Pick Your Side: Wrestling Legend Offers Controversial Take On Bloodline vs. Elite

That’s some high praise. The introduction of AEW into the wrestling world has changed quite a few things, as now a new batch of wrestlers with their own style has been brought into the landscape. That can cause a lot of changes for fans as they might not have seen most of the new names before. One such group of wrestlers has caught the eye of a legend, who has quite the take on them. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Hulk Hogan Endorses Surprise Names For WWE Hall Of Fame During an appearance on the Cafe de Rene podcast, AEW’s Jake Roberts said that he believes the Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) are better than the Bloodline’s Roman Reigns and the Usos. Roberts described Omega as “f****** unbelievable” and said that while he doesn’t like some of the stuff the Young Bucks do, “they’re doing it and getting away with it”. Those are some talented stars. AEW Rampage Results – February 24, 2023

Rampage Date: February 24, 2023 Location: Footprint Center, Phoenix, Arizona Commentators: Jim Ross, Chris Jericho, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone We’re still in the desert and Rampage is still searching for a more viable formula. I’m not sure why AEW seems to punt on this show so often but it does produce some enjoyable results. If you can get by without the star power after the first match, you should be in for a fun one and hopefully that is true this week. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Aussie Open vs. Young Bucks Kenny Omega is here with the Bucks. The Aussies deck the Bucks to start and isolate Matt for a kick to the chest and backsplash. Matt manages to backflip away from both of them and brings in Nick to walk the ropes into a wristdrag/headscissors combination. The Bucks clear the ring but the bigger Davis comes back in to slam them both at the same time. Nick’s pop up dropkick sends Davis to the floor though and Matt grabs a running flipping neckbreaker to send Fletcher int..

All For One? More Details On WWE’s Interest In Signing Kenny Omega

It’s a little complicated. The rise of AEW has changed a lot of things in the wrestling world, as there is now another large scale wrestling promotion where stars can go. That is the kind of thing that has been lacking in wrestling for a very long time now but things can go in the opposite way too. Wrestlers are going to leave AEW at some point and now we have some more details about that possibly taking place. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Discusses Introducing New Star For Major NXT Angle The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has more details on WWE’s interest in signing Kenny Omega. While Omega signed a four year deal with AEW on February 1, 2019, there is a chance his deal was extended due to missing nine months with various injuries. If AEW adds on the full amount of time that Omega missed, he would not be able to begin negotiations with WWE, or any other promotion, until November. Omega and the Young Bucks are all represented by Barry Bloom and the feeling is they w..

AEW Rampage Results – February 3, 2023

Rampage Date: February 3, 2023 Location: Nutter Center, Dayton, Ohio Commentators: Chris Jericho, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur Rampage continues to be a bit all over the place as you know most of the card/lineup in advance but it still feels like a show that could go in a bunch of different directions. That could be the case again this week as there is some star power with the Elite around to defend the Trios Titles. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Trios Titles: Elite vs. Isiah Kassidy/Matt Hardy/Ethan Page The Elite is defending and for the sake of simplicity, Matt Hardy will be referred to as Hardy and Matt Jackson will be referred to as Matt. Nick Jackson and Kassidy trade some flips and takedowns to start before Matt comes in to take over. Kassidy gets over to Hardy for the tag, so Omega gets the overly dramatic tag. Hardy sends Omega outside and goes up but Page tags himself in to take over instead. Omega snaps off a hurricanrana and it’s the Bucks coming back in for..

Keep Them? Top AEW Stars Reportedly Set To Negotiate New Deals

Stick around? The AEW roster has done the company a lot of good over the years and a lot of its success has been built around the collection of wrestlers. There are several who have been added over the years but some of them have been around since the beginning. At some point, AEW has to figure out who they want to keep around though and now they are needing to do just that with two originals. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: LOOK: WWE, AEW And New Japan Stars Recreate Classic Photo This Week According to Fightful Select, the Young Bucks’ contracts with AEW are coming up and the two sides have yet to come to a new deal. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, negotiations between the two sides have not yet begun but AEW wants to “lock them in” with multi year deals as soon as possible. Negotiations between the two are expected to begin soon. The Bucks have been around for a bit. Big Fans: Wendy’s Has A Prediction For AEW Best Of Seven Series

