Not A Fan: Wrestling Legend On Johnny Gargano: “He’s Not Over. Listen To That Crowd”

He’s not a fan. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the WWE roster today and it can be difficult to find something for all of them to do. What matters the most is finding the wrestler who will get the strongest response from the fans, which can be easier said than done. WWE seems to have picked a wrestler, but now a certain legend is not seeing things the same way. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Changes WrestleMania Plans, Possible New Main Event Over the last few weeks, Johnny Gargano has been helping Edge in his battles against the Judgment Day. In addition, Gargano is set for a match against Grayson Waller at NXT Stand & Deliver over WrestleMania weekend. However, during a recent edition of Keepin’ It 100, Konnan asked if there was anyone more over-pushed than Gargano. Konnan asked if Gargano had ever lost a match and said “Bro, he’s not over. Listen to the crowd.” Gargano teamed with Dexter Lumis in a loss to Judgment Day this week on Monday Night Raw. Gargano has b..

The Less The Merrier: WWE Reportedly Making A Change For This Year’s Hall Of Fame Class

Still works. We are coming up on WrestleMania weekend and that means it is time for a lot of things to start coming together. This includes the WrestleMania card of course, but also several other pieces that are only starting to be announced. One such thing is the WWE Hall Of Fame, with this year’s class only starting to come together. Now we might have a better idea as to why. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Of Course: 60 Year Old WWE Legend Inducts Himself Into Hall Of Fame, Accuses Miz Of Theft Last week on SmackDown, Rey Mysterio was announced as the first inductee into the WWE Hall Of Fame Class of 2023. While WWE is planning to announce at least one more inductee later this week, this is slower than the company’s usual pace for announcing inductions. According to Fightful Select, the current plan is to have this year’s class be “way smaller” than in previous years. There is no word on how many names will be included in the induction ceremony, which is set for March 31. There is one big..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Possible Sign That Naomi Is Done With WWE

That’s a telling sign. Last May, Naomi and Sasha Banks both walked out on WWE, while still the reigning WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Banks, now known as Mercedes Mone, has since resurfaced in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Naomi however has not been seen in a wrestling capacity since the walk out. Now a new development is suggesting that she is no longer part of WWE whatsoever. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They’re Out? WWE Expected To Split Up NXT Tag Team WrestleCon, the wrestling fan convention held over WrestleMania weekend, has announced that Naomi, under her real name of Trinity Fatu, will be a guest at the convention. WWE contracted wrestlers are rarely allowed to do outside appearances such as this, which would suggest that Naomi is no longer under contract to WWE, or will not be when the convention takes place. This is to be considered speculation as there is NO report that she has officially left WWE. https://twitter.com/wrestlecon/status/1631648476743315457 Naomi was a star while ..

NXT Vengeance Day 2023 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

Unless I’m forgetting something, this is the first time NXT has left Orlando for a televised event since Stand & Deliver over Wrestlemania weekend. At some point they just need to get out of Florida and heading to Charlotte is as good of a way as any. The card actually has me interested this time, though the television show from this week wasn’t so great. Maybe they can overcome that with a good one here so let’s get to it. North American Title: Wes Lee(c) vs. Dijak We’ll start off with one that can go either way as Dijak is a monster who can run through a lot of people and Lee is someone who could be champion for a nice run. This has been built up for a few weeks with Dijak speaking more and more like an 80s movie villain. Lee has turned into a much better star than I would have expected him to be and this is a tossup so far. I’ll go with Lee here, as it would not surprise me to see Tony D’Angelo and Stacks come in to cost Dijak the match. Dijak is someone who needs to be protected ..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Considers Special Legend Shows For WrestleMania 39

Bring them on in. We are rapidly approaching the start of the Road To WrestleMania 39 and that means it is time to get ready for the biggest events of the year. WWE puts on some of the most important shows of the year over WrestleMania weekend, but not all of them take place in the ring. Now it seems that the company is planning some more events in addition to their regular wrestling cards. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Other Way: WWE Makes Another Policy Change (And This One Might Not Be So Popular) According to WrestleVotes, WWE wants additional interactive shows throughout WrestleMania weekend. These shows would be similar to Undertaker’s 1DeadMan show, with fans participating and the featured star telling stories. Shows featuring Steve Austin and Trish Stratus have been discussed but there is nothing to suggest that anything has been finalized. WrestleMania 39 is scheduled for April 1 and 2, 2023. I’m told WWE is looking into having additional shows throughout WrestleMania weekend ..

