Bobby Fish Shoots Down Rumors Of WWE Jump, Talks Disappointment With Story

He would know. There have been all kinds of stories surfacing over the last few weeks involving wrestlers possibly jumping from one promotion to another. This has created some issues as there are all kinds of rumors and possible stories out there, plus varying sources on every story. The best option is to hear it from the wrestlers themselves, and that is the case again. One of the stories involving wrestlers jumping from one promotion to another involves Bobby Fish, who has just left AEW, attempting to get Kyle O’Reilly and Adam Cole to join him in a jump back to WWE. Fish addressed the story on the latest edition of his Undisputed podcast, saying that the story was “totally fabricated information”. Fish went on to say that he was disappointed that so many outlets, including Jim Cornette, carried the story. Since leaving AEW, Fish has debuted for Impact Wrestling. Here are some of Fish’s comments, with transcription courtesy of 411mania.com: On The Rumors Of A Potential Jump To WWE..

Another Top AEW Star Reveals Coronavirus Diagnosis

That’s never good to hear. The Coronavirus pandemic has shaken up the world in a huge way, including the professional wrestling industry. You regularly see wrestlers confirming their positive diagnoses and that is likely to be the case for the foreseeable future. That is never good to hear, and now we are hearing it again, with one of the bigger stars in wrestling today. Over the weekend, AEW’s Kenny Omega and Jim Cornette had a brief exchange on Twitter, with Omega mentioning Cornette in a response to a fan. Cornette responded, seemingly not taking kindly to Omega bringing him up. Omega responded as well, apologizing for his comments and revealing that he has tested positive for the Coronavirus. There is no word on Omega’s health at the moment, but he has been out of action since November due to a variety of injuries. Will you bump up Corny’s oxygen so he can maybe get through a podcast without wheezing through every word? It’s harsh on the ears from what a I hear — Kenny Omega (@K..

KB’s Review: Three Words To Make You Care

One of the most important terms that you will hear in wrestling is storytelling, which can have a lot of different meanings. This time around, we are going to be looking at the broader definition, with the stories that propel the wrestling shows forward week to week and night to night. There are all kinds of ways to make a feud go forward, but today we are going to be looking at one of the most important aspects of wrestling storytelling that is hitting and missing today, depending on which promotion you might be watching at the moment. Last week on the Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru podcast, Cornette spoke about a feud in Smoky Mountain Wrestling between former friends Tracy Smothers and Prime Time Brian Lee. Smothers was the reigning Smoky Mountain Wrestling Heavyweight Champion but lost the title to Lee, who turned heel under the influence of the debuting Tammy Fytch (better known as Sunny in her time in the WWF). Lee had been tempted by Fytch’s various attributes and turned on his frie..

REVIEW: OVW Christmas Chaos 2001: Tomorrow’s Superstars Back Then

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? OVW Christmas Chaos 2001 Date: January 31, 2001 Location: Louisville Gardens, Louisville, Kentucky Commentator: Jim Cornette Ah OVW, how much I love thee. This is from sometime around Christmas of 2001 which I’ll try to find an exact date for (future edit: got it). OVW was the official developmental organization for WWE for a very long time, just like FCW is now. They didn’t have PPVs but they had big shows where WWF guys would come down and this is one of them. The production value is very low here and the fact t..

Wrestling World Pays Tribute To Beautiful Bobby Eaton

I’d call it deserved. It is pretty rare to have someone be practically universally revered in wrestling. There are very few people who have almost nothing held against them and when you find someone who fits the description,, you know that they are something special. The wrestling world lost someone like that this week and now the world wants to say goodbye to him. Beautiful Bobby Eaton passed away earlier this week at the age of 62. Eaton was most famous as a tag team wrestler, mainly for his time as part of the Midnight Express with Stan Lane and Dennis Condrey with Jim Cornette as their manager. He was also known as one of the kindest wrestlers in history as well as incredibly skilled in the ring. The wrestling world has since begun to pay tribute, including a statement by WWE. The National Wrestling Alliance is Saddened to hear about the passing of the legendary 'Beautiful' Bobby Eaton. We send our love to his friends and family. His impact & legacy will always be r..

