Former NXT Superstar Retires from In-Ring Competition

Changing roles can be good sometimes. NXT Trainer and Coach Matt Bloom recently appeared on the ‘Real Monster Radio’ show, where he discussed a number of topics. One of them was the status of a former NXT superstar, now turned coach. Bloom had the following to say about Oney Lorcan: “My position now as a head coach, I oversee my coaches,” Bloom said. “I have an amazing staff. So, I gotta give props to those guys. Terry Taylor, Fit Finlay, Robbie Brookside, Norman Smiley, Steve Corino, Alexander Winkler, ‘Oney Lorcan’ Chris Girard, who just recently retired from being in the ring, Johnny Moss, and we have a few UK coaches that are on the cusp of being full-time coaches as well.” You can see the full interview below: [This post contains video, click to play] Lorcan was released from WWE in November 2021 but returned in October 2022 as a coach at the Performance Center. Editor’s Opinion: I always felt bad for Lorcan and his longtime partner, Danny Burch, because I feel like they n..

Pat McAfee To Wrestle At WrestleMania 38

Now that’s a SHAHT AHT! During his first live interview in 15 years on today’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Vince McMahon invited the host to compete at WrestleMania 38. The invitation was extended due to the former NFL player and Smackdown commentator’s tremendous connection to the WWE Universe. You can see the announcement below: [This post contains video, click to play] McAfee last competed in a WWE ring at NXT Takeover: WarGames 2020. McAfee, along with Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan, and Danny Burch defeated The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish). It is unknown at this time who his opponent will be. Editor’s Opinion: YES! This is awesome! I remember thinking all during the pandemic how absolutely terrific he has been at everything that he has done in WWE. Not only has become the best commentator in the company on Smackdown, but his in-ring work was fantastic and he has earned the right to compete at the Showcase of the Immortals. I have..

More Information On Some Recent WWE Releases

That’s why they’re gone. The WWE releases struck again this week, as several more wrestlers and employees were let go from the company. This batch focused on NXT, as several coaches and scouts were released. Some of those coaches were active wrestlers until the relaunch of NXT, and now we know why a pair of them were let go from their contracts. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Timothy Thatcher and Danny Burch were let go from WWE because the company did not see any kind of a future for them. WWE has changed NXT to a place for developmental wrestlers they feel can make the main roster one day. Wrestlers such as Burch and Thatcher were seen as talented but not people who would make it on the main roster. There is no word on where either of them will wrestle next. These two have some talent. Check out what the two of them did in NXT: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinio..

WWE Releases More NXT Wrestlers/Coaches

We’re not done yet. WWE’s string of releases has shaken up the company, as dozens and dozens of wrestlers have been released to the free agent market. It allows other promotions to restock their shelves in a hurry and that is the kind of thing that can be a complete game changer. Now it seems to be the case again, as more NXT wrestlers are being let go. Earlier today, WWE released several names from NXT, though there were no wrestlers included. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com, WWE has released some wrestlers from NXT, including Hideki Suzuki, Danny Burch and Timothy Thatcher. All three had been absent from television, but had been coaching at the Performance Center. Cathy Corino, better known as Allison Danger, has also been let go from her coaching role. There is no word on if any more releases are coming. Hideki Suzuki of Diamond Mine has been let go from WWE, Fightful has confirmed with the company. — Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com (@SeanRossSapp) January 5, 2022 Tim..

WWE Almost Released These Wrestlers As Well

That could have been a lot worse. There have been all kinds of changes to the WWE in recent years and NXT has taken a large share of hits of its own. This has included several wrestlers being released from the company and there is nothing to suggest that those releases are over. It seems that there were almost several more releases than just the ones we saw last week. Last week, WWE released eighteen wrestlers, with nine of them being from NXT. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, there were ten more NXT wrestlers on the bubble of being released who stuck around. This included wrestlers who are not being used regularly, including Danny Burch and Timothy Thatcher. There is no word on if more releases are coming, or if the wrestlers who stayed are safe at the moment. There were some very talented wrestlers let go from NXT. Check out some of the people who were released: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video,..

VIDEO: Stable Splits Up During This Week’s NXT

It was nice while it lasted. Factions and groups have been a part of wrestling for years and that has certainly been the case in WWE as well. The company has come up with all kinds of alliances over its history with some of them being more memorable than others. Almost all of them have to come to an end at some point though and that was the case again this week. The main event of this week’s edition of NXT saw MSK successfully defend their Tag Team Titles against Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. Following the loss, Lorcan and Burch’s friends Ridge Holland and Pete Dunne came to the ring and attacked the two of them to end the show. This came after Dunne had told Lorcan and Burch to win the titles and take out MSK for good. The four have teamed together on and off for about a year, though Burch missed several months due to an injury. That was a nasty moment. Check out the match and brawl, thoughts from Holland and Dunne and what the team looked like before: [This post contains video, cli..