REVIEW: Joey Janela’s Spring Break 6 Night One: Needs Less Good

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Joey Janela’s Spring Break 6 Night One Date: March 31, 2022 Location: Fair Park, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Kevin Gill, Lenny Leonard This is probably the crown jewel of the indy shows over Wrestlemania Weekend, just because of how insane it can get. Janela’s shows have a tendency to be completely nuts with some incredibly fun stuff and surprises. I’m actually looking forward to this one just for the atmosphere so let’s get to it. Tag Team Titles: Second Gear Crew vs. Briscoes vs. Nick Gage Gage is defending on..

REVIEW: Mission Pro Wrestling Bangerz Only: We’ve Come A Long Way

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Bangerz Only Date: April 2, 2022 Location: Fair Park, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Denise Salcedo, Sam Leterna, Veda Scott This is from Mission Pro Wrestling, an all women’s promotion owned by AEW Thunder Rosa, from over Wrestlemania weekend. That means we should be in for a fun show which likely includes a fair few guest stars. I have no idea what to expect from this show and that is a nice feeling, as it could be a little bit of anything. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Shazza McKenzie vs. Janai Kai Kai has..

REVIEW: WrestleCon Supershow 2022: Featuring A Lot

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? WrestleCon Supershow 2022 Date: March 31, 2022 Location: Fairmont Hotel, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Veda Scott This is one of the biggest and most interesting shows of Wrestlemania Weekend as you do not know what you are going to get on any given show. Some of the matches are going to be announced in advance, but sometimes you are just going to get some wrestlers without opponents. This is the non-WWE ticket I make sure to get every year and this was no exception. Let’s get to it. I was in the are..

Mark Your Calendars: NXT May Have A Strange Schedule For Upcoming Major Events

At least they have a plan. NXT has undergone some major changes in the last eight or so months, as the promotion has been relaunched as NXT 2.0. This has meant a major shift for everyone involved and that has not been the easiest thing. A lot of the older traditions have gone away, including the Takeover specials. Now though, NXT does have plans for something that sounds pretty cool. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, NXT’s current plan is to hold a special event in June on the USA Network called In Your House. There would also be a special event in August airing on Peacock, though the event would not take place over Summerslam weekend. NXT’s most recent major event, Stand & Deliver, took place over WrestleMania weekend on April 2. Opinion: That sounds like a pretty logical schedule, as NXT has to have some major events to build towards in the future. In Your House has been around in NXT for a few years now and it would make sense to put it on the NXT schedule again. It ..

Huge Match Takes Place After Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns In Action

They aren’t done yet. Last week’s Monday Night Raw marked the end of WrestleMania Weekend, which featured some of the most important WWE events of the year. The shows included all kinds of special matches and moments, but eventually things had to come to an end. WWE was back to normal this week but three hours of Monday Night Raw just wasn’t enough. There was another match after the show went off the air and it was a big one. According to PWInsider.com, there was a dark match after this week’s Monday Night Raw went off the air. Following the show, Drew McIntyre and the New Day defeated the Bloodline in a six man tag when McIntyre pinned one of the Usos after a Claymore. Only the Usos appeared on the show itself, defeating the Street Profits in the main event. This is Reigns’ first match since WrestleMania 38. Opinion: This is the kind of a fun way that WWE can send the fans home happy, which is one of the places that they shine. It can be fun to see WWE come up with something like th..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – April 11, 2022

