It Didn’t Work: Bryan Danielson Reveals How He Tried To Get Fired From WWE Job

He wanted out. There are all kinds of different WWE programs every week and not all of them involve actual wrestling. The company regularly features a variety of shows recapping recent action or focusing on interviews with wrestlers. Those shows have their own regular hosts, but a former one is now recalling a time when he was desperately trying to get off his own show. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Try Him: AEW Reportedly Planning Push For Popular Star Bryan Danielson appeared on Renee Paquette’s The Sessions podcast and discussed their time hosting Talking Smack in WWE. Danielson revealed that during some of his time on the show, he was actively trying to get fired. Danielson cited frustrations with not being medically cleared to wrestle and not wanting to be brought in for television for just Talking Smack. In efforts to get fired, Danielson would regularly bring up James Ellsworth having a “huge hog” despite being told not to by management. Eventually Danielson was cleared to return to ..

Kayla Braxton Shuts Down Sami Zayn’s Trolling With Awesome Response

I’d call it a feud. Wrestling is built around the idea of having fans put their money down to see people get into a fight with one emerging victorious. That has been the way the industry works for decades and it is still the case to this day. Some feuds are a little more serious than others though and now a slightly less intense one is getting a new stage after a pretty long hiatus. Back in October 2021, WWE backstage correspondent Kayla Braxton dressed up as Sami Zayn for Halloween and impersonated him on Talking Smack. Earlier this week, Braxton asked who she should be for Halloween this year, prompting a response from Zayn, saying he held grudges. Braxton responded by posting a photo of herself in Zayn’s Honorary Uce shirt and asking “how about now?”. It’s kind of complicated. Check out what started it all and the fallout: [This post contains video, click to play] Guys – Halloween is approaching. In years past, I’ve dressed up as a better @SamiZayn than Sami Zayn and of course l..

Bryan Danielson On Real Life Heat With Miz And Famous Talking Smack Segment

It’s part of the business. Wrestling is a unique form of entertainment, as the industry is built around the idea of scripted feuds and rivalries. The wrestlers regularly get along behind the scenes, though that is not always the case. There are some wrestlers who do not get along no matter what, and that is the situation between two of the more prominent names today. AEW’s Bryan Danielson was a guest on Renee Paquette’s The Sessions podcast and discussed his real life heat with the Miz. Danielson talked about the segment between the two of them on Talking Smack, where Miz yelled at him after Danielson called Miz a coward in the ring. The original idea would be for Danielson to punch Miz, either causing him to get fired or to set up a match between the two. Danielson felt that it was better to walk away and leave Miz with his momentum as he was not medically cleared to wrestle. While Danielson said that they don’t like each other, he does respect Miz for all of his hard work. Since yo..

An Interesting Goal: How Bryan Danielson Tried To Get Fired From WWE

He had a reason. There have been very few success stories in wrestling like that of Bryan Danielson. Just looking at him, there is little reason to believe that he would become a star. That is just what Danielson has done though, as he has become one of the most successful names in wrestling history. There were some darker times to his career though, and now he has revealed a rather interesting story. Danielson appeared on the Sessions podcast during Starrcast over the weekend and revealed that he was actively trying to get fired from WWE while appearing on Talking Smack. This would include various innuendos and jokes that he was told not to make, including about James Ellsworth’s anatomy. Danielson appeared on the show during his retirement from WWE due to a series of injuries which kept him from wrestling. Opinion: It’s a weird thing to say but I can get why Danielson was trying something like this. The situation he was in left him employed but not doing what he loved, which can ma..

What’s In A Name: WWE Officially Renames One Of Its Weekly Shows

Change the marquee. There are all kinds of wrestling shows from WWE every week and some of them are among the most well know shows in history. Some of them are not so much though, as WWE has a lot of shows that tend to fly under the radar. That is the case with their two weekly recap shows, and now one of them is going to be getting a brand new name. WWE has officially renamed their weekly SmackDown recap show from Talking Smack to the SmackDown Lowdown. The name change officially took place this week with the first show under the new name taking place on June 18. There is no word on why the name change took place and there is nothing to suggest that the show has changed in any significant way under the new name. Opinion: That’s one of those decisions that WWE makes that doesn’t mean much of anything but is indeed a change. I still don’t know why the recap shows aren’t used a bit better. Let the wrestlers try their hand at some promos and see who can make them work. It’s one of the s..

