So, you tuned into SmackDown on August 15, 2025, live from TD Garden in Boston? Sweet, ’cause it was a night full of twists, big moves, and teasers for Clash in...
Sights set. There are all kinds of talented wrestlers on the WWE roster but it can be difficult for all of them to find something to do. With that many people, even the amount of television time that WWE has is often not enough. Sometimes those wrestlers have to be grouped together, and that is what a certain manager is teasing again, with quite the array of names. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Let’s Get Rowdy: Update On Ronda Rousey’s WrestleMania 39 Status MVP has posted a photo to his Instagram, showing him backstage with Omos, the Street Profits and NXT’s Carmelo Hayes. The caption says that MVP is “backstage in Boston to talk to some people…” but does not say what they were talking about. This comes amid rumors of Hayes being called up to the main roster and possibly joining the Hurt Business, but those plans were never confirmed. Monday Night Raw Date: March 6, 2023 Location: TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Corey Graves We are less than a month away from Wrestlemania and tonight is going to be one of the bigger shows, as John Cena is back. There is a good chance that we get his Wrestlemania match set up this week, as he is running out of time. Other than that, we also get a face to face staredown between Logan Paul and Seth Rollins. Let’s get to it. The Bloodline (Paul Heyman, Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa) arrived earlier today, with Heyman reiterating Roman Reigns’ orders to deal with Sami Zayn. Now Zayn escaped on Friday, so he must be here in Boston tonight. Instead, Sikoa is going to solve the Kevin Owens problem tonight, and Jimmy will solve Zayn, whether Jey is here or not. Jimmy and Solo leave and Heyman calls Reigns. Kevin Owens vs. Solo Sikoa Owens jumps him before the bell but Sikoa fights back and we officially get going. Sikoa kicks away at him a few times and a right ha..
He’s back. There are very few stars in WWE history who have become the faces of the company. Those are the names that almost every fan can remember and it means a lot when those wrestlers get to do something. In some cases those moments can be pretty rare, but now we know when one of the biggest stars in all of WWE history will be returning to the company. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They’re Back: Update On Backstage Reaction To Recently Returned WWE Superstars WWE has sent fans an email announcing that John Cena will be returning to Monday Night Raw on March 6 in Boston, Massachusetts. There is no word on what Cena will be doing at the show. Cena last appeared on the December 30 edition of SmackDown when he and Kevin Owens defeated Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn. It is not clear when Cena’s next appearance will take place. Cena has been on Monday Night Raw over the years. Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Royal Rumble 2003 Date: January 19, 2003 Location: Fleet Center, Boston, Massachusetts Attendance: 15,338 Commentators: Michael Cole, Tazz, Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler This is a really odd entry in the series as the namesake match is being treated as secondary to almost everything else. Really, coming into this show, there’s a good argument to be made that Torrie Wilson vs. Dawn Marie is being treated as a bigger deal than the Rumble itself. Let’s get to it. The opening video is your standard montage of w..
Open the vault. WWE has been around for decades now and during their time, they have acquired several video libraries. As a result, WWE owns by far the biggest collection of wrestling footage in history with nothing coming close to it. This allows them to release almost anything they like whenever they choose, and now they are letting you see another match you have probably never seen before. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Farewell? Wrestling Legend: “I’m Getting Too Old For This S***” This week on The Bump, a never before released match between King Corbin and Roman Reigns was aired. The match took place following the February 28, 2022 SmackDown in Boston, Massachusetts. Corbin and his manager John Bradshaw Layfield did commentary from the Bump studios, along with hosts Matt Camp and Kayla Braxton. There is no word on if more unreleased matches will be shown on the Bump in the future. This is pretty cool stuff. Check out the match, plus some more from the two of them: [This post contains ..
It deserves some praise. WWE runs several events a year, some of which are among the biggest shows put on by any wrestling company in the world. It means a lot for a star to appear on one of those shows as there is great exposure than on almost any other platform. That is the case this week as well, and now we know just how big things were on a recent major event. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Ouch: Damage Ctrl Member’s Neck Issues May Be More Serious Than They Seem According to Fightful Select, WWE released an internal memo about the success of this year’s Survivor Series. Some of the highlights include: Viewership was up 46%, making it the more viewed Survivor Series on record. In-venue merchandise sales were the highest on record and up 20% over the 2021 Survivor Series. The live gate set records for both Survivor Series and any WWE event in Boston. WWE’s “fan enjoyment rating” saw a 48% increase over the 2021 event. The show was a blast. Check out some of the highlights: [This post co..