They have a fan. AEW has come a long way in just a few years’ time. The company was only announced at the beginning of 2019 and debuted later in the year, but is now the second biggest wrestling promotion in the United States. That is quite the impact, and it seems that they have gotten the attention of a rather large restaurant chain with a sense of humor. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Still Elite: Update On Kenny Omega’s AEW Contract The latest edition of Being The Elite features AEW stars the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega (the Elite) drinking from Wendy’s cups. The Wendy’s Twitter account then sent out an image saying that Wendy’s is now All Elite. Wendy’s went on to say that their burgers are squares, and squares have four sides, while triangles have three, meaning they picked the Elite to defeat the Death Triangle 4-3. This comes as the Elite and the Death Triangle are in the middle of a best of seven series for the AEW Trios Titles, with the Elite currently down 3-1. The Wendy’s account..

REVIEW: ROH Best In The World 2018: They’re Not Far Off

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Best in the World 2018 Date: June 29, 2018 Location: UMBC Event Center, Cantonsville, Maryland Commentators: Colt Cabana, Ian Riccaboni It’s pay per view time and even though I’ve already seen the next TV show, none of that matters as we have a few weeks to spare because of Ring of Honor’s wacky TV schedule. The main event here is a triple threat between World Champion Dalton Castle, Cody and Marty Scurll but the real highlight should be the Young Bucks challenging the Briscoes for the Tag Team Titles..

They’re Ready: Backstage Details On Elite’s AEW Return

It’s a big deal. There are certain names in AEW who have been treated as top stars since the company debuted. It means a lot to present those wrestlers as important no matter what they are doing, which can include some special moments. Now we are ready for a special moment later this week, and we know a lot more about what has been going on to set it up. This week on AEW Dynamite, a Trios Titles match was announced for Full Gear, with Death Triangle defending against the Elite’s Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks. This will be the Elite’s first appearance since the post All Out brawl with CM Punk and Ace Steele. According to Fightful Select, the Young Bucks were backstage at this week’s Dynamite but there was never a plan for any of the team’s members to appear on camera before Full Gear. In addition, Omega’s manager Don Callis was backstage as well and is expected to join Omega when he returns at Full Gear. The team can do a lot when they are around. Check out what they are capable of ..

Pair Of Update On The Elite Returning To AEW In Some Fashion

Almost done? There have been very few wrestling stories this year that have been discussed as extensively as the post AEW All Out brawl between CM Punk/Ace Steel and the Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks). The issue resulted in several suspensions as well as Steel being released from the company. While the main players have yet to return, we have gotten something of an update from AEW itself. According to Fightful Select, the Elite may be set to return in at least a backstage capacity very soon, though there is no word on when the three may return to AEW TV. However, this week on AEW Dynamite, a vignette aired talking about the trio’s success in AEW. During the vignette though, the three of them began disappearing from the images, suggesting that they were being erased. It is not clear what this means for their future. Opinion: Your tastes may vary on the Elite but there is no denying that they have been a big deal in AEW since the company was founded. It makes sense to have the..

Kenny Omega And The Young Bucks Could Be Gone From AEW For A Long Time

It could be a little while. Following AEW All Out and its media scrum on September 4, a huge brawl broke out between CM Punk, Ace Steel and Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks (the Elite). The issues came from statements that Punk had made, accusing the Elite of planting stories about him which he says are untrue. The end result was everyone being suspended and now we are waiting on their returns. It turns out we might be waiting longer than expected. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Elite has not heard anything back from AEW about their suspensions. The company is not planning to make any public announcements about the situation and has not addressed it on AEW TV. There is a chance that legal issues are holding up the situation, along with a possible “second hold up” of unknown details. There is no word on when the Elite will be back on AEW TV, but Punk is expected to miss around eight months after tearing his tricep. Opinion: This is a situation that is going to take..

