AEW Revolution 2023 Results

Revolution 2023 Date: March 5, 2023 Location: Chase Center, San Francisco, California Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Jim Ross We’re back with another AEW pay per view and that should mean something really good. The television shows haven’t been the strongest in recent weeks but that has never stopped the pay per views from being special. The main event will feature MJF defending the World Title against Bryan Danielson in an Iron Man match, which should be…uh, long. Let’s get to it. Zero Hour: Lucha Bros/Mark Briscoe vs. Varsity Athletes/Ari Daivari Mark Sterling are here with the Varsity Athletes (Tony Nese/Josh Woods) and Daivari. Nese poses at Penta to start but Penta is right back with CERO MIEDO. All six come in to strike it out with Penta and Nese being left alone in the ring. Made In Penta gives Penta a quick two before Daivari has to save Sterling. The villains take over on Penta by whipping him into the corner and Woods adds a suplex for two. The Athletes double suplex Penta ..

AEW Revolution 2023 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

It’s Revolution and things are not exactly feeling hot coming into the show. The main event is a sixty minute Iron Man match with Bryan Danielson challenging MJF for the World Title, which means there won’t be as much time for the usual deep card this time. Other than that, we have Hangman Page vs. Jon Moxley in a Texas Death Match and Christian Cage vs. Jungle Boy in what seems to be a Buried Alive match. Let’s get to it. Zero Hour: Mark Briscoe/Lucha Bros vs. Ari Daivari/Varsity Athletes The Mark Briscoe vs. Mark Sterling and company feud continues for reasons I don’t think I follow. Briscoe also has some new friends in the Lucha Bros and that means we could be in for a new trio. The division could certainly use them, but for now they have to get rid of something like this, as AEW is giving them a nice spot to get their feet wet as a three man team. Of course I’ll take Briscoe and the Bros here, as there is no reason to suggest that Daivari and company will ever be winning anything..

Ouch: AEW Personality Says He Might Have Suffered A Broken Jaw This Week

That’s one way to go. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling, some of which can be a lot more serious than others. As a physical sport, you never know when you are going to see someone get hurt in the course of a match. At the same time, there are also injury angles that are used to progress a story. The latter seems to be true in this case, and someone has something to say about it. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: On The Mend: Update On Injured AEW Star’s Recovery Status This week’s edition of Dark: Elevation saw Tony Nese and Ari Daivari face the Lucha Bros. During the match, the Lucha Bros superkicked Nese and Daivari’s manager Mark Sterling. Following the match, Sterling said that “they think my jaw might be broken”. Sterling also bragged about the ratings for the show being so high. There is nothing to indicate that this is anything more than a storyline. In regards to tonight’s @AEW main event… I’m ok. First, It was a heinous attack and they think my jaw might be broken. Secon..

Triple Threat: Three Superstars Make Surprise Returns On AEW Dynamite

They’re back. There are all kinds of reasons for a wrestler to be gone from a show and it can make for quite a moment when they make their return. You might see a wrestler’s return advertised or it might come as a surprise, but what matters is how they come back for a big event. That was the situation this week, with three wrestlers making their returns on the same show. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s In: Reigning Champion Officially Signs With AEW Three returns took place on this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. First, the Lucha Bros returned to help Mark Briscoe deal with Tony Nese and Ari Daivari. The team had been off television due to visa issues. Later, Christian Cage returned and reignited his feud with Jungle Boy, laying him out with the Killswitch. Cage had been out of action since September with an arm injury. It was a special night. More Names Officially Signed To AEW

They have spots. AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works as there is now a second major promotion in the United States for wrestlers to go. That is something that has been lacking for a long time now and it has opened up several more spots. It means something when someone gets one of those places and now it seems two more of them have been taken. This week on AEW Rampage, it was announced that Willow Nightingale had officially signed a full time contract with the company. This included the customary All Elite graphic. According to Fightful Select, there are other names who have been working on full time deals with AEW without being officially announced, including Ari Daivari, who was signed at some point over the summer. Opinion: It was great to see Nightingale announced as officially being part of the roster. She has been one of the most consistently entertaining stars in AEW and it is nice to see her getting rewarded for the work and effort that she has put in. Daivari is..