“Beautiful” Bobby Eaton Passes Away At Age 62

We have some sad news to report this morning as professional wrestling legend “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton has passed away at the age of 62. The news was confirmed by his sister, Debbie Lewis, via Facebook. From WrestlingInc.com: Eaton was hospitalized in late July after suffering a bad fall. He reportedly broke several fingers and damaged his hip during the fall. It’s unknown if his passing is related to the earlier accident. Eaton was best known for his work as one half of The Midnight Express. Under the management of Jim Cornette, he originally teamed with Dennis Condrey and, later on, with Stan Lane. A pioneer in the art of tag team wrestling, he also tagged with the likes of Arn Anderson, Koko B. Ware, Steve Keirn, and William Regal. Eaton wrestled for extended periods of time for various promotions such as Mid-America Wrestling, Continental Wrestling Association, Mid-South Wrestling, WCCW, Jim Crockett Promotions, WCW, and Smoky Mountain Wrestling. He also made brief guest appeara..

This is the second in his 5 Labors of Jericho series. .@The_MJF wastes no time for Labour #2. And OMG it's @thekingnickgage! Wrestling Legends Rip Fan Who Jumped Barricade At AEW Dynamite

They should be annoyed. Wrestling fans are starting to return to the arenas in large numbers for the first time in well over a year and that is a great thing for everyone involved. Fans get to see wrestling in person for a change and the promotions are getting some money brought in. At the same time though, it does not mean everything is going to work out well. That was the case last week and now some people are reacting. During this week’s AEW Dynamite, a fan jumped the barricade and approached the ring during a Chris Jericho and Maxwell Jacob Friedman segment. Security got rid of the fan and Jericho himself even got in a shot on him. Later, the fan sent out a tweet saying that he was doing this due to Jim Cornette’s comments over the AEW roster being pretend wrestlers. Cornette and Jericho responded to the fan’s tweet and it did not go well. Got news for you dipshit, the ring is sacred ground for US, and even if you and a lot of others THINK you can kick the shit out of the Young B..

WWE Makes A Last Second Scheduling Change

Maybe later. The WWE Network was a complete game changer for wrestling fans. After years of having to collect wrestling content on their own, fans could now have access to all kinds of material that they might not have seen in years. The service has since switched over to Peacock, but it is no less of an amazing option than it was before. However, we might have to wait a bit on a new special. The latest episode of the WWE Icons series, focusing on Lex Luger, did not air on Sunday July 4 as scheduled. According to Wrestlinginc.com, the episode was delayed because WWE wanted a stronger lead in program before the show aired. There is no word on when the show will eventually air. It will include interviews with Ric Flair, Sting, Jim Cornette, Bret Hart and Luger himself. Luger had a heck of a career. Check out what he has done in the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I’m not ..

KB’s Review: The Midnight Express Should Give WWE Sneering Lessons

You can call wrestling a lot of things, but ultimately it is about telling a story. That can be accomplished in a lot of different ways, but there are a few things that have to be there to make the whole thing work. You need the right characters, the right story and the right actions, but you also need the right energy. If the vibe isn’t right, the whole thing is not going to work out. An old clip made me think about this earlier this week and it kind of shows you something that is missing from modern wrestling. First off, the clip: [This post contains video, click to play] And now, some backstory. This is from Starrcade 1987 in Chicago, with the United States Tag Team Champions, the Midnight Express (Beautiful Bobby Eaton on the left and Sweet Stan Lane on the right. If you somehow haven’t seen them before….egads man get out of this thing and go watch one of the best teams of all time.), on the way to the ring for a non-title Skywalkers (scaffold) match. Jim Cornette and his bodyg..

Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against Jim Cornette And His Wife

This does not sound good. Thursday saw a host of major wrestling names being accused of either sexual assault or sexual harassment as wrestling’s version of the MeToo movement seemed to begin. This is a story that is going to be going around for a good while to come and that should be the case. There are a lot of names included, and one of the biggest is receiving more details than almost anyone else. Jim Cornette is one of the more controversial figures in all of wrestling. While he is one of the more knowledgeable names in the industry, some of his comments and statements have gone a good bit over the line. Couple that with Cornette’s very brash demeanor and it is no surprise that he is not going to be well received by some people. There are now allegations against him as well and they are not likely to go well either. On Thursday, former Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW, of which Cornette owned a piece and was an on air performer) performer Phil Earley said that Cornette’s wife Stacey (..

