WWE Breaks All-Time Gate Record For WrestleMania 39

People are excited. WWE issued a press release today, stating that they have broken the company’s all-time gate record for any WrestleMania, despite having yet to announce a single match. The previous record announced was $17.3 million in 2016 at WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. From the press release: The record gate comes on the heels of unprecedented ticket sales demand for WWE in 2022, in which it produced the highest-grossing gates of all-time for Royal Rumble, Survivor Series and Extreme Rules. Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales, which marked WWE’s first major stadium show in the U.K. in 30 years, was the highest-grossing U.K. event in company history. Additionally, WWE set in-market gate records for SmackDown and Raw events in more than 20 markets for the year, including the December 30 SmackDown, which took place in Tampa, Fla. and heralded the return of WWE Superstar John Cena. Limited single and two-day combo tickets for WrestleMania Goes Hollywood ..

New Title Match Set For WWE Clash At The Castle With Surprising Challenger

She’s up next. WWE has been expanding its slate of large scale shows in stadiums, meaning there are multiple events that need big time cards. The most common way to do this is with championship matches and there are several to pick from at any given point in WWE. Another of those was added to the lineup this week, as a new championship match was set for an upcoming major event. This week on SmackDown, Shayna Baszler won a gauntlet match to become the new #1 contender to the SmackDown Women’s Title. The match featured seven women, with Baszler last eliminating Raquel Rodriguez. Baszler will receive her title shot against champion Liv Morgan at Clash At The Castle in Cardiff, Wales on September 3. This will be Baszler’s first televised shot at a singles title since Money In The Bank 2020. Opinion: I have long since wondered how Baszler never won a singles title in WWE. While she had the great run as NXT Women’s Champion, nothing ever happened on the main roster for some reason. Hopeful..

WRESTLING RUMORS: AEW And NXT May Be Going Head To Head Again

Call it a scheduling conflict? There are a lot of wrestling promotions in the world today but only a handful are at the top level. WWE and AEW are at the top of the list and the two are in combat for dominance in the United States. They went head to head for a good while under the Wednesday Night Wars, and now they might be going at it again for one day only later this year. AEW has announced that its next pay per view, All Out, will be taking place on Sunday September 4. According to Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston, the next NXT special will take place on the same day and air on Peacock. It is not clear if the shows will take place at the same time. This is one day after WWE presents Clash At The Castle in Cardiff, Wales, though it is not clear where the NXT event would take place. Opinion: It would not surprise me whatsoever to see these shows overlap because both companies seem to like to try something like this. It’s rather annoying for fans who want to watch both, but why go wit..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Another World Champion In Talks To Return To WWE

Another kind of champion. Wrestling has been around for a long time now and there is a history of other athletes coming in to see what they can do in the sport. That is the kind of thing that can make for some interesting moments as other athletes get to try their hand at something else. It has worked for a very long time now and we might be getting to see it again on a big stage. According to GiveMeSport, boxing Heavyweight Champion of the World Tyson Fury is in talks with WWE to return to the company later this year. The appearance, which may or may not be a match, would tie in with WWE’s Clash At The Castle in Cardiff, Wales on September 3. There is no word on what Fury will be doing on the show. Fury previously wrestled a match at Crown Jewel 2019, defeating Braun Strowman via countout. Opinion: This is the kind of appearance that makes sense and it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Fury get back in the ring. Fury is at the point where he can do what he wants and if that include..

Well Done: Upcoming WWE Event Likely To Set An All Time Record

Records are made to be broken. WWE has been running major events for a very long time now and that will continue to be the case for several years to come. After nearly forty years of pay per view events, WWE is running out of ideas, but there are still some things that they have not done very often. This includes not running many outside of the United States, though that will change this year, and in a record setting way. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, September’s Clash At The Castle event in Cardiff, Wales has sold about 40,000 tickets so far. A sellout of the stadium will be about 69,000 fans and if that takes place, as it should, the event will be the largest non-WrestleMania gate in wrestling history, as well as beating most WrestleManias. No matches have been announced for the card so far. Opinion: This is one of those things that WWE can do like no one else, as they are basically getting a WrestleMania sized event for a show that probably won’t be anywhere clos..