Coming In: Two Former NXT Stars Appear At AEW Dark Tapings (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

It’s their new home. While WWE gets the most attention in the wrestling world, there are other promotions throughout the world, some of which have their own national exposure. It makes sense for those promotions to bring in former WWE stars when they have the chance and that seems to be what has happened again. This time though, a promotion brought in two at once. AEW taped episodes of Dark this weekend at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. During the tapings, two former NXT stars made their debuts for the company. First up, Cole Karter, formerly known as Troy “Two Stacks” Donovan defeated Mike Orlando. This is Karter’s return to the company, as he wrestled eight matches before being signed to NXT. In addition, Parker Boudreaux also debuted, appearing with Ariya Daivari and Slim J, though he does not seem to have wrestled a match. It is not clear when these shows will air. Feel The Pinch: WWE Budget Cuts Causing Backstage Issues

That’s not going to go well. WWE needs a lot of people behind the scenes to make a show work well. While the wrestlers are the focal points of the show, there are several people who work together to make the wrestlers look better. In WWE, these people are called producers, and now it seems that they are going to be doing a good bit more work for the foreseeable future. According to PWInsider.com, budget cuts in WWE have caused the company to not use as many producers. This includes Curtis Axel and Ariya Daivari not being brought in full time after a tryout that began just after WrestleMania 38. The producers had been hoping for more help to be brought in due to the amount of work needed in the job but budget cuts have prevented this from happening. As a result, the WWE producers are described as being “extremely overworked”. Opinion: This is one of those things that keeps happening in WWE and it shouldn’t be a surprise when the situation is not going well backstage. It also can’t be ..

WWE Backstage Producer Seems To Receive A Promotion

It’s an upgrade. There are a lot of people who make a wrestling show work and several of them are not even in the ring. While the wrestlers themselves are the people who put on the matches, there are others who work with them to get everything ready. In WWE, these people are called producers and now another former wrestler has received a promotion backstage. According to Fightful Select, Ariya Daivari worked on his own as a producer at this week’s Main Event taping. Daivari produced the Apollo Crews vs. Akira Tozawa match on his own, marking the first time he has done so. This comes after Daivari and Curtis Axel received tryout as producers in WWE, with Axel working on this week’s SmackDown. There is no word on if the two are now full time producers. Opinion: It is nice to see WWE bringing in some fresh blood to the producers’ ranks, as you are only going to get so far with the same people doing the same matches over and over. Daivari and Axel can offer a fresh perspective on the mat..

REVIEW: Backlash 2005: Keep On Fighting

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Backlash 2005 Date: May 1, 2005 Location: Verizon Wireless Arena, Manchester, New Hampshire Attendance: 14,000 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler It’s the follow up to Wrestlemania and that means we’re in for a rematch for the Raw World Title with HHH challenging Batista for the title. Other than that, we have the ultimate teaming of Shawn Michaels/Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan/Daivari because we need a way to get to what is likely going to be Shawn vs. Hogan at a big show. Let’s get to it. The opening video i..

Welcome Back? Two Former WWE Stars Receive Tryout To Return In A Different Role

They’re familiar with the product. There are a lot of people who make a WWE show work and a lot of them are not going to be seen in person. The wrestlers are the most important players, but those people need some help to put together what you see in the ring. With the right help, they can make almost anything work, and now WWE is looking at bringing in some new help. According to Fightful Select, former WWE stars Curtis Axel and Ariya Daivari were given tryouts as producers this week at SmackDown. Axel worked with TJ Wilson on the Liv Morgan vs. Sasha Banks match while Daivari worked with Chris Park on Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn. Both Axel and Daivari were released from the company within the last two years. This comes after Pat Buck left his role as a producer after WrestleMania 38, leaving a spot available. Opinion: I’m not sure if Axel and Daivari will work well as producers, but it is a good sign to see WWE bringing in some fresh names to try their hand at the job. That is somet..

Another Former WWE Star Makes AEW Debut

Welcome to the club? There are a lot of wrestlers in the world today and there are a lot of them who have some kind of a connection to WWE. That is the grandest stage in the wrestling world and getting on one of their shows means quite a bit. It can open a lot of doors, and another former WWE star used that door to wrestle on another pretty big wrestling show this week. This week’s AEW Rampage featured the debut of former WWE star Ariya Daivari, who was wrestling in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Daivari lost to Dante Martin, who is also from Minneapolis. There is no word on if Daivari will be returning to AEW or if he has signed any deal with the company. Daivari was released from WWE on June 25, 2021 and has wrestled six matches since. Daivari is a talented star. Check out what he can bring to the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I’m not sure if Daivari is goi..

Several Former WWE Stars Are Now Free Agents, Can Sign Anywhere

Welcome to the fold. There are so many talented wrestlers on the free agent market today that it is hard to fathom. You have a lot of talented wrestlers in WWE and AEW but there are far more names outside of the two major promotions. That makes for some interesting situations as you never know when someone might pop up elsewhere. Now we have some more names available on the free agent market. Several names were released from WWE back in June, meaning that they would be under ninety day no compete clauses. Those clauses have since expired, meaning that main roster wrestlers released from the company are now free agents who are allowed to sign anywhere they like. These names include Ariya Daivari, Tony Nese, Fandango, Tyler Breeze, the Bollywood Boyz, Marina Shafir and Killian Dain. There is no word on where any of them will sign, though Dain still has a few legal issues to sort out before he can sign. Several of them have commented on their new status: Today, I'm officially a fre..

