Jake “The Snake” Roberts: “I Chose Drugs and Alcohol Over a Family”

Jake “The Snake” Roberts was recently interviewed by Bleacher Report where he discussed a number of topics. Among them were almost dying due to drugs and alcohol, becoming sober and who helped him along the way, joining AEW, and more. Below are some questions, along with “The Snake”‘s answers: Bleacher Report: Thanks to The Resurrection of Jake the Snake and the Vice episode, you aired significant issues which aren’t easy for anyone to discuss. How have your relationships with your family changed after addressing those pitfalls of the past? Jake Roberts: “It’s gotten better. My oldest daughter and I are now golden. I have another daughter who’s golden. I have twin boys who are golden. But I do have four other children, who are…still holding their ground. I understand it. I’m not trying to shove anything down their throats. “I’m guilty of everything I did and didn’t do. It’s more things that I didn’t do, because I was never around them when I was messed up or drunk or anything like..

WATCH: Triple H Had No Idea Who Logan Paul Was Before He Came To WWE

It’s quite the introduction. Celebrities have a strange history when it comes to wrestling. There have always been famous people coming inside the wrestling bubble and at times, it can draw in an extra audience. That is a tricky balance to find though, as you do not want a celebrity with a small following taking up too much time. WWE has tried to find that balance, and now they may have again with a famous star. He just might not be famous to everyone. Triple H appeared on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast and revealed that he had never heard of Paul when approached about Paul appearing for WWE. In addition to people in WWE telling Triple H who Paul was, his children also talked about Paul, which helped show Triple H just how big of a star Paul is. Paul has wrestled twice for WWE, including last weekend at Summerslam, where he defeated the Miz. There is a lot to this. VIDEO: Second Generation Star Makes NXT Debut

The new generation. There are a lot of wrestlers throughout the world today and some of them are the children of previous wrestlers. In a way, these wrestlers have a leg up on others as they have grown up around someone in the industry and have probably been given some insight on how things work. It can be fascinating to see how they do as a result and that seems to be the case again. Arianna Grace made her debut on NXT this week, appearing in a vignette announcing her entry into the first ever women’s Breakout Tournament. Grace is formerly known as Bianca Carelli and is the daughter of former WWE star Santino Marella. She has previously wrestled for the NWA and signed with WWE earlier this year. There is no word on if Santino will be appearing in WWE with Grace. Welcome to the team. Check out Graces’s debut: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of thing that can make for some very interesting moments as you do not know how well a second generation s..

Vince McMahon’s Mother Passes Away

We have some sad news to report this morning as Vince McMahon’s mother, Vicky Askew, has passed away at the age of 101. She died peacefully in her sleep at her home in The Woodlands, TX, just outside of Houston. From her obituary: Vicki was born on July 11, 1920 in Florence, South Carolina, the only daughter of four children of Orpheus William Hanner and Victoria Kennedy Hanner. The family moved when Vicki was a young girl to Sanford and then to East Sanford, NC where she spent her childhood. Vicki was blessed with two sons, Rod and Vince, both of whom married their childhood sweethearts. Sadly, Rod passed away one year to the day before his mother. Vicki’s childhood was tough. She spoke of it in an interview for the North Shore Church in 2018: “My mother had to go to work to support me and my three brothers. She started by selling Avon. During the Great Depression, I remember drawing my foot on pasteboard and putting it in my shoe (the sole had holes and no one could afford new s..

WATCH: Special Family Reunion And Celebration After NXT

It’s a family thing. There are certain wrestling families that have been around for a very long time and whose names are going to be immediately known. Some of these families go on for more than one generation as some of the wrestlers’ children get into the business as well. That was the case again recently, and now one of the new generation has an accomplishment to share with the family. The main event of this week’s NXT New Year’s Evil saw Bron Breakker defeated Tommaso Ciampa to win the NXT Title. WWE has posted a video from after the show went off the air, featuring Breakker celebrating with his father, Rick Steiner. The video’s caption identifies Steiner by name, though Breakker has never been directly identified as part of the Steiner family on NXT TV. Ciampa also shook Steiner’s hand as he left the arena. It was an awesome moment. Check out the celebration, the title match, and the family in action: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click ..

