That’s an endorsement. We are rapidly approaching WrestleMania 39 weekend and as usual, it will be the biggest and busiest few days of the wrestling year. Fans from all over the world will be coming out to see what WWE is doing that weekend, but there is also a lot of stuff that has nothing to do with what happens in the ring. One legend has put in a request for what he would like to see. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He Would Know: Edge Calls 36 Year Old Raw Wrestler Today’s Rated-R Superstar On March 31, WWE will induct the Class of 2023 into the WWE Hall Of Fame. In a new YouTube video, Hulk Hogan has endorsed the Fabulous Rougeau Brothers, Jacques and Raymond, to be inducted this year. The Rougeaus teamed together in the WWE from 1986-1990. WWE normally inducts one tag team a year and has not announced this year’s team. The only inductee announced thus far is Rey Mysterio. The team was rather awesome. Check out the Rougeaus in action: [This post contains video, click to play] [This ..
That’s the big stuff. We are rapidly approaching WrestleMania 39 and that means the card needs to be either set up or close to set up. While the matches might not have been announced on television as of yet, there might be something different going on behind the scenes. As a result, WWE could have a strong idea o what is coming at the biggest show of the year, and now we might know a lot more about what they have planned. So far, there are three matches confirmed for WrestleMania 39. Those matches are: • Undisputed WWE Universal Title: Roman Reigns(c) vs. Cody Rhodes • SmackDown Women’s Title: Charlotte(c) vs. Rhea Ripley • Raw Women’s Title: Bianca Belair(c) vs. Elimination Chamber winner According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the following matches are considered “locked in” for the card but have yet to be announced: • John Cena vs. Austin Theory (it is not clear if this will be for Theory’s United States Title) • Women’s Tag Team Titles: Damage Ctrl(c) vs. Ronda Rousey/S..
Not this time? We are rapidly approaching WrestleMania 39 and there are several questions about where things are going. One of the biggest questions is about the main event, which has been rumored as the Rock facing Roman Reigns for several months now. The story would make sense, but it all hinges on the Rock being available. Now we might have a better idea on the match’s status. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: The Firefly Fun House Returns On SmackDown A source has told the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the Rock does not feel he has enough time to get into ring shape for a main event match. Unless things change in the next few days, Rock will not be taking part in the match, though there is always the chance that he could change his mind. There is also the chance that the entire situation is a way to cover the fact that Rock has agreed to the match. Rock being back would be a big deal. Check out what it is like to have him around: [This post contains video, click to play] [Th..
That’s an idea. We are rapidly approaching WrestleMania 39 and that means it is time fpr WWE to start getting ready for their biggest event of the year. They need to figure out what all of their top names are going to be doing, which is easier said than done in some cases. Now WWE is having a bit of an issue figuring out what to do with one of its stars, as there might be a bit of a problem. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Injured WWE Star Starts “MASSIVE COMEBACK” After Nine Month Absence During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that he believes Bray Wyatt will face Uncle Howdy at WrestleMania 39. Meltzer said that while Wyatt is popular and sells merchandise, top stars “probably want to avoid him” because of “his history with top guys”. Last week Wyatt said that he was Howdy, though Howdy appeared this week on Monday Night Raw. There is no word from WWE on what Wyatt will be doing at the show. Note that this is Meltzer’s opinion and not to be taken as a ..
Bring them on in. We are rapidly approaching the start of the Road To WrestleMania 39 and that means it is time to get ready for the biggest events of the year. WWE puts on some of the most important shows of the year over WrestleMania weekend, but not all of them take place in the ring. Now it seems that the company is planning some more events in addition to their regular wrestling cards. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Other Way: WWE Makes Another Policy Change (And This One Might Not Be So Popular) According to WrestleVotes, WWE wants additional interactive shows throughout WrestleMania weekend. These shows would be similar to Undertaker’s 1DeadMan show, with fans participating and the featured star telling stories. Shows featuring Steve Austin and Trish Stratus have been discussed but there is nothing to suggest that anything has been finalized. WrestleMania 39 is scheduled for April 1 and 2, 2023. I’m told WWE is looking into having additional shows throughout WrestleMania weekend ..
