He’s a big one. While there are all kinds of accomplishments and milestones to be achieved in WWE, there are very few that stand the test of time. Almost any title that is won is eventually going to be lost, which creates a problem for remembering some wrestlers more than others. There is one honor that sticks around forever though and now another star is receiving the special recognition. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: No More: WWE Star Confirms Departure From Company This week on the Bump, Ric Flair announced that the Great Muta will be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame as part of the Class of 2023. Muta never wrestled in WWE but did have multiple stints in WCW over the years. He wrestled his retirement match earlier this year, with AEW’s Sting and Darby Allin joining him in his final match under the Great Muta persona. Muta is the second inductee, following Rey Mysterio. Muta was a force. Check out what he could do in the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post con..
It’s an interesting choice. It had been previously reported that Rey Mysterio will be given the ultimate honor within WWE, and become a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, Class of 2023. But who will be the one to induct Mysterio? According to a report from Dave Meltzer, former WCW superstar Konnan will do the honors of bringing Mysterio into the Hall of Fame. From Wrestling News: Konnan was the most obvious choice because they have been close for decades, dating back to Rey and Konnan’s early days in the wrestling business. This might be Konnan’s first appearance at a major WWE event. Konnan wrestled briefly as Max Moon on non-televised matches in 1992 but those matches never aired and he left the company before the character debuted on TV with Paul Diamond playing the role. Konnan will be inducting Rey into the Hall of Fame. Rey asked for him and the company approved it. As noted last night, to me it was the only choice. — Dave Meltzer (@davemeltzerWON) March 11, 2023 Editor’s Opin..
There’s your cameo. There have been all kinds of wrestlers throughout history and some of them are names who do not make the biggest impact. Some of them make a short term impact and become a bit more infamous than famous, but they are not around all that long. Now one of the more memorable stars from WCW made an appearance in a spot you might not have expected him. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s About That Time: Wrestling Legend Says He Does Not Have Much Time Left In The Ring Ernest “The Cat” Miller made a surprise appearance this week on Impact Wrestling, helping new Director Of Authority Santino Marella set up a six person tag match for later in the night. There is no word on if Miller will be appearing again for Impact Wrestling. Miller was a former WCW Commissioner during WCW’s final years before eventually wrestling and commentating for WWE. After a nearly ten year hiatus, Miller returned to the ring in 2015 and still wrestles occasionally. Miller certainly had some interesting ..
Not so fast? There have been all kinds of wrestling stars throughout the years but only a handful have reached the level of Goldberg. Armed with a spear and Jackhammer combination, Goldberg’s quick matches became one of the most popular attractions in WCW and built up his WWE career. While Goldberg only wrestles on occasion these days, he does have a future in wrestling, at least in theory. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: Edge Returning For Huge Match At WWE Royal Rumble Goldberg’s current WWE deal expires at the end of the year, though he has no remaining matches on his contract. While there have been rumors of Goldberg signing a new deal, according to Fightful Select, that would be “news to his reps that negotiate those kinds of deals”. Goldberg’s most recent match took place at Elimination Chamber in February, when he was defeated by Roman Reigns. There is no word on Goldberg signing elsewhere once his contract expires. Goldberg has done well during his WWE run. Check ou..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Mayhem 2000 Date: November 26, 2000 Location: Wisconsin Center Arena, Milwaukee, Wisconsin Attendance: 3,800 Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Stevie Ray, Mark Madden These dying days of WCW are a scary place. Things are about as bad as they’ve been since Russo left, including a rather uninteresting main event of Booker T. defending his World Title against Scott Steiner (again) in a match that really isn’t the biggest secret. Let’s get to it. We open with Booker arriving and being mobbed by the fans that..

