And to Kevin Wilk @ChampionSportsM for already getting me started on rehab! (And of course to my amazing caregiver @TripleH) #RoadtoRecovery Busy week! Monday Night Raw Date: January 9, 2023 Location: Legacy Arena, Birmingham, Alabama Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Corey Graves We’re back to the red show and closing in on the Royal Rumble. There are only three names announced for the Royal Rumbles so far and that means some spots need to be filled. Odds are some of that is done tonight but there is the chance that they’re leaving some surprises this year. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here is Kevin Owens to get things going and the fans seem to like him. Before he can say much though, here is JBL to interrupt. After insulting the crowd, JBL says no one is buying Owens having a chance against Roman Reigns. JBL brings out Baron Corbin to insult the fans even more, including some University of Alabama insults. Owens buries his face in the turnbuckle as Corbin gets in every standard insult you can imagine. He says he was in a “JBL and Baron Corbin were talking for three minutes but didn’t say anything” coma but for now he’s willing ..
That’s a serious one. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling and some of them can be very serious indeed. You can see an injury take place all at once or some that are build up over time. Either can be devastating depending on how serious they are, and now we know more details on how bad a situation a current WWE superstar who has undergone rather serious surgery. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Former WWE Star Makes Surprise Return After Year Long Absence WWE’s Robert Roode has made a post to Instagram, revealing that he has undergone neck fusion surgery in Birmingham, Alabama. The surgery fused his C5 and C6 vertebrae together, with Roode saying that it is time to begin recovery and rehabilitation. There is no word on when or if Roode, 45 years old, will be able to wrestle again. His most recent match took place on June 25. They’re legends. Over the years, certain wrestlers reach a level like few others. Certain stars become some of the top names in all of wrestling and there are very few wrestlers who are able to come close to matching them. It can mean something when those wrestlers are able to get together outside of the ring, even after their careers are over. Now two more have done just that. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Add It Up: New Grudge Match Set For WWE Survivor Series WWE Hall Of Famer Trish Stratus and legend Mickie James have posted a video to their Instagrams showing them heading to MCM Comic Con in Birmingham, England. The two were riding in the back of a car and invited fans to come see them while talking about their history together. James and Stratus feuded in WWE in 2006, with James defeating Stratus to win the WWE Women’s Title. They have a lot to say. Check out the legends getting back together: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of thing that might h..
They might have a plan. With so many wrestlers on the WWE main roster, it can be difficult to keep track of everyone. WWE has enough wrestlers to put them into different distinct rosters. The wrestlers will occasionally move from one roster to another, with some changes coming when someone is coming back from an extended break. That is likely going to be the situation sooner than later. According to PWInsider.com, Bobby Roode was seen in Birmingham, Alabama earlier this week. Birmingham is the location where injured wrestlers go for medical treatment to recover from injuries, including Roode, who underwent surgery in Birmingham a few weeks ago. WWE is hoping that Roode will be back soon and there has been discussion about putting him on SmackDown. Roode has been out of action since late June. Opinion: This is long overdue as Roode has been gone for quite a long time, but there is only so much that can be done if he is injured. The good thing is that it seems like he is on his way bac..
That’s a valid reason. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be easy to lose track of some of them. When someone goes away, you might miss them at first but then they have been gone so long that they are forgotten altogether. That is the situation with a current WWE star who has been missing for a good while but now we might know where he has been. WWE’s Robert Roode has revealed on Instagram that he underwent a medical procedure in Birmingham, Alabama this week. There is no word on what kind of procedure it was or how severe Roode’s condition was prior to the procedure. Roode has not wrestled since a live event on June 25 and there is no word on when he will be returning to the ring following his procedure. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Robert Roode (@realrobertroode) Opinion: That does explain a few things, as Roode has not been around for a rather long time now. It was weird not seeing him around whatsoever and hopefully he can be back in the ring sooner..
That’s a long time off. Cody Rhodes made his surprise return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 and has since taken WWE by storm. Rhodes has become one of the biggest stars in WWE and even headlined last weekend’s Hell In A Cell event. However, Rhodes has suffered a major injury and that is the kind of thing that could slow him down for awhile. Now we know just how long that might be. Before Hell In A Cell, Rhodes suffered a torn pectoral muscle while training, though he did manage to wrestle his scheduled match anyway. This week on SmackDown, Michael Cole announced that as a result of the injury, Rhodes will be out of action for about nine months. Rhodes underwent successful surgery to repair the injury on Thursday in Birmingham, Alabama. Update: After successful surgery, @CodyRhodes will be out of action for nine months. #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/5ITIvRzPcL — WWE (@WWE) June 11, 2022 Opinion: This is the bad news that you probably knew was coming but that doesn’t make it any better. I’d call it an improvement. Every now and then, a major injury takes place on a live wrestling show and it is nothing short of horrifying. There is nothing that can be done and someone is going to be out of action for a very long time. All that leaves you to do is wait and hope to hear good news, which thankfully is the case again with one of the worse injuries you will see in modern wrestling. Last week on SmackDown, Big E. suffered a broken neck when he landed on his head on the floor. He has since offered an update, saying that he has fractured vertebrae and will not have to undergo surgery. This week, Big E. offered another update via Twitter, announcing that he is already out of the hospital and back at his home. There is no word on when Big E. could return to the ring. Appreciate you, man. I’m actually home now but Birmingham took good care of me. — Ettore “Big E” Ewen (@WWEBigE) March 14, 2022 Opinion: The fact that Big E. is both at home and able to tweet is a great sign, a..
