They’re The Ones: The Usos Become First Team Ever To Reach This WWE Milestone

Uncharted territory. Titles have been one of the most important parts of WWE history throughout the decades. A title reign helps define its specific era as it gives you a better idea of who the top stars in the company happen to be. That is the case with WWE today, and now a single title reign has reached a level that none like it ever has in the history of the promotion. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Again? WWE Hall Of Fame Teases Coming Out Of Retirement According to Fightful, as of Friday, the Usos have held the SmackDown Tag Team Titles for 600 days. This is the first time in the history of WWE that any Tag Team Title reign has reached this milestone. The previous record for any tag team title reign was Princess Victoria and Velvet McIntyre, who held the WWF Women’s Tag Team Titles for 572 days from 1983-1984. The Usos are also the Raw Tag Team Champions and have held the titles for 295 days. It has been a ride. Check out the Usos’ reign: [This post contains video, click to play] [T..

REVIEW: WrestleMania 7: Stars And Stripes And More Stars

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Wrestlemania VII Date: March 24, 1991 Location: Los Angeles Sports Arena, Los Angeles, California Attendance: 16,158 Commentators: Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan It’s the Gulf War show, as Hulk Hogan is fighting to get the WWF Title back from former American hero turned Iraqi sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter. If that sounds like one of the worst ideas for a Wrestlemania main event ever, you have quite the memory for these things. Other than that we have Randy Savage vs. Ultimate Warrior in a match that actually belongs i..

REVIEW: WWF WrestleFest 91: Contains A Hidden Gem

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. WrestleFest 1991 Host: Randy Savage Commentators: Lord Alfred Hayes, Sean Mooney Sometimes you need to get away from weekly TV and do some good(ish) old fashioned Coliseum Video. That’s what we have here, with another compilation tape released in July 1991. You never know what you might get on here but that can make for some interesting watches. Let’s get to it. Randy Savage: Man Of Leisure (as the graphic says) is sitting by the pool as the audio from his career ending loss at Wrestlemania VII plays in his head...

LOOK: Popular AEW Star Backstage At WWE Royal Rumble

He seems to be a fan. The rise of AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works and it has made all kinds of differences in the industry. For the first time in years, there is another top level wrestling promotion in the United States, allowing more wrestlers to work on a large stage. There is also a bit of a rivalry between WWE and AEW, but now there is at least one AEW star who is a WWE fan. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Last Second Change: Here Is Why Rey Mysterio Missed The Royal Rumble, What Is Next WWE held its annual Royal Rumble event over the weekend, with Cody Rhodes winning the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Since then, a photo has made its way online, showing Rhodes backstage with AEW star Ricky Starks behind him. There is nothing to suggest that Starks was there as anything more than a visitor. Starks has since commented on the photo, saying “they brought back GTV”, referencing a hidden camera storyline from the late 1990s in the WWF. Damn they brought back GTV ? — Ricky Stark..

Mark It: Important Detail On Next WWE Event In Saudi Arabia

They have a plan for that. WWE is a company that makes a lot of money in a lot of ways, but there are a few revenue streams that crush just about anything else. One of the most important is the company’s deal with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which brings a fortune in to WWE for a pair of annual shows. WWE occasionally does more than this, and now we know a bit more about the next show. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Clip From Attitude Era WWF Live Event Featuring All-Star Lineup According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE’s next Saudi Arabian show will take place in May. WATCH: Clip From Attitude Era WWF Live Event Featuring All-Star Lineup

It’s famous for a reason. There have been several different eras throughout the history of wrestling and some of those times are better known than others. Some of them are easily identifiable by a single word, with one of the most famous of WWE’s history being “Attitude”. The period of the late 1990s to early 2000s is still talked about today, but now we can see something we probably haven’t before. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s Next: Former WWE Star Believes Goldberg “Has A Thumb On” Him WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle has released a rare video from an Attitude Era WWE live event. The clip features Triple H, Chris Benoit, The Rock, Steve Austin, Rikishi and Angle in a six way test of strength before a fight breaks out. While Angle did not give a date for the show, according to Cagematch.de, the only time these six were together in a non-televised match was October 29, 2000 in Buffalo, New York. That’s rather cool. Check out what happened in the match, plus some more of these wrestlers i..

Gillberg Talks Possible Match With Goldberg: “I’ll Bust Him Up”

He’s not next. There are very few wrestlers in history who have made the kind of impact that Goldberg made at the start of his career. After a rather successful football career, Goldberg would go on to become a huge star in wrestling. Goldberg was best known for his undefeated streak where he beat all comers for over a year, but it turns out there was one name he refused to face during his career. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Comeback: Triple H Posts Photo With Celebrity WWE Star During Goldberg’s popularity in WCW, the WWF created a parody character called Gillberg, portrayed by Duane Gill, a much smaller wrestler. Gill recently appeared on the Cafe de Rene podcast and talked about his time as Gillberg. Gill claims that he approached Goldberg about a match between the two of them, but Goldberg turned him down every time. According to a joking Gill, Goldberg was afraid to face him in the ring. It was a funny statement. Check out the clip plus both of them in the ring: [This post contains..

