Welcome back. There are so many wrestlers on the WWE roster that it is almost impossible to keep all of them on television at the same time. At some point some of them have to go and that makes for some timely absences. It also sets up some nice returns down the line though, as you can get see someone come back, often in a surprise. That was the situation again this week in a big way. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s Special: Eric Bischoff Claims Brock Lesnar Has This Special Privilege In WWE Bobby Lashley made a surprise return this week on Monday Night Raw, announcing that his suspension was over and that he would be entering the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble match. Later in the show, MVP tried to convince Lashley to rejoin the Hurt Business but was turned down. This was Lashley’s first appearance on television since the December 12, 2022 Monday Night Raw, when he was suspended for attacking WWE officials. Lashley is a force. Check out what is back on Monday Night Raw: [This post contains v..
That’s a special status. There are all kinds of wrestlers in WWE but only a handful of them reach the top level. Those are the names who can get away with quite a bit more than the rest and are given a good bit of leeway. You can see them in various special situations which feel very different from anything else. Now we have another legend suggesting that a current star has such a different status. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: VIDEO: Sami Zayn Tries To Be Roman Reigns In Huge Main Event WWE Hall Of Famer appeared on the Strictly Business podcast where he discussed the idea of wrestlers having creative control in their contracts. Bischoff alleged that Brock Lesnar has such control in his WWE contract and “exercises the hell out of it”. Lesnar wrestles a limited schedule for WWE and reportedly gets to hand pick his opponents. There is no word on when he will be wrestling next. Lesnar has been a force in WWE. Check out some of his recent exploits: [This post contains video, click to play] ..
One more? Wrestling is a unique sport in that you will occasionally see people who are not normally wrestlers getting in the ring for a match. You don’t often see a coach or a broadcaster taking part in other sports, but wrestling is not exactly normal. It can be a special moment when someone gets back in the ring after a long absence though and now we are set to see it again. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: We’re Getting Started: Backstage WWE Reaction To Vince McMahon’s Return, Changes So Far During a recent edition of his After 83 Weeks podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff, 67, announced that he will be returning to the ring at a show in Florida on February 11. Bischoff said that his son Garrett, Gerald Brisco, Wes Brisco and Bischoff himself will be in the same ring, though he did not specify who would be wrestling whom. Bischoff’s most recent match took place on the April 26, 2012 edition of Impact Wrestling, though the match only lasted three seconds. Bischoff has had quite a histo..
He’s #1? Merchandise is a huge part of wrestling as fans are able to buy something that supports one of their favorite wrestlers. WWE has released all kinds of wrestling gear and merchandise over the years, some of which is quite unique. They are not the only promotion that does so however, and now a non-WWE star has topped a rather important merchandise list. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: By Association: Eric Bischoff Explains How Another Wrestler Cost Bobby Lashley His Job Pro Wrestling Tees has revealed that Danhausen has topped their list of merchandise sellers for 2022, beating out CM Punk and Maxwell Jacob Friedman in second and third place respectively. Danhausen debuted with AEW in January 2022 and has been associated with the Best Friends since, despite wrestling only fourteen matches for the team. His best selling shirt was the “Very Nice, Very Elite” shirt. The Official PWT25 of 2022!#pwt #prowrestlingtees #shopaew #aew #pwtees pic.twitter.com/g1e8ExDWdk — Pro Wrestling Tees (@..
That’s a serious issue. With so many wrestlers coming through the doors of various promotions over the years, there have been all kinds of reasons for wrestlers leaving the company. This could range from common to oddly specific and happen to almost all kinds of different names. There have been many big names who have left the company for one reason or another and now we know something about about one of the bigger surprises. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: LOOK: WWE Teases Popular Stable Reunion On Monday Night Raw Bobby Lashley made his Impact Wrestling (then TNA Wrestling) debut in 2009 but was released from the company in January of the following year. According to Eric Bischoff (then an Impact Wrestling executive) during his 83 Weeks podcast, Lashley was let go from the promotion due to Lashley’s then girlfriend, former WWE star Krystal Marshall, causing issues backstage. Bischoff did not tell Lashley that was the reason, instead saying that the company was going to let him go. Lashley w..