The Shape Of The NXT Roster Was Shaken Up This Week

There are a few of them. One of the more interesting wrestling stories of the last few weeks has been the changes in and around NXT. Vince McMahon has not seemed happy with what has been going on in his developmental program and some adjustments have been made. There are even more of them to come, and some of the bigger ones might have taken place this week. Multiple members of the NXT roster had some sort of change during this week’s show. First of all, Danny Burch returned to television after injuring his shoulder in March. Burch returned to help Oney Lorcan attack Timothy Thatcher during Thatcher’s match against Ridge Holland, Burch and Lorcan’s former associate. It is not clear when Burch will return to the ring. Next, Carmelo Hayes defeated Odyssey Jones to win the second NXT Breakout Tournament. The win grants Hayes a future title shot against any champion, though he did not make his decision on which champion to challenge. Later in the show, Electra Lopez returned to NXT and a..

Ouch: NXT Star Out Of Action Indefinitely

It could be awhile. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the NXT roster and most of them are incredibly talented. It isn’t easy to make it onto NXT television and it means a lot to get a spot on the show. Therefore, it is kind of sad to see someone losing their spot, but in this case someone is leaving because they seem primed to come back in a big way, at least in theory. This week’s edition of NXT featured a match between Ridge Holland and Timothy Thatcher. Holland won the match, with a brawl breaking out after, involving Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch on Holland’s side and Tommaso Ciampa helping Thatcher. The numbers game got the better of Thatcher and Ciampa, with Holland hitting Thatcher in the arm with his baton. Holland also hit Thatcher in the throat, which left Thatcher down. NXT has since sent out a tweet saying that Thatcher will be out indefinitely due to the attack. There is no word on when Thatcher will return to NXT TV. MEDICAL UPDATE: Timothy Thatcher is out i..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – December 23, 2020

NXT Date: December 23, 2020 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph It’s the Christmas show as we have A Very Gargano Christmas. That’s special enough, but this show is also not up against Dynamite due to an NBA game so it should be interesting to see what they have on their own. We do have a title match tonight as the Tag Team Titles are on the line in a street fight. Let’s get to it. Tag Team Titles: Killian Dain/Drake Maverick vs. Oney Lorcan/Danny Burch Lorcan and Burch are defending in a street fight but Dain and Maverick jump them from behind. The champs are in some early trouble but Maverick gets taken down so Dain can be double teamed. We settle down to Dain in trouble in the corner but managing to backdrop Burch onto a pair of chairs. Maverick comes in without a tag to trip Lorcan down and Dain slams him onto Lorcan for a bonus. Dain hits a running boot in the corner to Lorcan and takes him to the floor, ..

NXT Wrestler Missing Time Due To Knee Injury

Another reason. One of the bigger stories of the week has been the Coronavirus outbreak in NXT which has seemingly left a lot of wrestlers out of action. That is the kind of thing you can only plan for to a certain extent and it has been causing problems for NXT. What matters most is keeping the wrestlers healthy, but another wrestler is missing some time for another reason. This week’s NXT featured a rather interesting match with Danny Burch/Roderick Strong teaming up to face Fabian Aichner/Raul Mendoza. The four of them are all parts of different tag teams and the winners’ teams would later face off for the #1 contendership to the Tag Team Titles. It would seem that the regular partners’ absences may have been due to the Coronavirus but that is not the case at least for one name. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bobby Fish, Strong’s regular partner in the Undisputed Era, missed the show because of a knee injury suffered when training Brazilian ju-jitsu and kickboxing..

NXT Results – August 12, 2020

NXT Date: August 12, 2020 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Beth Phoenix, Mauro Ranallo We’re coming up on Takeover and that means most of the card is either set or more or less set. We still need to figure out what the heck is going on with the ladder match as last week saw a change to the lineup. Other than that, we have the build towards Karrion Kross vs. Keith Lee in the big hoss fight. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Karrion Kross vs. Danny Burch We get the full entrance for Kross. Burch says ring the bell and goes right at Kross with a dropkick. A clothesline puts Kross on the floor but Kross pulls him outside and hits a two handed chokeslam. Back in and Kross talks trash while slowly hammering away, as should be the case with him. There’s the exploder but Burch manages an enziguri out of the corner. Burch hits the missile dropkick out of the corner into a German suplex. A second German suplex sets up the Crossface but Kross rol..

205 Live Results – May 22, 2020

205 Live Date: May 22, 2020 Location: WWE Performance Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Byron Saxton, Corey Graves We’re back with another edition of the show that continues to exist. The Cruiserweight Title tournament is starting to come to a close and that means absolutely nothing around here, as tends to be the case. Hopefully we can get some good action around here, because it’s not like anything matters when it comes to stories. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Oney Lorcan/Danny Burch vs. Ever Rise Burch and Martel lock up to start but a cheap shot from the apron lets Parker come in to hammer him down. A leg trip lets Burch take Parker over to the corner so Lorcan can get the tag. The rapid fire uppercuts set up the half crab that gave them the win on Wednesday but Martel sends Burch into them for the save this time. Lorcan gets taken into the corner for the alternating beatdown, setting up the snapmare into the chinlock. That’s broken up and a running Blockbuster allow..

