Gunther Discusses Sale of WWE, Stephanie McMahon, More

WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther was recently interviewed by the Dallas Morning News where he discussed a number of topics. Among them were the rumors of WWE’s upcoming sale, his relationship with Stephanie McMahon, thoughts on the Royal Rumble, and more. Below are some highlights from the interview: On the refuted reports on social media that WWE was being sold to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, and his reaction to the news… Gunther: “I mean, rumors are rumors. And at the end of the day, I’m not the CEO. I’m a wrestler. So, I focus on what I do in the ring and leave the business to the people that do business.” Also on the business side, Stephanie McMahon just left the company, what was your relationship with her? Gunther: “To be fair, I only had very brief interactions with her. She’s always been very nice and very lovely. And yeah, I’m happy for her that she’s going to be able now to take time off and enjoy time with her family. And yeah, I think you should be hap..

Farewell? Sting Heavily Hints At Retiring Later This Year

He would know best. Retirement is a tricky situation in wrestling as it can be difficult for a wrestler to finally hang up their boots. REPORT: Stone Cold Steve Austin Not Training for a Match at WrestleMania 39

One of the bigger stories of the month has been WWE offering Stone Cold the chance to do another match down the line. It was not clear if they meant Austin doing something at a Crown Jewel event, or did they mean something for WrestleMania 39. The rumor mill got even hotter when videos of Stone Cold training came out on Instagram. People thought that after his great match in Dallas with Kevin Owens, he’d stepped up his training regiment to be ready for WrestleMania in Hollywood. The Texas Rattlesnake released his latest video on Instagram explaining his workout routine and addressing the “speculation” that has been built over his training. Click here to hear the latest news right from the mouth of Stone Cold himself Now, we have to remember that Stone Cold wrestled in Dallas and the wrestling world wasn’t this intense about his workout schedule a year ago. Also, Austin has been doing this for more than 30 years. He knows how to sell a ticket and it’s not even 2023 yet. There’s a cha..

REVIEW: Survivor Series 2003: The Stakes Are High

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Survivor Series 2003 Date: November 16, 2003 Location: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas Attendance: 13,487 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, Tazz This is another big one and it’s also a one sided show. The Smackdown offerings are about as uninteresting as they could be while the Raw side looks at at least marginally better. This isn’t a great show on paper and I have a bad feeling that it’s going to be even worse as it actually takes place. Let’s get to it. The opening video ..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Could Bring Back Two Former Champions To Work With Bray Wyatt

He has them in mind. WWE’s roster has been changing a lot in recent months and there is nothing to indicate that those changes are slowing down. Several former stars have returned to the company and it can be fascinating to see who comes back next. One of the biggest names to return is now looking for some help and it turns out he has some people in mind. According to WrestleVotes during an interview with Give Me Sport, Bray Wyatt has some wrestlers he likes working with and given his current popularity, WWE would consider bringing them back in if they were interested. The two names mentioned are Wyatt’s brother Bo Dallas and former Wyatt Family member Erick Rowan. There is currently nothing to suggest that they are back with the company or that they will be returning anytime soon. Rowan left WWE in 2020 and Dallas in 2021. You might not remember them. Check out Dallas and Rowan’s time in WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Op..

Monday Night Raw Results – October 31, 2022

Monday Night Raw Date: October 31, 2022 Location: America Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Corey Graves We’re on the way to Crown Jewel but first we need a big stop for Halloween. This is going to include the traditional Trick Or Street Fight, this time between Matt Riddle and Otis, but also an appearance from Roman Reigns. Hopefully it involves the Bloodline and not Logan Paul, but we might not be that lucky. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Bianca Belair vs. Nikki Cross Non-title. Belair drives her into the corner to start so Cross sticks her head out and shouts at Belair to hit her. That’s fine with Belair, who hammers away but gets taken outside for a tie up in the ring skirt as we take a break. Back with Belair managing a suplex but favoring her leg. Said leg is fine enough to hit the handspring moonsault but Cross grabs a choke. They crash out to the floor to break it up but here are Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai to distract the referee, allowing Bayley ..