Starrcade 2000 Date: December 17, 2000 Location: MCI Center, Washington, D.C. Attendance: 6,596 Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Mark Madden, Scott Hudson We’ve uh…..arrived. It’s the final edition of WCW’s flagship show and it’s looking somewhere between a bad C show and a horribly unfunny joke. The main event is Scott Steiner (won the title three weeks ago) defending against Sid Vicious (not in the promotion three weeks ago). Such is life in the dying days of this company. Let’s get to it. He’s not next. There are very few wrestlers in history who have made the kind of impact that Goldberg made at the start of his career. After a rather successful football career, Goldberg would go on to become a huge star in wrestling. Goldberg was best known for his undefeated streak where he beat all comers for over a year, but it turns out there was one name he refused to face during his career. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Comeback: Triple H Posts Photo With Celebrity WWE Star During Goldberg’s popularity in WCW, the WWF created a parody character called Gillberg, portrayed by Duane Gill, a much smaller wrestler. Gill recently appeared on the Cafe de Rene podcast and talked about his time as Gillberg. Gill claims that he approached Goldberg about a match between the two of them, but Goldberg turned him down every time. According to a joking Gill, Goldberg was afraid to face him in the ring. It was a funny statement. Check out the clip plus both of them in the ring: [This post contains..
That’s bad. Wrestlers have to deal with a lot of health and injury issues when they are in the ring and those things can catch up to them in a hurry. Over time they are going to build up no matter what, but those are not even counting other health concerns they might have outside of the ring. Now a legend is having a very serious problem, years after he last set foot in the ring. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Room For One More? Former WWE Star Hints At Returning With Old Partner Former NWA World Champion Barry Windham suffered a heart attack on Friday evening and has undergone emergency surgery to save his life, leaving him in ICU. However, Windham does not have health insurance, resulting in a GoFundMe being set up (which you can donate to right here). Windham, 62, is a former member of the Four Horsemen and won multiple titles in WCW/Jim Crockett Promotions, plus the WWF World Tag Team Titles with Mike Rotunda as the US Express. Windham is an all timer. Check out some of his best moments..
That would be a fight. Wrestling is a unique sport as while it is presented as a legitimate fight, the finishes are pre-determined and the wrestlers are tasked with working together to make the match work as well as possible. However, there are also questions about who would win should these matches be legitimate contests. Now one legend is chiming in on who he thinks could beat a top WWE star. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Braun Strowman Gets Slapped Hard During WWE Dark Match During an interview with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, former WWE and WCW star the Barbarian was asked what would happen in a fight between Brock Lesnar and Haku. Barbarian said that he felt if the fight was structured with rules, Lesnar would win, but if it was a bar fight with no rules and both in their primes, Haku would be able to take Lesnar. Haku is often cited as the toughest wrestler in history, while Lesnar is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and NCAA Heavyweight Wrestling Champion. These are some tal..
End of the line? Wrestlers are a unique breed when it comes to athletics. While they are all athletes in one way or another, many of them top caliber, many of them do not walk away from competition like others are able to do. This is partially due to being able to get back in the ring for one more match, making it hard to finish up. Now one legend is ready to finish things up for good though. They had another idea. AEW has built up a roster with all kinds of different wrestlers, ranging from modern stars, up and coming wrestlers and veterans. It can mean a lot to have some legendary wrestlers show up after a long absence from the public eye. AEW tried to do just that but there was something standing in their way that caused their plans to be thrown off. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s Overdue: AEW Star Reveals Major Surgery For Months Old Injury During the fall of 2021, Chris Jericho was forced to undergo the Five Labors Of Jericho in an effort to get to face Maxwell Jacob Friedman. One of the labors involved Jericho facing former WCW rival Juventud Guerrera. During a virtual signing with Highspots, Guerrera revealed that he was in talks with AEW for another appearance two months after his first. However, Guerrera got hurt and the talks fell through, with no further appearances taking place. Guerrera did look good in the ring. Check out what he did, plus another version of t..