KB’s Review: Jinder Mahal And The Austin Theory Theory

There are a lot of elements that go into wrestling but there is one thing that a lot of fans can forget: the promotion putting on the show can tell (almost) whatever story they would like. That’s a detail that is so often overlooked and it hurts the product quite a bit. The reality though is a wrestling company can have its wrestlers go to any story they want at any given time. In one of his many (many) rants available on YouTube, Jim Cornette tells a story of running Ohio Valley Wrestling and seeing his top heel come to a show suddenly bald. The wrestler, Doug Basham, explained that WWE had wanted to see what he looked like bald. This sent Cornette over the edge (again) because Basham was one of his top stars. Cornette’s (paraphrased) response was “Give me two weeks’ notice, I’ll book him in a hair vs. hair match, shave him myself and sell some tickets.” Now notice what Cornette is saying in that short statement: it isn’t hard to book Basham in a hair vs. hair match even if the stor..

LISTEN: Jim Cornette Slams Ronda Rousey Over Comments About Wrestling And Fans

That didn’t go well. To say Ronda Rousey was a big success in WWE is about as much of an understatements as you can get. While it’s true that she had a lot of attention, star power and celebrity status when she came into the company, she hit the ground running and was a huge star in the company the second she arrived. Since leaving though, things have not been as pleasant and one famous wrestling personality didn’t take kindly to it. Last week, Rousey gave an interview where she did not have the most positive things to say about her time in WWE. Rousey said that while she did love her time with the rest of the locker room and wanted to help them, she wanted nothing to do with the “ungrateful” fans, blaming them for ruining her time with the company. This rubbed some people the wrong way and someone had something to say about her comments. Jim Cornette responded to Rousey’s comments this week on his Jim Cornette’s Drive Thru podcast. Cornette did not care for Rousey’s statements, with..

Major League Wrestling Fusion Results – March 30, 2019

Fusion #51 Date: March 30, 2019 Location: Cicero Stadium, Chicago, Illinois Commentators: Jim Cornette, Rich Bocchini It’s the last show in Chicago before we head up to New York for Battle Riot. The problem is this show doesn’t really do much to build towards its specials, meaning it’s not going to be much more than a regular episode. That’s not the worst thing in the world though and this week will feature Teddy’s Hart’s open challenge for the Middleweight Title. Let’s get to it. Salina de la Renta sends El Hijo de LA Park somewhere to give someone whatever he wants for an advantage in Battle Riot. Opening sequence. We open with a preview of Battle Riot, a two hour special. Recap of Teddy Hart getting arrested and Dynasty destroying Brian Pillman Jr. last week. Ariel Dominguez vs. Daga Low Ki is on commentary due to ripping off Daga’s ear a few months back. The fans are behind Daga as the much smaller Ariel spins out of a wristlock. A headlock works a bit better for Daga and a d..

What Will Be Bruce Prichard’s Official Title Within WWE?

It had been previously reported that WWE has recently re-hired Bruce Prichard to be a “right-hand man” for Vince McMahon in upper management. Prichard was formerly known as Brother Love in the 80s. But what will his official title be? According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Prichard will officially be known as a Senior Vice President. Jim Cornette elaborated on Prichard’s hiring on a recent edition of the “Two Man Power Trip: “Bruce Prichard is going to serve on the creative team because Vince McMahon knows that Bruce get it. He gets it and he can relay it to other people. What is `it?’ `It’ is what Vince McMahon likes and what Vince wants and I he is probably (and I can see Vince sitting there) saying that they just don’t get it, these damn people and these kids they just don’t get it.” “I guarantee you that Bruce Prichard will be able to articulate what Vince McMahon wants to these people probably better than Vince can because Vince sometimes sends it..