Identity Of SmackDown’s Uncle Howdy Possibly Revealed With Old Photo

That’s a big hint. There are several ways to debut a new star and some of them can be quite unique. It can be interesting to see a tease of a new star coming to a promotion, but there are also times where someone appears without letting us know who it is. That took place earlier this week, but now we might have a hint about who we are seeing, even if they haven’t given us anything concrete. The end of this week’s edition of SmackDown saw the debut of Uncle Howdy, who had appeared before but never identified himself. The shot of Uncle Howdy’s face did not make his identity clear, but we might have a hint. Uncle Howdy could be seen wearing a cross earring, which had previously been worn by former NXT Champion Bo Dallas. This is not confirmed, though Dallas has been rumored to be returning to WWE to be involved with Wyatt’s story. BO-LIEVE! pic.twitter.com/uOFqYlN5Hi — Wrestling News (@WrestlingNewsCo) October 29, 2022 Opinion: Dallas would make sense for this spot, though I’m not sur..

Halloween Havoc 1998 Date: October 25, 1998 Location: MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada Attendance: 10,663 Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay, Bobby Heenan We’re FINALLY here after six weeks of buildup. It’s a double main event with Warrior and Hogan in the battle for Hollywood’s sanity and ego as well as Diamond Dallas Page challenging Goldberg for the World Title. However the show is remembered far more for something that had nothing to do with the wrestling. Let’s get to it. The open..

REVIEW: Joey Janela’s Spring Break 6 Night Two: This Is Great?

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Joey Janela’s Spring Break 6 Night 2 Date: April 1, 2022 Location: Fair Park, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Dave Prazak, Kevin Gill It’s the second half of the show and in this case, it needs to get a pretty big upgrade over the first half. Night one was a decent enough show, but it wasn’t memorable, which is the point of a show like this. Now that being being said, this show is built around the Clusterf*** Battle Royal, which could be quite the mess. Let’s get to it. We open with Joey Janela talking about beating ..

REVIEW: Joey Janela’s Spring Break 6 Night One: Needs Less Good

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Joey Janela’s Spring Break 6 Night One Date: March 31, 2022 Location: Fair Park, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Kevin Gill, Lenny Leonard This is probably the crown jewel of the indy shows over Wrestlemania Weekend, just because of how insane it can get. Janela’s shows have a tendency to be completely nuts with some incredibly fun stuff and surprises. I’m actually looking forward to this one just for the atmosphere so let’s get to it. Tag Team Titles: Second Gear Crew vs. Briscoes vs. Nick Gage Gage is defending on..

Details On Wyatt 6 Stable, Likely Members And Characters

That’s a plan. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the WWE roster and it can be difficult to find something for all of them to do. One of the most effective ways to present someone can be to put them together into a big stable so wrestlers can get their own television time together. Now it seems that WWE is interested in putting together a bunch of people under quite the monster leader. Last weekend at Extreme Rules, Bray Wyatt returned to the company after a year plus absence. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Wyatt is expected to lead a stable called the Wyatt 6, a term he trademarked earlier in the year. The members will be based on characters from the Firefly Fun House, with the following wrestlers portraying them: Joe Gacy as Huskus Grayson Waller as Mercy the Buzzard Alexa Bliss as Sister Abigail Erick Rowan as Ramblin Rabbit Bo Dallas as The Fiend Liv Morgan and the Dyad are also considered as possible members in the place of some of the other names. There is no ..

Former Champion Expected To Return To WWE

The door swings both ways. There have been a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster over the years and some of them have made quite the impression. At the same time, there have been several who have never had the chance to break out in the right way. It can be interesting to see them come back and that might be the case with another former champion. According to F4WOnline.com, former NXT Champion and Raw Tag Team Champion Bo Dallas may be on his way back to WWE. There is no word on what Dallas would be doing if or when he returns to the company. Dallas was with the company for thirteen years before being released in April 2021 as part of a round of budget cuts. Dallas has not wrestled since November 13, 2019, his last match with WWE. Opinion: I could go for this, as Dallas is only 32 years old, has the experience and success to make a go of something and has never had much of a chance on the main roster. Why not let him see what he can do in a WWE with a different landscape? It isn’t lik..