205 Live Results – March 20, 2020

205 Live Date: March 20, 2020 Location: WWE Performance Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Jon Quasto, Aiden English We’re back here and thankfully this show has gotten into the formula that it should have had years ago: a short form show which gets in and out without wasting a bunch of time. Last week saw Kushida and Isaiah Scott surviving the elimination tag and that could set up some stuff for the future. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Joaquin Wilde vs. Danny Burch Burch cranks on the arm to start and takes him down with a wristlock. That’s switched into a Fujiwara armbar to work on a different part of the arm because Burch is that thorough. Wilde reverses into an armbar of his own but they wind up heading outside instead. Burch knocks him into the barricade, only to have Wilde dive off of said barricade to drop Burch again. Back in and Wilde goes back to the arm for a good bit until Burch jawbreaks his way to freedom. Some shots in the corner set up a middle rope missil..

First Match Set For Takeover: Chicago II

That’s a heck of a start. With less than a month to go before Takeover: Chicago II, there isn’t actually anything on the card. You can guess what some of the matches will be just by paying attention to television, but you need something a little concrete on the card instead of matches that might take place. WWE seems to have picked up o the lack of matches and added one the day after TV instead of just announcing it on the air, but at least it’s something. As announced today on WWE.com, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch will be challenging the Undisputed Era’s Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly. The match was set up last week with Lorcan and Burch scoring a pin in a six man tag also involving Pete Dunne, defeating the Undisputed Era, also including Adam Cole. Lorcan and Burch have been helping Dunne in his quest for revenge after Dunne turned on him at Takeover: New Orleans, costing Dunne the Tag Team Titles in the process. Who doesn’t want to see the Brits vs. Undisputed Era? Check out how ..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – May 23, 2018

NXT Date: May 23, 2018 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson, Mauro Ranallo The build to Chicago is slowly taking form with Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch looking likely to challenge for the Tag Team Titles. Other than that, we really don’t have anything set up yet. That being said, NXT has an amazing track record of being able to catch up in a hurry so it’s not like they’re in any real trouble. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jonathan Coachman is in the front row. Heavy Machinery vs. TM61 Dozovic goes with the power to start and runs Thorn over with a shoulder, followed by a double shoulder to give Knight two. Everything breaks down for a few seconds with Miller being run over as well while Thorn is put in the Tree of Woe. That allows Miller to be driven into his partner’s ribs as this is one sided so far. A shot to the back cuts Knight off though and the fans stay completely behind Heavy Machinery. ..

Report: Danny Burch Inks A New Deal With WWE

The hard-striking Brit will be exclusive to WWE. Martin Stone, better known as Danny Burch from the NXT brand has reportedly inked a new deal with WWE. During the summer of 2015 Burch did a number of appearances for NXT despite not being signed with the company. While Burch has been competing in NXT he was working matches on the independent wrestling scene for numerous promotions around the United Kingdom. Danny Burch is regularly featured on NXT TV where he has aligned himself with Oney Lorcan. Earlier today, Burch competed in a singles match against Josh Briggs for 'Beyond Wrestling' and the match would ultimately end up being his last for the promotion as PWInsider has reported that WWE offered Danny Burch a new contract last month and he accepted and has now inked a new deal with the sports-entertainment company. What a match between @strongstylebrit and @TheJoshBriggs in Martin’s last match ever for @beyondwrestling #WelcomeHome pic.twitter.com/tLLpsaYNGj — MikeyLaFr..

<p>WWE will tape the May 31st to June 21st episodes of NXT at Full Sail University tonight. Here are the results from the show:</p><p>* Dark match: Jeet Rama defeats Chris Silvio.</p><p><strong>May 31st</strong></p><p>* <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/tyler-bate" title="Tyler Bate">Tyler Bate</a></strong> defeats Steve Cutler.</p><p>* Ciampa comes out on crutches. The crowd is chanting, “Why Ciampa, why?” Ciampa invites Gargano out to the ring because he feels he owes him an explanation. Thursday before Takeover Ciampa sustained an injury, it didn’t matter, he was still going to fight. But the people were thinking up dream partners for Gargano, it took 24 hours for Ciampa to become an afterthought to the fans. When Ciampa realized they lost he knew he was injured & going away for a long time, when he looked across at John it became clear. That if Ciampa went away Gargano would replace him, Ciampa won’t become an afterthought, and in that moment he made his choice. It is the fans fault and it is Gargano’s fault that DIY is done, if Ciampa has to go away then Gargano had to go away too. Takeover: Chicago was supposed to be DIY’s moment, but it ended up being Ciampa’s moment. Ciampa is irreplaceable, Gargano is irreplaceable, the fans are replaceable. When Ciampa returns he will be the most dangerous man in professional wrestling and everyone is on notice.</p><p>* Pete Dunne defeats <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/danny-burch" title="Danny Burch">Danny Burch</a></strong>.
