He’s available. There are some incredibly talented wrestlers throughout the world who do not get to appear on the big stage that often. While they might appear on some very big shows, they do not make regular appearances in either WWE or AEW. Those are the stages where wrestlers will have the biggest audiences, and now a top international star is able to go anywhere he chooses. More content is coming. This week on Dynamite, Tony Khan was scheduled to make a big announcement. That announcement was actually made by Adam Cole, in which he shared that a new AEW show was coming to TBS. Called “AEW: All Access”, the show will will follow some of the company’s biggest stars week-to-week as they seek to remain at the top of the company while also exploring rivalries between them. He’s back. Logan Paul made his return to WWE at the 2023 Elimination Chamber premium live event. He would make his presence known in the closing moments of the Elimination Chamber match for the United States Championship. From WWE.com: Rollins seemed poised to win the match, but Logan Paul appeared and hit a flipping lariat and a stomp on Rollins as revenge for eliminating him from the Royal Rumble match in January. Theory then hit A-Town Down to win the match and retain his title. IT'S LOGAN PAUL!!!!@LoganPaul just cost @WWERollins the #USTitle at #WWEChamber! pic.twitter.com/6xtDawHvnU — WWE (@WWE) February 19, 2023 Paul was last seen at the 2023 Royal Rumble event, where he was a surprise entrant. He had an incredible spot with Ricochet, when the two collided mid-air, after jumping off of the top rope. Editor’s Opinion: It’s no surprise that he made his return and cost Seth Rollins do United States championship. It seems that a match between the two superstars at Wrestle..
That is serious. While wrestling storylines are pre-determined, the action that you see between the bells is very real. It takes special athleticism and incredible talent to make everything work safely, but there will always be physical issues brought on as a result. This can lead to some serious issues for wrestlers and that is the case again with one of the biggest names of all time. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They Got It: WWE Went To Extreme Lengths For Royal Rumble Surprise Last week’s edition of Monday Night Raw was the Raw XXX special, celebrating thirty years of the show. The show featured a variety of legends from throughout the last thirty years, meaning several legends were present for the show. Call it a crossover. Wrestlers receive a lot of criticism due to the pre-planned results of their matches, but it does not take away from the athleticism. The wrestlers that can get to the top of the industry are incredible athletes and some of the best you will find in any sport. It can be interesting to see what happens when wrestlers try their hand at another sport and that is the case again. That’s a bit one. Roman Reigns has held the WWE Undisputed Title for two and a half years and there is nothing to suggest that he is going to be losing the title anytime soon. Unfortunately this has led to Reigns having almost no credible challengers left. WWE has brought in some legends to challenge Reigns, and now it seems that WWE has tried to find another such to go after the title. According to Fightful Select, WWE pitched a match between Roman Reigns and Steve Austin for WrestleMania 39. There is no word as to whether or not Austin accepted the offer, though the money offered was said to be “enormous”. Another source said that Austin had another major name pitched to him as well. Austin returned to the ring or the first time in nineteen years last year at WrestleMania 38, defeating Kevin Owens. This would have been big. He deserved it. The most tragic wrestling story of the year so far is the sudden death of Jay Briscoe, who was killed earlier this week in a car accident. It suits her. There are some incredible athletes in wrestling and a lot of them do not get the credit that they deserve for being so skilled at what they do. A big part of this is their fitness and athleticism, both of which can be overlooked. The prizefighter didn’t like the prize. Kevin Owens was recently a guest on the After The Bell podcast with Corey Graves, revealing that he was not a fan of his 2016 Universal Championship Run. Below is a highlight from the interview: “I used always to want more and more and more. What’s next? What’s next? What’s next? There are so many moments over the past eight years that I didn’t properly enjoy because I was always worried about what was the next thing. When I was Universal Champion, I had this incredible run with Chris Jericho and so many great moments, so many fun moments that people still talk about today. I’m ashamed to say that I really did not enjoy that as much as I should have.” Owens won the title after Finn Balor was forced to vacate the championship due to injury shortly after becoming the first-ever champion. [H/T to SEScoops for the transcription] Editor’s Opinion: This is somewhat surprising, and some thing I haven’t thought about in a number of years. I figured..
He’s up next. It has been a long time since WWE fans have seen anything like Roman Reigns’ current World Title reign. After almost two and a half years as the Universal Champion, the question becomes who could possibly take the title from Reigns. It is going to take an incredible effort, and now we might have a better idea of who is coming after the title next. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: On The Clock? WWE Reportedly Considering Plans For Next Draft According to Wrestlingnews.co, the current penciled in plan for the Royal Rumble calls for Kevin Owens to challenge Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. Former WWE superstar CJ Perry, known as Lana in WWE, was recently interviewed by In The Kliq Podcast to promote her upcoming role on VH1’s “The Surreal Life.” She discussed a number of topics, including a return to professional wrestling. Below are some highlights from the interview: Lana On returning to professional wrestling: “I’m open to everything in life. If I put my dreams in a box, I wouldn’t be where I am today. So, I mean, Triple H, he’s a genius. Stephanie’s a genius. I got hired by Triple H. He paired me with Miro and helped really cultivate that, in 2014, that story and that gimmick and those characters. He really helped me develop the Ravishing Russian, so I think he has an incredible creative mind. I think he is an incredible storyteller and entertaining. If the story is right, if it makes sense, I’m always open to go back to WWE and tell compelling stories and same with AEW. I’m totally open to that too. I love working with my husband and creating and telling stories...
