small truth in the women’s division that few people want to acknowledge: Naomi hasn’t had a real contender since winning the title at WrestleMania. Other than fighting Lana on a weekly basis, Naomi’s title run has been marred by a lack of competition. This has happened because the SmackDown ladies have been embroiled in a multi-woman feud for months and months. Tonight the company aims to end this long-running battle royal with a five-way match with the winner becoming the number one contender to Naomi. I don’t think there is a clear winner for this match because the two strongest challengers, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, are both babyfaces. The idea of Lana winning is painfully possible.</p><p>Also on tonight’s card, Shinsuke Nakamura takes on Baron Corbin, <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/sami-zayn" title="Sami Zayn">Sami Zayn</a></strong> looks for revenge against Mike Kanellis, The New Day get another shot at The Uso’s Tag Team Championships, and Kevin Owens will look to regain his US Championship from AJ Styles! Tonight’s Battleground is a pretty stacked card with some crazy match stipulations and it all starts with <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/tye-dillinger" title="Tye Dillinger">Tye Dillinger</a></strong> Vs. Aiden English on the Kick-Off Show at 7pm EST. And don’t forget, you can watch Talking Smack after Battleground! WWE SmackDown Live Results – July 11 2017

<p>Welcome to SmackDown Live for the 11th of July 2017!</p><p>The blue-brand got quite the shake-up this past week, when AJ Styles defeated Kevin Owens at a live event in Madison Square Garden to become the United States Champion. Title changes rarely occur at live events and with the two set to square-off at Battleground, it seemed surprising that AJ would win the belt a few weeks prior. Rumour has it that KO might be injured and unable to defend his title at Battleground, which is why the change occured sooner. So it’s unclear if AJ will face a new opponent at the PPV, or if Owens will get a rematch. Owens is scheduled to wrestle tonight, so it’s hard to imagine his injury is severe.</p><p>John Cena returned to SmackDown Live last week with a heart of fire and is now set to duel with <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/rusev" title="Rusev">Rusev</a></strong> at Battleground in a Flag Match. This seems like it will be a one-off feud between the two patriots, as opposed to a rebirth of their former rivalry. The main event for tonight’s show is said to be a tag team match that puts Cena and AJ together against Rusev and Owens.</p><p>Elsewhere on SmackDown, WWE Champion Jinder Mahal will be in action against <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/tye-dillinger" title="Tye Dillinger">Tye Dillinger</a></strong>, who made a strong showing in last week’s Battle Royal. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Randy Orton appear tonight and possibly help Dillinger to a win to keep his momentum. Baron Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura are also scheduled to face off tonight, ahead of a probable showdown between them at Battleground. Tonight’s show will also feature The New Day, <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/naomi" title="Naomi">Naomi</a></strong>, The Uso’s, and more.</p><p>Get talking on the Ringside News and Ringside Talk apps, which you can get for free on your app store! Tye Dillinger Answers The Miz’s Open Invitation

<p><strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/tye-dillinger" title="Tye Dillinger">Tye Dillinger</a></strong> sent out the following tweet after <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/the-miz" title="The Miz">The Miz</a></strong> issued an open invitation to anyone who wanted a shot as his Intercontinental Championship on tonight’s RAW Talk.</p><p>Unfortunately for Dillinger, he’s a SmackDown Superstar and the Intercontinental Championship is on the RAW brand. With SummerSlam being a duel branded pay-per-view there is always a chance that the match could take <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/place/" title="place">place</a></strong> but it’s not very likely.</p>