Hang On: Possible Reason For WrestleMania Backlash Match Change

It might be a little while. The main event of WrestleMania 38 saw Roman Reigns defeat Brock Lesnar to unify the WWE Title and the Universal Title. The win made Reigns even more of a dominant force in WWE and the question now is who could possibly defeat him. There are a few options out there, but it might be a little while before you see the title on the line again. This week on SmackDown, a six man tag was announced for WrestleMania Backlash. The match will see the Bloodline, comprised of Reigns and the Usos vs. RKBro and Drew McIntyre, meaning Reigns will not be defending his title. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is likely setting up McIntyre vs. Reigns in the next title match at an upcoming stadium show, possibly in Las Vegas for Summerslam or Cardiff, Wales for Clash At The Castle. Opinion: That is quite the stretch for time between title matches, assuming that Reigns doesn’t defend until July or September as might be the plan. While having one title over all of them ..

Boxing Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury May Be At WWE Summerslam (And More)

I think they’ll take him. Wrestlers get an unfair reputation when it comes to their athletic abilities. While it’s true that their matches are predetermined, they are still out there putting in the work and the effort every single night and that takes a lot of talent. It can help wrestling quite a bit when a mainstream athlete shows up and now that might be the case again soon. On Saturday, boxing’s Heavyweight Champion of the World Tyson Fury retained his title via knockout over Dillian Whyte. After the fight, Fury suggested that he was ready to retire from the sport and move on to something else. During the post fight media scrum, Fury mentioned that he might be appearing at Summerslam. Fury said that he had a great time when he appeared at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia and would love to be at the Cardiff, Wales event in September. Fury has wrestled a match for WWE before, defeating Braun Strowman via countout at Crown Jewel 2019. Opinion: Something tells me that WWE would be thrille..

BREAKING: WWE Returning To United Kingdom This Year In 78,000 Seat Stadium

They’re going international. WWE is the largest and most powerful wrestling company in the world, though the last part is not something they explore very often. The company has its regular events in Saudi Arabia, but there are several other places in the world that do not get to see a large scale WWE event. One of those areas will see a change of status later on this year. WWE has announced that it will be holding a major stadium event in Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on September 3, 2022. This will be the first major stadium event held in the United Kingdom since Summerslam 1992. There are no details on what the show will be called or anything involving the card. Principality Stadium holds approximately 78,000 people for a wrestling event. WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Running Major Event Over AEW All Out Weekend

Call it a scheduling issue? Wrestling has been put together in a similar fashion for a long time now. Most of the time, television shows have been designed to set up the bigger events down the line, often in the form of pay per views. Most major promotions in the world operate this way, but now we might be seeing two big shows taking place pretty close together. The WrestleVotes Twitter account is reporting that WWE will be returning to the United Kingdom for a pay per view on September 3 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. This is on the same weekend as AEW All Out 2022, though it is not clear when All Out will be taking place. This will be the first major WWE pay per view event in the United Kingdom since Summerslam 1992. Source states the long-awaited WWE United Kingdom PPV return will take place Saturday, September 3rd at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. That is the same weekend as AEW’s ‘All Out’ PPV. — WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) March 17, 2022 Opinion: This i..

REVIEW: Takeover: Cardiff: We Could Use Another One

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Takeover: Cardiff Date: August 31, 2019 Location: Motorpoint Arena Cardiff, Cardiff, Wales Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Vic Joseph It’s been a long time since we’ve had one of these things and that might be best. NXT UK is getting the hang of things but they’re still a long way away from being ready to do regular big time specials. This time around we have a big main event in the form of Tyler Bate challenging Walter for the United Kingdom Title. Let’s get to it. The opening video shows a shot of Cardiff but t..