Former NWA World Champion Barry Windham Suffers Serious Medical Issue, GoFundMe Set Up

That’s bad. Wrestlers have to deal with a lot of health and injury issues when they are in the ring and those things can catch up to them in a hurry. Over time they are going to build up no matter what, but those are not even counting other health concerns they might have outside of the ring. Now a legend is having a very serious problem, years after he last set foot in the ring. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Room For One More? Former WWE Star Hints At Returning With Old Partner Former NWA World Champion Barry Windham suffered a heart attack on Friday evening and has undergone emergency surgery to save his life, leaving him in ICU. However, Windham does not have health insurance, resulting in a GoFundMe being set up (which you can donate to right here). Windham, 62, is a former member of the Four Horsemen and won multiple titles in WCW/Jim Crockett Promotions, plus the WWF World Tag Team Titles with Mike Rotunda as the US Express. Windham is an all timer. Check out some of his best moments..

REVIEW: WWF Houston Live Event – December 10, 1987: The Goodish Old Days

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? WWF House Show Date: December 10, 1987 Location: Sam Houston Coliseum, Houston, Texas Commentators: Bruce Pritchard, Mike McGuirk, Duke Doherty Oh that commentary team is going to kill me today. Not really sure of what to expect on this card as I haven’t seen the details of it. The matches would probably be fallout from Survivor Series and leading up to the Rumble….which doesn’t tell us much at all as that was more or less Andre vs. Hogan and that’s about it. Anyway, I love the late 80s so let’s get t..

Championship Dropped In The Trash On Monday Night Raw, Possibly Finished

That’s it? There are a lot of titles under the WWE umbrella and some of them are among the most well known championships in all of wrestling. It means a lot for a wrestler to win one of them but it can also mean a lot for someone to lose it as well. This time though, someone seemed to have lost a title, though not in the traditional way. She might even be happy about it. This week on Monday Night Raw, Nikki Cross defeated Dana Brooke to become the new 24/7 Champion. Later in the night, Cross was seen walking backstage where she threw the title in the trash without saying anything. While not confirmed, this could suggest that the title is being dropped, possibly as a call back to the WWF Women’s Title being dropped in the trash on Monday Nitro in 1995. The title had been active since May 2019. Opinion: At the end of the day, the 24/7 Title has been around for about three and a half years but it has lost a lot of steam in recent months. The title is almost never seen on WWE TV and is r..

Former WWE Star Claims Hulk Hogan Nixed Early Randy Savage WWF Title Plans

There’s a game changer. It takes a special kind of star to rise to the top of WWE. Getting there is not easy and it often means making moves that hurt some people in the process. This might not be the nicest thing in the world, but it is the kind of thing that happens with almost every top star. Now a former WWE name is telling a story about one of the biggest stars WWE has ever seen. During the latest episode of his podcast, former WWE star Mario Mancini told a story about then booker George Scott wanting Randy Savage to win the then WWF Title from Hulk Hogan in 1985. According to Mancini, Hogan did not take kindly to the idea and had Vince McMahon fire Scott as a result. Mancini also said that his career would have been very different had Scott remained as booker, though he did not explain why. Savage would go on to win the title three years later at WrestleMania IV. Opinion: I’m never sure what to think about situations like this, as while it does make Hogan look like he was out f..

WATCH: Mick Foley Releases Mr. In Your House Music Video (Hilarious)

It suits him. There are certain wrestlers who are associated with certain events. Undertaker and Shawn Michaels are most famous for their Wrestlemania performances. Randy Orton has had some incredible success at Survivor Series. Roman Reigns and Steve Austin are perhaps the best Royal Rumble competitors ever. Those are some of the biggest shows of the year, but what about the lower level ones? Mick Foley has released a music video entitled Mr. In Your House, celebrating his success at the series of WWF pay per views which were considered the more minor shows the company produced in the 1990s. Foley has referenced this moniker over the years, saying that “no one came through more when it mattered less”. Foley released the video as part of his Foley Is Pod series. I think this speaks for itself. Check out Foley’s efforts: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Well that made my day. Foley is one of the most creative and entertaining wrestlers throughout history and a lot..

WrestleFest 1993 Hosts: Gene Okerlund, Bobby Heenan Commentators: Sean Mooney, Lord Alfred Hayes, Gorilla Monsoon, Vince McMahon, Bobby Heenan It’s back to Coliseum Video and in this case we’re jumping to one of the weaker times the company has had. The good thing is that these tapes almost always have something worth seeing and there is always a hope that we could see the same thing here. There is no major theme here most of the time and that makes things more fun. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence, featuring va..