Impact Wrestling Results – December 23, 2021

Impact Wrestling Date: December 23, 2021 Hosts: Josh Matthews, Scott D’Amore We’ve reached a holiday weekend and that means it is time for a special show. In other words, Impact is putting the brakes on the build to Hard To Kill and showcasing the Best of 2021 instead, which should make for a good night. The company has been doing well this year and they have some solid stuff to pick from, so let’s get to it. Of note: if a match is included, I’ll posting the full version rather than a clipped version. Opening sequence. From Hard To Kill. Kenny Omega/Good Brothers vs. Rich Swann/Moose/Chris Sabin Don Callis is here too and handles Omega’s entrance (which Striker says is a moment fans will be telling their children about). Anderson drives Sabin into the corner to start and a shot to the face has Sabin in some trouble. An armdrag gets him right back out though and we have a standoff. Moose and Gallows get in for the big man showdown with Moose knocking him around. Omega comes in, wi..

Bret Hart Reflects On Being Inducted Into Canada’s Walk Of Fame

It really is an honor. Wrestling is unique among other sports as while there are championships to win, they can also be lost just as fast. There are very few accomplishments that stay with someone forever in wrestling, but the ones that do last are rather important. At the same time though, there are some things that are even more impressive than wrestling, at least according to a certain legend. Bret Hart discussed his induction into the Canada Walk Of Fame during a new interview with KESQ (ABC affiliate in Palm Springs, California). Hart said that while he has been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice (on his own and as part of the Hart Foundation), this induction means more because he is representing an entire country. Hart also talked about what it meant to be a hero to children around the world, including Make-A-Wish children by being someone they could look up to on television. His induction will mark the first time that a wrestler has ever been inducted into the Canada Walk..

AEW Star Joining The Cast Of New Reality Series

Give him a shot. Wrestlers can get a weird reputation when it comes to acting. Some of them certainly have skills, but at the same time, a lot of them are only going to be able to get so far. That does not mean there are not opportunities for wrestlers in such a field, and now a fairly new wrestler is going to be getting the chance to show what he can do outside of the ring. E has announced that AEW’s Austin Gunn, the son of Billy Gunn, will be part of the cast of Relatively Famous: Ranch Rules, a new reality series. The show will see children of celebrities working on a ranch for thirty days in an attempt to get out of the shadow of their more famous parents. The first episode will debut on January 12 at 9pm EST. There is no word on how many episodes will air. Austin has done well enough in AEW so far. SmackDown Star Asks For Help With Important Cause

That’s a worthy cause. With wrestling being so prevalent today, you can always find something to watch. It makes for some great viewing, but it also lets wrestling companies get a message out there rather easily. That can also be the case with individual wrestlers, and now one of them is doing something special as a wrestler is using his platform to help other people. SmackDown’s Top Dolla has sent out a tweet, announcing that he is holding his fifth annual canned food drive for Sarah’s House children’s homeless shelter. The drive is being held in Fort Meade, Maryland on November 19-21. Top Dolla’s tweet asked for dirt sheet sites that report on everything he said and try to make money off of his name with clickbait articles every week. Asking all Dirt Sheet websites that report on everything I say every week & try to make clickbait headlines to get publicity off my name to report that I’ll be having my 5th Annual Canned Food Drive for Sarah’s House children’s homeless shelter in For..

New AEW Star Explains Why He Came Out Of Retirement So Soon

Stick around. Wrestlers have a weird career trajectory as you don’t always know when someone is going to hang up their boots for good. Some wrestlers are going to announce their retirements and walk away, but others have a tendency to come back over and over. Another rather young wrestler is doing that as well, and now we have an explanation about why. Last week, AEW announced that Lio Rush had signed with the company. This came only a few months after Rush retired from wrestling, though he was fulfilling his contractual obligations with New Japan. Rush appeared on Vickie Guerrero’s Excuse Me podcast, where he explained why he continued wrestling for AEW. During the interview, Rush explained that his family took a financial hit due to his WWE release and his music career did not pan out as expected. He also did not get to spend as much time as he wanted with his children and moved to AEW as a result. Rush is a heck of a talent. Check out who is coming to AEW: [This post contains vid..