KB’s Review: All Elite Isn’t All Elite

After this year’s All Out, CM Punk went ballistic during a media scrum, bashing a lot of people on the roster, including the company’s Executive Vice Presidents, better known as the Elite (for the sake of clarification, I’ll only be referring to Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks when I mention the Elite). Following the media scrum, there was a huge fight between Punk, Ace Steel and the Elite which has resulted in pretty much everyone involved being suspended. It isn’t clear when those people are going to be back and that is what we are looking at this time around. Now before you panic, no, we aren’t talking about the media scrum comments or the brawl, because those topics have been driven so hard into the ground that I’m expecting them to wind up on Impact Wrestling sooner than later. Everything that we know or have speculated about those incidents has been covered to death so we’ll move on to something a little more practical. This week saw AEW’s Grand Slam events, held in Arthur Ashe..

How The AEW Locker Room Views The Young Bucks After All Out Brawl

They are some of the people who matter. One of the biggest wrestling stories of the year remains the backstage brawl after AEW All Out. A group of wrestlers including CM Punk and the Elite got in a huge fight, resulting in several suspensions. It also suggested quite the divide backstage in AEW, but now we might know a bit more about whose side seems to be more popular. According to a Pro Wrestling Torch audio show, the Young Bucks are mostly seen as good guys backstage in AEW. This includes wrestlers feeling like Punk should not have spoken about them as he did at the All Out media scrum. While the Bucks are seen as passive aggressive, they are not seen as “abrasive personalities”. The Bucks, along with Punk and Kenny Omega, remain indefinitely suspended from AEW. Opinion: This is an interesting take and the kind of thing that do not get to see from this side of the curtain. The Bucks were in on the ground floor with AEW and that is going to get them a biggest status than others. At..

Important Note On Suspended AEW Wrestlers

It’s a bonus punishment. AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works and that has been a good thing for fans. While AEW is a major promotion on the biggest stage, it also allows its wrestlers to work independent shows, allowing fans to see mainstream talent on smaller stages. That is a rather cool thing, but it is not going to be the case for some of those wrestlers for the time being. Earlier this month, a backstage brawl took place after AEW All Out, resulting in several suspensions. It is not clear when the wrestlers will be back, as AEW is still conducting an investigation. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the suspended wrestlers are not allowed to work independent dates while they are away from AEW. CM Punk, the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega are currently suspended, though Punk is unable to wrestle as he is recovering from tricep surgery. Opinion: They really didn’t have a choice here as you can’t have wrestlers suspended from AEW and getting to wrestle elsewh..

WATCH: The Rock Producing New Wrestling Documentary Series (TRAILER)

That’s a new twist. Wrestling media has been changing a lot in recent years as more and more stories have been presented in one way or another. This has come in the form of books, films and television series, many of which are telling stories that have not been heard in a long time. Now we are in for another one which certainly sounds like it has some promise. According to Variety, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions will be producing a new wrestling documentary series called Tales From The Territories. The series will be from the same team that made Dark Side Of The Ring and will focus on stories from the territory days of wrestling. There is no word on what any episodes will cover. The series will debut on October 4 at 10PM EST on VICE TV. This has potential. Check out the trailer for the series: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is something that has some serious potential as Dark Side Of The Ring was a great series. I’m cur..

AEW’s All Out Card Might Look A Little Different Than You Were Expecting

That might be an issue. There are a lot of very talented wrestlers on the AEW roster and a lot of them have been put together into a variety of matches. Some of those matches have developed into quite the series of rivalries, including some for championships. It seemed that we were coming up on another one in the near future but now that might not be the case anymore. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plan for next month’s AEW All Out would have seen the Young Bucks vs. FTR in a winner take all match for the AEW, IWGP, AAA and Ring Of Honor Tag Team Titles. However, now the plan seems to have changed to the Young Bucks going after the newly formed Trios Titles, possibly with the returning Kenny Omega as their partner. AEW reportedly feels that the Bucks in the Trios Title match has a potential to bring in more money than the Bucks vs. FTR, which still may take place down the line. Opinion: This is one of those things that can be annoying, as FTR vs. the Buc..