He’s a big one to add. Wrestling has a unique reputation in sports, as the wrestlers are seen as athletes but not in a legitimate competition. They can clearly do things that most people can’t, but they do not have the most respect when it comes to other athletes. It can mean something to have more accepted sports stars engage with wrestling, and that will be happening again next week. Ariel Helwani has announced via his Twitter that former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier will serve as guest referee for the upcoming Fight Pit match between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle at WWE Extreme Rules. Cormier is a long time wrestling fan who has talked about doing something with WWE. Extreme Rules is scheduled for next Saturday, October 8. We have some sad news to report as WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend Antonio Inoki has passed away at age 79. From WWE.com: One of the key figures in the history of Japanese wrestling, Antonio Inoki was among the most respected men in sports entertainment and a bona fide legend in his homeland. Born in Yokohama, Japan in 1943, Inoki grew into a natural in-ring competitor. The incredible squared circle figure found his greatest success in New Japan Pro Wrestling, a promotion he founded in 1972. Over the course of the next two decades, Inoki built NJPW into the most successful wrestling company in Asia. Utilizing talented Japanese competitors like Tatsumi Fujinami and Riki Choshu, innovative high-flyers like Tiger Mask and Dynamite Kid, and American Superstars like Bob Backlund and Vader, the young promoter created a product that was unique, influential, and far ahead of its time. In addition to running the company, Inoki himself was one of the top stars in NJPW, carrying the cha..
It suits him. There are certain wrestlers who are associated with certain events. Undertaker and Shawn Michaels are most famous for their Wrestlemania performances. Randy Orton has had some incredible success at Survivor Series. Roman Reigns and Steve Austin are perhaps the best Royal Rumble competitors ever. Those are some of the biggest shows of the year, but what about the lower level ones? Mick Foley has released a music video entitled Mr. In Your House, celebrating his success at the series of WWF pay per views which were considered the more minor shows the company produced in the 1990s. Foley has referenced this moniker over the years, saying that “no one came through more when it mattered less”. Foley released the video as part of his Foley Is Pod series. I think this speaks for itself. Check out Foley’s efforts: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Well that made my day. Not many people can say it. There are legends in wrestling and then there are all time greats, who are the biggest names in the history of the industry. Those are the people that you hear about for years after their careers are over, but occasionally they reach that top level while still active. That is technically still the case with an all time great, and now we are getting a special look back at what he has done. This December, Ric Flair will be celebrating 50 years in professional wrestling. As a result, Flair has released a video looking at his entire career, including a look at some of the highest points. Also included are clips of Flair in action every year he wrestled, beginning back in 1972 and going all the way through his final match in July of this year. The video runs over an hour and forty minutes. This is pretty awesome. Check out what Flair has done over the years: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Your opinions on Flair aside, there is no way to i..
They are in for a treat. Roman Reigns has dominated the last two years in WWE and there is nothing to suggest that anything will be changing in the near future. Reigns has run through almost everyone there is to face and that leaves him lacking in serious competition. There are still some big names left out there though and WWE may be moving him in the direction of one of them. The Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada is advertising an Undisputed WWE Universal Title match between Reigns and AJ Styles at the September 24 Saturday Night’s Main Event live event. The match marks the first time Reigns and Styles have faced off in a singles match since their feud over the WWE Title in 2016. There is nothing to suggest that a televised match or feud between the two is coming anytime soon. Opinion: I would certainly be down for a match between these two, as Styles is an all time great and one of the most successful stars in WWE today. He would make a credible threat to Rei..
There he is again. There is no one in wrestling history like Brock Lesnar, who is one of the most incredible athletes the industry has ever seen. Lesnar is not only a former NCAA Heavyweight Champion in wrestling, but he is also a powerhouse second to very few. It means a lot to see him in a WWE match and now we know when we might be seeing him next. Lesnar has been advertised for the upcoming Day One event in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday January 1, 2023. This is currently the next advertised appearance for Lesnar, who lost to Roman Reigns in the main event of Summerslam in a Last Man Standing match. There is no word on whether Lesnar will be appearing again before Day One and there is always the chance that the appearance could be changed. Although many thought it could be Lesnar's last WWE match at SummerSlam, turns out it might not be the case. It’s always a possibility. Wrestlers are some of the hardest working athletes you will see anywhere and they put their bodies through some incredible effort every time they get in the ring. Unfortunately there is always the chance that someone is going to get hurt, which is a possibility for everyone on the card. It very well may have happened again to a fairly big name. Becky Lynch lost to Bianca Belair in a Raw Women’s Title match during the opening match of this weekend’s WWE Summerslam. According to Wrestlingnews.co, Lynch was seen favoring her shoulder throughout the match and left the stadium with the WWE medical team. There is no word on what happened to Lynch or how severe any possible injury may be, assuming the injury was a legitimate one. Opinion: This is something that can happen at any point in a match and that is never something you want to see. Lynch is one of the biggest stars in the WWE women’s division and arguably one of the biggest in the entire company and it wou..
