The New Generation: Former WWE Superstar Reveals Scrapped Plans For New League Of Nations

They had an idea. Stables are a concept that has worked in wrestling for decades and continues to do so to this day. It makes a lot of sense as well, as a stable allows several people with anywhere from identical to even somewhat related goals a chance to be on television together. WWE has used them for years, but there was one reincarnation that they passed on instead. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: VIDEO: Kurt Angle’s Huge Birthday Celebration Continues After SmackDown Ends Back in 2015, a group of international stars joined forces as the League Of Nations. The team, comprised of Wade Barrett, Rusev, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio, were a force in WWE until April 2016 when they split up for good. During an appearance on the 10 Count podcast, former WWE Superstar Mojo Rawley revealed that WWE had considered relaunching the League Of Nations with Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura and himself. Rawley did not say when this would have taken place or how far along the plans went. Rawley’s role in the group..

Gotcha: WWE Stars Surprised By Claudio Castagnoli Signing With AEW

Shocking. There are two major wrestling promotions in the United States today, with AEW and WWE dominating the country’s industry. That means the companies are in competition with each other, especially when it comes to signing talent. Both companies bring in stars from elsewhere, and a recent signing of a former WWE wrestler to AEW has left some people surprised. Last weekend at Forbidden Door, former WWE star Claudio Castagnoli, formerly known as Cesaro, made his debut and defeated Zack Sabre Jr. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE stars were shocked at Castagnoli going to AEW due to the amount of money that WWE offered him. It was believed that AEW was no longer matching or exceeding WWE offers, though there is a possibility that Castagnoli moved for the sake of a chance at a push rather than money. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is a bit of a surprise, especially if WWE was offering him that kind of money. Castagnoli has already made quite the impact in A..

Him Too: Former WWE Star Makes AEW Debut At Forbidden Door

There’s your new name. AEW has come a long way in just over three years of existence and a lot of its success comes from its roster. The company has more stars than it knows what to do with from around the world. As a result, the company is able to present a variety of matches with different kinds of stars and now they have a new international star to add to the list. AEW’s Forbidden Door pay per view includes a match between Zack Sabre Jr. and a mystery opponent. Sabre Jr.’s original opponent was scheduled to be Bryan Danielson, but an injury forced him from the match. Danielson hand picked an opponent in Claudio Castagnoli, better known as Cesaro, who defeated Sabre Jr. in the match. Castagnoli has since been announced as an official part of the AEW roster. Welcome to the team, @ClaudioCSRO! Claudio Castagnoli is ALL ELITE! See you this Wednesday Night for #AEWDynamite #BloodAndGuts! Thank you to everyone all around the world who watched #ForbiddenDoor tonight! pic.twitter.com/d..

Worth The Wait: Update On Cesaro’s Wrestling Status

It might be a bit. Even though WWE and AEW get most of the attention, there are a lot of wrestling promotions throughout the world. Just because a wrestler is not appearing for one of those promotions does not mean that they have no value, as there are several wrestlers who can work for multiple promotions at once. That is the case with one prominent name, but at the moment he does not seem interested in appearing anywhere. Fightful Select has more information about former WWE star Cesaro’s status. According to the report, Cesaro has been contacted by several promotions about coming in he has not accepted any bookings. Cesaro’s asking price is said to be higher than most promotions can afford, which may be by design, as he may be waiting for the right offer to come along. Cesaro is currently a free agent and allowed to appear anywhere he wants at any time. Opinion: If Cesaro is happy and able to stay at home without a need to work, good for him. There is no requirement for him to get..

BREAKING: Cesaro Gone From WWE

It was a great run. There are so many wrestlers on the WWE roster that it can be difficult for someone to stand out. At the same time, there are always going to be wrestlers who catch the fans’ eyes, but for some reason they do not catch the eyes of the people running the company. That has been the case several times, and now it seem to have happened all over again. According to PWInsider.com, Cesaro has quietly left WWE as the two sides were unable to come to terms on a new contract. Since Cesaro’s contract expired and he was not released, he does not have a no compete clause and is able to appear on any show immediately. Cesaro signed with WWE in 2011 and is a one time United States Champion and seven time Tag Team Champion, as well as the winner of the inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Opinion: This is something that almost feels long overdue, as Cesaro is someone who has felt underutilized in WWE for a good many years now. Cesaro seemed ready to break through to th..