They were there too. WWE runs a lot of different events throughout the year and some of them are among the biggest that any wrestling promotion presents. The biggest of them all are usually saved for major venues as premium live events. Another of them was held over the weekend and there were several stars present. It turns out that there were some more who did not appear on the show. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That’s Better: New Report On WWE Backstage Morale Under New Regime WWE held its annual Survivor Series event over the weekend. The card featured five matches and less than thirty wrestlers in total. According to Fightful Select, Hit Row was brought in to Boston for Survivor Series but the trio did not appear on the show. There is no word on if WWE had them film additional material or do anything else while they were backstage at the event. Hit Row can offer a few things. Check out what they can do when they appear: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains ..
Survivor Series 2022 Date: November 26, 2022 Location: TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Wade Barrett It’s time for WarGames and no that still doesn’t feel right to say. We have a men’s and women’s version of the match here and that should make for a great core of the show. There are only five matches on the card but double WarGames is probably enough to carry things, especially with the Bloodline vs. Team Drew McIntyre as the likely headliner. Let’s get to it. The opening video is a five minute Ozzy Osborne music video, with Ozzy saying Welcome To WarGames at the end. Team Belair vs. Team Damage Ctrl Bianca Belair, Asuka, Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch, Mia Yim Bayley, Iyo Sky, Dakota Kai, Rhea Ripley, Nikki Cross If you’re not familiar, we have two teams of five, with each team sending in a person for dive minutes. After that, the team who won the advantage coming into the match (Damage Ctrl in this case) will send in its second w..
Rampage Date: November 11, 2022 Location: Agganis Arena, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur Well there’s no Mike Tyson this week so we’re already on a downgrade. The Full Gear Tournament continues this week and that means we’ll be getting to see what they have planned for the next round. Other than that, Jungle Boy is here for a challenge to Luchasaurus, which he announced on Dynamite instead of just making the challenge there for whatever reason. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here are Christian Cage and Luchasaurus to answer Jungle Boy’s challenge, which he wants to give in person. Cue Jungle Boy, who Christian thinks must be from Boston because he’s such a loser. Christian talks about how the two of them have beaten Jungle Boy multiple times and Jungle Boy says they have cost him everything. He is tired of the interference so at Full Gear, he’ll fight Luchasaurus inside a steel cage. Christian says but Jungle Boy better be glad that he ha..
Dynamite Date: November 9, 2022 Location: Aggaris Arena, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Tony Schiavone We are just over a week away from Full Gear and the card could use some help. So far the main matches are a four way for the Ring Of Honor World Title and MJF challenging Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title. Other than that we a few title matches and the finals of a tournament that hasn’t started yet. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Gunn Club/Swerve In Our Glory vs. FTR/Acclaimed Billy Gunn storms the ring before the bell but gets ejected for jumping Swerve. We settle down to Wheeler hammering on Swerve in the corner as the fans are rather pleased with the goings on. The good guys take turns on Swerve, including the scissoring from the Acclaimed, as everything breaks down, with the four villains getting punches rained down in the corner. We take a break and come back with Harwood suplexing his way out of trouble and avoiding a splash in the corner. The hot t..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Hell in a Cell 2016 Date: October 30, 2016 Location: TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton It’s the annual “scary” show as we have three matches inside the Cell. In this case we’ve got Rusev challenging Roman Reigns for the US Title, Kevin Owens defending the Raw World Title against Seth Rollins and, possibly, a main event of Charlotte going after Sasha Banks’ Women’s Title. If that’s true, it’s the biggest match in the history of women’s wrestling. Let’s get to it..
That would be a change. There are different ways to freshen up a star in wrestling and some of them are rather simple concepts. One of the best ways is to turn someone from bad to good or vice versa, as such a change can freshen someone up almost immediately. It changes everything around and can give a wrestler a different attitude. Now a top WWE star is interested in making such a switch. Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre appeared on NBC Boston’s The Ten Count podcast and discussed the possibility of a heel turn. McIntyre said that if he were to ever turn heel again, he would not want to be the angry big man again. Instead, McIntyre wants to educate himself on who he is and be more interested the second time around. McIntyre was speaking hypothetically and there is nothing to indicate that McIntyre will be turning anytime soon. Opinion: This is something that does seem to be a possibility down the line and it is something that could go well if that is what WWE decides to do. McIntyr..