That’s definitely a take. There have been all kinds of matches over the years but there are some that stand out over the rest. That might not always be for the best of reasons though, as there are instances of wrestlers doing something in the ring that does not go so well. Now a wrestling legend is weighing in on an infamous match and it is not the most positive reaction. During the latest edition of his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff discussed the Summerslam 2005 match between Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels. The match featured Michaels overselling Hogan’s offense with several over exaggerated landings and falls. Bischoff said of the match: “I lost all respect for Shawn Michaels. It was pretty clear. There was an issue between Hulk and Shawn Michaels. There was a lack of respect, I think, there, perhaps some jealousy on Shawn’s part that, ‘Here’s this Hulk Hogan. He’s still here. He’s still the guy.’ I don’t know. I wasn’t close to Shawn at that point.” The match was scheduled to be..
Welcome back. Impact Wrestling has been around for a very long time, though unfortunately for it, a good bit of the history is not the most well received. There are several ideas and concepts through the company’s history that have been popular though. Now, one of those more popular ideas is back for a televised reunion, or at least in the short term. This week on Impact Wrestling, Aces & Eights made a return to help D’Lo Brown fight off Honor No More. Garrett Bischoff and Wes Brisco appeared for the team in a lowing effort before helping Brown clear the ring. Aces & Eights was active in Impact Wrestling, from 2012-2013 and had several members, including their leader Bully Ray, who wound up winning the World Heavyweight Title on two occasions. There is nothing to suggest that this is any more than a one off appearance. Opinion: I know Impact Wrestling is one of the most mocked promotions in the world, but they have done some great things over the last twenty years. The company has an..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Bash at the Beach 2000 Date: July 9, 2000 Location: Ocean Center, Daytona Beach, Florida Attendance: 6,572 Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Scott Hudson, Mark Madden Oh boy. After all those nice weeks of no Russo and/or Bischoff to screw things up, tonight we’re back to the old ways because this wrestling and storytelling stuff must be stopped at all costs. It’s a double main event of Goldberg vs. Kevin Nash for Scott Hall’s contract and Hulk Hogan challenging Jeff Jarrett for the World Title. Let’s get to it. Cat s..

The major focal point of this week’s Monday Night Raw was the 20th anniversary of Randy Orton’s WWE debut. That is a moment certainly worthy of special attention and WWE kind of nailed it, with a great tribute to Orton plus he got to dominate the main event, winning with a string of RKO’s. In something that has never been a good thing, this got me to thinking about some stuff. Monday was indeed the 20th anniversary of Orton’s WWE debut and it made me wonder how many more of these anniversary shows we should be seeing. When you think about it, 2002 is as influential of a year on modern wrestling as you are going to find. There are all kinds of things that deserve some special attention and that is what we are going to be looking at this week. This list is not meant to be exhaustive and is in no random order save for the very last one. The Chamber Is Lowered The Elimination Chamber made its debut at Survivor Series 2002 as Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff wanted something to top Smac..
Get the stars ready. There have been a lot of people in the wrestling industry over the years and a lot of them have worked for WWE at one time or another. The company has employed thousands of wrestlers and performers over the years and it is not easy to remember all of them, or even close to it. Some of them do stand out more than others though and that has one of WWE’s major partners rather pleased. Earlier this month, several guest stars appeared on SmackDown, with Eric Bischoff and Jeff Jarrett among others making surprise appearances. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, FOX was pleased with the idea of surprise guest stars as they felt it could lead to extra buzz over who might show up. Therefore, WWE may be having more surprise guests on its show, though it is not clear when this may start. Opinion: I can go for the idea, but it would be a little bit weird to see it happen so frequently. If nothing else, it would be nice to have these wrestlers or people appear for..

Back and better than ever? There are certain names in wrestling with such a reputation that just hearing their name brings up certain memories. Some of these are more positive than others, but they certainly have an impact. As a result, you will see them pop up every so often, which was the case again this week with a legend who has had his share of television time over the years. This week’s Monday Night Raw featured the renewal of Miz and Maryse’s wedding vows. Miz had promised a special guest to preside over the vows, which wound up being WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff. The ceremony ended with Edge making an appearance and giving all three a bloodbath to end the show. Bischoff has made cameo appearances in WWE for years, along with appearing in AEW last year. Bischoff had a busy night. Check out what he did this week, and his other wedding appearance: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play]..