Monday Night Raw Date: April 11, 2022 Location: Little Caesar’s Arena, Detroit, Michigan Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We’re back to normal this week as the Wrestlemania Weekend glow is gone. Now we get to see what the regular crowds are like and how they respond to what WWE is offering. At the same time, we get to see how things go when WWE doesn’t have to try as hard. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Cody Rhodes’ return at Wrestlemania and wanting to become the WWE Champion to honor his father. Here is the Miz for MizTV. Miz wastes no time in introducing Cody Rhodes, though he does make sure to insult the fans a few times. Miz accuses Cody of taking too long to come out but Cody says it has been awhile since he was in front of a crowd like this one. Hang on as Cody gets to pose a bit more and the fans certainly like him. We hear about Cody being the grandson of a plumber but without the Rhodes name, he would just be a plumber. Cody says it would be ..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Update On Missing WWE SmackDown Star’s Status

So that’s where she went? There are a lot of people on the WWE roster and it can be difficult to keep track of some of them. With so many people around, there is a real chance that WWE might not have something for everyone. It can be frustrating for both the wrestlers and the fans alike, and that seems to be the case again with a WWE star who hasn’t been around much in the first place. According to Ringsidenews.com, SmackDown’s Shotzi is perfectly healthy and ready to go whenever WWE has a new story for her. She was not factored into the WrestleMania mix in any way and therefore was not around for any of the shows over WrestleMania weekend. Shotzi has not wrestled on television since the February 25 edition of SmackDown, when she lost to Sasha Banks. Opinion: This is about as WWE as you can get: they bring up someone from NXT, take away part of what makes them work in the first place, and then leave them on the sidelines. Shotzi has been on the main roster for about ten months now an..

Hot Shots: WWE Ready To Give Two Prospects The Superstar Push

They have their eyes on them. There are a lot of wrestlers under the WWE umbrella and some of them have some very bright futures. You can see the ones that WWE wants to turn into something bigger as the company puts in the extra effort for them. On rare occasions, you can see someone who looks poised to become one of the next mega stars though and now WWE has a pair of them in mind. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is looking at Gable Steveson and Bron Breakker as two wrestlers who will be given superstar pushes as soon as they debut. Steveson is an Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling and a two time NCAA Heavyweight Champion. Breakker is a two time and reigning NXT Champion, as well as the son of WWE Hall of Famer Rick Steiner. Both appeared over WrestleMania weekend, though there is no word on when either will appear on the main roster full time. Opinion: This is something that makes all the sense in the world, as WWE knows what they have here. Steveson i..

KB’s Review: Anything CAN Happen

So I grew up as a WWF fan, as I’m sure a lot of fans today did. That means I’m going to remember a lot of the sayings and phrases that were used over and over again on WWF television. One that has been coming to mind more and more over the last few days has been “anything can happen”, though the “in the World Wrestling Federation” part doesn’t apply so much this time. That’s a very good thing in this case. WrestleMania Weekend has come and gone and my goodness it was another packed edition. There were so many things going on both in and out of WWE that it’s almost hard to keep track of everything (though that is what I try to do). What made things interesting though is that it felt like we were seeing things that I actually wouldn’t have believed possible, and that is where the fun came in. One of the recurring themes of this weekend was seeing things that you probably didn’t expect but it was going on right in front of your eyes. That is the kind of thing that makes things all the b..

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – April 6, 2022

Dynamite Date: April 6, 2022 Location: Agganis Arena, Boston, Massachusetts Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross, Excalibur It’s pretty rare to have a lot of things going on when a company hasn’t had a major show, but that is the case this week. Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor event was basically AEW’s Wrestlemania weekend show and included the debut of Samoa Joe. He’ll be here tonight, and that means things could get a lot more interesting. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Adam Cole vs. Christian Cage They stare at each other for a bit until Christian grabs a headlock to grind away a bit. Cole breaks that up and sends him into the corner to take over. Christian knocks him outside though and it’s a baseball slide out to the floor. That means some chops up against the barricade but Christian’s foot gets caught in the ropes, allowing Cole to take over again. A hard whip into the corner rocks Christian and we take a break. Back with Christian knocking him to the floor again and..