Two more on the list. We are rapidly approaching some one of the biggest WWE events of the year with Crown Jewel from Saudi Arabia. The show is one of two from the kingdom this year and that means WWE is going to want to stack the show up as much they can. That is what they did this week, as two more matches were added to the card, both of which feature a former World Champion. WWE added a pair of matches to the Crown Jewel card this week on SmackDown. First up, Braun Strowman challenged Omos to a match, with MVP accepting on Omos’ behalf. Second, Drew McIntyre announced that he has been forced to stay away from Karrion Kross until the two of them will face off in a steel cage match at Crown Jewel. The show takes place on Saturday November 5. Opinion: Both of these matches make sense for the show and it was more a case of waiting to get the matches announced. Strowman and Omos had their showdown last week and McIntyre vs. Kross was going to happen again at some point. The matches sho..
Monday Night Raw Date: October 17, 2022 Location: Paycom Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Commentators: Corey Graves, Kevin Patrick We’re rapidly approaching Crown Jewel and WWE has the main event covered with Logan Paul challenging Roman Reigns. That leaves some spots open for the rest of the card, some of which needs to be filled in soon. Odds are we’ll get some of that soon and you can probably guess some of the matches from here. Let’s get to it. We open with Bobby Lashley in the ring mid-promo, where he calls out Brock Lesnar. Cue Lesnar and they get in a fight before Lesnar can even make it to the ring, with Lashley getting posted on the floor. Lashley slips out of another posting and sends Lesnar into it instead. A spear through the barricade draws out wrestlers and officials to break it up but Lashley gets away. This time it’s Lesnar going through the announcers’ table (on the second attempt) to leave him laying. OC vs. Alpha Academy AJ Styles is here with the OC. Anderson ta..
NXT Date: October 11, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Booker T. We’re rapidly approaching Halloween Havoc and that means we might need some more matches added to the show. The main event is already set and tonight we get another name added to the North American Title match as Axiom and Nathan Frazer wrap up their best of three series. Let’s get to it. Javier Bernal vs. Bron Breakker Non-title and here is JD McDonagh to join commentary. Breakker wrestles him down with ease to start and grabs an armbar. A belly to belly drops Bernal but he’s back up with a shot of his own. A shove to the face annoys Breakker though and he throws Bernal down. The gorilla press powerslam finishes Bernal at 3:18. Result: Bron Breakker b. Javier Bernal – Gorilla press powerslam (3:18) Post match McDonagh gets in the ring for the showdown and Ilja Dragunov comes in to join them. The brawl is on and Dragunov’s Torpedo hits Breakker, despite looking like h..
I’d call it a feud. Wrestling is built around the idea of having fans put their money down to see people get into a fight with one emerging victorious. That has been the way the industry works for decades and it is still the case to this day. Some feuds are a little more serious than others though and now a slightly less intense one is getting a new stage after a pretty long hiatus. Back in October 2021, WWE backstage correspondent Kayla Braxton dressed up as Sami Zayn for Halloween and impersonated him on Talking Smack. Earlier this week, Braxton asked who she should be for Halloween this year, prompting a response from Zayn, saying he held grudges. Braxton responded by posting a photo of herself in Zayn’s Honorary Uce shirt and asking “how about now?”. It’s kind of complicated. Check out what started it all and the fallout: [This post contains video, click to play] Guys – Halloween is approaching. In years past, I’ve dressed up as a better @SamiZayn than Sami Zayn and of course l..