LOOK: Nasty Injury Takes Place During WWE Day One (Slightly Graphic)

It can happen to anyone. There are all kinds of injuries in the wrestling world and some of them can be a lot more intense than others. One of the biggest problems with dealing with injuries is that they could take place at any time. That means a simple fluke accident could take someone out, and unfortunately that was the case again this weekend as a WWE star got banged up pretty badly. The WWE Day One Kickoff Show featured a tag team match between Sheamus/Ridge Holland vs. Cesaro/Ricochet. Early in the match, Ricochet attempted a 450 splash but his boot accidentally smashed Holland in the face. Holland suffered a broken nose and left the match without returning. There is no word on how long Holland will be out or what kind of treatment he may need. Sheamus went on to win the match for his team. WWE Day One 2022 Live Coverage And Results

Day One 2022 Date: January 1, 2022 Location: State Farm Arena, Atlanta, Georgia Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee, Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton It’s the first show of the year and as interesting as that is, everything has changed at the very last minute. Universal Champion Roman Reigns has announced that he has tested positive for Coronavirus, meaning that he is out of his title defense against Brock Lesnar. Worry not though, as Lesnar is now in a five way for the WWE Title. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Ridge Holland/Sheamus vs. Cesaro/Ricochet Sheamus has called Holland the replacement for Cesaro in the Bar, while Ricochet eliminated Sheamus from a recent gauntlet match. Cesaro starts with Sheamus, who bails into the corner and brings Holland in. That’s fine with Cesaro, who hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, followed by assisting Ricochet for a flipping stomp to Holland. That looked BAD as Ricochet’s boot hit him right in the face. Sheamus comes back in for the Iri..

WWE Day One Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

We’ve got a new show this week and this time it is based around a new year. I’m not sure how interesting that is for a full pay per view, but WWE has set things up around flimsier premises before. The good thing is the card looks pretty solid and we could be in for a nice event. That is assuming the Coronavirus pandemic doesn’t wreck anything at the last minute. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Ricochet/Cesaro vs. Sheamus/Ridge Holland This was added earlier in the week and it sounds good on paper. If nothing else, it is nice to see Ricochet and Cesaro getting some kind of a spot, as they so often feel like people just there to fill in time on television when no one else is available. Sheamus and Holland could make for a nice mentor/mentee twist on the Bar, which seems to be the focal point of how we got here in the first place. The tag version of this: [This post contains video, click to play] As for the match, I can’t imagine Sheamus and Holland losing when they seem to be a bit of..

First Of The Year: WWE Adds A New Match To Day One

The card grows. We are only a few days away from the end of the year and that means WWE is almost ready to air its next pay per view offering. In this case, it’s Day One, which will be taking place on the first day of the year. That means the card needs to be a strong one, and now we know how things are going to get going, with the first match of 2022 looking interesting. WWE has announced that Cesaro and Ricochet vs. Ridge Holland and Sheamus will serve as the Kickoff Show match for Day One. This comes after Cesaro has had issues with Holland and Sheamus for several weeks, while Ricochet fought Sheamus in the 12 Days of Christmas gauntlet match. This will be the first time that Ricochet and Cesaro have teamed together on television, though they have teamed together at recent live events. There is a lot of talent here. WATCH: WWE’s Greatest Feats Of Strength

It’s kind of their signature thing. WWE has been around for a very long time and has a reputation for being a big man’s wrestling promotion. The company has long since been built around the idea of power wrestlers who are able to throw others around and make it look easy. That has been the case for a long time now and WWE is taking a look back at some impressive feats of strength. WWE has released a video looking at some of the most impressive feats of strength in the history of the company. The video includes names such as Mark Henry, Undertaker, Brock Lesnar and Cesaro, but also includes some lesser known names such as Johnny Stamboli. There are moments from both WWE and WWF history, including Lex Luger body slamming Yokozuna on July 4, 1993. This is pretty impressive. New Participant Set For Men’s Survivor Series Match