Big Match And Special Speech Take Place After Monday Night Raw

One more match. WrestleMania weekend has come and gone, meaning that the biggest wrestling weekend of the year is over. After five days of shows from WWE and other promotions, it is time to get back to normal and start doing everything as we usually do. There was still time for one final match though and it took place after Monday Night Raw went off the air. This week’s post Monday Night Raw dark match saw Cody Rhodes defeat Kevin Owens with the Cross Rhodes. After the match was over, Rhodes spoke to the crowd about how he never had any doubt about coming back to WWE and how surreal of a moment this was. He also revealed that his cousin worked for WWE and was at the timekeeper’s area. Rhodes greeted some fans as they left the arena to end the night. Opinion: This was a heck of a weekend with all kinds of stuff going on and it made for a very exciting few days. Rhodes returning was one of the bigger parts and it made sense for him to be the grand finale. The match was a fun way to wra..

Ouch: Top AEW Star Dealing With Injury

That could be a big problem. Wrestling is a physical sport and there is always the chance that someone could get hurt out of nowhere. It isn’t good to see, but it is a reality that is always around. When wrestlers work even more than usual, the possibility becomes even stronger and that was the case again during the busiest weekend of the year. Now it seems to have caught up with a major star. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW’s Jon Moxley has suffered a hamstring injury at some point during a recent training session. Moxley is expected to work through the injury, as he wrestled multiple matches over WrestleMania weekend. He also appeared at NJPW Strong Lone Star Shootout and referenced the injury. There is no word on when Moxley is expected to wrestle next. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that can happen and that is never a good thing to see. The good thing is that this doesn’t seem to be the most severe, as Moxley seems like he won’t be missing any time. That being said..

WATCH: WWE Releases Touching Tribute To Shad Gaspard

He deserves the attention. We are well on our way to WrestleMania weekend and that means it is time to wrap up all of the preparations. In addition to WrestleMania itself, WWE presents the annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony. This includes a variety of wrestlers getting their recognition, including one special inductee each year. Now one of them is receiving some extra attention. WWE has released a tribute video to Shad Gaspard, who will posthumously receive the Warrior Award at this Friday’s Hall of Fame induction. Gaspard passed away via drowning after telling lifeguards to save his son instead. During his WWE career, Gaspard primarily wrestled in a tag team with JTG as part of Cryme Tyme, though he did compete as a singles wrestler as well. It’s a touching tribute. Check out WWE’s special look at Gaspard, narrated by ESPN’s Mark Krigel: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is one of those tributes that gets more emotional the more I think about it, as Gasp..

REVIEW: More Than Just WrestleMania

As you might have heard, WrestleMania 38 is this weekend and that means things are picking up in a big way. WWE has its work cut out for them as they try to sell out AT&T Stadium two nights in a row, but there are some more things going on over the course of the weekend as well. That is what we are going to be looking at today, as WrestleMania Weekend is about a lot more than WrestleMania. Next weekend will be called the biggest wrestling weekend of the year and that is the case for a lot of wrestling promotions that have nothing to do with WWE. In addition, several other promotions will be running events in and around Dallas, which is what we will be looking at this week. I’ll be avoiding WrestleMania and other major WWE shows (save for NXT, which is kind of its own thing) and non-wrestling events, which should leave us with more than enough material. These are in no particular order. WrestleCon SuperShow In short, it’s the biggest independent wrestling show of the weekend with a s..

Welcome Back? WWE Bringing In A Surprise Big Name For WrestleMania Weekend

He’s a big name. There are a lot of wrestling families but the most important name in the sport’s history might be McMahon. In modern times, there is no name that comes close to meaning as much, as the McMahon Family has run the most powerful wrestling company in the world. Seeing a McMahon doing almost anything is going to get some attention and that is the case again. According to PWInsider.com, WWE is bringing in Shane McMahon for WrestleMania weekend. There is no word on what McMahon will be doing, or if he is scheduled to appear on camera at any point. McMahon had been rumored for a match with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania and Rollins is currently scheduled to face a mystery opponent, though there is nothing to suggest that this will be the case. Should McMahon appear, it would be his first appearance since the Royal Rumble, as WWE sent him home due to backstage issues with how McMahon pushed to be used during the match. Opinion: I’m not sure if McMahon is going to appear, but ju..