Smackdown Date: July 22, 2022 Location: TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Pat McAfee, Michael Cole And then Vince McMahon retired from WWE and everything changed. This is one of those moments that you knew would happen in some way at some point but you can’t actually fathom it going down. On top of that, Brock Lesnar has reportedly walked out on the show and won’t be here, though maybe something can be salvaged. Let’s get to it. Here is Stephanie McMahon to get things going. She announces Vince’s retirement and the fans immediately go into a THANK YOU VINCE chant. Stephanie asks the fans to not get ahead of them her and says thank you Vince for everything. Here are the Street Profits to be all hyped up for their Tag Team Title shot at Summerslam. Cue Theory to remind us that he will be cashing in on Roman Reigns. That brings out the Usos, who don’t like Theory threatening Roman Reigns. The Usos says Montez Ford and his wife are leaving Summerslam with no titles and the ..
Flash from the past. WWE has been around for a very long time now and the company has a rather incredible history. Over time, there have been a lot of different periods and eras, some of which are a lot more famous than others. There have been some very famous ones though, and WWE seemed to be interested in bringing back something that likely would have only fit in one era. In a new interview with NBC Sports’ Boston Steve, former WWE star Killer Kross talked about an idea he had pitched to revive the Corporate Ministry. Kross felt that the idea would work due to nostalgia and said that there was a group of writers on board with the concept. The idea would have been to fictionalize the idea of cults and evil businesses and put them on television with nostalgia thrown in. There is nothing to suggest that the idea ever went past the planning stage. Opinion: I’m not sure I could imagine this working, as the Corporate Ministry is about as Attitude Era as you could get. While I get the ide..
Everyone has to start somewhere. There have been a lot of wrestlers to come through the WWE locker room over the years but only a few have stood out at the highest level. Those are the names that are remembered in a fond way for a long time to come, but even they might not have had the best time in the company. One such legend is talking about how badly things went for her at first. During an interview with NBC Sports Boston, WWE legend Victoria spoke about her beginnings with the company. Victoria began with WWE as one of Godfather’s Ho’s, despite having signed a full time contract with the company. When she started, she dressed in the women’s locker room but was thrown out by one of the other WWE stars, forcing her to dress in the janitor’s closet. This was due to the majority of the Godfather’s Ho’s being local strippers rather than full time wrestlers. Victoria went on to become a two time WWE Women’s Champion and spent over twenty years in the industry. Opinion: This is one of t..
See you sooner? There are a lot of wrestlers in WWE but some of them are bigger stars than others. You see a good number of them on a regular basis but some of the bigger stars are not around as often. That can make those moments feel all the more special and that is certainly the case with the biggest star in WWE today. Now you might be seeing him a little more frequently. One of the bigger WWE stories over the last few weeks has been Roman Reigns signing a new WWE contract which will allow him to only make appearances at major events and special shows. We now know that Reigns will be appearing at the July 22 SmackDown at the TD Garden in Boston and the July 26 Monday Night Raw in Madison Square Garden. There is no word on if Reigns will be appearing on camera or in a post show dark match. ? Updated event card for @WWE Smackdown on July 22, featuring @WWERomanReigns, @RondaRousey, @CodyRhodes, @FightOwensFight, @DMcIntyreWWE and more! Get tickets now: https://t.co/PSERLYEKcN #WWEBos..
Rampage Date: April 8, 2022 Location: Agganis Arena, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Excalibur, Tazz, Ricky Starks, Chris Jericho I don’t know why, but something tells me they are going to have a hard time following FTR vs. the Bucks from Dynamite. That being said, they are certainly amping up Rampage this week, as Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley will both be in action on the show. I’m thinking that’s enough to carry things so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Trent Beretta vs. Bryan Danielson William Regal is on commentary and it’s a feeling out process to start and they go to the mat. A shot to the face drops Danielson, who seems to get how things are going to go here. Danielson gets a boot up in the corner and grabs a guillotine choke, with Beretta suplexing his way to freedom. Beretta sends him outside but the switch places, only to have Danielson’s suicide dive pulled out of the air. Danielson sends him into the steps and we take a break. Back with Danielson suplexing him ..
Dynamite Date: April 6, 2022 Location: Agganis Arena, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross, Excalibur It’s pretty rare to have a lot of things going on when a company hasn’t had a major show, but that is the case this week. Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor event was basically AEW’s Wrestlemania weekend show and included the debut of Samoa Joe. He’ll be here tonight, and that means things could get a lot more interesting. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Adam Cole vs. Christian Cage They stare at each other for a bit until Christian grabs a headlock to grind away a bit. Cole breaks that up and sends him into the corner to take over. Christian knocks him outside though and it’s a baseball slide out to the floor. That means some chops up against the barricade but Christian’s foot gets caught in the ropes, allowing Cole to take over again. A hard whip into the corner rocks Christian and we take a break. Back with Christian knocking him to the floor again and..