They’re Done: Top AEW Stable Has Violent Split This Week On Dynamite

That’s going to be a big one. AEW has been around for a few years now and the company has built up a rather deep roster in its existence. This involves a group of wrestlers who have been around the world with all kinds of success. That includes wrestlers being paired together in different units, but now one of those groups has fallen apart in a pretty violent way. This week’s AEW Dynamite featured the return of the Undisputed Elite, including Adam Cole. During his speech, Cole revealed that he was injured and unable to participate in the upcoming Trios Titles tournament. Cole also said that fellow Undisputed Elite members the Young Bucks would be unable to participate as well because they would be physically unable. This caused Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly to attack the bucks, with Hangman Page having to make the save. Page did not embrace the Bucks and left without them. Opinion: This feels like something that is designed to set up the return of Kenny Omega, but if that is not the c..

That Could Be Serious: AEW Star Suffers Neck Stinger On Dynamite

They did it again. Wrestling is a rather dangerous sport no matter how it is presented. The amount of time in the ring, training and experience that someone has does not make someone immune from an injury and it can happen at any time. There are injuries that are built up over time and there are injuries that take place all at once. The latter was the case this week. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks suffered a stinger during the main event of this week’s edition of Dynamite. The match was a triple threat with the Young Bucks defending the AEW Tag Team Titles against Keith Lee/Swerve Strickland and Team Taz. Early in the match, Lee and Powerhouse Hobbs suplexed Jackson, resulting in him jarring his neck and causing him to wrestle slowly for the rest of the match. There was nothing wrong with the suplex, as Matt has a history of neck issues due to years of wear and tear. There is no word on how long he might be out of action, if at all. Opinion: Th..

WATCH: Keith Lee’s Emotional Speech After AEW Dynamite

A bittersweet moment. Wrestlers do a lot of things in front of the cameras and most of the time, it can be pretty entertaining. That leaves fans with quite a few things to see, often as part of a live crowd. You get to see all kinds of things when you go to a live television taping, some of which is done after the television cameras are turned off. That was the case again this week in a rather emotional moment. The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland win the Tag Team Titles from the Young Bucks in a three way match, also involving Team Taz. Following the win, Lee addressed the crowd, talking about how there are very few people he is close to in life. This includes a man named Lascelles King, who was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer earlier this week. Lee promised that he was returning home to Texas to visit King and that he wanted King to fight harder than theye did tonight. This was a very emotional moment. Check out Lee’s stat..

Hand Them Over: Surprise Title Change Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

There’s your history. AEW has not been around for very long when you think about it but they still have put together a rather nice history for themselves. A lot of this involves the titles that they have around and that makes for some rather important moments. Title changes can make all of the difference in the world for a wrestler and that was the case again this week. The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland win the AEW Tag Team Titles, defeating Team Taz and reigning champions the Young Bucks. Strickland pinned Ricky Stars with the Swerve Stomp to win the titles. The win marks the first title in the company for either Strickland or Lee and ends the Bucks’ record third reign. Opinion: They got me with the surprise title change here and that is a very nice thing to see. You don’t get that kind of a title switch very often and AEW made it work well here. The Bucks losing any kind of a match always feels like a major deal and that was t..

AEW Dynamite Results – July 13, 2022 (Fyter Fest Week One)

Dynamite Date: July 13, 2022 Location: Enmarket Arena, Savannah, Georgia Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz We’re on the way to Death Before Dishonor and thankfully the build for that show hasn’t taken everything over like the Forbidden Door stuff did. It’s the first of four Fyter Fest shows and the Tag Team Titles are on the line as the Young Bucks defend against Swerve Strickland/Keith Lee and Team Taz. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. TNT Title: Wardlow vs. Orange Cassidy Cassidy is challenging, with the Best Friends in his corner (complete with managers’ licenses). They go with the test of strength to start and Cassidy puts his hands in his pockets….which are torn off by Wardlow. Now Wardlow’s straps come down….with Cassidy putting them right back up. The Powerbomb Symphony is broken up and Cassidy snaps off a headscissors but comes up favoring his eye. The referee checks on him, allowing Chuck Taylor to whip out A CHAINSAW. Believe it or not, that’s enough for an e..
