Smackdown Date: January 6, 2023 Location: FedExForum, Memphis, Tennessee Commentators: Michael Cole, Wade Barrett We are less than a month away from the Royal Rumble as we are officially in the new year. That means we should be in for some fun tonight and there is certainly a big main event. This week, the Usos will be defending the Tag Team Titles against Drew McIntyre/Sheamus in a match that was originally scheduled for last month. Let’s get to it. The Bloodline opens things up by throwing chairs from the crowd as Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman come to the ring to join them. Reigns demands acknowledgment and seems to receive it but doesn’t seem happy. This week, we are going to hear from Sami Zayn, who says this year belongs to the Bloodline. Zayn brags about the team winning its matches on Raw but that’s not what Reigns wants to talk about. He wants to talk about LAST YEAR when he and Zayn faced John Cena and Kevin Owens. Some people have said they lost, but Reigns doesn’t remember..
He was the new guy. One of the most difficult things for a wrestling promotion to do is elevate new stars into the main event scene. It is something that has to be done every now and then though, no matter how tricky it might be. The right wrestler has to be found in order to make it work, but even then there could be some issues. Now we know how things went a bit off when a new star was elevated. During an appearance on Out Of Character with Ryan Satin, Sheamus talked about how he was received backstage after winning the WWE Title from John Cena at Tables, Ladders And Chairs 2009. Sheamus had only been on WWE TV for about five and a half months when he won the title and said that nobody was very excited over what happened. Instead, Sheamus had backstage heat from some of the wrestlers who had been around for years and never got that kind of opportunity. Sheamus has gone on to become a four time World Champion during his WWE career. Sheamus has done alright for himself in WWE. Check ..
Rampage Date: November 18, 2022 Location: Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Chris Jericho, Excalibur It’s the go home show for Full Gear and the show has quite a bit set up in advance. The main story is advancing a tournament whose finals have been moved from Full Gear to next week, which is the best option that AEW had all things considered. Other than that, we have a special guest star so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Full Gear Contenders Tournament First Round: Ricky Starks vs. Lance Archer We start in the back (as originally planned and with Starks in street clothes) with the two of them taking turns sending each other into a metal garage door. Archer sends a backstage worker into a bunch of chairs and now they head into the arena, with Archer dragging him towards the ring. A right hand knocks Starks most of the way over a barricade and they go into the crowd with Starks diving onto him. They get to ringside, where Archer runs hi..
That would be different. WWE runs regular monthly premium live events as the focal point of their in-ring action. This includes several shows that the company has run for years if not decades, many of which are among the best known shows in wrestling. The company presents several shows that involve some kind of a special theme, but that might be changing going forward. According to Bryan Alvarez’s Super Fans Twitter account, by way of Wrestlingnews.co, WWE is planning to make a change to its premium live events starting in 2023. This would include more international events and fewer gimmick based events, such as Hell In A Cell or Tables Ladders And Chairs, for example. There is no word on what kind of shows would replace the originals. This comes after news broke that WWE was canceling it’s Day One event. Per Bryan Alvarez, WWE will make major changes to PPV/PLE events in 2023. Likely more international shows, less gimmick shows. — Wrestling News (@WrestlingNewsCo) October 16, 2022 ..
That’s the next stop. There are several WWE pay per view events in any given year and some of them have been on the calendar for a long time. While some of the shows take place every year, it might be in a different month in any given year. That can make for some surprising changes, and now one of the company’s signature shows is going to be taking place in a different way. According to F4WOnline.com, this year’s WWE Tables, Ladders And Chairs event is likely to take place in Saudi Arabia. The event would be taking place in September, which has a slot for a yet to be announced pay per view. The show has never been held in Saudi Arabia, though WWE presented the Elimination Chamber in the country earlier this year. WWE did not hold a Tables, Ladders and Chairs show in 2021. Opinion: Sure why not. It isn’t like this is one of the biggest shows of the yar so throwing it into Saudi Arabia mix is a fair enough idea. WWE has to present events in Saudi Arabia, so why not take care of one of ..
