REPORT: Injury Update for Cody Rhodes WWE Return Before Royal Rumble

Since the now infamous Hell in a Cell match between Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes back in June, the WWE Universe continues to wait for Cody’s return. All indications were that Cody would have been challenging Roman Reigns by SummerSlam. However, the torn pectoral muscle took him out of the game until next year. The general consensus on the rumor mill is that Cody Rhodes is expected back for the Royal Rumble in January. That’s about six months of recovery time for him. The expectation if that happens is that Cody would win the match and main event WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns. People are counting on that, but it’s been a minute since we had an update. Related: How Cody Rhodes Was Allowed To Wrestle At Hell In A Cell Brandi Rhodes, Cody’s wife, recently appeared on Steve Fall’s Ten Count and provided a health update heading into the end of the year. During the session, she described Cody’s progress as “really good” and told a few stories about him working with his physical thera..

Interesting Update On Stephanie McMahon’s WWE Future

That could mean something. There are a lot of people who come together to make WWE work. With so many people involved behind the scenes, it can mean quite a bit when something changes. However, there are a few names who mean more than almost anyone else and those people tend to have the name McMahon. Now we might know a little more about one of their futures. Last week, Stephanie McMahon announced that she would be taking a leave from her duties at WWE. While WWE President Nick Khan will be taking over her duties in the short term, he is not the long term solution. WWE has posted a job listing on their corporate website for Brand And Chief Marketing Director, who would take over several of McMahon’s former duties as Chief Branding Officer. There is no word on when McMahon will return to her job. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes me wonder what this is going to mean for WWE going forward. I’m curious to see if McMahon does return, but at the moment she is going to be repla..

Update On Brandi Rhodes’ Future In Wrestling

Her too? It can be very interesting to see a wrestler pop up in another company. They might be someone you haven’t seen in a long time or someone brand new, but either way, you know you are in for something different. This could be even more interesting if it is someone who has changed a lot while they are gone, and that might be the case again in the near future. Cody Rhodes made his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38, defeating Seth Rollins at the show and then opening the following night’s Monday Night Raw. According to Fightful Select, there have been discussions on bringing Cody’s wife Brandi Rhodes in to WWE. It is not clear how far these discussions have gone or whether Rhodes will have an in-ring role or not. Rhodes previously worked for WWE as a non-wrestling ring announcer named Eden Stiles. Opinion: I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brandi pop up somewhere in the future, though I don’t know if she is needed. If WWE wants Cody to be a top star, he really doesn’t need a valet or ..

You May Be Seeing Brandi Rhodes Back On TV (But Not On A Wrestling Show)

Guess who’s back? Wrestlers are very talented people as they have to try to do a lot of things at the same time. That can include having a match, but they also must convince you that what you are seeing is real. It becomes harder and harder to do that with each passing year, but sometimes a wrestler gets to show you something else. That might be the case again soon on a bigger scale. According to Deadline.com, former AEW star Brandi Rhodes has reached a deal with DIGA Studios to help bring her YouTube series A Shot Of Brandi to television. The show features Rhodes in her kitchen talking to celebrities or wrestlers while cooking something. DIGA is planning on shopping the series around to various television networks in a thirty minute format, though there is no word on any network picking up the series so far. Rhodes began the series on her own YouTube channel in 2018. Opinion: If this is something that works out for Rhodes and is something that she wants to do, good for her. You don’..

WWE Rebranding Even More Upcoming Events

That’s what’s in a name. WWE has been around for a long time now and has some very long running shows. Some of these are among the most famous in wrestling, with names such as WrestleMania and Royal Rumble being near or at the top of the list. The company continues to add some more though, and now they are doing just that with a show a lot of people will probably never see. Ticketmaster.com is currently advertising the May 1 live event in Fairfax, Virginia as Sunday Stunner, which is a name the company trademarked earlier this month. This is likely to be the name of several Sunday night live events going forward. The change comes just after WWE began promoting some of its Saturday shows as Saturday Night’s Main Event, though neither change has been announced on WWE television. Opinion: Sure why not. This is one of those changes that likely won’t mean anything significant and is little more than a branding, but it does at least sound like something interesting. I could go for having s..

Surprising Backstage Reaction To Brandi Rhodes Leaving AEW

Fare thee unwell? The biggest wrestling story of the week has been the announcement that Cody and Brandi Rhodes have left AEW. This was quite the shakeup, as Cody was one of the founders of the company and Brandi had been treated as a big deal throughout AEW’s existence. The pair are now gone though, and that has made for some surprising reactions from some people in AEW. According to Bryan Alvarez on the Wrestling Observer forum, by way of Wrestlingnews.co, several people backstage in AEW were happy that Brandi has left the company. While there were some names who have been supportive of Brandi after her departure, the majority are said to be happy that she is gone. There were no names mentioned as being happy or sad about Brandi leaving. Opinion: I don’t know how well Brandi was received backstage but this does not seem to paint her in the most positive light. Brandi is good at what she does when she gets in front of a camera, but that does not mean it plays well backstage. I’m not..