REVIEW: New Japan Lonestar Shootout: Half Of A Heck Of A Night

Lonestar Shootout Date: April 1, 2022 Location: Fairmont Hotel, Dallas, Texas Attendance: 582 Commentators: Kevin Kelly, Matthew Rehwoldt So this is an interesting one as it is part of the NJPW Strong promotion, but there were two shows taped here. First up was the Lonestar Shootout special, followed by a regular TV show. That wasn’t mentioned during the night so this will be split in two rather than the one night that I watched it live. Let’s get to it. I don’t follow New Japan Strong so I apologize in advance f..

REVIEW: WrestleCon USA vs. The World 2022: The Better Version

Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? WrestleCon: USA vs. The World Date: April 2, 2022 Location: Fairmont Hotel, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Veda Scott This is about as obvious of an idea as you can get: take a bunch of wrestlers from WrestleCon weekend and put them in a bunch of matches, one country vs. the rest. This show has a tendency to be one of the weaker of the WrestleCon offerings but there are some talented people on the card. Let’s get to it. Warrior Wrestling Lucha Libre Title: Sam Adonis (USA) vs. La Hiedra (World) vs. Mr..

Impact Wrestling Results – September 22, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: September 22, 2022 Location: The Factory, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt It’s the go home show for Victory Road, which means we are about a month away from Bound For Glory. Victory Road is being treated as a pretty big deal so it would make sense to have a good go home show. This week does feature a pretty big showdown with Aussie Open vs. the Motor City Machine Guns. Let’s get to it. Opening recap. Digital Media Title: Bhupinder Gujjar vs. Brian Myers Myers is defending in a ladder match. Gujjar slugs away to start and hits a jumping knee to the face. A Samoan drop looks to set up the Gargoyle spear but Myers knees him out of the way. The first ladder is brought in but Gujjar dropkicks it into his face. Myers knocks him outside though and goes up for the title, only to be pulled down into a cutter. Now the Gargoyle spear can send Myers into the ladder but the climb takes too long, as usual. The ladder is knocked into Gujjar and it..

Bangerz Only Date: April 2, 2022 Location: Fair Park, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Denise Salcedo, Sam Leterna, Veda Scott This is from Mission Pro Wrestling, an all women’s promotion owned by AEW Thunder Rosa, from over Wrestlemania weekend. That means we should be in for a fun show which likely includes a fair few guest stars. I have no idea what to expect from this show and that is a nice feeling, as it could be a little bit of anything. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Shazza McKenzie vs. Janai Kai Kai has..

Impact Wrestling Results – September 15, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: September 15, 2022 Location: The Factory, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We’re rapidly approaching Victory Road and then Bound For Glory, meaning some of the shows’ major matches have already been announced. With some of the bigger shows on the way, it would make sense to give them that much extra attention. There’s a good chance of getting some more added to the cards this week so let’s get to it. Opening recap. X-Division Title: Mascara Dorada vs. Mike Bailey Bailey is defending. They trade armdrags to start before both block one at the same time. An exchange of countered hurricanranas gives them a standoff and they chop it out until Bailey is knocked to the floor. The slingshot dive misses and Dorada wins a chop off outside. Back in and a suicide dive drops Bailey, setting up a missed top rope double stomp back inside. Bailey pulls him into a kneebar but Dorada is in the ropes rather quickly. The running twisting shooting star g..

That’s Why It’s There: WWE Announces Eye Popping Record WrestleMania Revenue

That’s why they do it. There are all kinds of wrestling shows through the WWE’s calendar every year and some of them are more important than others. At the very top of the list is WrestleMania, which has long since been established as the biggest wrestling show of the year. It is such a big deal that cities will bid on the right to host it, and now we can see why that is the case. WWE has announced that this year’s WrestleMania 38 brought in $206 million in revenue to the Dallas, Texas area. This is a new record for WrestleMania revenue and the first time the show has broken two hundred million dollars. The revenue brought in was the equivalent of 1,777 full time jobs in the area, as 67% of the fans were from outside the Dallas/Arlington region. Opinion: And that right there is why it’s a big deal for a city to get to host WrestleMania: it brings in a fortune to a local economy like nothing else could possibly do. That is something that is going to work every single time and it seems..
