AEW Rampage Results – February 24, 2023

Rampage Date: February 24, 2023 Location: Footprint Center, Phoenix, Arizona Commentators: Jim Ross, Chris Jericho, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone We’re still in the desert and Rampage is still searching for a more viable formula. I’m not sure why AEW seems to punt on this show so often but it does produce some enjoyable results. If you can get by without the star power after the first match, you should be in for a fun one and hopefully that is true this week. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Aussie Open vs. Young Bucks Kenny Omega is here with the Bucks. The Aussies deck the Bucks to start and isolate Matt for a kick to the chest and backsplash. Matt manages to backflip away from both of them and brings in Nick to walk the ropes into a wristdrag/headscissors combination. The Bucks clear the ring but the bigger Davis comes back in to slam them both at the same time. Nick’s pop up dropkick sends Davis to the floor though and Matt grabs a running flipping neckbreaker to send Fletcher int..

AEW Dynamite Results – February 22, 2023

Dynamite Date: February 22, 2023 Location: Footprint Center, Phoenix, Arizona Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz We have two weeks to go to before Revolution and that means it is time to start finalizing the card. That is a little tricky when one of the matches is going to be a sixty minute Iron Man match, but AEW does know how to throw in a few surprises. Tony Khan has promised a big surprise for tonight so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. All-Atlantic Title: Orange Cassidy vs. Wheeler Yuta Only Cassidy is defending after Yuta wants revenge for Cassidy and the Best Friends forgetting about him. They go technical to start and get some near falls each until Yuta bails to the floor. Back in and Cassidy uses Yuta’s own Seatbelt rollup for two, meaning it’s time for another breather outside. Cue Claudio Castagnoli to slap Yuta in the face to wake him up. That’s enough to make Yuta counter the Orange Punch and send Cassidy outside for some whips into the barricade. A posting..

WWE Superstars Predict The 2023 Super Bowl Winner

They have spoken. WWE recently released a video in which several superstars give their predictions for who will win the 2023 Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadephia Eagles. The game is being played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. You can see the video below: [This post contains video, click to play] The superstars and their picks are as follows: Street Profits – Eagles Baron Corbin – Chiefs The Miz – Chiefs Ricochet – Eagles Dolph Ziggler – Chiefs Bobby Lashley – Chiefs Madcap Moss – Eagles Austin Theory – Chiefs Sarah Schriber – Chiefs Ashante Thee Adonis – Eagles Top Dolla – Chiefs B-Fab – Eagles Tegan Nox – Doesn’t Care Editor’s Opinion: Most of the superstars interviewed are riding with the Chiefs, which I totally get because they have Patrick Mahomes. However, I’ve thought that, for the most of the year, the Eagles have been the most complete team with that explosive office, under Jalen Hurts. Because of the fact that I think the Eagles have..

REVIEW: Elimination Chamber 2017: Last One

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Elimination Chamber 2017 Date: February 12, 2017 Location: Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix, Arizona Commentators: Mauro Ranallo, John Bradshaw Layfield, Tom Phillips, David Otunga We’re two weeks removed from the Royal Rumble and that means it’s time for another pay per view. This time it’s Smackdown only with the big namesake match setting up the Wrestlemania World Title match for the blue brand. The winner seems pretty obvious but that’s never stopped WWE before. Let’s get to it. Pre-Show: Curt Hawkins vs. Moj..

Next Time: WWE Cancels Upcoming Event

One less on the calendar. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world and that gives them a lot of advantages over other companies. One of their major strengths is the name recognition that comes with running regular events around the country. It means something to get to see the action live, but that will not be the case for some fans. According to PWInsider.com, WWE has canceled its upcoming Sunday Stunner event on October 16 in Prescott Valley, Arizona. There was no reason given for the cancellation of the show, which would have been the first WWE event in the venue, and no makeup date announced. The event was to be a SmackDown show, featuring matches such as the New Day vs. the Usos and Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross. Opinion: This one comes a bit out of nowhere and I’m curious to know why the show was canceled. There is always the chance that it was due to low ticket sales, which would not be the most shocking in a new venue. WWE is on a bit of a roll ..