Important Detail On Cody And Brandi Rhodes’ Wrestling Future

Not so fast? There have been some big wrestling stories over the course of the week, but perhaps the most surprising has been Cody and Brandi Rhodes leaving AEW. Cody helped found the company and Brandi was an executive, but now both of them are out the door. This has led to some speculation about where they are heading, but we might know a bit more about one of them. According to Sports Illustrated, Brandi will not be joining Cody in WWE, assuming Cody goes there as well. There is no word on where Brandi will go, or if she will continue to wrestle elsewhere. Brandi served as a ring announcer during her time in WWE, under the name of Eden Stiles, though she never wrestled a match for the company. Cody has been in talks to make a WWE return but nothing has been made official. Opinion: I’m not sure if this is the biggest surprise, as while Brandi has been in WWE, she was never a character or anything more than a ring announcer. Now that she has become a television character and a wrest..

More Details On Cody/Brandi Rhodes Leaving AEW, Possible WWE Return

Welcome back? The biggest wrestling news of the week has been the departure of Cody and Brandi Rhodes from AEW. The move came out of nowhere as Cody is one of the company’s founding fathers. Now that the two have left though, the question becomes where they might be heading next. It seems like we might have an idea and odds are you are not going to be surprised. According to PWInsider.com, WWE has had discussions with the Rhodes family and the two sides are close to coming to an agreement. While there has been no agreement made, it is expected that Cody could be at the Performance Center as early as this weekend to prepare for a quick return. This has led to excitement backstage in WWE as Cody would be expected to have knowledge of the inner workings of AEW, which could help WWE’s strategy. In addition, according to Fightful Select, the Rhodes family and AEW may have split over financial issues. The two sides met last week with Cody wanting to sign a “big” money deal but the two side..

BREAKING: Cody And Brandi Rhodes Leaving AEW

Fare thee well? AEW has only been around for a few years now but the company has made some amazing strides in such a little time. The company has gone from an idea to the second biggest wrestling company in the world. That is not something you see take place very often and a lot of its progress is due to a core group of names. However, some of those names might not be around any longer. As announced on their Twitter accounts, Cody, the reigning TNT Champion, and Brandi Rhodes have announced that they are leaving AEW. Cody and Brandi have both posted messages thanking several members of the AEW roster and people who work backstage though he does not give a reason for the departure. AEW President Tony Khan has also posted a message thanking them for their time and efforts in the company. WATCH: Former UFC Star Makes Surprising AEW Return

That could be a success. There is a long history of mainstream athletes crossing over into wrestling. Some of them have made full on careers out of the move while others only pop in for a little while. Mixed martial artists have had a nice bit of success in wrestling, with names like Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey at the top of the list. Now we might be seeing another one trying her hand at wrestling. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured an argument between Dam Lambert and Brandi Rhodes. Lambert said that he would not lay a hand on Rhodes, but he knew someone who would. This brought out Paige VanZant, who got in a pull apart brawl with Rhodes. VanZant had made some appearances with Lambert as part of his American Top Team mixed martial artists. There is no word on when or if VanZant will be wrestling a match. It was a busy night. Check out how the return and brawl went down: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is something that could be interesting, as Va..

Maybe Not: Conflicting Reports On Two Stars Leaving Impact Wrestling

Not so fast? The wrestling world has been changing at a rapid pace over the last few years and those changes seem to be continuing into the new year. That can make for some interesting moves, as it can be fascinating to see wrestlers jump from one promotion to the other. It seems to have happened again twice, but one of the wrestlers has something to say about that. According to PWInsider.com, Kimber Lee and Brandi Lauren have both left Impact Wrestling. This comes after a segment on the December 30 edition of Impact Wrestling when Su Yung fed their souls to her unborn baby. Neither Lee nor Lauren have appeared since the segment aired. Lee has responded to the report, saying that she is still signed to Impact Wrestling. Nope…. Still signed. ?????? https://t.co/dlFJ5tJ6rB — Kimber Lee ? (@Kimber_Lee90) January 8, 2022 Ummmmmm no….. WRESTLING RUMORS: Elias Was Almost Brought Back Like Randy Savage

That could be a different way to go. The right character can be everything for a wrestler, but the wrong one can be much worse. If something doesn’t click, it can drag a talented wrestler down in a hurry. It can take a lot of tries to make it work right and sometimes you don’t see everything that a wrestler tries. That is the case again, but what might have been sounds fascinating. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE had no long term plans for Elias’ segments in a graveyard and merely wanted to find a way to get rid of his previous character. WWE’s next idea for him would see him with colorful trunks but Vince McMahon felt that it was too similar to Randy Savage and dropped it. There is no word on what WWE plans to do with Elias or when he will be returning to television. Interesting note on Elias, source states they had no end plan for graveyard vignettes. Just shot them to kill off the “music” gimmick. His initial rebranding weeks back looked to similar to Randy Sava..