He’s up next. The Survivor Series has always been a tricky show to present as there are so many people involved in the show’s namesake matches. That does not leave you a lot of options for the rest of the show, but it can get even more confusing if changes have to be made. That was the case this year, and now we seem to have the official, final lineup for everything. Last week on SmackDown, Jeff Hardy defeated Sami Zayn in a match, resulting in Zayn being removed from the SmackDown men’s Survivor Series team. There was no replacement named, so this week’s show saw a four way match to determine the final team member. Sheamus defeated Cesaro, Ricochet and Jinder Mahal to earn the final spot and complete the team. This should be good. Good News On Injured Monday Night Raw Star

That could have been worse. There are certain things in wrestling that are universal for anyone who gets in the ring, with one of the worst being the potential to get hurt. No matter how talented or skilled a wrestler might be, there is always the chance that they could get hurt in the blink of an eye. That can be a scary time, but now we are getting some good news about someone for a change. Earlier this week, WWE announced that Finn Balor was injured and unable to appear in a scheduled match at a WWE live event in the United Kingdom. However, according to Fightful.com, Balor was back in the ring on Wednesday in Manchester, England. Balor opened the show in a tag team match, teaming with Cesaro to defeat Walter and Sheamus. There is nothing to suggest that Balor will miss any more time. It’s good to have him back. Oh I Know You: WWE Changes Two Wrestlers’ Names

Who are you again? There are a lot of ways for a wrestler to get the fans’ attention but some of them are a bit simpler than others. One of the best is to have a name that is unique enough to make someone listen while also sounding like something that could be intimidating. That is a hard combination to pull off and now WWE is trying a different path with two of its wrestlers. WWE has changed the names of Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza to just Humberto and Angel, according to both of their WWE.com profiles. This follows WWE’s trend of dropping wrestlers’ first or last names, such as with Cesaro, Big E. and Ali. There is no word on why the names were changed, though the two have been teaming together, under the name Los Lotharios as of this week’s SmackDown. They are talented guys under any name. Check out the two of them together and apart: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: ..

WWE Considered Bringing Back Surprising Stable

What could have been. There have been all kinds of stables over the years in wrestling and some of them have been rather popular in their days. Above all else, a stable can do well when there is a common theme between the members. Some of them are better than others, and the good ones are rarely rehashes of previous editions. WWE avoided making a similar mistake. During a recent Highspots interview, former WWE star Mojo Rawley revealed that WWE was considering a reformation of the League of Nations. The idea would have seen Rawley teaming with Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro while serving as the group’s mouthpiece. This concept never came to pass though and Rawley was paired with Rob Gronkowski for WrestleMania 36 instead. Around the same time, Cesaro and Nakamura were teamed with Sami Zayn as the Artist Collective. Rawley was released from WWE earlier this year. This could have been something. Check out the original team plus the potential members of the new version: [This post contai..

VIDEO: WWE Announces Injury To SmackDown Star

Hopefully it isn’t too bad. Just like in other sports, there are all kinds of injuries in wrestling. You never know when you are going to see someone go onto the injured list and miss some ring time. To make things even more complicated, there is always the chance that the injury is part of a storyline and not legitimate. It seems that the latter is the case this time. WWE announced an injury update to Cesaro during this week’s edition of Talking Smack. Cesaro is said to have suffered a cervical strain due to an attack at the hands of Seth Rollins during this week’s SmackDown. Cesaro defeated Rollins in their match via disqualification when Rollins used a chair, with Rollins attacking Cesaro after the match ended. There is no word on how long Cesaro will be out of action. It was a brutal one. Three Names Added To Money In The Bank Ladder Matches, One Removed

