Monday Night Raw Date: January 16, 2023 Location: Heritage Bank Center, Cincinnati, Ohio Commentators: Corey Graves, Kevin Patrick We’re less than two weeks away from the Royal Rumble and also quite possibly on the second straight week of doing very little because the show is up against a huge football game. The Royal Rumble is in less than two weeks and odds are that we’ll be seeing some more names announced for the namesake matches. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here are the Usos and Solo Sikoa for a chat. They’re here in our city but need to address what happened on Smackdown. Kevin Owens needs to learn that you can’t be a problem for Roman Reigns. Speaking of Reigns, there is something big planned for next week’s Raw XXX. Every generation of the Bloodline will be joining together for an acknowledgment ceremony, plus they’ll beat Judgment Day. Cue Judgment Day, with Rhea Ripley saying they run Raw and Finn Balor saying they ran through the tag division and are now the #1 co..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Starrcade 2018 Date: November 25, 2018 Location: US Bank Arena, Cincinnati, Ohio Commentators: Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton This is something that could range from interesting to head scratching. Last night, WWE held a big house show featuring stars from both shows under the name of Starrcade. The show ran about three and a half hours and tonight we’re seeing a one hour version with some special moments and matches selected. Let’s get to it. We open with Elias playing a little song. He knows it can’t get better than h..
That sounds like a plan. There are a lot of things that go down throughout a wrestling show, including things that do not take place in front of the audience. That is the kind of thing that you see take place on any given show, but at the same time, it does not mean that you are seeing something take place as it seems. Now we know a bit more about how a major promotion makes this work. Fightful Select has some details on AEW’s backstage production setup. AEW reportedly films several of their backstage segments in advance rather than live in an effort to reduce travel costs. If a wrestler is only going to be at an event for a short backstage segment, it will be filmed in advance rather than bringing someone in for a full day. For example, Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland’s backstage segment in Cincinnati was filmed in Toronto the previous week to avoid bringing in Lee and Strickland for a brief moment of filming. Opinion: This is one of those totally logical concepts and I have no idea..
Dynamite Date: October 18, 2022 Location: Heritage Bank Center, Cincinnati, Ohio Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz We’re here for a big show as there are several titles on the line. The main event will see Jon Moxley defending the World Title against Hangman Page, with MJF hanging over their heads. The Trios Titles and the Interim Women’s Title are on the line too as the card is rather stacked. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Trios Titles: Death Triangle vs. Best Friends/Orange Cassidy Death Triangle is defending. Trent shoulders Pac down to start and they trade some jumps until Trent hits a clothesline. Everything breaks down and Fenix hits a heck of a Swanton for two on Chuck, who is back up to toss Fenix into something like a spear. The Friends’ triple splash is broken up and Death Triangle hit the stereo running flip dives to the floor. We settle down to Pac kicking Cassidy in the back of the head and Fenix taking him into the corner as we take a break. Back with ..
They’re not done yet. A major wrestling television taping can include all kinds of things in a given night. Some of them are more interesting than others, but there is something special about seeing something that is going to be aired on national, if not international, television. Sometimes though, you even get something that didn’t air on TV and that can be all the better. That was the case again this week. Following this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite in Cincinnati, Ohio, the Blackpool Combat Club came to the ring to celebrate with Jon Moxley, who told people to say a prayer for the injured Hangman Page. This brought out Ryan Nemeth, who Moxley referred to as Dolph Ziggler (Nemeth’s brother), before the Club beat Nemeth up for mocking Cincinnati. Moxley thanked the fans and talked about growing up in Cincinnati, albeit with some microphone issues. After his speech, Moxley talked to a security guard and asked for his thoughts on the Heritage Bank Arena sound system. Moxley put him i..
We all smell what he’s cooking. Tonight, Dwayne Johnson provided the introduction for Super Bowl LVI (56) between the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals. He has a history with football; from 1990 to 1994, he played for the University of Miami Hurricanes. Although he would be a part of the national championship team in 1991, Johnson would appear in a backup role, starting only one game in four years. After Johnson graduated in 1995, he signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League as a linebacker. He was assigned to the practice roster but was cut tw..