Update On WWE Summerslam 2022 Taking Place In The United Kingdom

Maybe later? We are approaching the end of 2021 and that means it is time to start getting ready for the new year. WWE certainly has done that already and has some plans ready for 2022. While WrestleMania will get the most focus, there are several other shows worth looking at as well. That includes Summerslam, which has been rumored for some big plans but they might not be locked in just yet. Earlier this week, a story emerged saying that WWE was hoping to hold Summerslam 2022 in the United Kingdom, with Cardiff Wales’ Principality Stadium as the leading location candidate. However, according to Wrestling Observer Radio, the deal is far from complete and there is no guarantee that the show will take place in the United Kingdom. WWE has yet to announce anything about the show. The United Kingdom has sent WWE some great wrestling over the years. Another Sign WWE Is Getting Back To Normal

Back to normal? The Coronavirus pandemic has shaken up the wrestling world in a variety of ways, with the biggest change of them all being the lack of fans in attendance at events. It makes things feel all the less important and also changes the way the company’s finances work. Things have started to get back to normal though and now WWE has taken another big step back towards normal. WWE has announced a four city United Kingdom tour, taking place from September 19-22. The tour will be SmackDown exclusive and includes names such as Roman Reigns, the Usos, Big E., Bianca Belair, Bayley and Sasha Banks. Assuming she does not appear before then, this would be Belair’s first appearance since the April 16 edition of SmackDown. The tour will include the following events: Newcastle – Utilita Arena (Sunday, September 19, 2021) London – The O2 (Monday, September 20, 2021) Cardiff – Motorpoint Arena (Tuesday, September 21, 2021) Glasgow – The SSE Hydro (Wednesday, September 22, 2021) WWE has b..

Seth Rollins Comments On Being In The Ring With The Undertaker

<p>Seth Rollins recently spoke with Bandwaggon.asia. here are some highlights from the interview:</p><p><strong>What was the experience like being in the ring with </strong><strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/the-undertaker" title="The Undertaker">The Undertaker</a></strong>?</p><p><em>“Yeah, I got into step into the ring with the Undertaker one time before he retired – it was a six-man tag match on Monday Night RAW in London. It was one of those nights I didn’t really get to fully grasp what we were doing. We had a show earlier in the day in Cardiff, Wales – and we took a helicopter to London! I had to basically get right into the ring and have a second match within a few hours.</em></p><p><em>“It was against Undertaker, Daniel Bryan and <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/kane" title="Kane">Kane</a></strong> though – so it was a tremendous experience. I remember looking across the ring at one point, locking eyes with a dead man – someone who’s an absolute legend, first ballot Hall-Of-Famer, one of the most incredible performers in the history of our industry. To share a ring with him is very surreal, especially considering our age difference.</em></p><p><em>“At some point, you’d consider that he’d be retired before you’d get the chance to be in the ring with him, but that’s just a testament to how he took care of himself and how physically forward-thinking he was in keeping himself healthy that late in his career.”</em></p><p><strong>I think that brings me to your current song, which is called ‘The Second Coming’. You’ve been using it for about two to three years now. How is it fitting with you?</strong></p><p><em>“Yeah I love it. It’s one of those where soon as the riff kicks in, everyone knows who’s coming through the curtains. That’s all that really matters when you’re picking an entrance theme. It fits my character. Though it was really weird adjusting to it at first because the pace of it is different from The Shield music, so y’know, trying to get the timing down on the entrance and making it feel like my own song took a little while.</em></p><p><em>“But now I’ve had so many moments with that music playing behind me or in front me – it’s become mine. People ask me “oh you’re gonna change your song, you’re gonna do this, you’re gonna do that” – I think that one’s sticking for a long time. I like guys who had the same entrance theme forever and ever – like Stone Cold, <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/chris-jericho" title="Chris Jericho">Chris Jericho</a></strong>, the Big Show – I think that’s always a really cool thing when guys have the same song for a really long time.”</em></p><p>You can check out the full interview <a href="https://www.bandwagon.asia/articles/from-tyler-black-to-seth-rollins-the-wwe-superstar-theme-songs" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>