Update On The Contract Statuses Of AEW’s Top Stars

Stick around for a bit. While it has made quite the impact on the wrestling industry, the reality is that AEW has not been around very long. The company has only been active for a few years now, which means they do not have the longest history. They have yet to have to deal with some of their bigger names leaving, though now it seems that might continue to be the case even longer. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the core of AEW’s roster signed three year deals, effective January 1, 2019. Those deals will expire on December 31, 2021, though Tony Khan will have an option to extend them for two more years. The Young Bucks’ option has already been exercised and wrestlers such as Kenny Omega, Cody and Brandi Rhodes, Chris Jericho and Hangman Page have similar deals. There is nothing to suggest that any of them will be leaving AEW anytime soon. Those are some important names. Check out who will likely be sticking around AEW: [This post contains video, click to play] [Thi..

WATCH: AEW Busts Out Flaming Table In Hot Ending To Dynamite

That’s a hot one for AEW. There are certain spots in wrestling that you do not see very often, which means they are going to have an even bigger impact. You can’t bust them out very often as it would take away their special feeling, but when they are there, they work in a big way. That was supposed to be the case again this week, but things did not exactly turn out as planned. The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Cody Rhodes face Andrade El Idolo in an Atlanta street fight. Near the end of the match, the two of them were on the top rope when Cody’s wife Brandi Rhodes made a surprise return and lit a table on fire. Cody superplexed El Idolo through the table and pinned him, with Cody’s arm on fire during the cover. It was a heck of a crash. VIDEO: Surprise Return Takes Place During AEW Dynamite

Welcome back. There are a lot of people on the AEW roster and it can be fascinating to see what some of them do. Some of them do not get to make that many appearances, which can make for a rather cool moment when someone comes back. If that comes after an even longer absence than usual, it can be even better. One such return took place this week. This week’s AEW Dynamite featured the surprise return of Brandi Rhodes, who has been missing for several months due to maternity leave. Rhodes returned during the show’s main event between Cody Rhodes and Andrade El Idolo, lighting a table on fire so Cody could superplex El Idolo through it. There is no word on if Brandi will be wrestling again in the future. It’s been awhile. Check out the ending, plus some more of Brandi: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is a return that has been a long time in the making and Brandi is one of t..

More On Several Recent WWE Releases And Backstage Restructuring

They’re done too. WWE has been going through a lot of changes in recent months, with a lot of them being in front of the camera. There have been all kinds of releases from the roster, but several of them have been from the corporate side of things. WWE has undergone quite the restructuring, and now a lot more people are leaving over another change. As previously reported, WWE released several more backstage employees earlier this month. This included many members of Stephanie McMahon’s staff, including Laura Petrocelli, who has been praised by McMahon in the past. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, these cuts were made because McMahon’s Branding department is being merged with the Marketing department. There is no word on if WWE will be making any more releases as a result of the merger. McMahon has quite her own set of memorable moments. Check out what she has done in WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This pos..

Keep Going: Five More People Gone From WWE

They’re not done yet. There have been a lot of departures from WWE over the last two years and the trend continued this week with several more wrestlers being let go. These are the kind of moves that can change the way the company works, but they are not alone. In addition to letting wrestlers go, there are other people who now no longer work for WWE after this week. Five more backstage employees have departed WWE this week. WWE has announced that Chief Financial Officer Kristina Salen has left WWE, with Frank A. Riddick being announced as her replacement. According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, Salen was not liked in WWE and she was a reason why several finance department employees also left. Salen had been with the company since August 2020. In addition, according to Fightful Select, the following employees have also left WWE: Lauren Petrucelli (Vice President of Branding) John Stamatis (Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Sales Strategy) Laura Todd (Vice Preside..

Surprise Return Takes Place During This Week’s AEW Dynamite

Welcome back. Every now and then, a wrestler has to go away for one reason or another. That can make for some changes in storylines, but it can also lead to some cool moments when they finally get to come back. It is even better when someone comes back from a special occasion, and that is what took place this week with a surprise return during AEW Dynamite. During this week’s special Grand Slam edition of Dynamite, Brandi Rhodes made her return from maternity leave. She accompanied her husband Cody Rhodes to ringside during his match against Malakai Black. During the match, Brandi got in the ring and sat face to face with Black as he taunted Cody, who was down on the floor. Brandi had been away since late last year on maternity leave. 205 Live Results – August 27, 2021

205 Live Date: August 27, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Vic Joseph I think we can officially call this the new 205 Live, which is still not live and now has little to do with 205. Since it’s WWE though and it’s all about branding, expect them to keep the name because of the great history and pride associated with the low level, often forgotten former cruiserweight show. Let’s get to it. Grayson Waller vs. Andre Chase Drake Maverick joins commentary as Chase works on the arm to start. Maverick can’t pick out any potential breakout stars around here, which might be due to no one knowing who is actually on the roster. Waller fights up and sends him outside but stops to yell at Maverick, allowing Chase to get in a shot from behind. A high crossbody gives Waller two but Chase is back with a belly to back for his own near fall. Some shoulders to Waller’s banged up ribs keep him in trouble until he cuts off a shoulder with a knee ..