Monday Night Raw Date: January 31, 2022 Location: Heritage Bank Center, Cincinnati, Ohio Commentators: Byron Saxton, Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves The Royal Rumble has come and gone and that means we are officially on the Road To WrestleMania. As a result, it is time to start hammering in the pieces for the next elimination based match, as Elimination Chamber is in less than two weeks. Bobby Lashley is the new WWE Champion and that means he is going to need a challenger. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Brock Lesnar losing the WWE Title to Bobby Lashley with the help of Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman. Worry not though as Lesnar won the Royal Rumble later in the night. Here is Adam Pearce in the ring to hype up the big things we will be seeing tonight. There is a road block on the Road To Wrestlemania though, which is called the Elimination Chamber. Bobby Lashley will be defending his WWE Title inside the Elimination Chamber….and here are MVP and Lashley to interrupt. MVP rants abo..
He’ll be sticking around. We are less than two days away from the Royal Rumble and that means things are starting to get serious around WWE. The Road To WrestleMania will officially begin and WWE will be turning things up a bit. Some wrestlers are going to be in more prominent roles, including some of the bigger names in the company. Now it seems that we will be seeing one of them even more than expected. According to 411mania.com, Brock Lesnar is being advertised for the Elimination Chamber event on February 19 in Saudi Arabia, as well as multiple Monday Night Raw and SmackDown events. The television appearances begin on the February 14 Monday Night Raw and end on the March 11 SmackDown, though Lesnar is not advertised for every show. Here is when he is being advertised: * January 30: WWE Raw (Cincinnati, Ohio) * February 14: WWE RAW (Indianapolis, Indiana) * February 19: Elimination Chamber (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) * February 21: WWE RAW (Columbia, South Carolina) * February 25: WWE ..
Welcome back. There have been more wrestlers throughout WWE’s history than anyone can reasonably keep track of and it can be interesting to see what happens once they leave. Some wrestlers get to go somewhere else and continue their careers. On the other hand, some move on and get into another industry. Then there are some who wind up leaving and then coming back later, which is what seems to have happened again. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jimmy Wang Yang is back with WWE and working as a producer. Yang wrestled on and off with WWE from 2001-2010 in a number of stints, with his most recent match with WWE coming in 2010. There is no word on which brand Yang is working or how long he has been in the role. Since leaving WWE, Yang has operated a pest control company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Yang was quite good in the ring. Monday Night Raw Date: September 27, 2021 Location: Heritage Bank Center, Cincinnati, Ohio Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We’re done with Extreme Rules and the biggest changes involve a doll and this show. First up, Charlotte destroyed Lillie the doll last night, sending Alexa Bliss into an emotional breakdown. Other than that we have a WWE Championship match set for the top of the show, because Monday Night Football is going to kill them otherwise. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Big E. cashing in Money in the Bank to win the WWE Title, plus pinning Bobby Lashley again last night at Extreme Rules in a six man tag. The rematch is set for tonight. WWE Title: Big E. vs. Bobby Lashley Big E. is defending and after the Big Match Intros, we’re ready to go. Lashley powers him into the corner to start so Big E. fires off a slap to the face. That earns him a beating in the corner and a snap suplex for less than one. A clothesline puts Big E. on the floor but ..

Cyber Sunday 2006 Date: November 5, 2006 Location: US Bank Arena, Cincinnati, Ohio Attendance: 7,000 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler It’s time for the interactive show as we have the fans picking a lot of the specifics about the card. This can range from stipulations to titles on the line to participants, though hopefully we don’t have more of the two joke options and one real one. The main event is the Champion of Champions match, which certainly sounds big. Let’s get to it. The opening video talks about ho..
Rampage Date: September 10, 2021 Location: Fifth Third Arena, Cincinnati, Ohio Commentators: Jim Ross, Mark Henry, Taz, Tony Schiavone The biggest week in AEW history wraps up here with a pay per view quality match. This week’s feature match will see Pac vs. Andrade El Idolo in a match that was supposed to take place at All Out. Instead it is happening here, along with hometown boy Brian Pillman Jr. facing the rather rude Max Caster. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Pac vs. Andrade El Idolo Chavo Guerrero is here with Idolo. They stare each other down to start before going at it in a hurry. Andrade catches him with a basement dropkick and we hit the Tranquilo pose. Some kicks in the ribs just wake Pac up and he hurricanranas Andrade outside for the big running flip dive. Pac whips him hard into the barricade and we hit the chinlock back inside. Andrade snaps off a running boot to the face and a hanging DDT onto the apron sends Pac hard to the floor. That means Andrade can hit hi..