SmackDown Results – July 1, 2022

Smackdown Date: July 1, 2022 Location: Footprint Center, Phoenix, Arizona Commentators: Pat McAfee, Michael Cole It’s the go home show for Money in the Bank and that means we probably need a lot of talk about the percentages of wrestlers who successfully cash in. I for one could go for some good old statistics to make me care about the show, as it isn’t like there is much else to say. Maybe they can surprise us though. Let’s get to it. The participants in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match are on ladders in the ring (save for Omos) and talk about how they want to win on Saturday. It means they can cash in, with Seth Rollins saying Summerslam sounds like a good idea. Sami Zayn says he’ll win and keep the contract in the Bloodline’s house. MVP laughs off the idea of anyone but Omos winning and there is no one who can do anything to stop them. Sheamus wants to beat Brock Lesnar, though Drew McIntyre says he has already done it. Cue Miz (Drew: “The frickin MIZ?”) to says he is a t..

Maliq Carr of Michigan State, a 6-foot-5, 2..

VIDEO: World Champion Releases Album, Jams To His Own Music

It’s a different kind of career. Wrestlers are very talented people and get to showcase themselves every time they get inside a ring. There are things that most of us could never approach and it can be very entertaining to watch them do their work. However, sometimes you get to see them showcase a different kind of talent, and that is the case again with a fairly high profile name. Major League Wrestling World Champion Alex Hammerstone has released a five song extended play called Blow Away Luna. The album is available on Spotify and iTunes and Hammerstone has released a video of him playing guitar alongside the song Fantasy. Hammerstone also asked for an interest in an Arizona musician or band interested in helping take the project forward. Jamming along to the song, Fantasy, off my album I’ve released 5 tracks on Apple Music, Spotify, sound cloud. Available now under Blown Away Luna. Az musician or singer interested in taking this project live? Message me pic.twitter.com/owFxVzvC..

REVIEW: Summerslam 2003: The Chamber Sequel

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Summerslam 2003 Date: August 24, 2003 Location: America West Arena, Phoenix, Arizona Attendance: 16,113 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, Tazz It’s one of the biggest shows of the year and I can’t bring myself to get excited over it. This show really hasn’t been built up very well with only the Smackdown World Title match with Kurt Angle defending against Brock Lesnar offering much interest. The rest of the show feels very flat, especially the Raw World Title match which should have been Goldberg..

REVIEW: NXT Takeover: Phoenix: The Desert Classic

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Takeover: Phoenix Date: January 26, 2019 Location: Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix, Arizona Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson, Mauro Ranallo I don’t think I need to waste your time suggesting that this show might be awesome. Takeover has raised their standard up so high that there’s no reason to suggest that it’s going to be anything less than great. The question now is how great, which should make for a heck of an evening. Let’s get to it. The opening video focuses on the desert, where it’s hot, d..

SmackDown Live Coverage And Results – August 20, 2021

Smackdown Date: August 20, 2021 Location: Footprint Center, Phoenix, Arizona Commentators: Pat McAfee, Michael Cole It’s the go home show for Summerslam and for once, the show is actually tomorrow night. I wouldn’t expect much in the way of wrestling tonight, but the talking should be more than enough to make something interesting. John Cena and Roman Reigns are here and that should be about all you need. Let’s get to it. Here is Edge to get things going. After a video on Edge vs. Seth Rollins, Edge is sitting in a chair to talk about how Rolling teased stomping him back in 2014. Edge knows that the stomp could end his career and his way of life. It’s true that Rollins is an all time talent, but Rollins has driven him to a place where his blood runs black. Edge can see clearly on this day, and he knows that he has to break and humble Rollins. At Summerslam, Edge is going to burn him down. Dominik Mysterio is all fired up but Rey Mysterio wants him to calm down and stay focused. That..

Wrestlemania XXVI Date: March 28, 2010 Location: University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona Attendance: 72,219 Commentators: Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, Matt Striker In addition to the two main events (Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker, career vs. Streak and John Cena vs. Batista for the WWE Championship_, there’s a third big match that people never thought would actually happen. Back on January 4, 2010, Bret Hart returned to the company for the first time in over twelve years. After burying the hat..

Roman Reigns Pulled From Upcoming Appearance

We’ll catch you next time. Back in October, Roman Reigns announced that he would be stepping away from WWE for the time being due to a recurrence of his leukemia. The move forced him to vacate the Universal Title and it wasn’t clear when Reigns would be returning to the company in any way. Reigns would be gone a long time, and now another appearance is off as well. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Reigns has been pulled from the ACE Comic Con in Phoenix, Arizona from January 11 – January 13, 2019. This would have been Reigns’ first official appearance on behalf of WWE since his announcement on October 22. At the moment, there is no word on when Reigns will be back on WWE TV, though it isn’t expected to be anytime soon. It’ll be great when he can come back and add to this. Check out a look at Reigns’ best spears: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Really, you have to expect this to be Reigns’ last scheduled appearance for a long time. WWE, and likely ..