REVIEW: WWF Invasion 1992: Just Go Back Home

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Invasion 92 Hosts: Sean Mooney, Lord Alfred Hayes Commentators: Sean Mooney, Lord Alfred Hayes Now this is more my speed. I’ve been doing a lot more indy level stuff lately so let’s take a major step away and go with something I grew up on with a Coliseum Video. This sounds like a bunch of international matches and I’m not sure what to expect from that. These tapes can be from one extreme to the other so it could a lot of ways. Let’s get to it. Sean Mooney, dressed up like a Star Trek officer (in theory at least ..

It’s A Call Back: WWE Hall Of Famer Cameo Leads To Titles Being Vacated

She’s a star. There have been a lot of wrestlers throughout WWE’s history but only a few of them have reached legendary status. These are wrestlers that are remembered for a long time to come, though sometimes they are more remembered for something a little less positive. That was the case with a legend who appeared on WWE TV this week with a reference to her more infamous moment. WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze appeared on this week’s edition of NXT, where she accepted Roxanne Perez’s half of the NXT Tag Team Titles, leaving them officially vacant. Blayze announced a fatal four way for the vacant titles next week, with Valentina Feroz/Yulisa Leon vs. Ivy Nile/Tatum Paxley vs. Katana Chance/Kayden Carter vs. Toxic Attraction. Blayze’s appearance was in reference to Cora Jade dropping her title in the trash last week, ala Blayze with the WWF Women’s Title in 1995. Opinion: It was quite the random cameo, but at least it does have something of a history. There were not many other optio..

KB’s Review: It Makes Summerslam Sense

Last fall, the family went down to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (I didn’t have much of a choice so spare me the “why there” questions) for a vacation. It wasn’t my thing, but at one point I did head out and find a bookstore to pass some time. The store was adjacent to a local mall where I thought they might sell playing cards (one of my other passions, with a current collection of 923 decks (27 wrestling) and counting). Inside the mall I found….very little, as the place was mostly dead. One thing I did find though was an old school arcade inside a comic book store, with a ton of arcade cabinets and a row of pinball machines, including the old WWF Royal Rumble game. Each play was a quarter each so I ran through at least five bucks and had one of the best days of the entire trip there on my own. So what does this have to do with wrestling? Heck if I know, but what does pinball have to do with Summerslam? That’s something that has been bothering me about the build to this year’s Summer..

Summerslam 1992 Date: August 31, 1992 Location: Wembley Stadium, London, England Attendance: 80,355 Commentators: Vince McMahon, Bobby Heenan Most of the older editions are in need of an update so we’ll knock out this one. This is one of the biggest crowds in wrestling history and they’re in for a pretty major show. We have a double main event of Randy Savage defending the WWF Title against the Ultimate Warrior and the instant classic of Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog for the Intercontinental Title. Guess what’s he..

Remember Them: WWE Attitude Era Stable Reunites At Independent Show

There’s a flashback. Stables are something that have done a lot of good for wrestling over the years. Putting a group of wrestlers together under a common banner is something that has worked for a long time and it continues to do so to this day. There have been some very interesting ones over the years but now one of the lesser remembered ones has made a brief comeback. The New Brood had a reunion in a tag match at a Big Time Wrestling event on Saturday night in Prince George, Virginia. The match saw the Hardys faced Gangrel and Joey Janela, who billed themselves as the New New Brood. Gangrel and the Hardys teamed together in 1999 in the WWF against Edge and Christian, the former members of Gangrel’s Brood. Following the match, Gangrel and the Hardys posed together as part of the reunion. The New Brood has REUNITED. pic.twitter.com/5vH1ZGURN4 — MATT HARDY (@MATTHARDYBRAND) May 15, 2022 Opinion: This is one of those things that came out of nowhere and was good for a nice smile, as t..

KB’s Review: Speaking Of Which

So I’ve been sitting around trying to come up with something to talk about this week. It’s a few days after WrestleMania Backlash and the show was quite good, including a title change that was probably long overdue. Then we have had Monday Night Raw, NXT, Dynamite and some news here and there. After all that, I have come to a conclusion: nothing is worth a full column this week. Therefore, it is time to break the glass and go into the slightly off inner workings of my head, as I’m going to do a stream of consciousness deal this time. That means starting with any given topic in wrestling and talking about it until I move on, with a grand total of nothing connecting these things whatsoever. Don’t bother trying to find some theme or anything close to it, as these are going to be things that just come to my mind one after another. I really miss Coliseum Video. There were some terrible entries in its series, but the idea of getting a new WWF tape every so often (normally once a month or s..