They would be different. Tag team wrestling has a weird history in WWE as the company has rarely been huge on pushing it. Instead, teams are often put together for the sole purpose of splitting them up later. That is certainly not the case with the top team in the company at the moment though, as the Usos are approaching the record for longest Tag Team Title reign in company history. They need some fresh challengers, and now a new team might be stepping up. Following this week’s SmackDown, Mace of the Maximum Male Models tweeted out a picture of the team with both sets of Tag Tam Titles Photoshopped onto them. While not specifically stated, this could suggest that the team is coming after the Usos’ championships. The Maximum Male Models made their in-ring debut as a team on the August 26 SmackDown and have yet to win a match. mmmanifesting the prophecy. pic.twitter.com/rGzvbfJz2S — ma.çé (@MACEtheWRESTLER) September 24, 2022 Opinion: I’m not sure I can imagine the Maximum Male Mode..
Impact Wrestling Date: September 15, 2022 Location: The Factory, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We’re rapidly approaching Victory Road and then Bound For Glory, meaning some of the shows’ major matches have already been announced. With some of the bigger shows on the way, it would make sense to give them that much extra attention. There’s a good chance of getting some more added to the cards this week so let’s get to it. Opening recap. X-Division Title: Mascara Dorada vs. Mike Bailey Bailey is defending. They trade armdrags to start before both block one at the same time. An exchange of countered hurricanranas gives them a standoff and they chop it out until Bailey is knocked to the floor. The slingshot dive misses and Dorada wins a chop off outside. Back in and a suicide dive drops Bailey, setting up a missed top rope double stomp back inside. Bailey pulls him into a kneebar but Dorada is in the ropes rather quickly. The running twisting shooting star g..
Call it mixed signals. WWE has been on television for a long time now, with Monday Night Raw approaching thirty years on the air. Most of that has been on the USA Network, which has had quite the strong relationship over the years. The two sides have worked together for quite the successes, but now some of their signals are a bit crossed in a bit of an odd way. This week’s Monday Night Raw opened with a Brock Lesnar in-ring interview. During the segment, Lesnar used the word s***, which was censored on the live broadcast of the show. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, USA had approved the word in their script of the show and WWE did not know it would be censored. There is nothing to suggest that WWE is angry about the situation, but they were surprised by the change. This comes as USA has reportedly planned to make Monday Night Raw a TV-14 show again. Opinion: This is one of those things that really doesn’t matter all that much, but it is the kind of thing that makes you wonder w..
That’s a plan for later. We are rapidly approaching WWE’s Money in the Bank pay per view and the show is going to be rather stacked. That being said, there are other major events later in the year that need to be built up as well. WWE also needs to get ready for Summerslam and now it seems that they have the plans in place for one of the bigger matches on the show. This week on Monday Night Raw, Omos defeated Riddle in a Money in the Bank qualifying match. Following the match, Seth Rollins attacked Riddle, including laying him out with a Stomp. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this is likely setting up a match between the two at Summerslam. Riddle is currently not scheduled for Money in the Bank and Rollins has already qualified for the men’s ladder match, making Summerslam the first pay per view where the match could take place. Opinion: I don’t think it is any kind of a surprise that Riddle vs. Rollins is coming, but waiting for Summerslam is a bit different. It is rare for W..
Three more. We are rapidly approaching the next WWE pay per view with Money In The Bank. The show is one of the most important on the WWE calendar as winning the show’s namesake match can be a game changer for anyone’s career. Being in the match means you have a shot, and now we know some more names who are going to be included on the show’s card. Three new names qualified for the Money In The Bank ladder matches this week on Monday Night Raw. First, Liv Morgan and Alexa Bliss defeated Nikki Ash and Doudrop in a tag match where the winning team qualified for the Women’s version. Later, Seth Rollins defeated AJ Styles to qualify for the Men’s match. This leaves five spots left in the Women’s match and seven left in the Men’s match. Opinion: You have to get these spots set up sooner than later and that is what WWE is doing here. They had to start filling in some of those spots because the show is in just over two weeks. There are some big names already attached to the matches and that ..