That Explains It: Why Vince McMahon Pulled Paul Heyman From Talking Smack

There was a reason for that. WWE has a lot of different television shows available, but that is not the extent of their content. In addition to everything they put on television, they have a wide variety of web series available as well. Some of these have quite the fan base, though one recent change was not so well received. Now we know a bit more about why that was the case. Earlier this year, Paul Heyman was replaced on WWE’s Talking Smack series. The move came just after live fans returned to WWE events and it was unclear why the change was made. Heyman explained the change in an interview with Ariel Helwani, saying that he was unable to appear in the studio for the show while also appearing in Roman Reigns’ corner for the dark match main event. As a result of the scheduling conflict, Vince McMahon made the call for an immediate change. There is nothing to suggest that there is any heat on Heyman. It’s an interesting interview. Check out the show, plus Heyman on Talking Smack: [T..

WWE May Be Going Head To Head With AEW Again

They’re at it again. AEW has come a long way in a fairly short amount of time and has shaken up the wrestling world as a result. That is the kind of thing that we have not seen in a very long time and it is hard to know what to think of it most of the time. WWE certainly does not seem to know what to do about them most of the time but they might be trying something new. According to PWInsider.com, some cable systems are listing WWE Talking Smack airing at 10pm EST on Friday October 29 on Fox Sports 1, putting the show on at the same time as AEW Rampage. SmackDown is already scheduled to air on Fox Sports 1 the same night due to FOX’s coverage of the World Series. This comes after last week’s SmackDown was extended by half an hour to go against Rampage, which aired a special Buy-In show to oppose the second half of SmackDown. There is no word on if this would be a permanent move, as Talking Smack normally airs on Saturday mornings. Talking Smack has had its moments. Check out some of ..

WWE Making Plans For Two New Regular Series

Even more? If there is one thing that WWE is good at, it is producing content. The company has all kinds of shows throughout the week, some of which are institutions of professional wrestling. At the same time though, WWE also has several shows which might not get the same amount of attention. Now they are going to have the chance to showcase even more of their content. According to Fightful.com, WWE has filed trademarks for “Raw Rebound” and “SmackDown Breakdown”, both of which would be shows about wrestling. There is no word on when or where these would air, or if they would be replacing Raw Talk and Talking Smack. WWE has run Raw Rebound segments before, often during episodes of SmackDown to offer recaps of the week’s Monday Night Raw. Both shows could use another look. Check out some of the better parts of the two: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click t..

VIDEO: Several More WWE Draft Picks Made On Saturday

Keep it going. We are in the middle of the 2021 WWE Draft and that means we are seeing the WWE’s rosters shaken up in a huge way. There were several picks made during this week’s SmackDown and there will be even more made next week on Monday Night Raw. However, there are some other picks being made in the middle and some of them were quite big as well. There were more Draft picks made during this week’s edition of Talking Smack. Monday Night Raw made eleven picks while SmackDown made six, though two of Monday Night Raw’s picks were tag teams. The tag team of Mace and T-Bar have been split up, with Mace going to SmackDown and T-Bar going to Monday Night Raw. Here are all of the picks made on Saturday: Monday Night Raw 24/7 Champion Reggie Akira Tozawa Alpha Academy (Chad Gable & Otis) Apollo Crews & Commander Azeez Doudrop Drake Maverick John Morrison T-Bar Nia Jax R-Truth Zelina Vega SmackDown Toni Storm Aliyah Drew Gulak Mansoor Mustafa Ali Mace There are some big names here. VIDEO: WWE Announces Injury To SmackDown Star

Hopefully it isn’t too bad. Just like in other sports, there are all kinds of injuries in wrestling. You never know when you are going to see someone go onto the injured list and miss some ring time. To make things even more complicated, there is always the chance that the injury is part of a storyline and not legitimate. It seems that the latter is the case this time. WWE announced an injury update to Cesaro during this week’s edition of Talking Smack. Cesaro is said to have suffered a cervical strain due to an attack at the hands of Seth Rollins during this week’s SmackDown. Cesaro defeated Rollins in their match via disqualification when Rollins used a chair, with Rollins attacking Cesaro after the match ended. There is no word on how long Cesaro will be out of action. It was a brutal one. Check out the announcement, the match, plus what Cesaro can do when he is healthy: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains vi..