That doesn’t sound good. The wrestling world has its history of success stories with people moving from great success in wrestling into retirement with a seemingly smooth transition. That kind of thing is great to see, but at the same time you have all kinds of things go in the opposite direction. Sometimes wrestlers have some major problems and this time we are seeing another sad story. Earlier this month, wrestling legend Brian Knobbs has been hospitalized due to severe stomach issues with no word on how bad things actually are. Eric Bischoff discussed the situation on his 83 Weeks podcast, saying that the situation is more serious than has been made public. While Bischoff would not go into the specifics of what is wrong as they have not been made public, he said that Knobbs was in a bad situation. Bischoff also talked about his time knowing Knobbs in the AWA back in 1987 and asked fans to donate whatever they could to his GoFundMe. Knobbs debuted in the AWA in 1985 as a singles wr..
Come on back! There are certain names in wrestling who feel like they have been around forever and could go just about anywhere. That can make for some interesting moments as you don’t know when someone is going to pop back up every now and then. That is the case with a certain former executive, who is going to be making another special appearance this week. AEW’s Chris Jericho appeared on Busted Open Radio and announced that former WCW and Impact wrestling executive will be appearing on this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. Bischoff will be hosting the celebration of the Inner Circle, which may be coming up on its final match at Double Or Nothing. Should the Inner Circle lose at the show, they will be forced to split up. This week’s AEW Dynamite will air on Friday at 10pm EST due to the NBA Playoffs taking their usual spot. Bischoff has appeared on AEW programming before, including moderating the Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy debate in 2020 and asking a question at an AEW town hall. The..
I remember you! There are a lot of people to remember in wrestling history and of course some of them are going to be bigger names than others. That is the case in any wrestling promotion, but sometimes someone’s reputation is strong enough to carry over to another company. It certainly is true of the Attitude Era and that was on display this week on a big show. One of the biggest current feuds in AEW is Orange Cassidy vs. Chris Jericho. For some reason Jericho has become obsessed with destroying Cassidy once and for all but has not been able to put him away. It has kept going for a good while now, and this time around the big idea was a debate between the two. That involved a special moderator who was a wrestling legend in his own right. This week on Dynamite, Eric Bischoff made his AEW debut as the moderator for the Cassidy vs. Jericho debate. Bischoff asked five questions and had the wrestlers give their response before ultimately declaring a winner. There is no indication that Bi..
He really is 4 life. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show what the entrance video would be if John Cena was in the nWo. This is in response to a portion of the Firefly Funhouse match between him and Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36. You can see the video in its entirety below: From WWE.com: Yet, When Cena swung the chair, Bray vanished, reappearing moments later on the set of WCW Nitro. Now portraying Eric Bischoff, Wyatt introduced “the coolest guy who ever walked the earth,” and Cena entered the scene in a New World Order black-and-white T-shirt, strumming a spray-painted WCW Title like Hollywood Hogan in the late 1990s. Editor’s Opinion: This match was absolutely brilliant. As I mentioned before, this type of match as changed the history of what professional wrestling could be, bending reality and creating fantasy scenarios for the hardcore wrestling fans. Could you imagine John Cena in the nWo in the 1990s? Holy cow, that would have been a game-c..
Eric Bischoff was recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated, where he discussed Hulk Hogan’s return to WWE, and any potential backlash that may come from it. Below are some highlights from the interview: On Hulk Hogan’s return to WWE: “I was really happy when I got the news because I know how much it means to him,” said Bischoff, who spoke in-person with Sports Illustrated after his appearance at the XWA “Wrestlution ‘18” show on Sunday in West Warwick, Rhode Island. “We’ve discussed the potential of this scenario for a long time.” “Professional wrestling, the WWE, and being in the Hall of Fame represent such a large part of Hulk’s life, as does his connection to the audience,” said Bischoff. “For that to not be there for him, it hurt. So I think the news is great for Hulk as a person and for wrestling fans. To many generations of fans, Hulk Hogan really represents the beginning of what became this amazing industry that we have.” On potential backlash for his return: “You’re goi..