Keep them coming. We are less than two weeks away from Money in the Bank and this year’s edition promises to be one of the biggest in the show’s history. As usual the show will be focused around the men’s and women’s namesake matches, both of which will feature eight wrestlers. That means a lot of spots need to be filled and now even more have been covered. Three more names were added to the Money in the Bank ladder matches this week on SmackDown, along with one being removed. In men’s qualifying matches, Seth Rollins defeated Cesaro and King Nakamura defeated Baron Corbin, making them the final two entrants into the ladder match. In addition, Liv Morgan was added to the women’s match to replace Carmella, who will be replacing Bayley in a SmackDown Women’s Title match against Bianca Belair. There are two SmackDown spots open in the women’s match. It was a busy night. Check out how the new names were added: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click ..

New NXT Wrestlers Get Dark Match Tryouts Before SmackDown

Keep them moving. NXT has a weird role to play in the wrestling world as not only does it have its own television to worry about, but it also has to help create the next WWE stars of the future. That is a lot easier said than done, but it can be interesting to see an NXT star move up to the main roster. Now we might have an idea of some other names getting the chance to move up. According to PWInsider.com, NXT wrestlers worked more dark matches before this week’s edition of SmackDown. There were three matches this week, including: Shotzi Blackheart vs. Tony Storm Odyssey Jones vs. Robert Roode Karrion Kross vs. Cesaro This is the second time that Blackheart has worked a SmackDown dark match and the third for Kross. These matches are part of an effort by WWE to find talent ready to move up to potentially move up to the main roster later this year. While it has not been confirmed, the moves are rumored to be part of the 2021 WWE Draft, which will be held in the fall. There is some tal..

WWE RUMOR: Dream Match Planned For Summerslam

You need to start fresh. Summerslam is coming up in about two months and this time around, the show is going to be even bigger than usual. With WWE just coming out of the Coronavirus situation and fans being allowed back on a big scale, it is time to start putting together a major card. WWE is already on that, and now they might have a pretty cool match planned. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE is planning to have Set Rollins face Edge at Summerslam. The match has not yet been set up, though Edge has been advertised to return to WWE TV on the July 16 SmackDown. This will be Edge’s first appearance since he lost in the main event of WrestleMania 37. Rollins has recently been feuding with Cesaro, who he defeated at Hell In A Cell. This would be the first time Edge and Rollins have ever faced each other one on one. Edge came out of retirement at the 2020 Royal Rumble following nearly nine years away from the ring. He would enter a feud with Randy Orton, defeating him a..

Another WrestleMania Rematch Set For Hell In A Cell

The card continues to grow. We are less than two days away from WWE’s next pay per view with Hell In A Cell. The show is centered around the namesakes structure but there is a little bit more to the card than that. In addition to the matches taking place inside the Cell, there is also a collection of matches to fill out the show. WWE has added another match to the card. This week on SmackDown, WWE confirmed that Seth Rollins will face Cesaro at Hell In A Cell. The match has been teased for several weeks now, with Rollins attacking Cesaro to put him out of action. Cesaro returned last week and attacked Rollins while also ripping off his suit. The match was announced this week, with Cesaro shoving Rollins down during a backstage interview. Cesaro previously defeated Rollins at WrestleMania 37 in April. The two have been feuding for a long time now. Check out how we got here: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains vid..

LOOK: Seth Rollins Does Something Cool For A Young Girl

That’s just nice. Wrestlers are a weird breed as they are supposed to be able to maintain their characters on television as well as outside of the ring. That is in theory at least, as you do not see wrestlers keeping up the aura of kayfabe outside of the arena very often. While that might go against tradition, there are some instances where it can be rather nice, which was the case earlier this week. Earlier this week, WWE star Seth Rollins was photographed buying lemonade from a girl’s lemonade stand. The girl’s father posted the image to Facebook, saying that Rollins appeared at random to buy some lemonade. The father lives in Davenport, Iowa, which is the same city where Rollins is billed from in WWE. Rollins has been feuding with Cesaro on SmackDown in recent week. This was pretty cool.