You Won’t See Paul Heyman On WWE As Much Anymore

So long? WWE has more content than it knows what to do with most of the time. Between Monday Night Raw, SmackDown and NXT and all of the other shows, it can be hard to keep track of everything that WWE has going on. It can help to have a few other shows to recap the bigger ones, but now a rather prominent voice will no longer be on one of those specific shows. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Paul Heyman will no longer be appearing on Talking Smack, with Pat McAfee taking his place. There is no word on why Heyman is off the show, though there is nothing to suggest that he is in any kind of trouble. Talking Smack airs Saturday mornings on Peacock and the WWE Network and serves as a recap show for SmackDown. Heyman was gold on the show. Check out some of his appearances: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I’m not sure I get what WWE is doing here and it would not be..

Kevin Owens Has Some Grand Money In The Bank Plans

We aren’t done yet. One of the most interesting WWE stories over the last ten months has been Roman Reigns, who has dominated the SmackDown landscape. Reigns won the Universal Title on August 30 and there is nothing to suggest that he is slowing down anytime soon. One of the biggest problem is that Reigns is running out of challengers, but someone seems to have his eyes set on the title. This week on Talking Smack, Kevin Owens called Paul Heyman, who was not hosting the show as usual. Owens told Heyman not to hang up and promised to win the Money In The Bank contract and come after Reigns. He also said that there was nothing Heyman or Reigns could do about it. Owens qualified for Money In The Bank after defeating Sami Zayn in a Last Man Standing match on this week’s SmackDown. Owens has challenged Reigns during his time with the title, including a pair of pay per view matches. Reigns defeated Owens in a Tables Ladders And Chairs match at the pay per view of the same name in 2020, in ..

VIDEO: Intense Moment Takes Place On Talking Smack

She isn’t happy. There was quite the surprise on this week’s edition of SmackDown as Zelina Vega made a return to WWE television after an eight month absence. Vega was added to the Money In The Bank ladder match and would go on to face Liv Morgan in a losing effort. Her night was not over though as she had a bit of an encounter with a surprising opponent. Vega was a guest on this week’s edition of Talking Smack and got into an argument with host Kayla Braxton. During the interview, Braxton brought up Vega losing the match with Morgan, but Vega brushed it off and threatened to slap her. Vega went on to say that she did not have any competition in Money In The Bank before saying that she looked better in red than Braxton to end the interview. This was pretty intense. Check out the interview and what else she can do: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I’m glad that Vega is back, as..

Main Event Set For WWE Money In The Bank

They aren’t wasting time. We are less than a month away from Money In The Bank and that means WWE is going to need to start setting the card up in a hurry. With so many people wrestling in the show’s ladder matches, the remaining matches are going to need something special to boost them up. That seems to be the case with one of the show’s main event, which has now been confirmed. WWE has announced that Edge will challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Title at Money In The Bank. Edge returned this week on SmackDown and attacked Reigns in a brawl to end the show, with the match being made the following morning on Talking Smack. Reigns defeated Edge and Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 37 but this will be their first ever singles match against each other. This should be awesome. Check out how we got here and some of their history: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is about as l..

Roman Reigns Could Have A Brand New Challenger On SmackDown

How else can you do it? After several years of stalled pushed and missteps with Roman Reigns, WWE has finally figured out the right formula. Reigns is approaching ten months as the Universal Champion and there is no reason to believe that anyone is going to be stopping him anytime soon. That makes finding challengers for him a little more difficult, but WWE has a new idea. This week on Talking Smack, Reigns’ personal counsel Paul Heyman issued an open challenge on Reigns’ behalf. After Reigns successfully defended his title against Rey Mysterio in a Hell in a Cell match on SmackDown, he authorized Heyman to find a new challenger for him. Heyman has said that Reigns’ dance card is open and anyone who wants a shot at him can come get one on the June 25 SmackDown. There is no word on who could accept the challenge. Reigns has held the Universal Title since August 30, 2020, when he defeated the Fiend to win the title in a triple threat match also involving Braun Strowman. Since then, Rei..