His opinion matters. Vince McMahon is the biggest force in the wrestling world and that has been the case for a very long time now. His opinions and ideas can shape the way the wrestling world works and that can lead to some rather confusing moments. Sometimes McMahon makes some decisions that feel out of left field, which was the case again when it comes to giving the fans something to cheer about. During a recent edition of his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy explained McMahon’s thoughts on giving babyface wrestlers major wins. Hardy told a story about how, at an unspecified time, the Hardy Boyz were scheduled to win the World Tag Team Titles in a Tables Ladders and Chairs match. However, McMahon changed the outcome because he felt the ending was too predictable, deciding instead that the title change would happen on the next show. Hardy summed up McMahon’s philosophy as “If you’re over as a babyface, there are times where you don’t need to win, it doesn’t make a ..
Unmark your calendars. WWE is a huge wrestling promotion and manages to stick to its schedule fairly well. There are all kinds of regular shows on the calendar, as the company ha srun a lot of the same events for several years now. You can often remember which shows are coming up in each month, but that will not always be the case, such as later this year. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE will not be presenting a pay per view this December. Instead, WWE will be using the January 1 Day One pay per view as the December pay per view, with the Royal Rumble serving as the January event as usual. WWE never announced a pay per view for December, though Tables, Ladders And Chairs traditionally fills the role. December has had some great WWE moments before. Check out what won’t be happening this year: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is something that makes sense, as the..
We aren’t done yet. One of the most interesting WWE stories over the last ten months has been Roman Reigns, who has dominated the SmackDown landscape. Reigns won the Universal Title on August 30 and there is nothing to suggest that he is slowing down anytime soon. One of the biggest problem is that Reigns is running out of challengers, but someone seems to have his eyes set on the title. This week on Talking Smack, Kevin Owens called Paul Heyman, who was not hosting the show as usual. Owens told Heyman not to hang up and promised to win the Money In The Bank contract and come after Reigns. He also said that there was nothing Heyman or Reigns could do about it. Owens qualified for Money In The Bank after defeating Sami Zayn in a Last Man Standing match on this week’s SmackDown. Owens has challenged Reigns during his time with the title, including a pair of pay per view matches. Reigns defeated Owens in a Tables Ladders And Chairs match at the pay per view of the same name in 2020, in ..
NXT Date: December 23, 2020 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph It’s the Christmas show as we have A Very Gargano Christmas. That’s special enough, but this show is also not up against Dynamite due to an NBA game so it should be interesting to see what they have on their own. We do have a title match tonight as the Tag Team Titles are on the line in a street fight. Let’s get to it. Tag Team Titles: Killian Dain/Drake Maverick vs. Oney Lorcan/Danny Burch Lorcan and Burch are defending in a street fight but Dain and Maverick jump them from behind. The champs are in some early trouble but Maverick gets taken down so Dain can be double teamed. We settle down to Dain in trouble in the corner but managing to backdrop Burch onto a pair of chairs. Maverick comes in without a tag to trip Lorcan down and Dain slams him onto Lorcan for a bonus. Dain hits a running boot in the corner to Lorcan and takes him to the floor, ..
We are less than a month away from Tables, Ladders And Chairs and that means we are going to be seeing a lot of different gimmick matches taking place on the same show. Ignoring how kind of insane it is to run at least four special matches like that on one card, there is one match in particular that has yet to be announced just yet but you can all but guarantee it being set up in one form or another. We are going to be looking at that one match today, along with the big problem that comes along with it. Over the last few months, Nia Jax has shown her continuing ability to be quite the bully around Monday Night Raw. This time around, her targets have been set on Lana, who Jax put through a table nine straight times. That’s quite the level of overkill and it was almost a relief to see Lana not go through a table for a tenth time. It was time for a change, but the new direction isn’t quite the big upgrade. Lana has been fighting back, or at least she has been having Asuka do the fightin..
Shine them up. While there are a lot of them in WWE today, titles are still what drives a good portion of the stories in wrestling. In theory, winning championships are why wrestlers compete in the first place and that makes them as important as anything else. Some people would do a lot of things to get a title, and now we might know where one such title is heading. One of the more discussed stories on Monday Night Raw over the last few weeks has been that of Nia Jax bullying Lana. Jax has put Lana through the announcers’ table nine times in a row and Lana has only recently started to fight back. The endgame of the story seems to be Lana getting her revenge, and now she might have some help in doing just that, while possibly picking up some gold along the way. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this week’s Monday Night Raw match with Asuka and Lana defeating Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler in a non-title match could set up a Women’s Tag Team Title match at Tables, Ladders And Chairs. ..