Title Change Takes Place On Monday Night Raw

That’s one of the important parts. Titles are one of the most important parts of a wrestling show as they are about as easy of a concept as you can have for any fan. The best wrestlers around have a shiny belt and other wrestlers want to take them away. That is something you are going to see in wrestling on a pretty regular basis and it was the case again this week. During this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw, the team of Rhea Ripley and Nikki Ash won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles from Natalya and Tamina. This marks the first title reign for Ripley and the third for Ash, whose previous two title reigns both came with Alexa Bliss. Prior to the match, Ripley and Ash dedicated the match to children suffering from pancreatic cancer. History has been made. Titus O’Neil Helps 30,000 Children Get Ready For School

That’s just nice. Every now and then, you find a wrestler who takes their celebrity status and runs with it. They will use their resources to help positively impact a community in one way or another, often through charitable activities. Sometimes a wrestler does more charity work than actual wrestling, with such a situation being on display during this week’s Monday Night Raw. This week’s Monday Night Raw featured a video on Titus O’Neil hosting the 4th Annual Back To School Bash at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The event saw 30,000 children receive backpacks full of school supplies as they begin the new year. O’Neil has been regularly involved with charitable activities and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a recipient of the Warrior Award in 2020. He’s a good guy. Special Event Being Planned For After Summerslam

The real biggest party of the summer. WWE is getting back to normal from the Coronavirus and that is a great thing for fans. In addition to everything that is changing around the country, WWE has live fans back in attendance for their shows. This includes Summerslam, which may be the biggest show WWE presents all year. There are going to be things other than just the show, and one of them will be rather star studded. Entertainment Tonight is reporting that Tiffany Haddish will be hosting the official Summerslam after party in Las Vegas, Nevada. The invitation-only event will feature various celebrities and wrestlers, though no location has been announced. Wrestlers mentioned in the announcement include Ric Flair, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley and Goldberg. WWE has also made a donation to Haddish’s She Ready Foundation, which provides resources for foster children. WWE has had some parties of their own before. Check out some of their better ones: [This post contains video, click to pla..

VIDEO: WWE Shows Look At Its Amazing Charity Work

That’s worth bragging about. WWE may not be quite the force that it has been in the past, but it is still doing some things at a level that has not been seen before in wrestling. The company has grown to a level that no promotion could ever have imagined and brings in more money than they know what to do with at times. It seems that they are helping some others though and that is a good thing. WWE has released a new video called “Go Beyond The Ring”, which showcases some of the work the company has done with charity in recent years. This mainly includes WWE stars meeting with various children in places such as schools and hospitals. The theme of the video is that these are the actions that you do not see from WWE. This is the same video which also aired on SmackDown this week. This is pretty cool. Check out the video, plus another look at some of WWE’s charity work: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, cli..

VIDEO: Emotional Moment Takes Place After Monday Night Raw

She earned it. Winning a title can mean a lot to a wrestler’s career, but winning one for the first time is even more important. It shows that you are officially moving up to the next level and that the promotion has some faith in you. At the same time, you can often see the emotion on someone’s face when they win the title, which was the case again for a first time champion. At the end of Monday Night Raw, Nikki Ash cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase on Charlotte to win the Raw Women’s Title for the first time in her career. WWE has released a video from after the show went off the air, showing Ash celebrating with the fans, including several children. It is not clear if there was another match after the television broadcast ended. I’d say she has earned it. Check out the celebration, plus what is coming to the title: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Ash is one of thos..