Impact Wrestling Date: June 9, 2022 Location: Osceola Heritage Park, Kissimmee, Florida Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We are rapidly approaching Slammiversary and that means it is time to start filling out the card. The main event is set but we still need to add in a few more spots here and there. This includes another name in the Ultimate X match, plus a likely Moose vs. Sami Callihan match. Let’s get to it. The opening sequence looks at Sami Callihan attacking Moose last week. Callihan wants Moose. Opening sequence, again featuring a classic TNA theme. Tenille Dashwood vs. Rosemary Madison Rayne is here too. Rosemary knocks her into the corner to start and a ram into the buckle makes it worse. Dashwood manages to get in a shot of her own though and pulls Rosemary outside for a crash to take over. Back in and the Upside Down doesn’t get Rosemary very far as Dashwood clotheslines her down. A full nelson is broken up though and a double clothesline gives them both a..
The more things change. We are rapidly approaching WWE Hell In A Cell and the card is only somewhat put together, with four matches already announced. That being said, WWE still have other shows that are coming up further down the line, though one of them is going up some changes. It turns out that the changes in one area could cause changes to the show itself. Earlier this week, WWE announced that Money In The Bank would be moving from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the same city. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the show’s creative plans are now up in the air, especially when it comes to the company’s top stars. It is not clear if Roman Reigns defending the WWE Universal Title against Riddle is still taking place. At the same time, there is no word on if Brock Lesnar, who was originally advertised, will still appear now that the show is in an arena. The show takes place on July 2. Opinion: I’m not sure what is going on in WWE at the m..
Dang it feels like we only did one of these things yesterday. It is time for the second night of Wrestlemania XXXVIII and they’re actually going to have their work cut out for them to do better than the first night. While I doubt anything is approaching Steve Austin actually having a match, there is a major main event that is going to have a lot behind the whole thing. Let’s get to it. Johnny Knoxville vs. Sami Zayn This is an Anything Goes match so Knoxville and his friends can get together and do a variety of wacky things to Zayn. That isn’t the most interesting way to go if you aren’t a Jackass fan, but this is a celebrity appearance that might work out. The point of Jackass seems to be seeing things happen to its cast so having Knoxville in a match is as good as anything else. I’ll take Knoxville to win for the “feel good” moment, as Zayn has long since proven that he can take a loss like few others. I’m not sure how well the match is going to be but it should be a heck of a spe..
It keeps getting bigger. We are rapidly approaching WrestleMania 38 and that means things are starting to get more interesting in WWE. There are a lot of plans that need to be made before we get to the show, but some of those changes have nothing to do with WrestleMania itself. Some other things take place over the course of the weekend and now we might know something else about one of them. According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast, Sycho Sid will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2022. Sid wrestled for WWE in multiple stints and is a two time WWE Champion, last wrestling for the company in 2012. Should he be inducted, Sid would join Vader and Undertaker, the latter of whom Sid faced for the WWE Title in the main event of WrestleMania 13. Opinion: Sid is another name that might not have had the biggest demand to get in, but once you hear his name added, it makes sense. He has a certain level of charisma to him that makes you want to see what he is going to do ne..
One more on the card. We are rapidly approaching WrestleMania 38 as the show will take place over the first weekend of April. The show only has a handful of matches set, meaning there is quite a bit of room left to fill up on the card. You can probably guess some of those matches from here and now we probably know what one of the other title matches will be added to the show. Last week on SmackDown, Sasha Banks defeated Shotzi in a match. After Banks won, Naomi got in the ring and said that the two of them would be the next WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. According to PWInsider.com, Naomi and Banks will be challenging Carmella and Queen Zelina for the titles at WrestleMania 38. Naomi and Banks have teamed together in one two on two tag match in the last year, defeating Natalya and Shayna Baszler on the November 26, 2021 Smackdown. Opinion: I’m a bit surprised that this match is happening, but it shows you more than a few things. First of all, the fact that the best challengers the ti..