The first of its kind. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel, in which they show the first-ever Buried Alive match from the “In Your House” event of the same name in 1996. You can see the match in its entirety below: From WWE.com: Unsure of what to expect in such a morbid match, WWE officials did not sanction the bout, clearing them of any responsibility for the mayhem that was sure to occur. Mankind and The Phenom brutalized each other, brawling around Indianapolis’ Market Square Arena, back and forth between the ring and the graveyard. Steel chairs, ring steps, shovels and the concrete arena floor all came into play, as the two rivals used everything in sight to maim each other. The Undertaker seemed to have the battle wrapped up after a devastating Tombstone. He carried Mankind to the grave until the unstable Superstar locked in his dreaded Mandible Claw. The Phenom recovered from the submission hold before Mankind could crack him with Paul Bearer’s urn. That gave U..
After a very long year, we’re at the final pay per view of the calendar. In this case, that means a show with a lot of violence in the form of TLC, or tables, ladders and chairs for long. This year’s show is packed, because we need every single match on the card BECAUSE THAT’S HOW WWE WORKS! I’m not sure what to expect on the show, but odds are it’s going to be long. Let’s get to it. Finn Balor vs. Drew McIntyre We’ll start with the first match that I saw when I looked at the card. Balor has been under the weather as of late and that means…well very little really, but they’ve been fighting for a few weeks now over Balor wanting to stand up against the bully. At the same time though, McIntyre should be ready for a heck of a push and that would seem to include a win here over Balor. That’s what I’m going with here as Balor has no reason to win the thing while McIntyre can get another big win under his belt here. McIntyre is someone who can become a top star in the near future and Balor..
A place where titles change hands. We’re coming up on TLC 2018, which will of course feature the show’s namesake match: Tables, Ladders and Chairs. The match is designed to be all about violence, but at the same time there’s a lot more to it than just that. These matches are often about titles, usually because there’s no other way to settle things. However, these title matches have taken place at other shows as well, and that’s where we’re going today. It’s not just for December. Check out this latest WWE Top Ten, with some great title carnage: [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has posted a new Top Ten video, looking at TLC Title Victories. The entries on this list take place in any Tables, Ladders and Chairs match, meaning they don’t necessarily have to be at the TLC pay per view. They’re all in Tables, Ladders and Chairs matches, though not all of them include title changes. These moments go all the way from the first ever edition of the match up until modern times. ..
There’s more to life than weapons. This weekend, WWE will present its annual TLC event, featuring a variety of tables, ladders and chairs in various forms of violence. There has been more to the event than those three things though, with some rather emotional moments, including some rather surprising events. There’s enough for WWE to take another look, which is always fun. Do you have anything to say after these? Check out WWE’s latest episode of List This: [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has released a new episode of List This, looking at 5 TLC Moments That Left Us Speechless. The video focuses on moments from the show’s history rather than just Tables Ladders and Chairs matches from over the years. Included are moments that include both regular matches as well as the show’s namesake matches, with some big spots, returns and surprises. Opinion: I know the show doesn’t have the longest and deepest history in the list of WWE events, but a lot of stuff has certainly ha..

When the boss comes around, you know that things are about to go down. According to a new report from WWE.com, Vince McMahon will be making his return to Raw next Monday night, December 17. This appearance will take place one night after the 2018 TLC pay-per-view event. The Chairman made an appearance on Raw in January of 2018, on the 25th anniversary episode. You can see a clip of that below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: The landmark appearance of The Chairman comes one night after WWE TLC, where Corbin intends to be named the permanent General Manager of Raw following a forfeit victory over the injured Braun Strowman in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match, per the stipulation handed down by Commissioner Stephanie McMahon. However, rumors abound that The Monster Among Men could make an appearance at this Sunday’s WWE TLC event and stop The Lone Wolf from assuming total control of Team Red. With Mr. McMahon’s return imminent, however, Corbin could have a l..
The Man is getting another moment to shine. According to a new report from WWE.com, Becky Lynch will have her own episode of “WWE Chronicle,” and the show will debut this Saturday on the WWE Network. Lynch got involved in the main event of Smackdown Live this week, which featured Charlotte Flair against Asuka. You can see a clip of that below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch was gearing up for her highly anticipated match at Survivor Series against Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, but after taking a punch from Nia Jax, the champion found herself in “doctor jail,” and the dream match was called off. Follow Becky as she looks back on her evolution into becoming “The Man,” and join The Irish Lass Kicker on her journey back to the ring at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs in a new edition of WWE Chronicle. In addition, this week’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that cameras were shooting footage o..