Matt and Jeff Hardy’s Father Passes Away

We have some sad news to report, as Claude Gilbert Hardy, father of Matt and Jeff Hardy, passed away last week at the age of 87. Matt took to Instagram to write a tribute in honor of his late father. An excerpt of that is below: Our Dad started out as our biggest critic when we first wanted to chase the dream of being pro wrestlers. After a few years of struggling & then finding success in the WWE, our Dad became our biggest fan. He was so proud to be “The Hardy Boyz Daddy” & recorded every match of ours on his VCR. Our Dad was a favorite of Hardy fans, even earning the nickname of “The Legend.” Jeff & I feel so blessed to have had our Dad live to be 87 years old. He got to see his children live out their dreams & give him many grandchildren to continue the Hardy name & bloodline. Early Tuesday morning, April 6th, our Dad passed away. Jeff & I were with him at home & by his bedside when he took his final breath. My brother Jeff was our Dad’s guardian angel the last couple of years...

John Cena Releasing Two Books In 2021

In case he isn’t awesome enough. Every now and then you see someone in wrestling who does one cool thing after another. Of course they aren’t perfect and there are things that could use some adjusting, but you see something about them that makes them almost inspiring in a way. That is the case with one wrestling legend and now he is writing some of those inspirations down. Whether you are a fan of his or not, there is no denying that John Cena was a huge star during his time in WWE. Cena was the face of the company for a very long time and did a lot of things to make WWE better. One of the things that was seen well was his charity work with Make A Wish kids, with Cena shattering the all time record for most children visited. Cena is an inspiration to those kids and now he is trying to do the same thing again in a different way. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Cena will release two books based off of inspirational statements posted to his Twitter account over the years. The first..

VIDEO: John Cena Has Written Another Children’s Book

The Hollywood sign. As hard as it might be to believe, we are now living in a mostly post-John Cena WWE. After being one of the biggest stars of all time, Cena has mostly left WWE to become a player in Hollywood. It is not the most surprising thing in the world as Cena has accomplished almost everything there is to do in WWE so it is time to move onto something new. Now he is getting to do something else in a different field. One of the more interesting things that you can see a wrestler do is branch off into other fields. You don’t get to see that very often, but every now and then you see someone find something that works out rather well for them. That is the case with Cena, but it is not the kind of thing that you probably would have expected him to be doing once, let alone three times. This may surprise you. Check out Cena’s newest project: Cena was a guest on the Daily Show Wednesday night to promote his new children’s book, Elbow Grease: Fast Friends. The book is the third in..

VIDEO: New Paul Heyman Inspired Character Debuts In The Firefly Fun House

Nice to meet you. The Firefly Fun House is one of the more unique ideas that WWE has presented in a very long time. A mixture of a children’s television show and the inner workings of Bray Wyatt’s twisted mind, the series has jumped between a supernatural world, a puppet show, and something going on somewhere at the arena. That is quite the mixture, and now we have a new character on the show. The Firefly Fun House is populated not just by Wyatt, but also a series of puppets, many of whom are references to parts of Wyatt’s past or something that is designed to display an aspect of his personality. These characters often allow for some comedy, but at the same time can be used to advance various storylines involving Wyatt. That was turned up in a big way this week. This was a little different. Check out what we have to look forward to now: During this week’s SmackDown, a new character was introduced to the cast, with Wobbly Walrus being added. The character was introduced by Evil Vin..

Video: It’s Different. Check Out Bray Wyatt’s Creepy New Character (You Won’t See This Coming).

Wrestling is a weird place. In most versions of entertainment, someone leaving a show or production results in them being replaced by a new actor. That’s not the case in wrestling though, as wrestlers often change gimmicks and are presented as new characters. Some of these aren’t that big of a deal, but other times see them go in a very different direction which jars the fans. That was the case this week. This week on Monday Night Raw, Bray Wyatt made his official return after a six month absence in a drastically different gimmick. Wyatt is now hosting a children’s program called Firefly Fun House, which appears similar to Pee Wee’s Playhouse. Wyatt mentioned his previous persona and cut up a cardboard cutout of himself with a saw. It was also confirmed that the puppet and doll from recent weeks were his friends. You need to see this one for yourself. Check out Wyatt’s new world: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is one of those things where I have no idea wh..