Recent WWE Releases Changed NXT Plan At The Last Minute

Card subject to change. NXT has been shaken up in a big way as of late and some of those changes have come out of nowhere. There have been multiple instances of wrestlers being released in a hurry and that has changes things all over the place. Those changes seem likely to continue in the near future and it turns out that one of them messed with an established plan. According to Fightful Select, Ariya Daivari was scheduled to face Cameron Grimes on the June 29 NXT. Ari Sterling took Daivari’s place and lost the match, as Daivari had been released just before the match. Despite Sterling wrestling as a heel on 205 Live, he was turned into a babyface for the match as Grimes needed to face a heel to further his babyface push. Sterling was then released by WWE in early August, along with several others. What could have been. Check out Sterling’s time in WWE, including the Grimes match: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post cont..

More Backstage Changes In WWE With New Full Time Hires

The turnover continues. WWE has been undergoing a lot of changes in recent months and there is nothing to suggest that they are over. In addition to the massive roster changes, WWE has been making some adjustments backstage, which can shake things up in a big way. That seems to be the case again, but this time around, things might be a little bit more positive. According to PWInsider.com, both Molly Holly and Shawn Daivari are now working full time for WWE as producers. Holly has been working with WWE on a trial basis since May of this year. Daivari was let go as a producer in 2020 but was brought back earlier this year as WWE announced their return to live events. Daivari is also a regular wrestler outside of WWE, wrestling for both the NWA and Impact Wrestling within the last month. It is not clear if he will be allowed to continue his in-ring career. These are some interesting additions. Check out what they could do in the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This p..

205 Live Results – June 25, 2021

205 Live Date: June 25, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Vic Joseph Well this show suddenly means nothing as most of the roster has been released, meaning I have no idea what to expect from this series going forward. That may or may not be a good thing, but it is fairly clear that 205 Live is going to get a heck of a shakeup following this taped edition. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Ikemen Jiro vs. Ariya Daivari Jiro, now in a corn on the cob jacket, gets taken down by the wrist to start but comes right back with a headlock. Back up and a running knee to the ribs puts Jiro down but he is fine enough to bust out a handstand in the corner. A Delfin clutch gets two on Daivari, who is right back with a reverse DDT onto the apron. Some right hands to the head set up a chinlock on Jiro and Daivari kicks him hard in the ribs. Jiro fights up with a suplex and some running forearms, setting up a double springboard moonsault. The..

Back To Normal: Released Name Returns To WWE

Welcome back. There are a lot of people needed to make a WWE event work. While the wrestlers are the most important part of a show, there are several other roles that need to be filled. Some of these are a lot more prominent than others, but you need the right people involved to make everything work. Now WWE is bringing back someone who could help in a nice way. According to Wrestlinginc.com, Shawn Daivari is back with WWE as a producer. This comes less a week after Daivari was working as a producer at the NWA’s When Our Shadows Fall pay per view. The move comes as WWE is preparing to return to full time touring starting in July. Daivari had worked as a producer for WWE starting in January 2019 but was let go last year due to budget cuts brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic. https://www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2021/06/veteran-wrestler-returns-to-work-for-wwe/ Daivari has been around. 205 Live Results – May 21, 2021

205 Live Date: May 21, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Tom Phillips, Nigel McGuinness Believe it or not, 205 Liv is kind of on a roll here and it could be interesting to see where they take it. Above all else, they have introduced some new names into the fold and that could make all the difference in the world. Even Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari have seemed a bit more energized as of late so hopefully they can keep it up. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Asher Hale vs. Ari Sterling Sterling grabs the arm to start and blocks a snapmare attempt with a shove off for a unique counter. Hale starts working on the arm and spins him down into an armbar. Back up and Sterling hits a running shoulder but Hale kicks the leg out to put him down again. A slingshot anklescissors sends Hale into the corner though and Sterling hits a running spinwheel kick. Back up and Hale sends him outside for the moonsault off the apron and Sterling is in trouble again..

205 Live Results – May 14, 2021

205 Live Date: May 14, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Tom Phillips, Nigel McGuinness Last week was quite the change of pace as we had some fresh blood around here and they actually got some big wins. It was nice to see that for a change, though odds are it does not last. There is a good chance those things are knocked right back down to normal this week, though you never can tell. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Ariya Daivari vs. Asher Hale Hale is better known as Anthony Henry. Daivari gets shoved out of the corner to start and Hale slaps on a headlock. Hale does it a second time to prove whatever point he’s going for but Daivari puts him on the middle rope instead. That means a diving headlock takeover so Daivari goes with a knee to the ribs this time instead. Back up and Hale hammers away, setting up a one footed dropkick for two. Daivari bails so Hale is right there with a running knee off the apron. They head back inside with Dai..
