AEW Honors Jay Briscoe In Dynamite’s Main Event
They will always be Dem Boys. Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured a tribute to Jay Briscoe, as his brother Mark, made his AEW debut against their longtime friend and rival, Jay Lethal. This tribute match came just over a week after Jay Briscoe passed away in a car accident at the age of 38. Ironically, the show also happened to be taking place on what would have been Jay’s 39th birthday. The finish of the match came when Mark Briscoe connected with The Froggy Bow through the timekeeper’s table. He then rolled Lethal into the ring, and after a series of maneuvers, Briscoe planted Lethal with The Jay Driller to pick up the victory. Following the match, the entire AEW locker room came on stage and gave a round of applause to both competitors. Several of them also hugged Lethal as he came up to the top of the entrance ramp. Boss Time: Update On Vince McMahon’s Relationship With WWE In Retirement
He deserves a break. This year has been a very eventful one in the wrestling world and there is nothing to suggest that those changes are wrapping up anytime soon. The biggest change of them all has been Vince McMahon retiring from WWE after decades in charge. McMahon doing something other than running WWE seems hard to fathom and now we have a better idea of what he is doing now that he is away from the company. AEW Signs Another Former World Heavyweight Champion
Another one for the collection. One of AEW’s greatest strengths has been its roster. The company has been built on the amount of wrestlers that it has and the variety that it is able to present. AEW continues to add new talent to the roster and create new possibilities, which they have done again by signing another former World Heavyweight Champion to an official contract. AEW President Tony Khan has announced that Rush has officially signed a contract with the company. Rush has been appearing with the company for several weeks now, mainly teaming with Andrade El Idolo. WWE Releases ESPY Award Brackets For WWE Moment Of The Year
Get your brackets ready. Wrestling is in a weird place when it comes to being a sport. While there are pre-determined results, there is no denying that the people involved are athletes and have some amazing skills. Those people are going to be able to use those skills to make fans care about what they are doing. Now we are getting a look at the best of the last year. Next month, ESPN will be holding its annual ESPY Awards, honoring the best in sports in the last year. This will include a Best WWE Moment Of 2022, with fans getting to vote for the winner. That’s A Big Miss: Top Name May Not Appear At AEW Forbidden Door
He would be missed. We are coming up on one of the more interesting wrestling shows in a good many years with AEW’s Forbidden Door. The show will include a series of matches between AEW and New Japan wrestlers, including some title matches. While several big names have been mentioned, it seems unlikely that one of the will be on the show due to a special circumstance. Over the last two weeks of AEW Dynamite, Hangman Page has called out Kazuchika Okada for a match at Forbidden Door. However, according to Wrestling Observer Radio, Okada is unlikely to be at the show as his wife is expected to give birth around the same time as Forbidden Door (June 26). Okada’s status for the show is not yet clear but it will be established by next week. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that could shake up the pay per view quite a bit, as Okada is one of the names that you almost must have to make the show work. WWE Will Be Working With The NFL For A Special Moment Next Week
Call it a crossover. Professional wrestlers are certainly athletes, but there is a certain stigma about them. While what they do is some of the hardest work in all of sports, critics will waste no time in reminding you that what you are seeing is fake, or at least scripted and predetermined. That can make it a bit difficult for wrestling to be seen as athletics, but now some wrestlers will be appearing at a major athletic event. WWE has announced that The Miz and Titus O’Neil will be representing the company at the upcoming NFL Draft in Las Vegas. The two will get to announce selections for their respective hometown teams, the Cleveland Browns (Miz) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (O’Neil), the latter of which will be celebrating his birthday. WATCH: Pat McAfee Sings Happy Birthday to Michael Cole
That’s what friends are for. Tonight’s episode of Smackdown emulated from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which Pat McAfee was fired up about. However, he was also excited about getting to do something special and hilarious for his friend and broadcast colleague, Michael Cole. During a commercial break, McAfee got on a table and shared with the crowd how excited he was to be in the great state of Wisconsin. He then proceeded to let everybody know that it was Cole’s birthday and got the whole crowd to serenade him in a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday! AEW Star Reveals He Is Out Of Action With A Dislocated Knee
It might be a bit. An injury can take someone out of action at any time, but what can make them even worse is when you don’t realize that someone is injured. Sometimes it seems that a wrestler is gone because there is nothing for them to do, but then it turns out that they are not allowed in the ring at the moment. That is the case with a current AEW star, who has made things a bit more clear. AEW’s Matt Sydal has revealed that he has suffered a dislocated knee, which has kept him out of action recently. Sydal did not reveal when he suffered the injury or how long he will be out, though he did make it clear that he did not suffer a tear to his ACL or PCL. Sydal has not wrestled an AEW match since the February 21 edition of Dark: Elevation, where hw as on the winning team in a ten man tag. Thanks for the birthday love. ??? NXT Star’s WWE Contract Set To Expire Soon, Not Expected Back Right Now
Say goodbye? With so many people on the WWE roster, it can be difficult to keep track of everyone involved. Sometimes a wrestler just gets forgotten about for one reason or another, often when they are taken off of television. That can create a problem for the wrestlers as well as the company, as there are occasions where someone slips under the radar long enough that they wind up getting away entirely. We might be seeing that again soon. According to Fightful Select, Candice LeRae’s WWE contract is expected to expire at some point this spring. LeRae has been out of action on maternity leave since July and gave birth to her first child with Johnny Gargano last month. However, her contract has not been frozen since she has been out of action and is expected to expire before she is ready to return. WWE Advertised Something You Might Not Have Noticed On SmackDown
They have a plan for that. WWE does a lot of things throughout their television shows and some of them are more than a bit strange to see. It seems that occasionally you will see something come out of nowhere, even if it does not make the most sense. Most of the time there is at least some kind of an explanation though, and that is the case again with a new WWE arrival. This week on SmackDown, Kofi Kingston and Big E. came to the ring on an ATV, which Kingston had given to Big E. as an early birthday present. According to Fightful Select, the two rode the ATV as a way to promote an upcoming Mattel toy which will feature the ATV and at least one of them in some way. There is no word on how long the two will use the ATV as part of their entrance. Opinion: That doesn’t surprise me in the slightest, even if it might not be the most interesting idea. Monday Night Raw Date: January 24, 2022 Location: Huntington Center, Toledo, Ohio Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton It’s the go home show for the Royal Rumble and that could mean a few things. While the show is mostly set on the Raw side, there is always room to get in the final push towards Saturday and odds are that is what we are getting tonight. If nothing else, we have Miz celebrating Maryse’s birthday, which sounds shenanigansy. Let’s get to it. We’re starting big this week with the official weigh-in between Bobby Lashley (with MVP) and Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman). WWE Discussing Major Return, Possibly As Soon As The Royal Rumble
Back in the fold? We are less than a week away from the Royal Rumble and that means it is time to get ready for the Road To WrestleMania 38. WWE has a lot of work to do to get ready for the biggest event of the year and that means getting a lot of big names in position for the show. Some of them have not been around in a long time, but WWE might be bringing one of them back. According to Fightful Select, WWE is having internal discussions about bringing back former Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. The discussions have reached the point where they are considered a “poorly kept secret” in the company. Rousey has been discussed as a possible women’s Royal Rumble entrant but nothing has been confirmed. Rousey’s return is said to be a matter of “when” rather than “if”. She has not wrestled since WrestleMania 35 and gave birth to her daughter in September.