Dynamite Date: September 8, 2021 Location: Fifth Third Arena, Cincinnati, Ohio Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Taz We’re in for a special one this week as it is the All Out fallout show, which will feature a bunch of wrestlers making their Dynamite debuts, or at least making a special appearance. The next major show is Grand Slam in two weeks and that is going to require some building up. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. All Out recap video. Dustin Rhodes vs. Malakai Black Dustin is fighting for his family/multiple stable mates who have been taken out by Black. They start fast with Dustin hammering him into the corner and snapping off a German suplex out of said corner. Dustin takes it to the floor and keeps pounding but Black drops him hard through a table to put him in trouble. The referee goes to check on him so Black takes off a turnbuckle pad. Back in and Black knees him in the ribs before grabbing a chinlock. Black switches over to a kneebar but Dustin gets over to ..
It can happen to anyone. AEW has gone from non-existent to one of the biggest wrestling companies in the world in less than three years. Now that things have changed a bit in the Coronavirus pandemic, AEW is able to get out of Jacksonville and tour around the United States again. That means a lot of extra work, and that was even more of the case this week. According to Wrestling Observer Live, the Young Bucks and some other AEW wrestlers had travel issues leaving Chicago after AEW All Out last Sunday night. Instead of being able to fly to the show, the wrestlers were forced to drive or take a busy five to six hours to Cincinnati, Ohio for this week’s Dynamite. This was said to be especially difficult for some of the wrestlers who were banged up from the pay per view. Everyone will be at this week’s show as scheduled. It isn’t easy in AEW. Check out some of the company’s harder hitting matches: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [T..

The big matches for this show were scheduled to be Chris Benoit vs. Jeff Jarrett in a 2/3 falls match for the US Title and Bret Hart defending his WCW World Title against Goldberg. He knows it can’t get better than having him here but he’s willing to try with a special guest. That would be Ric Flair, who puts Elias over as a big deal. Elias thinks they need to sing a son off his album and asks people to silence their cell phones, but here are Nia Jax, Mickie James, Tamina and Alicia Fox to cut them off. Nia says they want to walk with him and Flair is rather pleased. Flair calls them all beautiful and Elias sings some of Elias’ Words. Even Flair gets in a few lines and dances a bit u..
Sure why not. Last year, WWE brought back Starrcade in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, marking the first edition of the show in about seventeen years. Now it seems to be a tradition over Thanksgiving weekend (the show’s original time, at least in general) and I took in this year’s edition in the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. The show ran over three and a half hours, including a fifteen minute intermission. Before the show, they aired an ad for the Wednesday night lineup, including the Mae Young Classic. The show that ended a month ago. The crowd was hot all night and attendance was strong, with some sections blocked off. I didn’t see a hard camera so I’m not sure how this was shot, though there were regular cameramen around all night. The show opened with a tribute video to Dusty Rhodes, who created the idea for Starrcade. This was well received and you could tell the fans were slightly older here, with a lot of Ric Flair and Dusty fans all night long. After a Welcome to Starrc..
Well it’s a better name. You’re familiar with WrestleMania right? You know, biggest show of the year, most important wrestling event ever and that show that sells out a 70,000 person stadium every year? It’s true that it’s a big deal, but it’s far from the first annual supershow in wrestling history. That would be Starrcade, which debuted in 1983 and ran annually until 2000. WWE brought it back last year and now they might be doing even more with it. Starrcade is returning again this year with the event taking place on November 24 at the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. Bringing the show back wasn’t the big story, but according to PW Insider Elite by way of Ringsidenews.com, there is a reason to believe that this year’s Starrcade will be airing on the WWE Network, mainly due to the increased prices of the show. Here is the theory behind the idea: “I also asked if Starrcade would be airing on the WWE Network on November 26th and my gut feeling is that maybe it will. Because the prim..