That could have been great. One thing that almost every wrestling fan has done over the years is talk about what kind of dream matches they would love to see. Fans can come up with some of the most out there concepts for a match that still sound fun to hear. Occasionally you will see wrestlers doing the same thing and now one of the all time greats has revealed his dream match. That’s another name. One of the biggest stories of WWE has been the career trajectory of Sasha Banks. Back in May, Banks and Naomi walked out on WWE, forfeiting the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles in the first place. In recent months, there has been talk of Banks returning to the company. In the mean time though, she has been staying with her training and now we can see her doing so. A video has been posted to Twitter showing Banks training with former WWE and WCW star Juventud Guerrera. The video seems to have been filmed recently and shows Banks headscissoring Guerrera. There is no word on when or if Banks will be returning to WWE, though she and Naomi were recently returned to the WWE television signature introduction video. She still has it. Check out Banks in the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of thing that gives fans hope, but at the end of the day, it is all about her returning to the ring, which may not be taking place so soon. Lock them in. We are coming up on Survivor Series and this year’s edition is going to be a little bit different. For the first time, we are going to be seeing WarGames make its main roster debut in WWE. There will be two matches on the show with a men’s and women’s match taking place on the show. Now we have a good idea of what one of the matches is going to be. This week on Monday Night Raw, WWE announced most of the women’s WarGames match. Bianca Belair, Asuka and Alexa Bliss challenged Damage Ctrl to compete in the match, with Damage Ctrl accepting. Nikki Cross became the fourth member of Team Damage Ctrl, with one more member to go. Belair and company still have two teammates to be announced. Survivor Series takes place on Saturday November 26. Opinion: As an old WCW fan, it feels so strange to see WarGames in WWE but now we are several major steps towards it actually happening. Just having the matches announced was one thing but now we are seeing the participants getting ready t..
It’s that time again as we get another WCW event being used better by NXT than by WWE. Halloween Havoc is a simple concept that can be done rather well with a cool set and some rather gimmicky matches. As luck would have it, the second one of those is already guaranteed and the first is all but guaranteed so we should be in for a pretty fun, and maybe even eventful, night. Let’s get to it. Apollo Crews vs. Grayson Waller We’ll start with a match that we don’t know yet, as this is going to be Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal. Crews has suddenly developed the power of foresight and keeps seeing Waller in varying states of pain so now they’re having a match as a result. Waller is one of the hotter prospects in NXT and Crews is able to work well with just about anyone so, gimmick depending, this should be good. I’ll take Waller to win here, as there isn’t much of a need for him to lose. Crews is someone whose legacy is already established and he can take a loss here and there without having..

It’s as good of a time as any as I could go for a little pallet cleanser. Hulk Hogan has shown up and that means it’s time to put everything around him. It had been previously reported that John Laurinaitis had been placed on administrative leave following his involvement with the scandal that led to Vince McMahon retiring from WWE. According to a report from PWInsider, the company has now officially terminated Laurinaitis. According to the report, the decision to fire Laurinaitis was kept very quiet beyond a very small circle, and the termination happened within the last week. WWE has not publicly announced the dismissal as of this notice. McMahon is currently being investigated for an alleged $3 million payment to a WWE employee due to a sexual relationship between the two. The investigation also includes a variety of other possible claims of misconduct against McMahon and Laurinaitis. McMahon is said to have used his own personal money to make the payments. Laurinaitis first joined WWE in 2001 following the demise of WCW. He was promoted to Senior Vice President of Talent Relations in 2007 and resigned in 2012. However, he return..
They’re up last. In less than two weeks, WWE will be presenting Summerslam in Nashville, Tennessee. The show will be one of the biggest of the year for WWE but there are other things going on in the same place. In addition to Summerslam, Ric Flair’s Last Match will be held in Nashville, and now we know the most important part of the entire show, as an announcement has been made. Bleacher Report Wrestling’s Twitter account has revealed that Ric Flair’s final match will be a tag match as he teams with Andrade El Idolo vs. Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett, with Karen Jarrett in their corner. El Idolo is Flair’s son-in-law and Flair has managed him in various matches over the last few years. Lethal and Flair had a history in Impact Wrestling with Lethal impersonating Flair, while Jarrett was part of the Four Horsemen with Flair in WCW.