Universal Championship Match Set For Hell in a Cell 2021

It’s all about family. Since becoming the Universal Champion last year, Roman Reigns has made a big deal about the importance of family. He will have the opportunity to show that at the upcoming 2021 Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, which happens to take place on Father’s Day. This past week on Smackdown, Rey Mysterio challenged Roman Reigns to a match for the title at Hell in a Cell. This morning on Talking Smack, Paul Heyman accepted the challenge on behalf of his client. You can see the clip below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: The elder Mysterio confronted The Head of the Table on SmackDown after the Universal Champion’s brutal attack on his son Dominik. Father and son launched a Kendo stick attack that Reigns narrowly escaped. The Mysterios have carried a target on their backs as SmackDown Tag Team Champions, but the father-son duo always head into battle shoulder to shoulder. On the other side, Reigns has seen the reemergence of Jimmy Uso draw a line b..

Wrestling World Reacts To New Jack’s Passing

Now for the reaction. Every now and then, the wrestling world gets some pretty bad news as a wrestler or former wrestler passes away. That is never a good thing to hear and that was the case again this week, as former ECW star New Jack passed away from a heart attack at 58 years old. New Jack certainly left his mark on wrestling and now the industry is reacting. Various wrestlers have reacted to New Jack’s passing, including names from WWE, AEW, ECW, the independent circuit and more. Several wrestlers have commented on New Jack’s unique personality and the energy he brought to his matches. In addition, former ECW owner Paul Heyman commented on New Jack’s passing during this week’s edition of Talking Smack. Here are some of the many reactions, including New Jack’s wife’s and Heyman’s, plus a look at some of his time in the ring: WWE is saddened to learn that Jerome Young, known in ECW as New Jack, passed away today at the age of 58. WWE extends its condolences to Young’s family and ..

Paul Heyman Says Injured WWE Star Available

Here he comes to save the day? Any wrestler can be taken down by an injury at any given time. That is bad enough in the first place, but it is a much bigger problem when someone is gone for a long time. Some injuries are a lot worse than others, as you might not see an injured wrestler for a long time. That was the case last year, and only now is he ready to make a return. Last year at WrestleMania 36, Jimmy Uso took part in a triple threat ladder match for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. Unfortunately he was injured in the match and has not wrestled since, despite the injury taking place nearly a year ago. That is a ridiculous amount of time to be out of action, but now we might be seeing him again sooner rather than later. This week on Talking Smack, Paul Heyman suggested that Uso was ready to return to the ring. Heyman talked about how Jey Uso had become an attacker for hire for Roman Reigns. While speaking to Big E., Heyman said that there was more than one Uso available for such ..

WATCH: Paul Heyman Can’t Get A Word Out Of Apollo Crews

I guess not. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be difficult to find something for everyone to do. Sometimes you need to mix things up a bit to find something new for them and that can cause some issues. Every now and then, these changes can be for the better and that seemed to be the case this week on SmackDown, but the followup might be a little strange. One of the bigger stories to come out of this week’s edition of SmackDown was Apollo Crews attacking Big E. and Shinsuke Nakamura after Nakamura defeated Crews in a match. The attack came after Big E. had denied Crews another Intercontinental Title shot and told Crews to return to catering and have a seat. As a result, Crews attacked Nakamura and then used the steps to take Big E. out, even putting him on the shelf for a bit according to Kayla Braxton on Talking Smack. Now Crews has been asked about what he did, but the response was a little more complicated. You might not need to listen. Check out Crews on Talking Sm..

SmackDown Results – September 18, 2020

Smackdown Date: September 18, 2020 Location: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves We are coming up on Clash Of Champions and that means it is time to start getting ready for the pay per view. There are a lot of different things being set up, including a few more title matches. Tonight we might get a few steps closer to that but you never know around here. Let’s get to it. We open with the Dirt Sheet, with Miz and John Morrison promising to get all of the dirt on the biggest stories going on in WWE today. After a clip of Miz announcing Mandy Rose is on her way to Raw on Talking Smack, Miz insists that he is not trying to get back at Otis. No, instead he is trying to help Otis as a former Mr. Money In The Bank. Now that Mandy is gone, Otis can focus on cashing in the briefcase while the men on Raw can focus on Mandy. Morrison: “Isn’t Ziggler over there?” Cue Otis to beat both of them up, with Tucker throwing both of them back in as they try to escape..