He was being a hero. Wrestlers are the kind of people you do not get to see in person very often so it is a special treat to be at a show live. Other countries outside of the United States has an even harder time getting to see wrestlers in person. It can be special if you see something out of the ordinary, which was the case this week and involved a fan being kept safe. Following a match in Birmingham, England, Orton was greeting fans at ringside. As Orton was walking around, he noticed a young fan being crushed against the barricade. Orton asked the adult fans to back up and made sure that the fan was ok. He also spoke to the fan a bit before continuing to shake hands with other fans. Orton had teamed with Riddle to retain the Raw Tag Team Titles against Robert Roode/Dolph Ziggler and the Street Profits. It was a cool moment. Monday Night Raw Date: November 26, 2018 Location: Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee, Wisconsin Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Renee Young We’re coming up on TLC and the card is already starting to come into focus. Last week saw two big matches set up and you can imagine some more taking place tonight. We also don’t know any of the big gimmick matches yet, which are often some of the most important things on the show. Let’s get to it. We open with Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, Lio Rush and Drew McIntyre in the ring. They talk about how great their Thanksgiving was, though they didn’t indulge themselves like these common people. They’re all thankful for everything they do, including what they did to Braun Strowman last week. We see last week’s attack that put Strowman on the shelf and then go to Birmingham, Alabama where Strowman says he’ll be on the shelf for a while. His surgeon has never seen an injury like this before nor worked on an arm this size. He’ll be back though and what ..
NXT UK Date: November 21, 2018 Location: NEC Arena, Birmingham, England Commentators: Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness We’re at the semifinals of the tournament now and that means we should be getting to the final in another week or two. Other than that it’s…well fallout from whatever happened an hour ago which the announcers, who aren’t actually in the arena, will call last week. I’m sure someone we’ve seen recently will be around. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. NXT UK Women’s Title Semifinals: Rhea Ripley vs. Dakota Kai There’s some history here as Kai eliminated her from the first Mae Young Classic. The fans sound like they’re behind Kai, even as Ripley takes her down with a test of strength. Ripley sits her on the top for a slap to the face, only to get kicked in the jaw to even things up. A rollup gives Kai two and Ripley is looking annoyed. Some kicks to the chest send Ripley bailing to the floor and a pair of running soccer kicks make it even worse. Back in and Ripley tosses..
NXT UK Date: November 21, 2018 Location: NEC Arena, Birmingham, England Commentators: Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness It’s time for another double shot as we continue to try and get through all the old tapings, even though there’s another taping scheduled for this weekend. This week’s show will focus on the NXT UK Women’s Title Tournament, with the first round wrapping up to get us down to the final four. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. NXT UK Women’s Title Tournament First Round: Xia Brookside vs. Rhea Ripley Ripley throws her down by the face to start so Xia tries to grapple her down as well. The hurricanrana is countered into a buckle bomb though as the much smaller Brookside can’t do much with the much bigger Ripley. A delayed suplex and a dropkick to the back of the head give Ripley two and it’s off to a standing Texas Cloverleaf. Brookside fights up and snaps off a headscissors before going up top. The high crossbody is countered into the Riptide to give Ripley the pin at 5:14..
That’s a relief. Dean Ambrose is one of the true workhorses for WWE. He regularly tops the list of most matches in any given year and is almost never out of the ring due to injuries. That wasn’t the case this year as he missed about eight months due to a triceps injury. As it turns out there was a little more to it than that as Ambrose’s condition was a lot worse than originally thought. In a new interview with the Monitor, Ambrose revealed that he also suffered a severe staph infection that was far more serious than expected. It led to him needing another surgery and extreme treatment for the condition, which caused him to move to Birmingham, Alabama for a few months. Ambrose goes into full details of the story and here are some highlights: On The Staph Infection “It was just one nightmare after another. It was a pretty challenging period of time to go through. I ended up having two different surgeries. I had this MRSA, Staph infection. I nearly died. I was in the hospital for a wee..
Nothing about this sounds good. Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins was thrown off of the stage and went arm first into the window of a police van (check out the video here). The arm went through the glass and Rollins was cut open very badly, leaving a pool of blood underneath Rollins. The immediate questions was how bad the injury might be, and a few days later, we have an update. According to Wrestlinginc.com, Rollins did not wrestle at Friday’s house show in Birmingham, Alabama but did appear at the end of the show to help Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose powerbomb Dolph Ziggler through a table. The table however didn’t break and Ziggler bounced off of it instead. Reigns got another table for another TripleBomb, though it wasn’t clear if that one broke either in the following video: [This post contains video, click to play] WWE has yet to comments on Rollins’ status. Opinion: The fact that Rollins is being allowed to get physical is a good sign. I have no idea how b..
No one said it was sin danger. You never know when you might see a wrestler get injured. It could come at any time in a match, or it could be the result of years of built up damage to the body. At some point it happens to almost everyone and that can throw a wrench into the plans. Even if it’s someone who doesn’t get much time on TV, that’s still one less person to put on house shows, which seems to be the case at the moment. According to PWInsider.com by way of 411mania.com, Sin Cara has posted on Instagram that he is in Birmingham, Alabama to deal with some kind of an injury which may require surger. At the moment, Sin Cara hasn’t provided any kind of details on what the nature of the injury may be. Sin Cara has been wrestling recently, with his most recent match coming at a SmackDown Live house show on August 5. He looks healthy here: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: There aren’t many details to Sin Cara’s status but hopefully it’s not a serious injury. I know..
